why was a tv show about a woman being cheated on and abused by her husband so popular in the 80s? I started watching this show a year ago and finally got through the whole thing and even though I know its intended to be a comedy show and done for laughs it really made me uncomfortable as it went on. Especially since it never had a real ending to oresolve the conflict between Ataru and Lum

must be the soi diet
When did you realize Lum was objectively in the right the entire time?
she wasnt though. Ataru is right in that just because she loves him (for no apparent reason) doesnt mean he owes her a relationship.
however he is wrong for never telling Lum he only wants a harem of girls and will never settle down with her.
He just needed to wait 5 more years so his dick stopped pulling him like a magnet then it'd all be fine
But Ataru is not Lum's husband or lover either.
I know Lum is too good for him but Ataru is sitll single so he can flirt with other women imo.
Btw I don't know about this anime's ending but manga's ending is fine to me.
>Psychotic bitch forces herself into your family.
>married
but as in pic above with the red strings of fate. it proves that Ataru will cheat on Lum and have sex with other girls
but shes hot
might as well ask this here,
guys should i watch maison ikkoku ?
i have seen ranma 1/2 and enjoyed for its martial arts and comedy, i don't like romances. is maison a romance comedy like ranma or is it a serious romance ?
Post more Lum, this thread need more lum
Don't worry, Ranma is a show a bout a guy getting cock blocked and beaten to death by some random girl supposed to be his (not) fiancee and it also didn't get a real ending.
How many rumiko things don't get real endings? UY, ranma, what else
inuyasha
everything but maison ikkoku
that was such a cute episode
Was ran only pretending to be retarded?
Didn't Ranma and Akane marry? Also Kagome settle down in the past to live with Inuyasha in the manga, I think. It's like every couple get its conclusion except for Lum and Ataru because Takahashi is still butthurt
Well duh. Japanese women have to pretend to be retarded (read cute) in order to please societal expectations. Ran is a parody
Ranma never married akane, and never should've there were much better suiters like kuno and ryoga.
Wasn't the whole Ranma and Akana thing fanmade though? The original manga ending left very clear that there was going to be no wedding until every other suitor was dealt with, and while there were reasonable ones, retards like Kunou would not take a no, or a beating for an answer.
>uncomfortable
buzzwords aside, how things play out after the series ends is pained very clearly, just not onscreen. You brainlet.
and now i'm just going to post a few screenshots since i've been watching it and haven't had a thread to post them in
nah, inuyasha got a final season that wrapped it all up. it was good, if a little fast paced.
>Didn't Ranma and Akane marry?
The ceremony was interrupted for gags, you can only resort to headcanon thinking it was resumed later.
>how things play out after the series ends is pained very clearly, just not onscreen. You brainlet.
Assuming shit in your mind isn't a ending.
Both Ranma and Akane were in love, that's more than enough. You guys are taking a gag too seriously. That's way more than Lum and Ataru ever got
If they're not gonna grow up, they're not gonna develop much either. And they're not gonna grow up over the course of whatever we see onscreen.
Stop shitposting this show. We all know it's one solitary autist trying to crash it.
Based Japan
Is that a Devilman reference?
couldn't be
Ataru is a failed ladies man, but the one abusing him was Lum with electricity.
Because Ataru is based
Ataru never accepts Lums love for him and spends the rest of his life trying to get a harem while Lum waits for her happy ending yet never gets it.
>dat episode where Ataru made his directorial debut
Oshii liked to portray Ataru as an insecure cuck seriously overcompensating. I wonder if he projected himself into Ataru.
Because is good.
>Oshii is insecure
Did he ever displayed such trait on public?
not even the only one
rated R
>a woman being cheated on and abused by her husband
it was the opposite, you moron
Why not?
Ataru told Lum many times that he wanted to enjoy his youth
> there were much better suiters like kuno and ryoga
Kuno is insane, Ryoga is too clingy and immature
It's heavily implied that they are getting married eventually in the manga
