Mission eleven with the Gripen was my peak piloting. You can destroy those mgs2 sea struts by blowing up the support columns (normally, you're just supposed to blow up the stuff on top of them). You're probably supposed to use unguided rockets, by I used my mad skills to hit them with the Gripen's cruise missiles by releasing them as I'm about to hit the column, then flying past it in a couple of meters like a boss.

Writing original endings instead of being faithful is how you get messes like Kuma Miko, or DxD S3. Going original, they risk pissing off the author and gaining bad rep (look how TNK declined HARD after losing DxD due to going mostly original for S3. Considering all of the elements it takes from shitty genres, I'm still surprised that this turned out as good as it did. MC is pretty cool and has his own motivations, all the girls have their own appeal, the harem isn't a harem at all and MC just has one plane and one future baby factory, enemies actually seem mysterious and threatening enough to drive the plot, and the action scenes were all pretty hype despite being relatively short and to-the-point. I would have liked to see more Eagle, but I can't even say she was underutilized, I just want more of her. It's a shame we have to settle for the standard LN ad ending, but it was still one of the best shows this season.

I started this show for her, and she gets completely neglected by the writers. Like i love the F-15 so i was ready to be a huge eaglefag, but aside from a cute design there was no substance to her character. she needed like 1-2 episodes to develop her at least a little. An anima can do much more than a human bean pilot (not with Kei on board though).
While we're at it, you can finally manually perform post-stall maneuvers in Ass Combat 7 (you could do them Assault Horizon with QTE). Seems to be completely useless, but it's fun doing tricks regardless. I still haven't unlocked a plane with thrust vectoring though (even the F-18 can do the cobra, but it's too limited).

You're probably correct, and given that the Xi were able to subvert the Brawlers (hack is the wrong word) by manipulating their EPCM patterns to control their action, it would seem that a reasonably robust IFF system would fix it, or a near IR/visible/UV laser comm system to make field adjustments to beat the EPCM manipulation.

i'm not sure how old your sources are, but block 3F capable F-35's are perfectly capable of high alpha, high speed, low altitude manuevering without spontaneous combustion.

this was not due to the usage of JP8 as coolant, but rather excessive material fatigue from rubbing between the seal and fan blisk/fan stator, which caused excess heat to build up in materials not designed to be exposed to temperatures above 1,000 degree fahrenheit.
