I honestly have no idea what this means
Have Spacesuit, Will Travel is anime as fuck. There's even a genius loli and a cat(?) girl(?)
The whole Cirque du Freak series would make a great anime adaptation
God that was such a good book
It means a manga you read accidentally. Like if your eating a sandwich and by mistake you read all of one piece
The Name of the Wind was pretty anime
well there is a manga.
Holy shit is there really? Is it any good?
I've never read it I just know of it. the art looks good going buy random google images.
Honestly, His Dark Materials is pretty anime.
Author needs to get off his ass and write the third book already. It's been 8 fucking years and all he has is the title.
I guess Sanderson is intentionally anime, so for unintentional yeah I guess Malazan is pretty correct.
Gods bless Malazan engineering
Out of all the books I've read, obviously not including the two manga I've read, Don Quixote feels most like an anime
Just write "Things that need an anime adaptation", theyre not gonna ban you.
That being said, I'd only trust the nips with the Abhorsen trilogy. The west would just fuck it all up, like make Sabriel into the dragon bitch from Thrones. No good.
I wonder what kind of anime Sanderson likes. Guessing battle shonen at least.
Wheel of Time, even before Sanderson took over, it was obvious Jordan was somewhat of an old school weeb.
The Dresden File
Its chuuni as fuck and has a literally me mc who despite being dense and self deprecating has a bunch of hot girls after his dick
A short story in a book I read was Zombieland Saga from the perspective of some retail drones.
>I wonder what kind of anime Sanderson likes. Guessing battle shonen at least.
Probably Fullmetal Alchemist.
Dude clearly reads HunterXHunter
Judges 13-16 is anime as fuck.
why are so many of the sci-fi books on that list by Neal Stephenson? Haven't read his works, is he actually a good writer?
>MC has a harem of tsundere, tomboy and aristocrat
>All 3 male MCs are dense as f
>/u/ vibes every other chapter
If Jordan wasn't staying up all night reading jumpu and watching VHS while in nam idk what he was doing
The Abhorsen trilogy was fantastic, but would probably do better with early 2000s anime style.
I heart that it was pretty much complete a few years ago, but the beta readers hated the ending so the author basically decided to overhaul and rewrite a ton of stuff.
Unironically pic related.
>Alyosha is the idealistic moralfag MC
>Ivan is the cooler, more rational/skeptical friend/rival who needs to be saved from himself by the MC.
>Lise is the tsundere who likes the MC but abuses him.
>Illusha is the new bratty kid with lots of potential that the MC mentors
Best anime ever
Croaker best MC
Malazan is nothing like an anime though. Mistborn, now THERE's an anime.
>tsundere redhead
>incest bait with the sister
>edgelord smart older brother
>naked shota galore
>Urobuchi tier twist at the end
In hindsight I really can't believe I read this thing cover to cover, flying ninja bullshit and all that considered
^__^
Mistborn is basically anime
2nd time Iv seen that mentioned on Yea Forums, is it any good?
Also Dragonlance Chronicles, Legends and Lost chronicles. A story about a DnD game that was so fun and amazing that it continued even after the people split up due to their circumstances which is reflected in the story itself that was created. It basically forms and popularizes few character staples in fantasy, some of which come off as edgy generic isekai MCs except well written
>YUGO SHOKAN! FAIBU GODDO DORAGON!
>Dragons are the toughest shit except for the edgelord wizard or his evil step sister
Just like in my japanese power fantasies
this entire character in the Three Body Problems.
>cyborg ninja geisha alien
>fantasy side
>Xanth
not bad, first few in the series were comfy
Asebi and Adventurers of Sky World
Just decided to start reading it at random but ended up really getting into it.
Sanderson is intentionally anime though. I mean seriously, the stuff they start doing in mistborn
FMA seems pretty fitting. His entire shtick is devoloping an intricate and consistent magic system with fairly well established limits (though not so restrictive that there isnt room for twists later) and then exploring what can be done within those limits.
I'd watch it.
>Read FSN
>Get idea of looking into the legends of Medea etc beyond wikipedia
>Remember that old literature is still shit
I knew I didnt touch older books after reading Dantes inferno on 6th grade for a reason
flying ninja bullshit can be cool. And atleast in way of kings theres not really that much of it, if i remember correctly.
Wheel of Time is the biggest.
