Audacity is like windows media recorder 2.0, if you want to make your life easier use Fruity Loops's Edison plugin or Magix Audio & Music Lab Premium, 2nd one has a lot of pre-made presets so it's easy to use even for a beginner, depending on how clean you want vocals to be. It's easy to pull a track trough a de-noiser but 9/10 times it will sound like talking trough a wet tube, making it sound even worse. It's more about knowing which frequencies are the actual noise to pick them out, without butchering other frequencies nearby and there's plenty of guides to learn.

>cut and paste tracks to sync with the song
>delete or silence background noise
>learn the volume for each singer and adjust it accordingly so they can be made audible and consistent with other anons without breaking the static rule
>find instrumental and vocal tracks to help with anons singing and your own editing

this didn't take me more than 30 mins, mouse over all the buttons and gadgets to see what they do, or start fucking around with them until you see what are they for.

I might want to make changes at the end, like having one guy singing at point x, then another at point y. This is why non-destructive workflow is so important.

Your 'workflow' can be handled with planning and direction. If you really want to do it that way, there are ghetto ways of doing it, by inserting and editing multiple of the same track.

I can tell you don't use digital software in a professional environment. I'm not an audio guy, but shit like this is extremely important to anyone working in Photoshop or any 3D modeling software.

I made a logo several times in Illustrator and Photoshop if that really matters to you, I know what it means to have several versions of the finished product as well as keeping several saves for steps you made along the way in case changes must be made.
