It depends on the genre and sourcematerial. To Anime originals don't apply the same rules as to Adaptations that never have any closure. It's like you people watch/read half a story.
Be realistic the only reason they make these Anime is to leave you unsatisfied, you are supposed to pick up the manga after finishing the anime. That is why the second season is going to air when the manga is about to finish.

Franxx had probably one of the biggest outrages I ever witnessed. That ending was an insult towards trigger-fans.
There is no guarantor for top quality in any media but I would say that obvious baits are obvious and it's the communities fault for not just taking them but to throw every fucking penny they got towards them.
A good adaptation can even surpass the source material, like Dororo or Made in Abyss.

Oh absolutely, Dororo is an amazing production. They improved the art by making it more like classical anime, they improved the story and the best part is that there's virtually no 3dcg shit in it. Just good production values. If it keeps up it'll likely be remembered as one of the best of the 2010s.