Fucking tsundere harem.
It's pretty much Murasaki no Qualia: the book.
My man.
Tell me im wrong
Vin is such a moeblob in Last Empire it's unnerving. The noble bitch in the B Plot is so on the mose ojou-type I heard OHOHOHO~ after every block of her dialogue. Saze is also pretty much the Miroku type cheeky anime priest and his look is very Buddhist monk.
But you want to talk anime fantasy? The Locke Lamora series is fantasy Lupin III. Locke is Lupin, Jean is Jigen + Goemon because lolnoguns, Sabetha is Fujiko.
Except it's not because it's not some pretentious superficial overture at talking those things.
It's like saying The Idiot is like a moralfag mc anime.
This doesn't exist.
Anime never ever.
Vin has the exact same arc as Simon
>From the creators of The Matrix
I assure you it is not unintentional.
>You will never see "Ashaman, kill" animated
Just end it
Oh you will. It'll just be disgusting CGI like capeshit for the live action series.
Is there a single one of the Forsaken that wouldn't be amiss for any shounen?
>intricate and consistent magic system with fairly well established limits
That's my fetish
Didn't know you posted here, Brandon.
I'm just saying it uses the same tropes. Dostoevsky is literally my favourite author, I know he's in a different league to something like Naruto.
I've read a lot of classic lit, and TBK really reminded me of common shounen tropes more than anything except maybe Dumas.
> live action series.
I don't believe that's ever happening.
Also best girl is Nynaeve.
Worst is Egwene.
Best part of the harem is Aviendha
Filming is pretty much confirmed for Prague.
I prefer Min myself, if only because she has far less screen time with a certain blonde idiot.
Elayne is worst by far.
Egwene blows off fuckers left and right.
Min is pretty top tier aswell.
But I like the Aiel in general
>Elayne worse than Egwene
What the fuck are you smoking.
Elayne is pretty unoffensive over all meanwhile Egwene wouldn't be out of place in the Red Ajah
>Also best girl is Nynaeve.
I would have disputed this at one point, but the jump she makes in the last half or so of the series nails it down.
Why are Yea Forums threads on Yea Forums and /tg/ so much better for finding stuff to read than Yea Forums itself?
>Used to read a fuckton of DnD as kid, literally plowed through trilogies in a week
>Last 10 years: GoT, one offs, math and too much Yea Forums
Give me something gritty and interesting to read Yea Forums
>When she tells of all the representatives of the ajahs when the taking the trial
She's honestly too good for this world
>Dostoevsky
>Orthodox grafoman who hates Jews and lost royalties at the casino
Shiet tier.
Book of the New Sun, not very anime but probably my second favorite fantasy or favorite SciFi depending how you count it
Elayne walks into dangerous situations all the time and requires saving constantly while acting like a fucking queen non-stop.
My favorite part is when she gathers an army to go after Lan, who was trying to do the whole noble sacrifice thing.
A land fit for heroes, since you asked for grit.
Holy shit, we have an user with exceptional taste in here.
Genuine spoilers:
He even waifus femSauron, what a lad
tfw Night Watch anime never ever
Day Watch was the best book in that series
Thanks anons, I just need to find time to read them. I wish I could just take it easy, sit back and smoke reef/drink/game like rest of my friends
Still not as bad as Egwene trying to neuter Rand
Zelazny's novels are chunni as fuck, they'd make fantastic anime.
It's either this, the testing or capturing Moghedien.
Very important question.
Theoretical harem because there's a lot of girls around this dudes orbit, or actual harem that he has relationships with a bunch of them?
Because I'd be down for the latter
I meant Pratchett's Night Watch
Russian Night Watch is better
Black Company, at least the first trilogy
goodreads.com
Actual harem, he fucks and impregnates 2 of the 3.
>you will never save your demon lord waifu from the bleeding heart rebels.
>he doesn't know
The MC has a literal harem after a certain point. Literally called sister-wifes
Sold.
not sure about chunni except for the villain girl in the last few books.
but it was pretty great planeswalking
Hopefully you'll enjoy it.
Cosmere if you haven't already
fuck every single female in this bullshit series, how do they get away with fucking everything. fucking femdom cucks.
But I don't want to deal with her creepy ass sister with a complex.
