As promised a couple days ago to the previous Ranma thread full of oldfags, I managed to scrounge up pictures from an event somewhere in Japan called "Tell me that you love me". A Wedding Reception fan-circle gathering for the marriage of Ranma and Akane. From what we can tell, Rumiko Takahashi was not there in attendance, nor is it known if she helped organize the event. Hell, I don't even know "where" in Japan it was held. Maybe an anone who can read moon can tell me when I post the invitations?
In attendance was over 16 Doujin Artists and fan circles with merchandise, fanart, bombonieres (wedding souvenirs) wedding cakes, doll displays, and there was even a short 1-2 minute long fan animated video of the wedding made by a twiiter artist. (full vid not on twitter, will link to a re-uploaded youtube vid). The event was held on a Sunday, Febuary 10, 2019. What surprises me about it is how there is almost ZERO news or blog posts about it from the usual anime news resources we have available (not even Sankaku). I myself found out about the event by chance while searching instagram hashtags for Ranma stuff.
I find the timing of the event interesting, as Takahashi's new series starts this spring, and there's been Ranma buzz for a while now after the 30th anniversary and the Japanese Cafe. This will be a long thread, as I have over 60+ Images from the event and artwork to post, so I ask kindly that you keep image posting to a minimum. There were also some doujins for sale that weren't new, but reprints, and I was able to track down one of em.
From this point on there wasn't much in terms of pics of the actual event. But I have some pics from the artwork for the merch. Feel free to post images or chat if you want.
Same. I don't know why, but Rinne did nothing for me. It's "nice" I suppose. But that's about it. I've never felt so ambivalent about one her series before that one.
And that is EVERYTHING I have so far of the event. Thanks for your patience in posting (I don't have a pass). I really wish I could dig up more information about the event, like who organized it, and where to find info on stuff like this happening (I'm assuming fan circle message boards in Japan? Or Doujin circles?) And the fact that it happened a month ago and almost no anime news sites picked up on it happening is also a surprise.
If anyone has any other info to share (or can translate any of the invitations/posters) please go right ahead.
Good stuff finding this deep cut. I wonder if any other fanbase is autistic enough to organize one of these.

Anime news sites usually don't report on doujin events because those are unofficial, and fans try to fly under the radar as much as possible because publishers do crack down sometimes.

>I wonder if any other fanbase is autistic enough to organize one of these. Happens all the time, even for relatively minor pairings. All you need is a small group of doujin artists who are active and coordinate events together in the same genre.

Thanks for the dump user. Even if the marriage event wasn't official, it's really nice to see fans go out of their way to do this. Honestly this is kind of cathartic for me, I wanted so bad to see Ranma and Akane get married in the original ending but they never did, and seeing the fans hold a wedding for the two where they actually get married just gave me the closure I always wanted.

I wonder if there's any significance to this event's date, Feb 10. Or any reason why it popped up this year....and not say, 20 years ago? (hell, might have been a few)
Hrm, I would of expected some of the rag-style or blog sites to cover it. I found it by searching "RanmaAkaneWedding" hashtag or something on instagram while looking for other ranma hashtags. I was pretty shocked at this flying so under the radar.
It's as official as we're gonna get I guess. That animation video with all the characters reactions are perfectly in-character.
I like how Mousse is holding Shampoo back. I hope he performed a bride capture back home in China and had their own wedding whether she wanted to or not.

I could imagine an entire new volume of content of just the lead up to the wedding, with Ranma and Akane trying their best to wrap up their relationships and ask for the blessings of their friends and suitors. Be one helluva a few battles.
>Nabiki with the camera.
Maybe he had a very fine wedding sack to throw her in.
I'm willing to bet my ass that the thing is a calculator and that she's planning to charge them for the wedding. Nabiki just isn't the kind of person to not try to fuck Ranma over a last time.

Cool stuff, good to know Ranma is still getting love from the doujin community.

Cute.

Thanks for sharing this OP.
Ranma was one of my first "real animes" that I really got into. Nice to see there's still a community out there.

OP will now show his age with a cosplay picture from Anime Expo 2000, when Viz celebrated the series ending it's production in the US market (final VHS was released). It was a big deal that year.
I was Ranma in this pic. More of a /cgl/ post, but thought it might be fun to show.
>tfw 2000 was 19 years ago. >there are people posting on this board who weren't even born then.
The abyss calls to me
It was good to share it. It was definitely a diamond find.
If we at least got a a few OVA's to finish it off, that'd be great.
I'd say they should start out strong with a Ryoga OVA of the chapters where he meets Akari, and also tries to do the double date with her and Akane. Then maybe Nadoka meeting Ranma for real, and then moving onto the finale.
If you did it because you knew he was secretly a man, then yes.

We're getting into fanfic tier here, but imagine a sequel series where Ranma and Akane have twins that inherited the curse (since they jumped the gun on knocking boots before fixing the curse).
So you'd have a pair of twins taking advantage of switching genders all the time on top of pulling off twins hijinks + martial arts mayhem.
I'd watch it.

Rumiko Takahashi never got married, right? Strange how she wrote all these lovely dovey romantic stories but never experienced any of it herself.
I'm sure she had plenty of romances. Not getting married doesn't mean she never loved anyone before. But sometimes we only get a few chances in life for love. In a way I sort of envy people who get omiai or arranged marriages like Ranma and Akane. Imagine not having to worry about who you'll end up with from a young age.
Sounds like a dream to me, compared to the hellscape of modern dating.

Ranma is too much of a woman for that tomboy

>Sounds like a dream to me, compared to the hellscape of modern dating. I've seen plenty more unsatisfied with their spouse. I do agree though. I feel empty now regretting the opportunities I had in the past because of fear, and uncertainty.

>What surprises me about it is how there is almost ZERO news or blog posts about it from the usual anime news resources we have available (not even Sankaku). That's because no one cares about a Ranma x Akane wedding. Now a Ranma x Shampoo wedding would've been BIG NEWS.
Grayson Price
Hey i was in that thread and i still think kuno x ranma/akane should have happened or maybe even nabiki.
