Just finished watching for the first time.
So is it just supposed to be a mind fuck or is there actually a way to make sense of it all?

It’s pretentious shit to wank yourself over in 3x3 threads
every time i thought i was starting to understand what was going on, it just kept throwing in more shit that didn't make sense
>you don't seem to understand
You need to watch it 17 more times.
It's what happens when you try to do some Black mirror shit with only a primitive version of the Internet to work with.
There's a way to make sense of it all.
This but unironically
Go back to your moeshit meme garbage thread retard
That struck a nerve, apparently.
What's wrong with me wanting to read discussion about a show without people like you posting dismissive garbage? I stick to threads about shows I enjoy, why can't you do the same?
The op is good..... Thats about it.
What's there not to get?
How many times have we had this thread?
I don´t think you need to understand a show to enjoy it. I also don´t think anyone is stupid enough to create a show thinking ''I´m just gonna throw obscure shit at the wall and people will think this is deep'', but it´s possible that they just wanted to give a global feel to it, mixing things that makes sense for them but without one clear meaning in the end
As anime suggested you need to read all the books by John c Lilly to understand it.
It isn’t that hard to understand. It just has some symbology that can make it difficult to explain everything.
On the surface it’s about a girl and this universes combined version of Internet and subconscious. Some episodes show how it interacts with real life, others explain how it works. All of this is done alongside Lain learning about the Wired. I think the twist about Lain is neat and the ending where “it could have happened in our world” is always cute.
You’d have to be an actual brainlet to think it’s pretentious because the only way you can think that is if you completely missed what the show was about.
Ergo Proxy is better
God no
>Ambien Proxy
>better
Ergo Proxy wasnt bad but they really fucked up the conflict resolution near the end with the trivia episode.
At it's core SEL is about the technological genesis of god and how transhumanism could destroy individuality and the existential self. Lain rejects the collectivist ideals of Eiri (the false prophet) at the end of the series thanks to Alice's friendship and emotions which guide her to the understanding that individuality and human flaws are what makes life worth living. If you want a deeper unserstanding of the narrative and the other philosophical questions it raises you should watch the series a few more times.
Is not understanding the SEL's plot a sort of meme?
Apart from symbolism, which is basically a reference-tier shit (you either know it or not know it), the plot itself is quite simple to understand. Unless you are sleeping through the entire show. Or you are a brainlet.
>or you are a brainlet
That must be the case with op. He's one of those guys who create these threads after watching EoE.
extremely based
