>character seems incredibly competent but he actually just gets lucky
>something comically brutal is about to unfold
>it suddenly cuts into those relaxing "technical difficulties" slideshow those nip TV stations are very fond of
As stupid as it is I really like the whole "Villain was only using 10% of his power" trope. It's incredibly overdone but I still find it quite enjoyable when I don't see it coming.
Captain Tyler is this to a T
Personally enjoy Engrish
>evil guy is redeemed and reformed
>old master drops the jolly facade and reveals their true power
Pretty much all katana tropes even if they are done to death x2.
My favorite of them all is
>Hits are delayed until the user sheets the blade
>guy always has his eyes closed then opens them when shit gets serious
>When the villain reveals he can actually exceed his 100% threshold and grows stronger immediately
>holding back in pivotal fights.
>this is my true power!
>previous antagonist helping the main group in the final fight
Toguro
>show takes the time to show everyone gasping or groaning when something unexpected happens
Mc who won't fuck anything.
>mc who actively shoots bitches down instead of playing oblivious
>old master doesn't die just to hype the villain or to pass his will to the MC, but he stays alive, still much stronger than his disciple
Innocent character finally becomes serious and gets shit done.
>main characters mom asks sexual questions to the girl hes with, asking things like "how far have you gone?" Or "how many grandchildren are you going to give me?"
>3DPD
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like this one, too. probably stems from a deeper fetish for deeply embarrassed or ashamed girls
>Joke character is actually super strong
You like this trope?
Why? It's annoying in all dimensions.
It's distracting both visually and audibly. Your eyes and ears can't turn away everytime they do that, considering that they keep doing it dozen of times every second.
If it's that hard to keep their glasses on, they may as well wear swimming goggles for convenience sake. It's physically a pain to look at and hear it.
>Joke character is actually super strong but is also a dumb bimbo
>Aisha
>Bimbo
Nigger, you best be joking.
She aint smart, but she definitely aint no airheaded bimbo.
When a character is willing to use everything and go all out in order to kill someone they loathe
>Siscon/Brocon
>Childhood friend
Elves have lewd ears
I need source on pic rel please I'll suck your dick
>Character has an ability that is inspired by deceased family member/friend
It's a Sanrio isekai.
hero sacrifices something to achieve extra power, bonus points for doing it during a fight
I love it when it's done right
>it's a plot point the villain is left handed
>protagonist cuts off his left hand
>he was actually right handed all along
The kinda shit that could actually happen as a big fake out.
>antagonists were the good guys all along
>protagonist is the villain by the end of the series
Berserk powerups from anger or rage.
Based every time.
>defeated antagonist becomes comic relief character
>MC gets curbstombed by the big bad and actually loses
Special OP/ED for certain episodes, or evolving OP/ED.
>all characters, including friends and old foes of the protagonist reuniting before the grand final battle for a banquet party to relax and have fun before the storm comes
>character appears to be having trouble fighting an enemy but he's compromising his fighting style greatly just so he doesn't cause collateral damage
>despite this he still holds his own anyway
>characters combine all their powers into a single attack
>character who was holding back their true, massive amount of power, loses their cool for a moment or whatever, and unleashes a massive attack far beyond the scale of what we've seen before
>they immediately readjust back to holding back and express regret for themselves slipping
even in childish battle shonen, it gets me hype
>*flips skirt and dashes out of scene*
>transformation sequences that both do and don't distort/freeze time
youtube.com
>the rare occasion you see it in real time
youtube.com
>Normally affable and friendly protagonist gets pushed to the brink and transforms into an apeshit berserker
>Everyone, even the villains, are horrified by it
CG transformation sequences were a mistake.
That one sword angle.
When does this happen besides Death Note?
>tenacious grin before or during a fight
>girl secret admirer
>mc and villain find some relateable ground
>my memories
one of the best example of that is Evangelion where there trying to stop the hacking of the MAGI and it keeps switching between Ritsuko and the hacking status. Randomly just before she stops it cuts to misato's ass in that skirt she always wears.
"The novel extra" or "To be a power in the shadows"
God I fucking love that trope.
Chad mc for an alpha male like me.
>The chilled character gets serious
Pic related
>hero gains power by killing other creatures/people to absorb their strength
>final fight vs villain and the hero and friends are too weak to win
>villain is toying with them but wants to see the hero's full power
>villain forces hero to kill a friend, either during the fight by accident or makes him choose to do it, boosting his power and enraging him
>they proceed to fight on even levels, hero is absolutely bloodlusted and villain is loving it, even when on the backpedal
I always thought something like this would be pure kino. Is there anything close to this out there already?
Got no choice, gotta use "that" move.
>Joke character is the real villain
>Bonus if said joke character is NOT a jester or clown, who you would expect to have this role
>Group fight
>Character goes in an opponent
>Suddenly a third character appears out of nowhere to intercept the attack. usually by parrying in an awesome fashion.
>"I'll be your opponent"
>characters who bullshit their ways
pic related, Usopp, Okabe Rintaro, please give me more.
I adjusts my glasses because sometime one lens is closer to one eye than the other
>Tough villain is defeated and disappears from the story
>Come back later, after a whole bunch of power escalation
>Is still treated as serious threat
>14-years-old woman are forced to protect Japan of aliens/godzilla/Gods/americans with sword/lasers/magical powers
So, japan is a patriarchal First-world island that enjoy kill little girls
>Students can use rooftop
>Students have coloured hair and or different hairstyle than bob cut or ponytail.
