Don't get me wrong. I supported Botan, I was one of the few explaining why she would win and genuinely believing it, loved the whole manga etc., but you shouldn't use a good example of a romance story as a beacon of hope that shitty romances will start letting best girls (not main heroines) win. Botan was going to win because the story and character interaction had her winning necessary to the manga. You can't say that about most romances with more than one heroine.

Dunno what you mean with your second question. The crossdressing series was published and was like the number 1 serialization on the website it ran on while it was running. Madoromi-chan, who is still namo's mascot, got super axed. I think there's something else he's(?) making, but I haven't found anything like new. I see his promotional work in Toranoana stores though. That's always a trip.

-Keitaro and Botan develop a no bullshit, straight and honest relationship
-They actually like one another.
-The things Keitaro ends up liking about Aoi were actually just the results of Botan's influence (what she reads; and overall he and Botan share more of a common interest in what they read)
-Botan ends up liking Keitaro as himself without a disguise, where the core theme of the series is that you can love someone despite how they look.

It was only ever going to be Botan. Just because she was introduced rather late doesn't mean it wasn't planned.
