Not exactly, the anime almost didn't happen because the manga showed games without the rights to do so, it's more about the nostalgia than directly promoting stuff, you can't even play most of those games without emulation/collections.
there's a shit ton of ads for those collections though. the show only got made because it was approved to be an advertisement vehicle.
All this show is literally alcoholic drinks ad. And it was very good show.

The movies have some new sponsors added and a lot of the clothing items and accessories the characters wear were made into official merch collaboration projects with different companies. The characters are also used as models by companies outside of the show as well.
There were some things that were not added as a collaboration but got a massive sales boost anyway because fans recognized the brand like pic related.
