Stardust was bearable for me, but DiU dragged on to the point of suffering, it's lucky that Kira was entertaining enough to save the entire thing.

Part 1 is just simpler, and as long as it needs to be in the anime. Jonathan is not generic, but rather traditional as a hero. His biggest character flaw is that he's autsistically forgiving, to the point where it is unimmersive.
Parts 1and 2 have the advantage of not being villian-of-week stories.
From there onwards, I couldn't bring myself to watch more than 4 episodes a day. Especially after all the main characters have been introduced. Part 4 being biggest culprit. A fucking rat.

part 3 is one of the most iconic arc of the entire shonen history, and gave life to all the modern power systems. It's great in every sense, even the ass pulls are entertaining.

Just remember this: every part after part 4 is a spinoff. Part 1-4=original series. Part 5-present spinoffs set in a similar universe with similar powers, but no original characters or plot points. Occasionally OG characters are referenced or make a brief appearance in order to excite fans.

Part 3 is just around the world in 80 days with half the pacing a quarter of the characterization and none of the charm. The cast is bland as shit aside from like maybe one or two characters, the stands are beyond boring, and it's way too long.
Just don't listen to them OP. Phantom blood is a little rough but it's only 9 episodes so it doesn't overstay its welcome.
If you're not an anime only you should read the new series (Steel Ball Run and Jojolion). They take place in a separate universe and are really good.

I forgot to mention that motw works in VA, because it makes sense in context. That La Squadra are trying to catch them while they're travelling to Rome as fast as possible. They can't go after Bucciarati together. Their powers are intimidating. They're my favorite villains from Jojo.

The Tonio, Yukako, Kobayashi and Hazamada arcs for example are inconsequential shit. The Cinderella arc's entire purpose was to introduce face changing.

Most of part 4's antagonists have little to no reason for their hostility. It makes Morioh feel retarded. Part 4's MOTW would be better if the MCs stumbled upon Tonios or Ayas with the occasional Keicho instead of most of the enemies being fucking psychotic for no reason.

Im glad you're liking PB, its my least favorite part but its still really fun. I think people are too harsh on it, and dont realize it has qualities that other jojo parts dont have.

The best part about jojo's is the chemistry between the team in each part.
It especially shows in parts 4 and 7.

part 1 was still good, I just think it *mostly* improves with each arc. hamon is kind of a generic shounen "energy" plot device, which is why people tend to like stands better once they're introduced. then I think parts 6 onward do a good job of toning stands down just a little but still keeping the crazy stuff

Jojo's begins by relying on cliches, which is reflective of the times the manga was serialized. As the series progresses, Araki really figures out his own writing style (and sexuality) and the series becomes its own unique thing, which is why people like later parts more.

If you like early Jojo you're in very good luck, you'll love later parts.

All these people saying that "regular people gaining superpowers" justifies the conflicts of part 4 are right for irrelevant reasons and wrong where it matters. They're right in a real world sense - that is how people would act if they suddenly got superpowers. They're wrong in a narrative sense - you retards are quick to forget this is a story, and as much as you hated middle school English class, good stories DO have every part of them written intentionally.

Part 4 has lots of parts that amount to nothing more than making Morioh feel lively, and while that is nice for the simple monster-hiding-in-suburbia tone, it's a horrible trade-off because A) it comes right in between the narratively consistent justifications for the antagonists in Parts 3 and 5 and B) all of these irrelevant or otherwise poorly justified antagonists could be cut out of the story (or twice as numerous) and the end result is the same. There is only so much necessary to characterize the town of Morioh with these antagonists, and ultimately the story that matters is the one revolving around Kira. The story of Part 4 is all over the place with poor direction until the end, and apologists will defend this poor writing only because it's "different".

Bad manga to anime transfer. In manga, there are narration boxes and segments, but it doesn't break the pacing because you read things quickly. In an anime, it takes them like two minutes to explain what could be read in half of one. The director should have figured out a better way to do it in animated format. Unless the mangaka has a very cinematic style, you can't just transfer things 1:1.

There's a lot of dumb shit that makes it hard to take any of it seriously. The plot is pretty good but Jojo's ridiculously naive and the dialogue is kind of stupid sometimes. Very little suspense when the guy says "I will make him think he can arrest me then stab him with this knife".

to elaborate on this, before I get butthurt responses. Dio kills his dog, assaults him repeatedly, socially isolates and bullies him rapes his girlfriend and cucks him. Jojo however believes there friends because they played rugby together. So absurd literally noone would act this way unless they have long term memory loss.

Jojo has an inner monologue about how he doesn't trust Dio immediately after that rugby game, and then immediately accuses him of trying to kill his dad. He doesn't think they're friends. He just tolerates him because his father told him to.

Except no.
Jojo is naive, to the point where he wonders if the emotional abuse was just a dream, but he still can never fully bring himself to love Dio as a brother.
Dio has the opposite problem, where he knows he has to eliminate Jojo and be pragmatic if he wants the power he craves, but he can't fully bring himself to hate Jojo and makes suboptimal decisions because of that.

I finished part one and two in one sitting this week, nopw at episode 4 at the new third part. I fucking hate stands. Joseph and Jonathan were also 10 times better than the faggot that is Jotaro. My brother hyped Stands as one of the most creative things ever, but it's boring as fuck honestly.

Hamon would've gotten old really fast since it can just do whatever the plot needs it to.
Stands start out that way, but as time goes on, they change so that they just do one very specific thing which the entire battle revolves around.

Bullshit, stands in parts 5 and 6 are fucking inconsistent. Especially GE, the embodiment of "doing whatever the plot need it to", it's more bullshit than hamon ever was.

David really screwed the pooch on part 3.
Their insistence on having each fight stretch out over entire episodes instead of just letting one fight end and another begin in the same episode killed the pacing.

Gold Experience only had one retcon, because the damage reflection thing was too broken, and stayed consistent throughout the rest of the part.
It can do a lot of things, but that's just because "life creation" is extremely broad.

I try to watch shows (and consume media in general) that I'm 75%+ sure that I'll really like. If I only mildly enjoy it I can't stand it and would rather shitpost on Yea Forums or something. Part 4's stands got me through its first half and Kira as a villain knocked it out of the park in the second half.
Do you say this because of the first half of part 4 consists of pointless characters and stands (which were merely "OK" to me) or because of all of it?

Weather manipulation is kind of a bad term for it. It's more like atmospheric manipulation. When people think weather manipulation they think like making it rain or lightning and stuff. But the two biggest things WP does is change the refraction angle of the atmosphere and raise the percentage of oxygen in a room. Most people would think of raising oxygen concentration as being connected to the weather.

I always thought of it and a lot of JoJo in general as having a more episodic appeal. It's not necessary for any given character or villain to contribute to the overarching plot as long as their particular incident is a complete arc from beginning to end. Each stand confrontation is like an entire story in and of itself, and Kira just happened to span a couple arcs instead of one. He was hardly different from the typical asshole with superpowers in Morioh.

I'd just ignore people who say that Joseph is a gary stu. They're just speedreaders who think the fact that he makes jokes while fighting sometimes is all it takes to be qualified as a gary stu. If you actually take the time to watch the fights he's in you'd notice that he fucks up like 10 times in pretty much every single one. Jotaro is much, much closer to being a gary stu than Joseph and I'd still hesitate to call him one because he still gets fucked or caught off guard every once in a blue moon.