Bonus point for wearing hair products, or accessories/jewelery
>that enjoy kill little girls
Hatoba Tsugu taught me this much
dude shut the fuck up
Villainess becomes the love interest
>Is still treated as serious threat
He doesn't know Haki so probably not
You think the fences ontop of roof tops are to prevent falling or suicide?
>comic relief character is actually competent
Yuji did nothing wrong
That’s because he’s just THAT good. He never needs to open his eyes.
>main character's final powerup involves a henshin sequence with an over the top new costume despite it having no precedence in the entire story
Shin Sekai Yori
>The aura of the villain/antihero is so powerful that it warps the atmosphere of the entire show and paralyzes everyone in fear
>For once the stoic character actually emotes and reacts to something
OR
>Stoic character takes part in the hijinks of the slice-of-life/beach/holiday episode, all while remaining completely stoic
>tropes
Has there ever been a person who used this word who wasn't cancer?
>Comedic side character is actually stronger than two edgy main characters
Both of those are god-tier
>henshin
>over the top new costume
What the fuck were they thinking.
>Villain is defeated, but instead of surrendering with dignity he begs and pleads for his life to the point of hysterical screaming and crying that makes you feel bad for him
I love it and I hate it. Best example I can think of is Naomi Seiji's death in Accel World.
user it was already over the top. At least it's not grand.
Not necessarily dumb but
>Mc grows more cyncial the longer the story progresses.
>The villain is correct.
Love this shit and love that guy.
>comedic side character takes a very long nap
Posting tropes I LOVE:
>Isekai'd MC's first action is to make Japanese food, and when she shares it with the natives of that world, they love it and reckon it's superior to their own food
>Isekai'd MC teaches them concepts like Crop rotation and controlled burning of forest to modify landscapes to their benefits
>Harem MC has a single male friend who is inferior in every way. This is a harem manga, we don't need any other male characters apart from the MC!
>Katana slices through larger swords
>Crazy character that likes killing
>MC has the weakest power but somehow manages to be the strongest person
>Female love interest is introduced as one of the strongest but when MC comes along, she starts to job to everyone and the MC always needs to be there to save her. This is why Asuna is popular.
>Character uses a move that would kill them/make them weaker/drain the life force or whatever, and nothing happens afterwards. There's a reason why nobody remembers Chrno Crusade today.
>Firearms are useless to swords. There's a reason why everyone wanted to play GGO when they saw it.
>Demon king or whatever turns out to be a girl/loli
>MC spares a hitler because he doesn't want to be as bad as him
>Dark skin, blonde male walks up to the female love interest/s when the MC is nearby, and he has to rush in there and pull her away
>Japan being right in any argument
>MC kills male villains but spares female ones
>Characters playing a video game too seriously to the point where they crying and begging not to be killed in game.
>Shota has big dick :^)
>MC doesn't want to lay his hands on females even when they're pining for his dick
>MC doesn't know that the females are obviously pining for his dick
>Camera focuses on the breast/buttock when it shouldn't
>EEEEEEEEEEEEEEH?!
>UMI DA!
>Females of a different race look like human females, but with a bit different characteristics from animals, but the males are just full on anthro
>Generic mook ends up having a lot of screen time
>OP 1 plays in critical moments near the end
Decade Complete isn't even over the top, its just hideous.
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT HIDEOUSLY UGLY THING?!?!? what the fuck. what the fuck. what the fuck.
love these but tht manga about the animal school where the guys are straight up animals is badass
you bastards. get the fuck off of this board
>joke character is the most powerful and competent character in the entire series
>hides it
Stick a grenade in your mouth and off yourself crossboarder.
Boy did I almost think you were serious
It's thinly veiled, a proper bait if you will.
>the wise and calm master goes full berserker rage mode
addition
>Old man btfo of everyone and goes "hmmm, I guess I'm getting too old for this"
>MC yells and does an all out attack against the final boss after emotional build up with epic ost in the background
i've seen it time and time again but it still gives me an emotional boner and makes me jizz feels
was there a bigger waste of potential in any anime?
plenty.
it's a very simple power. It's just a ridiculously strong one.
high iq post
that's an american
Cringe

Canadian*
Light was the villain since episode one.
Yeah. How else do you refer to clichés in anime?
kek. fuck Americans
Have you not seen Ed Edd and Eddy?
OPS starts playing in background during the end of a last episode
No and I don't ever want to. That thing looks fucking revolting. What the fuck is up with these bastard western subhumans and their fetish for ugliness? Why can't these artistically inept fuckers into aesthetics like anime?
I mean yeah but I don't think it's played like that
>Generic mook ends up having a lot of screen time
>he just shitposts until he drops the greatest gem on this thread in the very last line
Why?
>character becomes op thrpugh pure training and SHEER FUCKING WILLPOWER
Are you trying to say anime is solely made of universally-pleasing aesthetics and sexiness?
MC is unaware how exceptional his power is
One punch man?
>Final fight and MC is totally drained
>He gathers what little power he has to go in for one final attack
>One by one every friend and ally to this point shows up to give him some support and help clear his path, showcasing the best of their abilities so he can make that last decisive blow without anything getting in his way
With your middle finger?
