What got you into anime Yea Forums?
people talked about sword art online on this minecraft server a lot so i wanted to know what the fuss was about
I was searching a Megaman Zero anime and found Zero no Tsukaima
Dragonball manga and then dragonball Z when it started airing in my country
Sailor moon, then Toonami
Shitposting and reaction faces.
To Love Ru and Haruhi
April 2006 was a good month
I was really bored in 2016 so started binging anime but my first anime was probably Pokemon back in 2000. I used to think they were american cartoons for the longest time and didnt even know what a "Japan" even was.
I started watching anime to fit in on /g/. Sasami-san@ganbaranai was airing at the time and the first show to get me into it.
Sailor moon and Pokemon were cool, but it probably started for real with some early Bleach clips on IRC and then Cowboy Bebop when it first spread online.
in b4 babby's first anime starter pack
Mobile Fighter G Gundam and my pursuit to find more shows that were visually similar to thundercats led me further into the genre where I found toonami. From there it was a slippery and embarrassing trip through adolescence
I was always like that. Then I was a little child candy Cnady, UFO Robot Grendaizer and Sailor Moon looked more appealing then the other cartoons, and I kept looking for things of that kind ever since.
I didnt know what anime was until i watched Dokuro-chan i thought it was some chinese cartoon. Turns out i watched plenty of anime before it like naruto, sonic x, shaman king, only localised versions.
I was always filthy weeb in the making since all my favorite shows were just dubbed anime shows like samurai pizza cats, kamen rider, power rangers, beetkeborgs, Shaman king, beyblade, b-daman, CCS, sailormoon, DBZ, digimon and all the other toonami shows, but didn't start watching subbed anime untill my brother showed me when I was like 9 or something the first Nardo VS Sasuke fight on youtube.
I was immediately into that and binged the entire show on youtube, from there I just watched all kinds of shit that was recommended on the youtube playlists and I just watched all kinds of series.
From DNAngel to Rizelmine.
I was looking for ecchi to fap to and found a blog in wordpress about ecchi shows reviews, i used to watch ikkitousen ovas on dailymotion and stumbled upon Sekirei, the first anime i watched full out of my own will and loved it.
>tfw no more battle harem anime
Those were really good times.
Ranma 1/2
actively searching it was for scryed
random elfen lied and dokuro-chan clips on youtube
pokeymens, later learned what anime was, became an actuall weeb, back to normal and then long time ago came back to anime
I saw my cousin watching Evangelion and asked him about it
He explained to me what anime was and lent me a bunch of CDs with 2x2 Shinobuden on them, which got me hooked
That was what, 12 years ago? Fuck me, time flies fast
I remember back than it was hard to find decent video on youtube about anime. it was mostly shitty AMVs with linking park ost.
First 2 were dokoro-chan and black lagoon. can't remember which was first
G Gundam and Dragonball Z on Toonami
There are 3 different "phases" of how I got into anime
-Watching Pokemon, Digimon, all those edited shows on basic TV
-Getting cable and watching stuff like Toonami and Sci-Fi's anime block. Also, my friend who had a shit ton of bootleg anime, exposed me to the wider world
-Watching Naruto on Toonami, it went on break before the chuunin exams were about to start and I wanted more. I then discovered subbed Naruto on Youtube (back when people would upload full episodes to YT in 3 parts remember that?) and this is where I consider myself as truly into anime and understanding what the medium is
wtf you guys are like 40 y olds
Was it?
I remember watching entire series on youtube.
Like the first seasons of Shakugan no Shana, zero no tsukaima, magikano, Maburaho, mahoraba, rizelmine, dnangel and many more.
Hell I even binged and watched week to week the entirity of part 1 Naruto on youtube back then.
My other experiences with anime were naturally stuff that aired on cartoon network, toonami, fox kids/jetix, and watched a few ovas like Ninja Scroll, GiTS and Gun x Sword on DVD but i didn't pick them up at the moment.
I guess i was drawn into anime particularly by Carmen99's tits.
Saint Seiya and Dragonball growing up, the old Toonami block in the early 2000s with Gundam 08th MS Team, DBZ, Outlaw Star, etc., and finally, what really got me into downloading anime was watching Excel Saga at my high school anime club. I found it so funny that I didn't want to wait until the next sessions, especially since I was enjoying it more than everyone else (bunch of faggots that would rather watch Fruit Basket for the 20th time instead) so I found a website that had the episodes for DDL and I grabbed them. In order to earn downloads, you had to post in the forums so I did and eventually started making friends and whatever. Those friends got me to watch anime as it aired, starting with Gundam Seed Destiny while also catching up on some stuff I had missed like Fate/Stay Night (it had recently come out at that point) and Nanoha. The rest is history, though I didn't start visiting this place until around 2011 or so, once the forums I visited started dying.
Sakura Card captor, Dr Slump, Digimon, zoids and Ranma 1/2 aired on taco TV when I was a kid.( Also Dragon ball but I never really cared).
Then when I got cable I watched Digimon 3, Inuyasha Shaman king but what really made me a filthy weeb was a Anime only cable channel that aired Eva, HxH, Blood+, Nodame Cantabile and others.
Then I found some Anime store, got a crush on some cosplayer store attendant and spiraled into Yea Forums shit posting trash.
Honestly, the kirino butt wiggle gif. A degenerate start to a long happy relationship
Remember when Kenichi aired on Zaz? Man i remember watching it with my brother "for the plot" and fapping to Shigure afterwards.
No youtube for me. After having been shown those 2 i downloaded what i could from the university filesharing network, then onto direct downloads and actually buying stuff
I was going to ask if this thread is filled with children. Being on Yea Forums and getting interested in anime in 2016 sounds crazy to me.
I'm not 40 yet, though.
I was like still in elementary school when I watched stuff on youtube so I had no money and I wasn't allowed to download stuff on the family computer.
When youtube started getting more strict on uploading episodes of shit I moved on to Veoh and afterwards to ctunchyroll before they became all jewish.
>be me
>weeb neighbor visits
>weeb neighbor can’t stfu with highschool of the dead
>get tired of his bs and decide to watch it
>likes it
>becomes a fucking weeb
>profit
What are you talking about there is only one poster claiming he got interested in anime in 2016, most of us come from 00's
How old are you? Most of the people here got into anime around 2006-2007. Those were pretty good years, everything has gone to shit ever since.
i miss then most anime's would get proper endings. Nowdays it's mostly BUY LN/MANGA endings.
But they were not proper. Hellsing, or Soul Eater, or your name it - I'd rather have no ending and be refered to manga directly then have a shit ending like this.
How old are you and when did you get into anime(actively searching for subbed anime)
22 and 2005 for me.
This guy here, I was about 14 when GSD started airing and I remember downloading and looking forward to each episode as it came out and discussing it on forums, but I did have to catch up to the first half of the show, so probably 15. I downloaded Excel Saga first, so maybe 14 when I did that.
LN are the cancer killing anime.
14 in 2009 when Sekirei had aired.
