Daily Aria Chapter
Ara ara x1
Ara ara x2
Hahi x1
Momiko x1
Momiko x2
Good, I was hoping for some dork bullying.
Momiko x3
Momiko x4
Sexual harassment kinshi!
Momiko x5
Momiko x6
前略
A strong start for Akatsuki. Or maybe a fiery start? Even if his head is oddly square.
Catchphrase Counter:
Hahi: 9
Ara ara: 7
Momiko: 6
Kinshi: 3
This also includes the one that was missed yesterday.
Maybe I should also explain the rules. It must be a minimum of two full aras to count. A single ara or even an arara is no good. And an ara ara ara only counts as one.
Insert art like this page doesn't add to the count.
It does not matter who says the phrase, unless it is either a direct quote or part of a tsukkomi.
Puinyu isn't being counted since it's the only thing he says. We'd just have a counter for how many lines he has. Woody's is disqualified for similar reasons.
Each character gets one catchprase.
Thanks OP. I had been putting off watching or reading it for a long time because of how much it's praised but this is actually pretty good.
Thanks m8
I think this is the part where it's still pretty ordinary. It doesn't really get great until all the characters are introduced and just keeps going up from there.
MOMIKO
Akatsuki looks like a minor villain in a samurai manga
He fights with the strength and speed of a pony.
Thanks OP
and the worst boy appears.
Get back to training, Aika.
Samurai has a crush.
He really is the worst, though. Who the fuck touches people they don't even know?
>not pulling cute girls' pigtails on the street
Thanks OP
Are they even pigtails? They look more like a payot.
Thank you!
These threads sure die fast. I thought being Aria it would be more lively.
I think the average Aria fan is more busy with real life and can't be around to post as much. Like with YKK.
Thanks as always user.
I have to say that this translation is simply inconsistent, they're translating the ara ara and the others character's catchprase(Thanks OP for keeping count, I'll miss them otherwise) and then in
>The super noko of legend
>Note: Noko means turtle
And they've left the ganbatte as is in the last chapter.
Also, btw, what's up with the zenryaku at the beggining of the chapters?
I want to touch Akari's hair too.
Yeah, sometimes the threads dies before I can read the chapter, or before I finish and want to post. That happened to the YKK threads too, and the last chapter thread lasted like 3 days or so.
I really enjoy Aria and find these threads pleasantly comfy, but I feel like I don't really have much to add.
where is the ara ara here, are you committing ara ara fraud? that is a serious charge...
How long would it take for you to drive/take a train/fly to Venice/Venezia/Venedig/Venecia/etc. RIGHT NOW
Just shy of 10 hours.
2-3 hours
Cheeky Akari.
13 hours.
They improve at the start of the next volume. I don't want to talk bad about the translators who worked on this, but that was normal 15 years ago.
The catchphrases are always going to be difficult. Maybe you could get away with leaving hahi and ara ara untranslated, but things like kinshi and dekkai would never work. But having no consistency is the worst of both.
The worst part is noko doesn't even mean turtle. For now, all you can do is gaman through all the nihongo kotoba.
Zenryaku or 前略 is a weird Japanese thing, but let's just say it's the introduction in a letter. Why they left it untranslated, no one knows. Eventually, you'll see it replaced with a "Dear penpal".
No fraud here, only honest ara aras. The "oh my" in panel 4.
oh shit, i didn't notice it because it wasn't stand alone, my bad.
maybe the translation is inconsistent within itself because different people worked on different parts?
if i started right now, it would only take me several months to save up the money for a plane ticket.
I don't think so, it's the same people listed on the credits page in every chapter.
well, i can't explain why anyone would translate prima as full-time but leave ganbatte as it is. i'm still going to image that it is so.
Thanks
The top panel of this is notably adorable.
Reminds me of this old image.
pretty cool how her oar cuts the panel in half
I haven't watched or read Aria before so these threads are fun for me, I already really like this series. However, I'm guessing a majority of people ITT have watched the anime adaptation or read the manga at some point before, so there isn't a lot of room for discussion or speculation when they already know what will happen. For example: the samurai guy introduced in this chapter. If we were all seeing this for the first time we could probably have some speculative discussion as to what his role in the story will be, what his job is, the possibility of romance between him and Akari, etc. But most people ITT already know what will become of this guy because they've seen it before.
I'll start posting my first impressions to liven up the threads a little bit.
Firstly: Akari was very adorable getting bullied by samurai. I hope he returns and makes fun of her hair more. And I know he will, because he totally has a crush on her.
I also really like the "casual" approach to the sci-fi elements of the setting. I'm not sure how to explain it, but the way information like the 24 month long year or the existence of floating islands that control the weather is presented in a very matter-of-fact way, as if it were normal, which makes it feel a lot more like part of their daily life on Mars/Aqua. It's kind of like how we don't really care about being able to make phone calls with people around the world or access entire libraries of information in our pocket because it's just part of our lifestyle.
My favorite chapter so far was the cats in the factory, because the giant cat at the end was funny
At least for me, it's been so long since I first read this that it's interesting to see what it's like for someone's first time.
Much appreciated OP.
It'd take me about 6 hours to get a train from here to Paris. Then I'd have to wait for the night train from the Gare du Lyon, which would arrive at Venise Santa Lucia at around 9:30ish. But its punctuality isn't the best.
anime is very good too, give that a shot after the manga as well. most people here prefer the later anime but I prefer the earlier seasons. The last season has better character animation but also a lot of CG models for things like buildings and windmills, and they stand out.
It's also relatively old series and having peaceful everyday life theme, of course it won't be full of lively discussions
Hey the thread’s still up, cool. Thanks a lot op.