Cute visor tho.
Background character is a villain
>villain pushes the gentle giant too far and they go absolutely apeshit
>Villain realises too late just how collosally they just fucked up as they start getting overpowered
No, but it's leagues better than 99.99% of western shit.
>Female villain becomes the mc's love interest
he cute
Examples please
side trope to this
>"you fool this defense is absolutely impenetrable you'll ne-
>Barrier cracks
basically anything where smug cunts get their shit handed to them is my jam
KABEDON!
If you're a virgin right now it's because you haven't tried it.
>character mortally wounded/dead and still standing
>when you only watch a show based on how attracted you are to the characters instead of prioritizing how good the jokes are/ story is
>Serious no-nonsense character has an uncharacteristic dorky hobby.
>He's ridiculously serious an passionate about it.
I love this.
No user, you mustn’t you *that* or it will shorten your lifespan!
>Temporary truce between factions just to stop the berserk one
>Every American character looking and sounding the same
This one's not as bad but still.
>story begins with middle or end part taken out of chronological order
>theres a timeskip where the mc returns as punished mc and you slowly find out how shit got fucked
>the end is parallel to the beginning, foreshadowing a cycle of events
>character names their sword
>the ending shows the mc retiring out to the country to become a simple farmer/fisherman
>Character is so strong that he fights without even standing up/sitting in his chair and not showing any expression
I fucking love it
[/spoiler]test
test
>making excuses for ugly shit
Needs more realism man. Typical anime style is just orders of magnitude better. I know those lazy western fuckers intentionally make it ugly so that no one expects standards from them but they really need to catch on.
Trips of truth.
I actually do that IRL without noticing and people have called me out on it a few times already
I personally like when some ridiculously overpowered female character is being a bitch with the characters she's toying with. Really gets my hate boner going.
>MC and big bad aren't all that different and could easily have switched sides if their circumstances were changed
>MC and big bad team up to fight the world-ending biggest bad
>big bad interrupts MC's saved-the-world party by saying they've got unfinished business
>series ends right as the MC and big bad's fight starts
>Hero and villain end up having such a heartfelt rivalry that they're basically bros
>>I actually do that IRL without noticing and people have called me out on it a few times already
Radiant
Radiant but she dies right after she falls in love
Index every novel.
>Character is shown as extremely smart/strong
>All his smartness/strength is only shown indirectly, you only get frames where he comes at somebody and somewhere at the end of the episode he just "defeated" everyone already with zero action
>Actually jobs to MC and his gimmick is really mediocre
le big booby kawaii anime girl is the epitome of fucking laziness. Look at those chipmunk teeth. That mouth with the middle erased. Those soulless mass produced eyes. I'd rather watch something that looks "ugly" than something so generic and bland, but thats not really a problem for me because my sex drive is in check and I don't feel the need to jack off to everything I see. In general, I agree that western animation is worse than japanese, but I really hope that what you just posted wasn't your best example.
I feel like you're overreacting because you feel the need to fit in
It's called bait.
I was actually baiting you by pretending to be dumb enough to reply to your bait
Woah, amazing.
>hating on ed, edd n eddy
really? there's hundreds of awful, awful bland cal art shit with not an ounce of creativity or humor going in their designs to shit on but you choose to spit on a series that's well stylized?
>Those soulless mass produced eyes.
>insulting anime's iconic large eyes
FUCK YOU. It should be mass produced because it looks good.
>I'd rather watch something that looks "ugly" than something so generic and bland
That's the epitome of shit taste.
>wasn't your best example
Of course it's not, i said typical for a reason.
>I feel like you're overreacting because you feel the need to fit in
Newfag kun, j'm just a purist.
ha haha hahahahahahah
>MC slowly rises to power and you get to see them train and grow.
Too many shows just go from fight to fight and be like yeah they know new shit that you never saw them learn.
hot
It still looks absolutely terrible compared to the typical anime. I haven't looked at western shit in years.
Snk
...
>hero and established villain are ducking it out
>either physically or psychologically
>perhaps fighting, perhaps trying to outmaneuver each other's plans
>suddenly a new unexpected threat shows up out of nowhere
>it presence alone changes the direction of the series until it is dealt with or even till the very end
Unironically friendship power-ups, especially when everyone is in the background cheering the protagonist
high school trope
This is my favorite trope ever.
Every variation of "Where are you looking, your opponent is right here!"
>mc hurts themself doing stupid hero things and his friends try to stop hin
>reponds that "it can't be helped"
I hate this gayass trope.
>protagonist & antagonist are fighting
>an outsider makes a comment or statement that offends both of them
>they briefly stop their fighting to tell off this guy
Show By Rock
Kill yourself sourcefag
>Character gets so angry they stack overflow and become tranquil as hell
>Everyone shits their pants
That's such a good trope that doesn't even fall in the dumb troup category
you first
>something "scary" happens
>girls
>Villain has angel wings
>Character tries to touch his friend
>It can't
>"Sorry, I'm dead"
>Protagonist loses his main power to the final antagonist
>MC party has a trainament arc
>Still jobs to villain
>MC is in trouble but...