>he doesn't like Wheel of Tsundere
*tugs braids*
*smooths skirt*
"The men in my family are strong because the women in my family kill and eat the weak ones"
Not really haremfag, but rokujouma showed me that if done right, a legit harem is one of the most powerful things to behold.
Rokujouma harem is so pure, everyone loves and looks out for each other, and fights just as hard for their friends.
Also Koutour knowing his limits but trying anyways is absolutely amazing.
3000 years of White Tower dominance explains a lot.
Rober Jordan was great in such weird ways.
The tale of Genji is pretty much the first harem novel, but actually good with a lot more going for it as well
Sucks that we'll never get a proper adaptation
One of his singleton books is Fate/Stay Night but the Masters are public domain characters and the Servants are cute animals.
It's pretty great.
>yfw Expanding ring of earth and fire
Other interest and hobby boards consistently have better discussions about topics the board does not specialise in because it removes most of the elitism present on dedicated boards
Dresden Files is Light Novel as fuck - it has stuff like
>A perverted mascot character
>A love interest who's short and yells at the protagonist a lot
>Protagonist befriending a loli with godlike power
>A secret order of modern-day knights wielding holy swords, one of whom is a Japanese guy swinging around the Kusanagi
>Almost every book having the protagonist go to his lab and research while narrating about who he is
And Harry is 100% the kind of role Sugita would play.
Doubtful, but I'll check it out
Does the golden crane ride alone, user?
Malazan was fucking amazing.
A shame its so damn long that I will never, ever meet another living soul with the patience to read the whole thing.
>Three Body Problems
For as gritty as it is sometimes, the shounen-tier brightness Gaunt displays when he believes Chaos will never win is pretty anime.
Is it possible to get every book between to cardboards?
>Sugita as Harry Dresden
I don't know how I can give all my money to this but I want to.
I really enjoyed Eqwene's arc while a captive in the white tower; it's only when she's dealing with non aes-sedai that she becomes overbearingly arrogant
>yfw I am literally a little over 63% through The Crippled God right now for the first time
>mfw I am nearing the end of The Crippled God for the first time and have absolutely ZERO idea what to expect
There's even tsundere tomboy waifu and semi-incestuous insect daughter. Also side couples are is as good, or even better than the main couple at time.
Legal Loli Stormbringer best girl.
Because someone who botches spoilers will be mocked endlessly by the people who go to Yea Forums.
It's also expected that if you go on the board, you know the culture and can feed yourself. Going on Yea Forums and asking for book recs is like asking Yea Forums what anime you should watch.
Dune gets pretty anime at times
Man, I loved the Rokujouma anime (at least after a few episodes in, once it gave up any pretence of the characters competing with each other). Then the novel translations passed the end of the anime and I saw people saying "Oh boy oh boy, the prologue is over! Now we get to the good stuff!".
I found it hard to believe... but they were right.
Textbook dense MC with tsundere ojou-sama/princess love interest. Just as frustrating as in actual anime too.
>Sucks that we'll never get a proper adaptation
Was 源氏物語千年紀 bad?
Snow Crash was pretty fun.
Sophon is the cutest waifu tho.
>perfect yamato nadeshiko, hobby is tea ceremony
>is trained in Katana, folded million times and enhanced with spess ayy high density supertech material science
>wants to genocide most of humanity and put the rest into camps
>ends up being the savior of humanity's heritage by building a pocket universe and becomes loyal guadian of the MC till the heat death of the universe
Honestly cannot imagine a better waifu to spend the rest of eternity with.
I have met one other, but his Kharkanas trilogy is an even heavier read.
This shit reads like a SoL comedy anime where everyone is bakas
>command is bakas
>captian america is bakas
>my driver is bakas
>this war is bakas
>and I'm stuck in this death metal box for a month doing nothing but making jokes and watching the countryside go by
That is correct, although I like the first three books almost equally. It's a shame that the movies kinda blow, but at least we got some cools scenes out of it.
Yeah and your tsundere tomboy waifu is half furry.
You are an amazing man of culture yourself.
I'm sure you already know, but just in case
san.ae/mega
the website itself is pretty cute, too.
Neal Stephenson is a god at autistic worldbuilding and making wacky future stuff. You can legitimately kill a man with one of his Diamond Age hardcovers they're so big. His prose is also heavier than his contemporaries, without dipping into purple prose too often.
