Last time, Kanade spent most of her dance pre-occupied with thoughts of how to get herself out of her slump and making sure she was doing everything correctly. Sakura and her friends and Andrea and her's seemed to be impressed and even Oliver noted that things like her musicality have improved. But worn out after the performance Kanade could only rush off stage and bemoan that she probably did terribly. However Takimoto stated it was her best performance yet and that ballet has many layers to it leading Kanade to realize she didn't have to focus on only one path to becoming a pro and finally bringing her out of her slump. She wished Shouko luck on her own dance and headed to the theater. She was entranced by Ema's own Aurora while Shouko, waiting for her chance to respond to Ema, watched from just off stage.
This time, we'll go through the rest fof the important dancers.
I like this. Aurora's such a simple variation on the surface that anyone can do it. But that simplicity means the differences between doing it and doing it well are both minutely technical and readily apparent to a judge.
It's great. Kanade's quickly become one of my favorite MCs because of just how earnest she is about her love of ballet and her geeking out over it and the way she affects others with her attitude.
nah I'm jesting, he's still way better than Hachiken's father in Silver Spoon, that has to be one of the worst fucking father in high school stories manga
And of course things didn't stay awkward all that long between Kanade and Chloe. Though given that we didn't even see Chloe's or Maho's dances that says it all about their chances of moving on.
I always like that porn creators can wind up doing the most wholesome stuff like this or Azuma. Maybe they get all of it out of their systems with the porn.
Of course Garrel, nice guy that he is, doesn't like having to be the executioner of some poor girl's dreams but he has to anyway.
That's all for this chapter, this volume and everything that's been translated. This is also the most recent volume released in Japan so don't expect to see anything from this series for about another six months outside of the raws. Ah well, when it comes back I'll be sure to storytime those chapters too.
I like that she loves what she does, is encouraging of others around her and it always feels like she earns things. It's kind of funny that one of the best shonen protagonists around (and this is published in a shonen magazine) is a 13-year-old girl in a ballet series.

Oliver is a Shoukofag. Since the beginning he's been unconvinced by Kanade. Overall, Cuvie raised a lot of flags over the late volumes that let us think Kanade won't go to the Royal Ballet: - Takimoto being warry and unconvinced about Nichols' motivations - Garrel's speech after the YAGP qualifier in Japan - Kanade going full genki during her short training scholarship and enjoying the new stuff she learnt her and expanding her world - Kanade discovering how Nichols scouted a bunch of girls all over the world and she's not her protégée - Oliver Smith not really being excited overall
Actually, it seemed to me Shouko would fit the Royal Ballet better so I'm not really surprised to see that. Her aura of strictness and dedication to training and basics and her more "formal" demeanor and appearance seem a better match for the big classic repertoire of the Royal Ballet, compared to the pure happiness expressed by Kanade. I wouldn't be surprised to see Shouko getting a scholarship for the Royal and Kanade going somewhere else, with possibly Garrel jumping on the opportunity to hook her.

Well, I can more or less guess the big general stuff through the drawings, but missing all the relations between Kanade and Nichols is frustrating, as it seems it's some important development. Plus some lesser scenes involving Akito and Ema+Sakura's mother,

Ultimately, Kanade doesn't have the luxury of choosing beyond whatever preferences she set while signing up. She'll have to go wherever the school that wants her the most is, or stay home.

I do wonder if someone who can read moon can tell what's going on between her and Sakura's mom (I'm guessing probably Sakura's mom offering her a place at her school or something). Of course getting bounced in the competition isn't the end of the world and seriously doing the audition classes and workshops she may have still caught attention from some schools. She seemed to have one basically lined up and wanting her before she even left for New York.

Yes, Sakura's mom offers her to return. The reason isn't quite something I can grasp, though. Don't trust this interpretation, but I think it's something like, she wasn't into it as much for this. At any rate, mean mom offers, Ema agrees

Not surprising, that's about what I figured based on the art. Hopefully it works for Ema though I could see Sakura's mom destroying the passion she'd found. Wouldn't surprise me if Ema maybe let her win go to her head too. Kanade talked about her looking past the judges which could mean at the audience but it could also mean the competition itself and was just expecting to basically cruise her way to a scholarship.