>...O MY TRAINING FLASHBACK
>instant power-up
Just a whole slew of Respect for your rivals/enemies
>Opponents square off
>One will give up their advantage or even handicap themselves to fight the other as an equal
>Character won't tolerate someone shit talking their rival
>Rival dies
>Character mourns
It's just so cheesy and great
Is this that there bug rape anime?
Protag must team up with the Villain to play a sports game
The worst fucking trope is when 2 characters are having a dramatic conversation and in the middle one of the characters will say the other's name during a pause.
>Guy-Kun: and that is why I get so angry
>...
>Girl-Chan: Guy-Kun...
They never follow it up with anything and it makes no fucking sense to randomly say their name in the middle of the discussion with the ONE and ONLY person you're talking to. It adds nothing to the conversation and makes the scene awkward and overly melodramatic, yet you see it in every anime.
Why would you adjust your glasses with more than one finger? Those other fingers not touching the glasses' bridge might touch the lenses and leave prints
That fact you won't enjoy something just based on how it looks shows how shallow you are.
yea, not him but I used to say this until my favorite manga got a CGI adaptation
Agreed for once.
>Is this that there bug rape anime?
Ooga booga what?
No. No bugs here, just goblins.
Literally any character with a long cloak that hides their arms.
Berserk was porn for me.
>you're not allowed to enjoy art
JESUS CHRIST fuck off
Damn. That's brutal... My condolences friend.
Remember when whatstheirfaces ruined the iconic Berserk
Remember when Polygon Pictures ruined the iconic Fist of the North Star
Remember when Production I.G. ruined the iconic Cyborg 009
>Female love interest is introduced as one of the strongest but when MC comes along, she starts to job to everyone and the MC always needs to be there to save her
This is one seriously bugs me. I don't mind tough women turning into damsels, but then I end up thinking "Oh they must not have been strong to begin with." It's just bad characterization.
Everyone randomly gathers at mc s house and steals all his food.
what was it anons? i need to know
What kind of trope is this? Do you watch nothing but shitty Slice of Life shows?
This is why I sincerely hate timeskips. One chapter ends with the character heading off to train, the next chapter is a mysterious figure in ragged clothes (the mc) returning. Don't fucking show me flashbacks, just progress normally and thoroughly please.
>you're not allowed to enjoy art
Is that a Freudian slip I hear? Mr. I hate Ed Edd and Eddy
This is by far one of the worst and unnecessary things in anime.
What the fuck is wrong with you user?
art1
/ɑːt/Submit
noun
noun: art; plural noun: arts; plural noun: the arts
1.
the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
>primarily for their beauty
I forget the name, it was Something Something Archipelago and a bunch of teens get stuck on an island full of giant bugs. Lot of rape and pissing themselves
>character faints from a common cold
Japs are retarded but it somehow gets even more ridiculous
>sick person is in bed surrounded by terrified friends/family who treat the person as if they're dying
This is where I turn the show off.
>Character is so powerful that he can solve every problem himself with no effort
>Doesn't bother because he doesn't give a shit
>Except for that ONE time
School cultural festival episodes and chapters/story arcs.
>Sudden downpur
>They have to run under a shelter and cuddle until it's over
A big plus is if the girl is afraid of thunder
No. Clearly he's forgotten what art is, if he's saying that. And I get the feeling you're someone who'll defend western shit just because.
Lets hear it for the future pirate king
>In general, I agree that western animation is worse than japanese
Today I will remind them.
>minor character is actually way more powerful than the main cast, hell, even the protagonist
>can easily slap the shit of many villains
>doesn't do anything important and stays out of any conflict
>Secondary character living among primary characters (and whom almost nobody in the manga gives too much attention) actually have mysterious powers and is the real deal
This right here.
>Villain that is also the most cultured, mature and affable character you've ever met, when he's off-work.
What are you even dong here Yea Forumstard?
Of all the particular exports from Yea Forums, I hate these threads the most.
Best boy with best girl.
>Cute girls with a sexy evil form/alter ego
It's amazing how westerns could animate that shit but still have it look so ugly. What a waste of resources.
>character gets very angry and starts screaming because their close friend makes a dumb harmless joke at their expense
Are Japanese people this anti-social?
It's called tsukkomi. It's a joke routine.
>Villainess corrupts the MC
I fucking love psychotic grins
>Pinocchio
>Ugly
Neck yourself.
you're confusing the actual show with the reddit abridged version
Ed edd and eddy is a classic and shall be protected at all costs
Sasuga Ainz-sama!
Stop embarrassing yourself and go back Yea Forumsnigger.
Anime wouldn't exist without Disney faggot.
And if you wouldn't bang Ariel then you're just a faggot.
I had a DnD character where I got the DM to let me make a custom attack like that where the enemy doesn't die until I sheath my katana (worked sort of like a monks Quivering Palm) after doing a quest
I don't care if it was autism it was awesome
This.
Best animation on a TV Animated Series by far.
I just watched an episode recently after not seeing it for 15 years. The amount of animation is insane. Constant movements and rapid changes in facial expressions. The budget for the show must have been insane. You never see that amount of detailed animation in TV anime nowadays.
The way they make scenes look more dynamic by having even stationary characters have vibrating outlines is pretty interesting, I don't think I've seen any other shows doing that
>Anime wouldn't exist without Disney faggot.
You don't know that, it might not have large eyes but that doesn't mean it wouldn't have existed. Anyway, what point are you trying to make? Modern anime looks nothing like that stuff. It looks better and that's good.
