Hollow are usually black creatures(mot skinned but literally black), and shinigami must turn them into plus which are white colored hence the name bleach because the shinigami are bleaching the hollows.

Ichigos hair is a bright color despite living in japan who mostly have black hair, just like Rukia.
Ichigos lastname starts with Kuro(Black) Byakuya, ichigos main villain in the first huge arc, has Byaku(White)
The Shinigami clothes are black/white
Ichigos white hollow mask gets more and mroe black lines(in the manga) the more the hollow gets control.
When Ichigo receives his most powerful powerup, his hair turned black.
Ichigos hollow side is represented by a black/white version of himself, with inverted lightness(dark becomes light etc.)
Ichigos and most other heroes in later arcs the shinigamis uniform are black, quincies, the last villains of the series, uniforms are white.

Paying attention to the character art, subtext, symbolism, I think I detect a reference to "bleach" as something that erases, so new meaning can be drawn. I think Kubo was chasing purity in his character art and themes regardless of the story by starting from "white", or no idea

Two reasons:
1- He wanted to call it the opposite of black but he felt "white" didn't have a good ring to it, so he chose bleach instead.
2- Tite is a big fan of Nirvana and their first album is called Bleach.

I didn't backpedal, I just extrapolated his interpretation. I never said I agreed with it.

I mean I liked the build in that last arc. But some of those fights glided by. And the big final fight was weak. Final two chapters were alright but I wish he got even 50 more chapters just to make that final fight huge, wrapped up some questions (like what happened to Uribara and others) and expand on that last time skip more than just quickly wrapping things up and leaving off on a shocked expression.
I know there's light novels but I have no idea what they're about nor do I care if Kubo isn't writing them.

Kubo ghost wrote them through Narita. Urahara and co. are alive