>Sugita as Harry Dresden
What about Hikaru Midorikawa as Thomas, flipping between his stoic, uke and "maniacal rapist" voices?
Or Wakamoto as Morgan, with a scene where Harry mocks him by imitating his voice?
>The Locke Lamora series is fantasy Lupin III
I have now been sold on Lupin III
also tfw no book 4 ;_;
"The Idiot" would work perfectly as hight school anime if you think about it for a second.
I’ve read the first one and haven’t had time to continue despite wanting too.
I should just start now instead of posting here.
That's rude. Just because she's a barbarian from a race of animal fuckers doesn't mean she's half furry.
I think I only ready anime ready series.
Pic related would make a pretty decent SHAFT anime. Steerpike may as well be Dio Brando.
I really should re-read Night Watch and Day Watch since I bought both when they were released and was waiting for Twilight Watch and I completely forgot about this series. I remember really liking the short story with The Mirror Other.
Edgar is a good boy who dindu nuffin
This book is literally an Isekai.
>German soldier gets sent to a fantasy world in the last hours of the Battle of Berlin
>Goddess of the white aryan country immediately wants his dick as he leads them to victory
>Gets captured by Goblins, Goblin queen also wants his dick
>half furry
You would be correct if her decided furry aspect wasn't human cock.
>Sword of Truth
I still have a hard time believing this isn't a parody series.
The mirror was a great character.
Currently reading the 4th volume
does tatersail ever come back?
It's been a while since her "reincarnation"
I've been reading Wheel of Time the last few month and I'm now up to book eight.
Why does it feel that everything that happened could have been condensed to less than half the books?
Honestly it feels like 90% boring chore and 10% payoff and the payoff isn't even that great compared to something like Malazan.
Malazan is a chore. The author intentionally uses fantasy terms without defining them so the first half of every book reads like an encyclopedia in a foreign language. Not to mention the cast of 400+ generic marines.
pretty much every young adult literature is basically anime
But for what is worth my input here is Farlander. I have only read the first book but it was a really good read
The Dresden Files and the Sanderson books always stand at the top of the "Anime as fuck" lists for me.
The amount of femme fatales Harry runs into could fuel a pretty large comiket section.
no, but it was kind of low budget and the art style was somewhat dated and stiff. Besides they only adapted the first 12 chapters (the best are the middle part of the book up till chapter 41 imo)
Pretty much every GM adaptation stops somewhere around chapter 12 and focus mostly on his love affairs and it would be great to see the whole story
also i'd just like to see heian eyebrows in anime again
Kusanagi turns into a Light Saber. Best part. Rip Japanese dude.
>dense MC-kun chosen by destiny
>tsundere redhead
>smug cake onee-san
>perverted old guy mentor hiding power level
>those two guys that always bicker but turn into real bros
Shit was cash
But half the plot is driven by/centred around marriage. How would that work in a high school equivalent?
Anyone here read pic related?
Dumas is pretty much the nineteenth century-France equivilent of anime in the first place, but I've always thought this book in particular would translate to (probably fujo-bait) anime well. The character archetypes and the dynamics between them are very anime. Just age down everyone 10 years so they can still be somewhat bishie.
desu, TBP would work considerably better as a 60+ episode anime show than as a movie trilogy or life-action series or whatever Amazon/China want to do with it.
i read it a long time ago, it genuinely good i read the books first then read the manga after
Looking back on the whole series, I consider only the first 3 books to be worth it. That is where all the magic happens - the Stone of Tear was peak WoT. It's only downhill from there, imo.
The Handmaid's Tale felt really anime.
I've given up on ever hoping hell make a third book
Also ambrose worst boy
Now you only have to get to the Sanderson written ones before you get crushed by slowness of Jordan's last books.
Wait until you read the next to find out that nothing is what it seems.
Exactly, her chosen fuckanimal is "human".
>the old guy trades sweets for sex with loli nymphs
Truly our guy.
Just who would end up dating Nastasya Filippovna. (She would keep Rogozhin in the friend zone).
That's completly ignoring Mat who's only getting amazing afte that point.
Or the Ashaman or a whole lot of other great stuff
didnt happen in the laws of magic
does that mean it gets even better?
Magician (Feist novel)
and the 50 or so books that all come after it as we delve into hundreds of years worth of his family.
its like jojo