>And if you wouldn't bang Ariel then you're just a faggot.
She's not even attractive.
Moeshit that you fap to would not exist.
Modern anime still has the huge eyes which were directly taken off of Disney
>She's not even attractive.
Confirmed gay.
I bet you wouldn't fuck Alice the OG Loli either.
>Modern anime looks better
By better you mean samey and generic with swappable hairstyles in a brightly lit setting. 80's and 90's anime had more defined and detailed character designs and even that looked nothing like what Disney was doing.
Actually, even the real DB's Mr. Popo had a solid power level. His lowest was 300, but this was before Z, which puts him close to King Piccolo's level. Then around 1030 by the Saiyan Saga, which is close to Raditz, and still higher than Goku's at the time. Mr. Popo could've just slapped everyone's shit up until Raditz, but he stayed out of it.
Disney was into furry, nothing would change since animation was already developing by the 1910’s.
Westernshit lovers like you think anime owes its existence to the west.
80s and 90s anime(well more so 80s) were kind of a mix of Disney and American Comics.
The adopted the "realistic" style of American comics but mixed it with the Disney cuteness.
Tezuka took that inspiration and that's only a small part of anime's style anyway. Half of anime simply have realistically proportioned eyes. Besides this doesn't mean that ugly western garbage isn't shit.
>Character that always has their eyes closed opens them
>By better you mean samey and generic with swappable hairstyles in a brightly lit setting.
Sure. Anime have better aesthetics. It looks good you thickheaded retard, that's the point. "Generic" isn't a criticism. Visual media is a generic subset of art.
What kind of headcanon bullshit is this. Power levels didn't exist in the DB days because there was no way to trace it since they didn't have scouters yet so I don't know where the fuck you're getting these random ass numbers. There's nothing in the original DB that even remotely implies Popo is as strong as King Piccolo. Also where the fuck are you getting 1030 from? No one ever saw what Popo's power level is and it's never been mentioned. Honestly you're retarded.
See $0.50 has been added to your account.
>nothing would change since animation was already developing by the 1910’s.
Except anime wouldn't exists as it does now since Tezuka wouldn't be able to rip-off Disney's style.
Also 1910s animation was mostly being done in America and Europe.
Early japanese animation was nothing like you see today look at this shit from 1929 youtube.com
And shortly after that it was just bad rip-offs of Disney and WB cartoons for a while.
>that's only a small part of anime's style anyway
LMAO
That's the biggest part of anime style.
Moeshit simply wouldn't exist without it.
>Character gets impaled by several javelins and is basically dead
>Pulls back from the brink of death with the sheer power of will and continues fighting even whilst there's several items impaled in them
>Bonus: Straight up fucking rips out a javelin out of them and uses it as a weapon.
To be honest anything with the power of rage/will is great.
You are the only retard here since you're trying to use objectivity in art which is always subjective
>being this new
Nah, actual cel shading and having anatomically correct characters are more fundamental characteristics. Also stop fucking replying Yea Forumstard i'm trying to fap to Chitoge.
>Anime have better aesthetics
lol
Sure you fucking braindead Yea Forumsnigger. Same way coca cola doesn't objectively taste better than sewer water.
Excuse me, I happen to like sewer water, thank you very much.
>side-character being a jobber for a long time gets a power up so insane that he becomes protagonist tier
Stop replying twice you nigger. Get the fuck off my board!!
I liked Nisekoi(more the manga) but those eyes are Disney as fuck.
If anything most Disney characters are far more anatomically correct than anime, what the shit are you talking about?
Everybody and their mothers have poked fun at how anatomically incorrect anime characters tend to be.
You're mentally ill.
>make a $5000 mistake at work
>get calmly told that it's okay
>deserve to be called retarded, but it doesn't happen
>people disagreeing with other over fucking cartoons
>they get called retarded and/or niggers, and they also legitimately wish death on one another
"And I think to myself, what a wonderful world."
-Louis Armstrong
Tom Bombadil?
>people bashing anime for being same-looking while also talking about disney
popo was 5x stronger than tao pai pai
wtf
Pot kettle.
>"Disney totally didn't inspire anime"
>"T-t-trust me guys.."
zoomers are funny
stfu already. that doesn't mean Disney isn't shit. Anime hardly looks like that.
Gesugao
Osamu Tezuka and his contemporaries WERE way before their time, after all
>secondary MC gets a major powerup and still jobs a lot
Hahahhahahahaha
Seething
Tezuka was a furfag before it was cool.
Only a valid complaint if it's CGI Disney.
>anatomically correct
have you seen a face before?
Elric, not an anime tho
Berserk, the post
not just an anime trope. The boromir death scene and Asuka's last battle in EoE come to mind.
>two characters dash past each other at light speed
>5 second pause
>one of them gushes blood and keels over
>character staring
>"chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii"
>Devils cry when they never cry
>AIs becoming less artificial
>FREEDOM
>best girl
That's Michelle.
Wait, is it really chiiiiiiiii? I thought it was jiiiiiiiiiiiii this whole time.
I seldom talk about this with people outside of my family, but I am genuinely hard of hearing. I mishear things a lot, thanks for checking out my blog.
I've always seen it subbed as jii
it's jii
is this the series where the guy has a scary face but is angelic in the heart?
classic disney characters are drawn with cartoonishly large eyes explains the anime counterpart.
