A lot of people seem to forget that the billion berry jump was not just because of attacking Big Mom's territory and defeating Cracker and Katakuri. In the same chapter, as the narrator is talking, he mentions that word got out about Luffy having an entire fleet at his disposal thanks to people like Cavendish and Bartolomeo blabbing to the press. On top of that people found out that he has even more connection to the revolutionaries than previously thought with Sabo being his sworn brother. It's also depicted that Luffy specifically commanded Germa, the Sun Pirates and the Fire Tanks, which is yet another boost in Luffy's perceived number of subordinates. Essentially, the billion jump is a result of people thinking that Luffy has a giant armada now, in addition to his crazy feats.

Not mad at you in particular or anything, but it's something that I've seen people gloss over a lot and it bugs me.

Nothing will ever replace One Piece for me, but more great stories will come and go when you least expect it. It'll suck to not have that one series you could reliably look forward to every week though. Whenever you lose something like that there's a pretty big empty feeling that only goes away once you make yourself move on. I had to cope with a similar feeling when Toriko ended.

At the very least, there's a shitton of long-running mysteries in One Piece that have yet to be resolved, so even if that was the case there'd still be other massive plot threads like what happened during the Void Century or what Raftel is that would still definitely get resolved by the end of the series.

Oda says he hates Wizard of Oz style endings that don't have a full on physical reward though, so I think he's at the very least going to have the One Piece result in something actually happening in the story.

I downloaded one of the most recent episodes of One Piece and it looks like the quality of animation has improved and the music is similar to earlier seasons. I jumped on the series around the time Stain was introduced in the manga, ever since chapter 100 or so it hasn't really captivated me in the same way that it did before.

I feel like Horikoshi kneels to his editors too much, all the "cool" characters like Bakugo, Todoroki, and Kirishima get more and more spotlight, and a rando like Shinshou is being brought into the fold as well. Deku's formula of being scared but growing and then breaking his bones but getting them fixed gets tiring too, and it's sad cause I honestly loved him as a lead earlier on. It's just a lack of progression is all, it frustrates me. I think he kinda dropped the ball on having All Might give up the mantle so early too, but I digress.

I officially dropped it after O MY SEVEN QUIRKS happened

All Might vs All For One was the peak of the series. Everything else just feels like aimless filler with no satisfying payoff.
