I marathoned all the episodes last week and can't wait. I don't know why I put it off because I love sports anime. I remember seeing ratings early on, and they weren't very high, so I figured it was more on the level and quality of that one biking anime than top series like Haikyuu or Chihayafuru. Honestly one of the best sports anime I've seen. I wish I had been in the threads all season, but I'm here now.

I was joking. A show about dudes running isn't up my alley and that seems to be a common sentiment on Yea Forums. I feel like most people who watch anime don't watch it for realistic drama, same reason why rakugo and sangatsu no lion aren't that popular despite being almost unanimously loved by the people who do watch them.

There's really no fanservice, and all the guys are straight and like girls. Just a lot of motivation and hard work without magic sports shit too.

I already watched it live, so I'll spoiler: They changed the bittersweet ending to a happy one. I hope no one caught the earlier post. I only had one job, fuck. I'm glad they did it, but it makes all the teases they did earlier kind of shitty.

It was mostly the same, but they made a bigger deal out of Haiji's knee during the race, and Kakeru never found out the answer to what running was. He just keeps mulling over it forever because Haiji fucked up his knee.

I'll give it a 7.5. The last five episodes were a fantastic payoff but I didn't like the start much and the middle was just alright. Almost dropped it several times, though I'm glad I didn't. It's not a surprise to me that this show is unfortunately unpopular.

I don't think a show has ever moved me like this in years. The whole journey has been so emotional and satisfying. Their struggle, their personal issues, their hard work and their companionship truly made this one of the most rewarding shows I've ever watched. We were just a few anons, but I'm sure most of us feel blessed to have found such a hidden gem.

I don't know how to feel but this is definitely my favorite anime now. I've never resonated so hard with a show and never been so eager to watch it and see how the story progresses. Same, I really liked Fune wo Amu in the beginning but pretty much lost all interest after the massive time skip. Which kind of brings me to the fact that I'm really pleased that this show went with a happier original ending, I think it wrapped the story way better than what happened in the novel. This is a rare case of an anime adaptation actually improving on the source material, and I'm so glad they went that way instead of blindly following the novel because this is definitely up there with my other favorite series now, and after hearing how things were in the original in these threads I don't think I would've felt this way if the anime just did the same.

I dropped the series last year but caught up to it starting at the beginning of the month. It's truly a fantastic binge watch and will likely gain momentum as a aotyc candidate in the coming months.

I practice martial arts so I run out on the sidewalk all the time. The uneven surfaces and obstacles I may run into help develop my reaction time and quick footwork. Plus it gives you the freedom to run wherever the hell you want, rather than running around the same park for ages.

Try Ultimate Frisbee. The skill ceiling is low, and it's pretty casual; practically made for guys in your case as well as more athletic guys who are getting older. As long as you can catch/throw a frisbee and aren't so fat you can't jog a bit, you'll fit right in.

Yea Haikyuu was fantastic without any ZONE stuff. I always watch the last points in S2 and S3 to get hype. Those rallies are just so good and IG are truly gods of the sports genre. I feel like they're the only studio left that teaches their animators a more realism based approached to movement. But they're still good at getting the action to feel intense and they can still use cartoony movement to make light hearted moments.

Finally getting a new season of Haikyuu probably early 2020. Ace of Diamond is a lot longer than Haikyuu but really has a somewhat similar feel to it at times. They keep it realistically and the protagonist gets their asses handed to them multiple times.

That would have been better, I think. Or at least show a sudden limping in his gait. With that kind of face and how Kakeru immediately knew there should have been more brutal physical signs.

I can't get into Ace no Diamond. The character designs really turn me off and the production values just aren't as good as something like Haikyuu.

His character was to serve as a foil to the team dynamic that was building up in the show. Sakaki runs as an individual and competes as an individual against others. This was how Kakeru ran at first in the series. By the end though everyone on the team now runs for the sake of one another, not for themselves, and its shown by how Kansai basically gives 0 fucks but whatever bs Sakaki is talking about. He fails to grow as a person, and is thus unable to push himself and more crucially his team into top ten, because they have nothing greater to run for than themselves.

Despite the little flaws it may have, this show was heartwarming, wholesome and truly beautiful.
Inspired me deeply, which is what sports anime should aim to do. That's why I can avert of any criticism and just let myself enjoy this feeling of fulfillness I'm having right now.

Powerful show, really moved me. And I'm gonna miss it.

That was a really cool satisfying ending and I enjoyed the threads.

But I still hate running. It's too easy to push oneself and that's overexertion. Overexerting myself makes me violently ill. Prince-tier illness. Oh well, some of us aren't made for it I guess.

I know I'm late to the party, but this was one of the best shows I've seen in awhile! Every time they ran and cheered for each other and as the bonds grew closer it made me tear up remembering days like that. Sharing hard trainings with your friends and the camaraderie that follows it. Every character had development, some more than others, but this wasn't just a regular sports anime and that's one of the reasons it was so great. I love this anime and was glad I followed along with the story while it happened
