People always compare chocomint to toothpaste, but personally I thought it tasted more like mouthwash.

Mint existed before toothpaste, for example mint tea, mint herbs to season lamb. Why do so many people have an aversion to toothpaste? Imagine if historically toothpaste was coffee flavored, these faggots would be like "Coffee is disgusting it taste like toothpaste".

Yuri on Ice made me learn to cook Katsudon, and Shokugeki gave me an appreciation for buckweat grain (as accompaniment or just as something I sprinkle on my yogurt, don't ask, it's just good) and anchoiade. Also helped me a lot in my cooking in general.
I often make japanese rice as accompaniment and sometimes I'll make onigiri. Either salmon or shrimp mayonnaise flavored. And even when I make normal rice I'll cook it the japanese way, by absorption, simply because I got the hang of it and it just tastes that much better this way. Texture is better too.

Also Chocomint is absolutely delicious

It depends on the education of your tongue. If you were conditionned your whole life to believe mint flavored stuff ought to be spit in a sink, because mouth cleansing products were pretty much the only way you got to experience mint, then yes, it's gonna be difficult to appreciate mint as a flavor.
