Meruem is probably the most well done and universally liked character. If you like it you should check out the dragon dive assault against the palace, since it has a good mix of pitou, netero, and the narrator.

Funny enough one of the few other dubs that I like is the YYH one, which is one of less than maybe five dubs ever to be objectively as good as or better than the original. I don't think the 2011 HxH dub is as good as YYH, but once it's done it will be pretty respectable. It's too bad that Gon and Killua are some of the weaker castings.

The palace was not supposed to be empty. Netero knew that the Hunters would begin their attack at 0:00 and he planned to launch the Dragon Dive precisely at that time. Meaning that he didn't care if some of the hunters got hurt in the process. Also he was more surprised about Meruem's action than the fact that they hurt a girl.
