Uhhh so basically Nen is spirit energy that's formed either by being a complete badass or training specifically for it's use. Even the most basic form of Nen which is just "I coat my body in Nen to punch hard" has wild and varied applications. One of the many selling points of Nen is that it can be controlled after death for various uses that generally break the limits of what one could use while they were alive, as evidenced here. Hisoka's Bungee Gum has both the properties of Rubber and Gum, and so when he got choked out, his dying wish to his Nen was to compress and expand around his heart and lungs so he could breathe again.

It's actually not an asspull, especially considering all the other nen abilities and whatnot we see in the series but it was pretty much the first time it happened and damn near looked like a specialist ability.

People dispute Hisoka's case because he had suffocated for an unclear amount of time, which would lead to oxygen deprivation brain damage. I don't mind it much though, as nen users have been shown to have more resilient flesh than normals even after death.
What I do have a problem with his how the scene was presented. Something is just weird about Hisoka reviving himself and having a casual chat with Machi, and not in a good way.
Frankly I believe it would have been better if Hisoka's revival had just remained a mystery. Like if the Troupe inspected his corpse, deemed him dead, and left the scene, but then he still showed up at the park to kill Kortopi and Shalnark. It would be way more "Hisoka-like" imo.

It can take minutes before serious organ/brain damage from asphyxiation occurs, and it's not obscene to extend that period for a powerful nen user. A regular person would go into shock and did instantly from having 4 limbs blown off, but no one complains about fictional characters being able to survive it.

Reiner could have easily been written into a slightly different scenario where he was forced to transform without the nervous system transfer.
And the moment in that pic could have made more sense if the Armored Titan's brain was a copy of Reiner's and served as the "blueprint" for regeneration.
Isayama obviously wanted Reiner to be a persistent enemy for the corps. I don't mind Reiner jobbing a lot in this arc since he more or less shows how far the corps have come at this point in the story, but nonsensical excuses for his survival are disappointing
