Personally, I have no problem with characters "growing up" as long as it's comprehensible and they are proud of their "growth" (pic related). But I understand guys who identify as loli to no longer find the show appealing. Or if you are like me and never attached an "age" to 2d characters, but to see it more in an "she came into existence this way" kind of fashion (e.g. a teenage fairy), then it's also... dissonant to see them change. It feels off. It's for the same reason you grow up from your own teens into your 20s or maybe even 30s and don't find it strange to still be attracted to 2d teens. It's just the way they are. And then 2d girls are still idealized. With many (or most) males preferring female teens. So if a character came into existence in this idealized teenage form (even if early teens)... it's also almost as if many pretend for the female characters growing up to not also have an idealized male of a certain age, themselves. But again... I wouldn't have that much of a problem with "growth" if i can understand them being happy and proud of their "growth." Even if it isn't the ideal state of things. (Aging sucks in general.)

You're exaggerated but it's true StrikerS was the first Nanoha series that wasn't considered an immediate masterpiece. The show is good and where it shines produced some of the best moments in the whole franchise but the flaws of the show are also more noticeable.
My opinion is that the writer wasn't ready to handle the length of the anime (26 episodes) compared with the first two seasons that were half the duration. As a consequence some arcs felt overextended and others felt underdeveloped because of how much was happening simultaneously. StrikerS relies heavily on it's supplementary manga (StrikerS The Comics) to flesh out more of the characters and understand the other better (it's a recommended read if you plan to watch the show).
The series isn't perfect but introduced great iconic characters and as mentioned before when StrikerS is good is really good.

I prefer a different magic system or some occult power the heroes can't handle. The "lol your powers don't work" clause is a cheap plot device that is rarely (if ever) executed well, it cheapens the progress the heroes have made so far and it cheapens the efforts of the antagonist who uses it (as in we know the Huckebein are only a threat because they can negate magic, not because of their strength or skill). I hated it in FORCE and I hated it in Reflection.
The fun the ng is that other than that the FORCE manga had good potential for a good story if allowed to gain momentum, it's only the incredibly dumb concept of the Eclipse that I had to overlook to enjoy the manga.

It doesn't need to be a different School and even if it is you can twist it on it's mechanics. Take Fabia Crozelg from ViVid as example. She's a proper witch instead of a mage who prefers to use curses over spells to great effect. She alone hold the line against many powerful Belka and Mid users by applying strange powers and tricks that took them off guard. That's fresh and challenging but doesn't compromise character identity not development like the zero effect haxx did.
In fact, we can blame the Eclipse of the exact same that ng you were arguing. It made Mod and Bella schools completely irrelevant and forced the heroes to take on completely new powersets and even devices (you know, their sentient companions for three seasons) to the point of being almost unrecognizable. The only one saved from that was Fate who received a proper upgrade that allowed her to keep using Laevatein as intended. Why only she received such privilege? No wonder Fate felt like the most consistent member of the old cast during FORCE.

Not really. One of the main strengths of Mid School is adaptability. It successfully integrated a lot of elements of both Belka and Ancient Belka styles. For the sake of a punchline sometimes things occur that wouldn't be part of the story otherwise, it's just the nature of the genre. Still that doesn't mean that even the exaggerated events in these small stories are all to be taken seriously.
The most playful sides of the characters being portrayed in these 4komas for the sake of a joke is not the same as being out of character, these are just sides of the characters that you normally wouldn't see in a more action oriented story instead of a comedy. Also I don't know if it's right to claim that something official is OOC, because if you think new characteristics of a character are being shown those characteristics would be part of the canon at that moment, I think OOC my only apply to fanworks.

Taking again Carnival Phantasm as exple. The show is pretty funny and takes lots of shot to Canon material but characters act and find themselves on situations that clash heavily with the tone and personalities displayed in their original works (even comedy parts in F/SN aren't as zany as Carnival Phantasm).
I consider this work related to Canon for sure but in the same vein as the Nanoha FORCE Dimension 4koma series which was also official, also written by Tsuzuki and also just taking shots at Canon stuff (like NanoFate gushing over each other after Fate's dashing rescue when Nanoha was about to be decapitated by DeVille). I might change my opinion if an event of Life is adressed or directly influences an event in the main timeline. Until that I'll take such claims with a grain of salt.

You're free to think what you want user, technically going by definition they're canon but it shouldn't change anything since no events of plot relevance happen in Vivid Life (and A la Carte if you want to go there which also has comedy). Also things like Corona being a yuri fan and the other new sides shown of some characters while technically canon they would very likely never get referenced into more serious material, one because they have no place outside comedy and two because the franchise is probably dead.

My internet connections the same as it was 10+ years ago when the series were airing and being subbed. It was good enough for the generally small file sizes and low quality videos back then, these days, not so much. What you're referring to was just little more than an educated guess from my part, if you don't agree you will have to ask the owner of the rights if they plan to use specific characteristic of the characters in potential future installments of the franchise, and why or why not.
What we know for certain is that the manga you mention are part of the main canon, and I still think that it still doesn't matter if people don't read them or if you don't want to think they're canon because they don't expand the narrative of the franchise, they're only fun little stories.

I think you just have to view the main series comedy omakes as a separate things that exist in different modus.
I prefer to not use the term canon in this context, it's better to just say the omake uses the same universe/timeline but don't take that as equivalent of being canon. After all, doujins/fanfics also take some continuity without being allowed to "alter it". I'd consider these parodies/omakes as something similar.
Consider this: if you had a official=canon or original author=canon rule, then that would mean those auhtors/publishers can never put out something and decide it is not meant seriously, that it's just for fun and is not supposed to be canon. I think they do have that right and do that from time to time, and that intent doesn't have to be explicitly stated, in case like Vivid Life it can be sorta inferred from the nature of the work.

