Well anons. Now that NT (appears) to be said and done, what did you all think of this wild magic ride? I personally prefer it heavily to OT for various reasons. It had a stronger overarching plotline with consistency, it wasn't just 'bad guy of the week' (not that it was a bad thing) and we even got tasty revelations and development, along with fun new characters. It's a pretty big 9.5/10 for me as a whole, bordering even 10 personally. I'm excited to see what Kamachi does with the rest of the series now from here on in. We'll be getting into some interesting territory. So what did you all think?

9/10, I've enjoyed every volume, but there are some glaring issues like Mikoto and Hamazura's plotlines that seem to meander and not know what they're trying to accomplish half the time. The antagonists and themes are much tighter though so its not as bad as it could be.

Lots of it was a slog, but the good parts were really fucking good. I think Part 3 will be even better

First part of NT was better for me since it was all Norse, which I already know alot about. I like the parts of Index that have to do with mythology, but since the second half of NT is all Thelema, which is pretty fucking obscure, I had to constantly look stuff up.

Coronzon getting BTFO. Because literal miracles, asspulls everywhere and Accelerator can into the magic vectors now and she wasn't expected that SYSTEM is a viable alternative to Sephiroth. Fish eggs burst out of Touma's Arm, he is useless but became better once again. Hamazura sides with Demon out of desperation, she helps him out for lulz, it works out perfectly for him... Secret Chiefs are next level keikaku, they are real "real gremlin".

9/10 with some weak parts.
NT7 felt too confusing at times, NT11 should have been an SS NT12 should have a little bigger prologue if it was NT11 so we could get acustomed to Touma's life with Othinus a bit more before things turned to shit.
NT15 felt really weak compared to NT14-16-17 but overall the Kamisato arc is probably my third favorite after the Aleister - WW3 arcs.
Other than those little things I liked pretty much everything else and found them amazing to binge read and later read them live here.
As for Part 3, I really do believe that Kamisato will be added as the 4th MC but Touma will be missing and will have to be saved by the new trio.

Hamazura is more tied to the plot than ever now, since Dion is connected to secret chiefs

To me, it feels like we might actually be getting our first significant time skip.

It just seems like he's making it up as he goes which is weird when we know he writes far ahead and he can plot out other things just fine.

Overall, NT was a head above than OT, but some gimmick volumes fail flat. Peaks are awesome in most cases. There also some absolutely bizarre scenes which can break immersion too much. In the end, a ride was enjoyable and awesome, but somewhat inconsistent.

After reading over 40 volumes of Raildex and the manga I've come to the following logical conclusion: the smartest people in this series are the ones who actually live absolutely normal lifes no matter what, refusing to engage in retarded conspiracies against the world or trying to save someone. Just do that and you'll mostly be fine, otherwise a world of pain awaits you.

In short: being normal > being a Full Powered MG, Secret Chief, Kamijou, Demon or whatever.
The truest keikaku is having NO keikaku, staying out of the absolute mess done by the Magic and Science sides. Someone needs to put these people in a nuthouse.

The highest highs in the series and the lows varied between "meh" to boring. NT was bloody brilliant most of the time with a few low points through the story, it never felt like a slog outside of one or two volumes. As a whole NT is around a 9/10 for me.

Early NT was boring as shit until NT4. It keeps getting better until NT9-10 where it blows its load all over the place, and then goes back to being pretty good for NT11-13 with interesting ideas and some less than great execution of a theme. Kamisato was great but his arc is full of borderline experimental shit that almost feels like filler. I don't really care about the mythology in general being shown in Index (and just by living in the West when it actually deals with Christianity stuff at least it's less confusing) so NT18-22 was sometimes way over my head, but what it accomplished with its character was really great, and if NT22 really is the last it ended on a really high note.

I'd say I prefer it over OT because there were no arcs I REALLY disliked, unlike Daihaseisai and Ice Boats.

Hopefully Mikoto actually has some fucking payoff to her dozens of volumes of vague hints at character development. I think Accelerator is cooling down from being a central protag since his separation from magic was pretty much the only character development he had left going for him, feeling more of a strong ally role for him. No way Hamazura is done yet, hopefully Misaki stops being a useless damsel and displays some of her charisma from Railgun and Astral Buddy. I swear, sometimes it's hard to believe Kamachi writes all of those since the characterization seems so much better in the manga.
