Anyone going to the showings today? Apparently they're showing all over murrika.

Why do burgers like it so much?

Burgers are fucking weebs, but they're still not winning against the italians and frogs.

Some cast announcements from this month

So why aren't they showing the show in Italy or France?

Attached: IMG_20190326_193406.jpg (1920x1080, 192K)

Let me rephrase that: burgers are casual weebs, italians and frenchiesn are actual weebs. USA has 10x the population of these countries though.

Why do the burgers like this show so much that they can screen it all over there?

what states
I cant find

I can't give the perspective of an actual burger but Fruits Basket was pretty popular all over the world but I do remember it topping the NYT rankings back when TOKYOPOP was publishing it.
Why? it has tons of comedy, drama, romance, likeable characters and interesting developments, with all these things mixed it not only attracted anime fans but some other casual people.

>Why do the burgers like this show so much that they can screen it all over there?

The manga blew the comic doors open with "hey, a huge chunk of girls DO read comics", and Fruits Basket one of the pioneers

It also put Tokyopop on the map along with the entire manga industry. The anime followed soon after

There's this rumor about Tokyopop filling for bankruptcy after FB ended.

NO RITSUKO=NO WATCH
Seriously I wonder what the new OP will be like, if it'll try to emulate the old one in any way or be some totally different upbeat generic jpop song or something

the original's opening was absolute comfy

>Takahiro Sakurai as Ayame
FUCK I must see this

One line so far but sounds pretty good
youtu.be/bIcQIZUarjY

I remember meeting a girl in college who did her dissertation on anime analysis, or some bullshit like that, and a large majority of it was on Fruits Basket. She was a massive fujo and loved shit with triangle relationships and cuck shit.

Give up, they'll use a catchy but forgettable pop song by some cute literal who idol

Are these supposed to be men? Maybe the 'all women are lesbians' shit was true.

I get Ayame because they often say he's delicate but why the fuck would you think the other one looks like a woman?

>Apparently they're showing all over murrika
except they're not

>Showings in 19 states
That's a lot

Tokyopop and Funimation both pushed the shit out of this series in the early 2000s, so much so it was the best selling manga and anime in the US for a period knocking Sailor Moon off her perch. It's pretty good.

ayame is actually a repressed tranny

I love that Japan promotes the series by saying it's got an ALL NEW CAST when in the US Funimation has announced that for the English dub they have dragged back all the OLD ORIGINAL CAST to dub the new series.

Im sad old Momiji is not back

Ayame is actually the best Sohma and has the cutest kids

Reminder that Takaya knows age gaps are the best form of love:
>MC's parents married when the girl was around 14.
>Rin and Haru have a 2 year gap, older female.
>Kureno and Arisa have a 9 year gap, older male.
>Shigure and Akito have a 8 year gap, older male.
>In the sequel, the MC is in love with a pre-teen and they're the only couple in the series (15 yr old girl with 12 yr old boy)

New Momiji is on fucking point.

How are nu-weebs even going to handle this? You'd think they'd be screaming about pedophilia and "feeling uncomfortable" once they find out.

Even old weebs are already complaining

fucking hell
When the manga was being published no-one paid attention to crap like that, thankfully. And having interesting relationships that break the norm has always been one of the selling points of shoujo.

You forgot the goth and the cats old man getting it on. there is like a good 40 year gap there.

There's the issue with most of them being related in some way too. I am definitely not looking forward to the anime only purists that will show up.

Retconned, Saki later married a gringo. Pic related, the kid on left.

Kid on left it's her son*

Just this is good enough. Absolutely fantastic.

>shoujoshit
yikes

go damn it we need to clone ritsuko

Wont a women VA ruin the plo twist?

It was a woman last time.

For those that haven't seen the original anime or read the manga, this really does pick up as it gets past the earlier volumes and embraces itself further as a drama.
But its been a long time, 30 something now and haven't read/seen it since my teenage years, don't know if its going to holdup.
I'm also wondering, was Kare Kano a better manga than it?

I like the new characters designs, the art in the manga changed as it went on, I can see why someone wouldn't like the art at the start.

Why on earth do I find Tohru attractive?

Not sorry for blog, won't be bullied for it.

Is Tohru ACTUALLY flat/small chested or is it another one of the cases where the boobs are overly covered by the uniform?
Serious annoys the fuck out of me.

i didn't like the manga but loved the anime

The manga for Kare Kano got bad after a certain point, it focused on side characters that weren't all that interesting and I remember hating how melodrama it got later on.

What a cute young man

Every 30+ years old person I know is excited about this.

>I'm also wondering, was Kare Kano a better manga than it?
KareKano was mostly good because the anime directed by Anno was a masterpiece (which the author hated). The manga is okay but you'll absolutely hate everyone but the side characters at some point.
So no, Fruits Basket is far better.

Absolutely cute male (female)

I went to the JP screenings and it was mostly ladies older than 25, their boyfriends/husbands and even some kids following them. It was kind of cute.

She's a very modest girl

No it wasn't, it was a guy in the 2001 anime.

ayy lmao

Pls don't bully Takaya-sensei, her art will never be the same after the hand fuckup

Don't forget Hanajima who fell for Kyo's stepdad, who's like 30 fucking years older

Attached: Screenshot_2019-03-25-00-35-16~2.png (1074x1527, 945K)

You think we'll get a camrip? I know the Broly movie got a decent-looking one.

>camrip of a dub
Never. Tomorrow someone might make one though (the subbed screenings)

hadn’t read/watched fruba since forever ago, but it was a good time, and there was unexpected free stuff

How was it?

Why are the bothering to remake this? Plenty of other more deserving picks. Also to chime in with the other anons, all the ‘girls’ I met throughout the mid 00’s were obsessed with this. I remember a few who were always trying to get people to do fan dubs.

i hadn’t watched the dub before, but it was still very enjoyable with a similar feel to what i remembered. but they didn’t include any op/ed. really hoping the music will stay comfy.

It was the 20th anniversary, that's why they're remaking it.
If your "more deserving" franchise is not popular enough, then it's not my problem.

Because it's a cute shoujo with a surprising amount of depth. What, do you want another version of Hana Yori Dango? It technically "deserves" it more since it's the best selling shoujo in Japan.

>another version of Hana Yori Dango
Not that user but kill it with fire. This terrible series ruined shoujo for decades to come.

There is something distinctly wrong with grown men pining over Shoujo. It had to be said.

Most of this grown men were teenagers when they became fans though, this is a classic.

>after the hand fuckup
???

>were obsessed with this
i learned japanese just so i can watch furuba raw, they just don't make shoujo anime like they used to

>he says on the board with regular Precure and Aikatsu threads

Fuck no he looks like a generic shota. I wanted Momiji to look like the fashionable bishonen with sharper features he was in the first volumes.

Yeah but Maaya is known for androgynous characters. Chrona, Haruhi, and even Ciel dresses like a girl sometimes.

At some point she was hospitalised because she broke her left hand or left wrist, and she's left-handed. She had to get surgery and take a break from the series for some months, and the reason why there's a short bonus story at the end of volume 9 is because she made it to see if she could draw well enough again to go back to work and continue the manga. It's really easy to notice since when volume her art got sloppy and weird when you learn about the surgery.

Anyway, I'm glad the anime has a different artstyle from the manga, I love the art from the first volumes but the art from after the first 10 volumes or so is really not my cup of tea.

Brown hair was much cuter
