Apocrypha would have genuinely been 10x better if he was completely removed from the story. The whole reason Apocrypha became absolute garbage was because of this bland self-insert fucker that got literally everything handed to him. Nobody wanted a character like this, an actual Grail War between two factions sounded like the coolest shit but no we NEED a gary stu protag to "carry" the show.

Nasu. The writer of Apocrypha had Jeanne in mind as the main protagonist with Amakusa as her respective antagonist (both being Christians and all). Nasu was the one who came up with Sieg as a way of introducing a homunculus main character, completely missing the point that most of the appeal of Fate homunculi come from being the fated cup of the Holy Grail.
