Best order to watch fate series?

FSN all routes (you should read the VN for route Fate cuz its anime adaption was pretty bad) -> Fate/Zero if you have watched HF II -> you can choose any Fate works to read/play/watch

Play the original VN then play F/HA. After that, head on over to the adaptations. Watch Zero then the 2006 anime of Fate then the Ufotable anime of UBW and then the first film of the HF trilogy. You'll have to wait for the second one unless you find a theater that's playing it or want to settle for the camrip. 3rd film will be out Spring 2020.

This is best option besides just reading the VN.

The 2006 anime was "remastered" in 2010 with the TV Reproduction which makes it WAY better as an adaptation. It skips some of the things where Shirou acts like a massive faggot. If you can trudge through 24 episodes of DEEN then the TV Reproduction is the version I'd start with.

So to structure it better:
Fate/Stay Night TV Reproduction
Fate/Heaven's Feel (just the first two for now is fine)
Fate/Zero
Unlimited Blade Works
Spin Offs

If you start with the VN just watch it all in whatever order, you already would have done more than most casuals.

Ignore anyone who says to start with Zero and just watch it in release order. Watching Zero without knowing how it ends first makes it WAY less tragic.

Zero is a tragedy and it's best watched it knowing what happens at the end. Its maximises the suffering because you know that every glimmer of hope is in vain for the entire cast. It's the only time Gen's edge is decently utilized.

VN is miles more entertaining than any of the adaptions.

It maybe pointless at this point, but F/Z should absolutely be watched after reading the VN. It casually tosses out two major plot points from FSN in the first few episodes.

Zero doesn't spoil anything in F/HA, right? Assuming, it doesn't but just confirming. Want to finally get around to reading F/HA, but figure it'll be a nice pick me-up from the doom and gloom of Zero, which I figure I just have to watch as an obligation at this point, don't even feel like reading it, if only because it expands on some stuff touched in F/SN.

I think Zero just adds contradictions so they're treated as parallel universes. If you want expanded Lore reas tsukihime, especially Arcs route.
