No, I wouldn’t put it behind normalfags to drop it after the first couple episodes. I showed it to a few friends from an anime club I was in when I was in highschool and half of them only remembered the damn hotspring scene and dropped it because it was too dumb. (They spent the next session watching Fairy Tail the whole time, btw). They’ve got no sense of satire and they can’t handle anything above “ “B-baka!” *character falls over after someone says something stupid* ” Honestly, it’s baffling. They can’t even handle basic wordplay in Japanese, let alone the rapid-fire visual gags that come with SZS. Not to mention, “it doesn’t have any point or moral (aka, the power of friendship/yaoi/edge), so cleeeearly it’s not as good as a masterpiece like FairyTail or SAO”

Well, jokes on you; I haven't read Metamorphosis at all. So no, this is not me smelling my own farts. Either you get the 'joke' that Kafuka Fuura woke up one day as multiple individuals, or you don't. Either you understand why certain characters wear traditional Japanese clothing, or you're completely confused by it. There are lots of anime that are very Japanese and insert highbrow intellectual references but are still easy to get into (cliche as they are, NGE and Haruhi Suzumiya are good examples); and there are others that are almost impenetrable to anyone who doesn't have the patience to just accept certain things belong to a culture not their own.

And really, the biggest turn off for normalfags isn't the literary references or the Jap shit, it's the fact an adult ends the story marrying his entire class.

I don't like how Chie got dropped after the first 10 or so chapters and didn't start showing up semi-regularly until chapter 200 or so. Something similar happened with Rin, but Rin didn't get introduced until later so it wasn't as noticeable. They were both great characters.

Yeah, its subs and the rips are pretty crappy. I don't know how well you can sub in english but I'm sure everyone here would love to have a version of Paniponi Dash that isn't somewhat questionable from time to time.
If you've gotten good at cleaning up all the background text in SZS, then the background text in PPD should be relatively simile. Shaft never went as far as they did in SZS with that stuff.

I only suggested it in jest.I do not know how PPD fares with Spanish subs since I'm an EOP. The series is known for having a fuckton of references and meta-humor. So many in fact I think the fan subbers released a .pdf for each episode IIRC.

Honestly, the Shinbo/SHAFT run for the 00s is insane:

Yeah, they struck out with Meikakucity, LE, and Sasami-san, but you can blame the first two on the material and the third is underrated as fuck.

Eh, I dont like any of shafts newer anime at all. I would say from 2004/5 to 2012/13 Shaft was at their absolute peak and their anime from this time is what got me into anime in the first place.

Dont get me wrong, I still absolutely love the continued adaptions of the Monogatari series, but everything else they have done since I guess the beginning of 2014 I just havent liked.

I think that was just Kafka being a ditz, since in the first episode she nearly broke Nozomu's neck trying to get him off the noose. At that point, I think the series was still finding itself. After all, how many times was Kaere's multiple personality disorder really used after it was introduced? Dear user translating SZS from English to Spanish...

I (and probably some other anons here too) remember watching the first fansub of Digimon Tamers circa 2009-2010, due to no real sub group wanted to touch it, it was translated by a spanish speaking user, from the very accurate spanish dub. Eventually, 40 or so episodes into it, a real translator started the project.

Digimon Tamers existed in this weird place where the dub wasn't heavily storyline or content censored, but was just inaccurate and added additional dialogue. In 2009 it was one of the only big shoujo animes from that era that was impossible to get a sub of. The rights holders were only interested in distributing the dub, because as I recall, they weren't in the anime business.

I would argue that the first malicious thing she did was in the pool/spying arc where she asked Nozomu to take a picture. Then when a woman accused him of taking creep shots, Kafuka quickly ran away instead of explaining the situation. This continued for the rest of the series where she would frequently set him up like that. Despite that, he still remained in love with her.