>MC about to get btfo
>villain cuts in to save MC because nobody else gets to kill him
>but actually, how did you discover my secret?
>I guessed and you just confirmed
>*villain goes apeshit at having been outwitted*
>how did you know he was the enemy?
>I didn't, I was going to knock them both out and got lucky on the first try
kurapika's is bredd gud
nice digits
>9 nine tail fox inside him
>opening theme plays during the final fight
>major plot development happens in the last few minutes of the episode
>the ED song plays for it's full runtime instead of the cut version
>take unreal amount of damage
>still stand up
i love it
Shakugan no Shana. Very poorly executed though.
saint seiya omega pulled this shit twice.

My arm hair just twitched from typing this.

>Character fights for JUSTICE™
Why would anyone use the pointer finger?
Whenever I use it to adjust my glasses it feels weird.
. . .this is literally from the last "Tropes you hate thread" that ended this morning. You unironically collected a shit ton of the most popular answers and just put them here. Holy shit, you're despicable, but commendable for your work ethic.

I absolutely fucking adore it. Bonus points if somebody is crying while hugging the autist and he stands there with confused expression, asking "Why are you crying though?".
>a once intimidating character has been so surpassed by the power escalation that it's not even funny anymore

always get a boner for that trope but boner always dies when the love interest inevitably calms the MC down.
>Misunderstandings that make the MC look badass
normally I hate misunderstandings with a passion but this one I not only tolerate but fucking love.
Which Elric story though? Closest story I can think of that happening are the Dreaming City and Stormbringer, and neither even fit the description that much.

that part is so much better in the LN. I still love this series though, among other things because of this
>...got changed

>my jap steel katana folded a gorillion times
slices through a european long sword or a fantasy giant buster sword
>bonus points if the anime isnt a fantasy and tries to be realistic
>Attempting to maximize human wellbeing globally at the cost of less significant sacrifices is only supported by villains
>having anatomically correct characters
Examples on this one? Sounds quite cool but doesn't ring any bells for me.
Protagonist does not mean hero. Sure it's often the case, but protagonist only denotes that the character's position is the one with most focus or from whose point of view the plot unfolds, and antagonist is his opposing force. The terms have no moral connotations like hero and villain. A villain can be a protagonist. Arguably an example in Death Note, depending how you view Light.
>>Hero and Villain ends up getting married
what anime
I meant for the most part you jokers. The eyes are obviously large. I should've said generally anatomically correct.
This plus the additional
>he seriously fucks shit up/kills someone and his normal personality then has to deal with what he has done
Fuck you, I love Decade Complete and DiEnd Complete, suck my nuts.
>Main characters parents meet main girl
>Treat her like she's already their daughter in law
>Treat her better than their actual son
>Tell their loser kid "you better put a fucking ring on that" the second she leaves
Dumb kid.
>Captain Tyler is this to a T
But wasn't Tyler the exception by actually being competent?
Character transforms from a beta to a chad.
So basically you just have a fetish for characters to actually show some emotional range. Nice.
I'm always disappointed when this trope doesn't exist in everything I watch/read.
> Amazonian girl doing Kabedon
The "greater good" matters jack shit when the character cackles manically and has fucking glowing demon eyes. Even the comedy-character swim-lesson guy turns against him in the end. It's all about out how the author plays sympathies and the intention of the work.
Light was objectively evil and insane you brainlet. Only retards try to paint him as an anti-villain. He's straight up a psycho with a god complex who used muh world peace as a justification to kill and impose his will. Also
>hurr all i need to do to fix the world is kill and impose fear
Literally every fucking ''greater good' type conqueror worth their salt is also supremely skilled in in creating, organizing and managing their utopia. Light was just a mass murderer.
This triggers me so hard it's been reason to drop shows for me in the past (and main reason I don't want to touch SAO). If you're going to nerf a competent female immediately after introduction it's better to simply not introduce a competent female at all. A consistent and charming damsel is way better than a fucking jobber.
>MC and rival start out as enemies.
>fierce rivalry ensues
>due to circumstance they end up.on the same side.
>team up to beat the main villain.
>after said team up they have one last fight to settle their score.
>there is no reason for them to fight, but they still need to duke it out to put their unwarranted grudges against eachother behind them.
Not him but Ruroni Kenshin is one of them.
You should probably take an anatomy class at some point during your community college stay, user. People, especially their heads, should not look like oversized and out-of-proportion babies.
All seriousness aside, what you're trying to imply, that you like them for the "realism" aspect, is a pretty common mistake for newbies and youngins. They're not realistic, they're stylized in a way that's pretty common to all anime. Realistic shit turns into stuff like Hana no Aku or more artsy pieces. Anime style is mass-produced based off of original Disney designs. What you SHOULD be doing is removing "anatomically correct" and "realistic" from your vocabulary, because that's not really what you're looking at here.
>that 3rd pose

excuse me, but my cat wife is not dumb!
>The weakest character still tries his best to overcome adversity despite knowing that he sucks
>The weakest character is the strongest BECAUSE he's weak
>MC is doesnt understand human interactions, social norms/is autistic
>Literally the entire concept of Reverse Isekai
>Character switches his weapon to his dominant arm
this is kino
>Character ALWAYS declares the name of his special move and scene cuts to a black screen with the kanji on it or the kanji appears on the screen as he does it
Dumb Nigger.