They can still do that, it's what generally happens in comedy, you're not meant to take everything seriously or literally in this kind of story. Also a single franchise can have multiple canons, which is what happens with Nanoha that has at least 6 if you count movies, games, the novels, etc.

Yeah, when it happens it's usually directly implied by a change in the previous setting, like what happened in Innocent. The movies are probably not so good of an example here since they also exist as in-universe movies within the main canon, so I would rather not go there.

Jokes aside Vivio just has weird luck in tournaments despite being possibly the strongest fighter around besides Sieg and Victoria. At the start of Vivid Strike she was lower in the ranking than fucking Miura (and this is after she beats the Ace of Aces). But as it turns out she's the only one able to put an end to Rinne's brutalizing streak of victories (not only once but twice). But her legs were injured so she had to drop the tournament.
Basically Vivio is the strongest but always something gets in the way of her taking the titles.

Hey fuck you buddy Corona's barrier jacket is awesome. At a glance it doesn't fit with the combat-style vests of Vivio/Einhart because she has a long caster-style dress, much like Caro or Lutecia, but in her fights the frills get blasted off and she's left with a short skirt, the sash, what's left of the armpit sleeves, and looks great especially in motion (pic related and also ) thanks to the remaining loose fabric. It's a two-stage design as Caro was conceptualized from the very beginning as a frail-ish girl who fights like a demon. With Vivio and Einhart by comparison what you see is pretty much what you get: tight clothing, thick fabrics, armor-esque design because fighting is what they do.
The only real dud is Rio, and it's no surprise since Rio's a waste of space in general. Her entire character is genki (which Vivio already does) and china/kung fu gimmicks, and gimmicks are an easy way to spot a character that just exists to fill space. (The brute strength aspect they showed off against Harry was cool but the fact they never bothered doing much else with it says a lot about how little the character matters.)

Did you actually read Force or are you parroting only what you've heard? The jobbing in Force is quite minimal, to put it in perspective it's less jobbing than what Reflection had. Also the MC never saved the day once in Force, he never had a chance to before hiatus happened. The coolest he got to be was in a mock battle against Signum.

The issue is at the time they were trying to appeal to both existing fans while getting in on that shounnen cash cow that was occuring at the time. Force failed due to existing fans not liking their little girls being replaces with Touma "Cliche" Mc Edgebland right from the get go and seeing existing characters job to make him look more useful made it worse, it's funny you mention Reflection because quite a few were suprised at how hard the jobbing was considering what happened with Force. The best part however is that in doing this they also failed to get a piece of that juicy shounnen pie they wanted too. Bland villains who's character development came wwwaaaaaaaaaaayyy too late alongside an MC who was so cardboard neither new nor old readers cared. The fights were decent when the jobbing was absent but they wern't enough when it took forever for the plot to even start beyond "bad guys do a thing" "good guys fail to stop them" which ment the series was already finacially on deaths door by the time shit actually started happening.

See Fate's fight against Levi in Reflection; Bardiche enters stage left and after thirty minutes of eating shit and jobbing left and right, Fate turns the tide in a minute and mops the waterpark with Levi.

Thank you for telling me you haven't read the manga because the exact opposite happened. Thoma had the cliche super special MC only type of power and did practically nothing with it. He jobs to the fucking Grendel family, which Nanoha was able to one shot with no trouble. The jobbing is less than Reflection indeed and with actual purpose but I wouldn't call it minimal. Until the battle at the bridge against the Grendels and Cypha the heroes had a really poor showing. Signum and Agito we're the first casualties but during the clash over the ocean they started dropping like flies. Vita, Erio and Hayate got one-shooted, Nanoha almost jobbed to DeVille and later jobbed to Tohma (being in the need to be rescued by Subaru) and before that basically the entire cast jobbed to Tohma. Reflection now holds the title but before that FORCE had the highest count of characters jobbing in the whole franchise.

Hayate getting one-shooted personally sucked because I'm a huge Hayatefag, but I find it hard to call that instance jobbing as Hayate never even actually fights Curren as it was a surprise backstab. Vita and Erio is fair though. However I wouldn't say the cast started dropping like flies in the battle over the ocean. Fate and Subaru did pretty well against their opponents and Erio did fine too before charging into Curren.
Nanoha's fight against Thoma is honestly my favorite Nanoha involved fight in the entire series so I am coming from a place of bias, but to me she put up and extremely good showing against Thoma when he was controlled by Silver Cross so it doesn't even register as jobbing to me. Feel free to disagree though.

Maybe it was how the fight was depicted or my bias at the moment but I wasn't too excited to see Nanoha's shiny new equipment being torn apart in it's debut fight leaving her defenseless and in need of rescue. Tohma even regenerated all the damage rendering Nanoha's efforts moot.
Fate and Teana in my eyes had the better showing among the old cast through the manga. Fate received the only true upgrade among the cast and Teana was smart enough to realize EC Drivers are out of her league in melee and stuck to artillery using the new vaccine bullets to great effect.
Subaru was sort of in the middle, she made some cool contributions but was also getting her shit kicked in by Veyron during their first encounter.

One of the cardinal points of Nanoha were the intelligent and aware weapons capable of providing combat advice and parroting the users commands, without them it'd just be like every other mahou shoujo out there. We've had somewhat of a paradigm shift and now it's more about the characters, which is disappointing, but at least the devices are still detailed
