The anime is taking the manga's storyline and reshaping it, to the point you wonder if you aren't watching a completely original show. Saying that it is a "disappointing adaptation" is fundamentally wrong because doing a 1:1 adaptation was never their intention to begin with.

Dororo, such a great anime. You made the right choice, just like with Violet Evergarden for winter 2018.

Dororo was only good until episode 7, at which point the budget ran out and it jumped the shark simultaneously. Boogiepop was interesting, but also lost focus along the way.

Mob is the only one that has been consistently okay, so let's go with that one.

Honorary mentions go to 5toubun and Kaguya for being adequately made adaptions.

This year is looking better than last year, but we're still drowning in garbage.

I think Mob's been consistently great more so than Dororo but both stand out easily in this sea of mediocrity. Definitely one of these two.

I think part of the problem I have with judging them is that Dororo is only halfway through. Mob obviously feels like a more complete story at the moment since there's only an episode left.

Yeah, and I feel like it would also be shitty for Mob to get it and then Dororo ends up really tying its storyline together and havign a great payoff. I kind of feel like shows should be judged in the season of their completion only, but that's not how it goes.

I loved My Roommate is a Cat, Kemurikusa, Endro, Kotobuki and Gotoubun but I have to accept that Kaguya-sama should be AOTS.
