It's the greatest OVA series of all time.

it´s not as great as people say. it´s too short for the amount of story and character development it wanted to reach, overall good anime.

It's great, and diebuster is garbage with kino op

I feel like if it was 10 episodes instead it would've been able to fit in better character development and patch up its shortcomings.

There should have been a full cour of it. It's slightly underdeveloped but still the best OVA ever.

The aspect ratio change and black and white color palette for the last episode is great

It was really fun to watch and I wish there was more

Did you cry in the end?

I did, that ending was too perfect

Then despite the hate it gets and a pointless first half you will love the Diebuster epilogue

I'm planning on watching it, i'm just waiting on the torrent to finish downloading.

>it´s too short for the amount of story and character development it wanted to reach
How so? Noriko's character arc was handled about as perfectly as you can get.

I think the first three episodes are bad and the last three are kino.
Diebuster follows the same pattern, but is a bit worse overall.

It did more in 6 episodes than most anime can do in 24

OP go look for the Ace wo Nerae (Aim for the Ace) movie.
It's a tennis anime but the entire coach and pairing up a substandard pupil with the school ace subplot was pulled from it by the Gainax team.
It's quite good even if you don't care for sports anime its interestingto see the parallels.

Movie or OVAs? If I recall Diebuster loses a lot more in its movie version because all the side characters get pretty much all their screentime removed although to be fair after Buster Machine no.7 appears they all become irrelevent anyway

Which one is the patrician release to watch all of this? I also planned on watching this since a long time, but never did.

I would recommend the OVAs for both. While Gunbuster movie/OVA are essentially the same and just stitched together I never liked the redone voicework or slight changes to the music.

so..
>[EG] Gunbuster OVA BD - Episodes 1-6 + Science Lessons & Specials
and
>[Nonoriri]_Diebuster_[1080p,Hi10p,TrueHD]
That should do, eh?

Just checke nyaa and
>[Nonoriri]_Diebuster_[1080p,Hi10p,TrueHD]
contains the 6 episodes so you're all good

Nice. Thanks.

First episode is kinda hard to get through but once it gets going, it really gets going.

Don't forget to watch the second one as well for galaxy-sized feels.

Did the director of Interstellar watch this?

I suppose some would also say the limited DVD (or was it LD?) release would be defined as the 'patrician' release. But unless you really really really want to see Noriko pubes just don't bother

I'm doing OVAS for both since I heard movies cut stuff out.

>unless you really really really want to see Noriko pubes
Well, not now. Maybe once I got to know her a little better?

It's literally a 3 second scene that you can probably find somehere on its own.
Think this, but with Noriko and nude

>Noriko'
the romance appeared out of nowhere and the guy just died the same episode. Perfect? I call that bullshit.

It's 10/10 but shitposters hate on it either because not muh Dezaki or Not muh Eva

Don't watch Diebuster until at leadt a month after Gunbuster.

The transition isn't that bad as long as you know it isn't the same thing

Will do. Can't watch too much anime anyways. Well. I could. But I don't really feel like it.

Legitimately don't see what's good about it. It was inoffensive at best.

I watched it 3 times and Gunbuster is at it's best when it doesn't focus on the characters too much. It's good for the sci-fi, for the action, the politics and watching how the effects of time dilation unfold.
I fucking love Gunbuster but episodes 1-3 are almost hard to sit through. It's just a less garbage version of Aim for the Ace.
Episode 4 is when it gets kinda good.
Episodes 5 and 6 are 10/10 pure kino. The sudden increase in quality is pretty crazy. It wastes no time, it's 2 episodes of pure catharsis, payoff and KINO. They didn't even have the final episodes planned out when the first ones were made, I bet there's some interesting story behind it all.

Absolutely fucking agreed. I'm so satisfied after watching 5 and 6, I haven't felt like this for a while.
I'm btw

I really liked it. Shame about the lack of porn though.

who gave Akko the Gunbuster keys

do we have any news about the third gunbuster or was it just an empty promise?

>the adventures of jung freud

Don't go in expecting a Gunbuster 2, it's more like an FLCL 2 with Gunbuster elements.

I like how Diebuster-age people consider Gunbuster-age people as gods and how humanity is comfortably trapped in the solar system
Also groovin' magic

Gunbuster along with VOTOMS are my favourite mecha anime. Do I have shit taste ?

Attached: votoms.png (450x353, 317K)

Now you need to see Diebuster.

Attached: 1391589151222.jpg (1552x2000, 525K)

It was fine. I didn't get too invested in the story and there wasn't too much actual mecha content, let alone using the Gunbuster (though what was there with the Gunbuster was really good). I really liked how they used the concept of time dilation though and the ending was great. Not my favorite mecha series but it's short and worth watching.