>Opponent is about to seal the deal and beat down the other.
>Hit looks like its about to land.
>HOWEVER.
It gets me everytime.
I loved it when Buu did it.
But they literally are
>anatagonists doing objectively horrific things but being totally oblivious to their horrific nature due to them thinking the ends justify the means
>bonus points if they're scientists
He grew into competence.
>the MC gets a new form
>the antag gets a new form
>the sword gets a new form
The lower the stakes, the more brutal the fight.
>protag becomes so strong that they begin to question their motivations for becoming strong in the first place
>protag spends all of their time meditating or doing menial but reflective tasks while everyone else around them is confused or even disturbed at their change in behavior
>random background characters hear the protag talking aloud to themself about the thoughts they're poring over and think they've lost it
Lame resolution:
>protag gets exasperated and says something like "I don't get it... guess that stuff doesn't really work like I thought" and goes back to how they were
Cool resolution:
>scene where it zooms in on protag's face and any music stops, where there's a moment of realization or enlightenment that develops the character and their purpose/resolve
God tier resolution:
>protag has multiple moments of realization that make them more and more discontent with their previous life, leading to an entire shift in the tone of their character and development as well as the story as a whole
>but as the story goes on he becomes an incredibly competent indivudual
Good God, this is orgasmic when well executed
>Background jobber characters actually make some progress. Even if they still job every contest, they prove that they're at least pacing the MC and co., even if they're a lap behind.
My biggest gripe with Initial D; Iketani at least show's that he has the basic knowledge to be okay, and I think it would have been better if he had shown enough skill to at least pull some drifts and face off against the nameless losers that Takumi smokes, even if he'd still get smoked by the people Takumi actually faces off against.
>evil guy is redeemed and reformed and becomes part of MC's crew
>ends up being the final boss
Legitimately didn't expect it because I thought it was impossible for reformed villains to become evil again. And it was really sad too.
The manga is Shibatora.
No, you're thinking of Angel Densetsu. This is Liar Game.
>comic relief character completely steals the show
>an immortal being grants mysterious power to MC and follows him around observing what he'll do
I'm not sure if it's a trope but I freaking love it. I'm not gay but I selfinsert as C.C.
I'll bite, name three (3) times this happens
Hell yeah,
It’s why I loved all the naruto movies
>You should probably take an anatomy class at some point during your community college stay, user. People, especially their heads, should not look like oversized and out-of-proportion babies.
Stop pretending to be retarded.
>All seriousness aside, what you're trying to imply, that you like them for the "realism" aspect
I like both the realistic and unrealistic elements that combine to form it's overall aesthetic.
>They're not realistic, they're stylized in a way that's pretty common to all anime.
I know. Stuff like CEL shading isn't completely realistic of course but it has realistic elements.
>Realistic shit turns into stuff like Hana no Aku or more artsy pieces.
I obviously didn't mean completely realistic to 3dpd you dolt.
>Anime style is mass-produced based off of original Disney designs.
More like Tezuka took a tiny bit of inspiration from and made it his own thing before it evolved into what anime is today. I shall remind you again that anime doesn't look like flat ugly Disney shit.
>What you SHOULD be doing is removing "anatomically correct" and "realistic" from your vocabulary, because that's not really what you're looking at here.
No one's talking about perfect realism akin to ultra realistic cgi you fool.
>Stop pretending to be retarded.
I'll stop when you stop being actually retarded.
>I like both the realistic and unrealistic elements that combine to form it's overall aesthetic.
You basically agree with me here, so I'm just gonna stop reading your post at this point. Ta ta.
>huge text on an empty screen
>There's still no tapestry of Koizumi's 14 page RISING SUN finisher against hitler-san.
What the fuck is even the point of Mahjong?
Adjusting your glasses like an anime character is actually the better way to do it as you bend the frames least that way.
>I'll stop when you stop being actually retarded.
Yea right you faggot, go back to Yea Forums
Enemies that have been fighting since the series began
Their rivalry is bitter and deep
That man or group reares their head
Both drop whatever they are doing, whatever schemes they have going and have an instant sit down peace accord and pow-wow over how to handle the situation.
Actually evil asshole villians. No boo hoo bad past bullshit. No nice from a certain angle.
They are indeed pricks and if given a chance between doing two things. One where they will get what they want without hurting anyone and one where they will get what they want while hurting absolutely everyone involved they will do the latter. Why? Because that makes them happy.
Evil cunts losing to the dick. Hard.
Bonus points if she's an unironic dyke who's thoroughly fucked into being a traditional fem housewife.
Am I autistic for doing this?
>Evil dyke dicked into houswife status
You can't give me a boner this hard without providing an example
>Villain is impotent and asexual
>I shall remind you again that anime doesn't look like flat ugly Disney shit.
The irony here is that Japan produces easily some of the flattest animation of the modern era because the sweatshop work model simply doesn't allow for detailed keyframes.
Teacher: Okay class settle down, it's time to begin homeroom! Also I know this is sudden, but before we begin, I'd like to introduce a brand new transfer student joining our class.
Class: EEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHH?! TENKOUSEI?!
Teacher: That's right! Now come on in and introduce yourself to the class!
