Endro's my surprise since the Ueno manga was sick.

Meguca Spec Ops was a huge letdown; it was nowhere near as fun as Killing Bites for me.

As said, not my cup of tea but all the power to those who liked it.

Production and design wise Ueno looked nice and motivated me to watch Ep 1 but I got grossed out by it's brand of humour. Reminds me of Mysterious Girlfriend X (all the deal with FeMC's saliva, eww).

I liked the relaxed atmosphere and comfy SoL ambience. Also despite being a parent like show it refrained to rely on lewd humour which is a massive plus for me.

Went in expecting an Uzamaid ripoff (which was the biggest disappointment of Fall 2018 for me). Turned out to be a cute and wholesome show with realistic characters and great writing.

Disappointment: Kemurikusa

Didn't really have any disappointments since I wasn't anticipating sticking with anything other than Jojo. The first episode of Kemurikusa nearly put me to sleep though. It wasn't really bad, it's just boring.

Kemurikusa: I wasn't sure what to expect or whether Tatsuki would prove himself to be more than a one-hit wonder. I was very skeptical of him taking on an original work and of the show's general premise. The first few episodes were a little iffy, but with each successive one i liked the show more and more. Now I am on the edge of my seat waiting for tomorrow's episode to see how it all resolves. Tatsuki is definitely a very talented guy.

I did not watch Kemono Friends 2, but the entire circumstances surrounding its existence and franchise are a letdown to me after how much I loved the first season. From what I've seen scrolling past the threads, I didn't miss much by skipping it.

9-10 episodic chapters, no educational segment, etc. At this point is a normal cgdct anime with a final conflict bad crafted and fetish fuel for doujins.

Definitely Dororo. When I heard the animation wasn't going to be like the preview and wouldn't look like the original manga, I was a little sad. I was excited to see an artstyle that actually felt unique again, and even the opening shows it would have worked fine. Even so, that aside the absolute rock solid writing and vast improvements to the story the adaptation made more than made up for it, and its easily one of the best anime in several seasons now .

Shield hero. Such an interesting start, and I don't mean the false rape thing but the whole idea of a guy being a bitter dick while also being a hero and needing to survive with a weapon he can't fight with, but quickly devolved down rather fast. It's not bad, or at least not the worst, but I was expecting something more I suppose.

Boogiepop- godly OP music, started poor but luckily I dont follow the 3 ep rule and got so much better after the first arc was done.
Ueno- low expectations, high rewards series with amazing animation and VA work. really gonna miss it.
My Roomate is a Cat- for a shojo series it was pretty good, had some intense feels.

Let down:
The Price of Smiles- Nobody told me I had to pay with my time and smile.
Pastel Memories- the ED was godly but the rest was like watching a Saturday cartoon in the 10am slot.

I didn't even spot this one until about a month after the season had started, but it was a good pick-up. It's something nice, light not referring to feels here, and comfy that I can look forward to every week.

I made an effort to ignore it as much as possible for the first 6 or so weeks out of spite since i thought it was another fucking generic Isekai. Then i gave it a shot. Didn't expect Naofumi to be so easy to root for. Might have something to do with the fact that he's a real human bean instead of another fucking Jesus-kun.

was expecting kick-ass air combat w/ kick-ass cute fighter pilot girls going on an adventure. While it sorta did that, almost none of the MCs were likeable besides maybe pancake grill. hell, most of the MCs seemed like badly cobbled-together stereotypes that someone tried to pass off as actual characters. Not to mention every single male character being a bad caricature straight out of some low-effort feminazi propaganda. At least the air-combat didn't disappoint. dropped by ep3
-Circlet Princess
I don't even want to talk about this one. I went into it expecting something that wasn't a tire-fire. I want that hour and change back. dropped at ep3, only ever got that far because I follow the 3 episode rule religiously.
-Egao no Daika
first four episodes: enjoying the hell out of this show, thinking, "this might just be the sleeper hit of the season." It should've gotten more attention since it started earlier than almost everything else, but Boogiepop aired on the same day so it got overshadowed. Around here, the threads were super interesting and active, had me surprised that Yea Forums was enjoying an original mecha anime. /m/ hated it because their token hot-blooded shounen mecha protag died in episode 2 lmao. there was some fun speculah too.
eps 5-7: see pic eps 8-12: egaocoin crashed, lost everything, the writers are hacks.

If you watched the episode 1 of Wataten you already watched the entire 12 episodes, now if you liked the first episode I guess that you would like the rest too.

Kakegurui: just didn't strike me as interesting the second time around

Surprise: Dororo. I went in because I saw someone mention it and I was bored. ended up binging about 7 eps in one night, now it's easily one of my favorites.

Let down, idk, probably shield hero. it had me interested and somewhat hooked for a few eps and then interest died hard. i considered dropping it but it's still got me interested enough to see where it goes i guess

People of cultured taste. Everything about this show works, just, an infinitude of times better than it has any right to. So great. Strong second place goes to Rinshi!! Ekoda-chan for scratching my artsy itch and constantly surprising me in the back half of the season.

The disappointment is definitely the long-delayed second half of Piano no Mori, which has QUALITY issues that beggar belief. (Compare and contrast the dog that briefly appears in that show with the cats in My Roommate, and you'll have a little class in what not to do when making animation.) I would have been better served just listening to some Chopin without the aggressively ugly images.

Disappointment is not enough to describe it.

Here's the gist of it:
-9 novels + original scenes crammed into a 26 episode season.
-It was originally supposed to be only 24 episodes but the director begged to add 2 more episodes
-Add the fact that the director was never brilliant
-bland backgrounds,
-uninspired storyboarding of scenes (some scenes are literally just copies of the illustrations from the novels),
-lost of the original sound director (so the iconic IB sound and the sound of Accel redirecting thing is completely gone
-laughably bad animation

And you have a recipe of a massive clusterfuck of a disaster that satisfies neither anime-onlys or LNfags.

I think everyone who watched the Wataten finale was surprised. No one could expect a 16 minuet musical.

I saw post that said 2ch planned to protest at festival, did it already happened?

Ueno-san too. I was expecting every week for a new episode and wasn't disappointed. I just didn't want it to end.

Letdown:
Kaguya sama. I heard from my friends that it was top tier and all that shit and I just found an over the top romantic comedy that's super predictable.