*Sparkling noise as cute girl walks in.*
*All eyes on the girl as glitter and bubbles surround the classroom*
Cute girl: Hajimemashite! Watashi wa cute girl who's gonna be the main love interest desu! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu! *Giggles and smiles with eyes closed*
Guys: *Faces turn red while steaming* WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Girls: *Blushing* AAAAAAAAAAAA! KAWAIIIIIIIIIII!
Teacher: Okay then Cute girl-chan, why don't you go ahead and sit right next to Main Character-kun? He's sitting in the back row right next to the window!
MC-kun: EEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHH?! YOU'RE THE GIRL RUNNING WITH A SLICE OF TOAST IN YOUR MOUTH WHO BUMPED RIGHT INTO ME THIS MORNING!
Cute girl: EEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHH?! YOU'RE THE GUY WHO WAS LOOKING AT MY PANTIES! BAKA! ECCHI! HENTAI!
*Camera pans up to the sky*
Class: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!
>""""smart"""" character has glasses
Are you kidding? They just don't animate them and simply use detailed still-frames in most cases.
youtube.com
Here you go.
>character lost an eye due to an incident a few years ago
>Arbitrary Naming conventions
I'm just a sucker for that corny shit.
>descendants who look identical to a distant ancestor
Everything is stylized, even realism is a style.
Anime while stylized relies much more on anatomical correctness, where as western stuff relies heavily on stylization.
>girl confesses her love and proposes marriage at the same time.
>Side characters deal with major villains or problems now and then
The difference between anime and western approach is that anime takes realistic characters and bends and exaggerates certain features, cartoons take abstract shapes and construct characters out of them.
>cartoons take abstract shapes and construct characters out of them
Yea kinda like Phineas and Ferb. It looks extremely ugly. Anime is so much better than than this western shit because it actually tries to make things look beautiful and isn't afraid to incorporate realistic elements into it's art.
>fight scene
>main character against the the ropes
>bad guy gets a good hit in
>zoom in to MC's eye
>"not done yet motherfucker"
Space Battleship Yamato 2199 did this a ton and I loved it
There are literally 1000s of anime girls that are sexier than Alice or any deformed girl from any western cartoon. Try to prove me wrong, YOU CAN'T.
This is perfect, i love it.
Patrician example. The final fight with Aizen was really satisfying with both his shinigami and hollow powers built up by Ichigo over the years being sacrificed for a final attack. Zangetsu bidding him farewell for the last time really made the finality of the fight and closure of the series (the arcs after don't exist) that much more melancholic.
I'll probably get shit for this but I really like when it turns out that the thing MC wanted was inside him all along, I'm not kidding. I think it's kinda wholesome
Timeskip ending. Especially if it shows the characters married and shit.
Literally Broly
kek, fantastic post
Wonder just how many anime exactly there are that have done precisely this
Male MCs stripping
MC1 and MC2 having unrequited gay moments
name 3
Ok this one is a classic.
>Main character is training while the villain is beating his friends to an inch of their lives.
>At the last moment when one of them is about to die the MC comes back stronger than ever and beats them cleanly with relative ease.
>"This [device/spell] is designed specifically to defeat [MC's superpower]!"
>MC overcomes it by flexing his superpower harder than it's ever been flexed before
It's the sort of thing that instantly becomes lame as fuck when overdone or done poorly, but never fails to be immensely satisfying when done well. I generally think you get to play this card once per series.
Light is just a crazy mass murderer.
>nami will never boobslap you
It's like power of friendship. On paper it's the dumbest shit, but if the plot genuinely has relied on an ensemble cast, or teamwork has been an integral part of it, then it's still bullshit but it doesn't matter at that point any more and you just enjoy the hype
>character has a hidden power that activates when he gets really pissed and he becomes OP
>what is the greater good lol
99.9999...% of the time, the delusions of someone who thinks he knows what's best for everyone and is solely qualified to decide who should get to live or die. In the case of Light specifically, "the greater good" was seriously just a world in which everyone revered him as a god and where criminals had to act more sneakily than they used to. Hell, he even stated that he would eventually go on to kill people who were lazy or who committed petty crimes, so even the argument that there would be less crime goes out the window when you consider that all the theft, extortion, etc. would be replaced with one single megalomaniac murdering everyone he didn't like.
I just rewatched the finale of Space Patrol Luluco, and it's basically a fusion of the two concepts except with "young love" replacing "friendship".
Rapid punches.
reminds me of hxh did this amazingly but reverse when Shizuku arm wresltes Gon, forces him to use all his strength, loses and then gets reminded she should've used her left instead.
this is the best one
And still manages to be hilarious.
TNE mc isn't smart but lucky? What dimension i'm in?
>favorite character returns after the timeskip totally the see, but also different
Dammit, meant to say, "the same"
go back to prison, Thad
dropped second season because of the fucking boy band ruining the first few eps
Zetsuen no Tempest.
No. I served my time.
Shit taste should be a crime.
The modest or carefree member of an evil team turning out to be really powerful
When Glasses-Kun takes of his glasses and slicks back his hair to become cool bad guy.
thanks me too

DBZ? Krillin and 18
T. Sperglord McRagetard
His luck saved his ass countless times+ made him seem a bigger deal than he actually were (especially in the academy days).
>Super intense fight that lasted a long time reaches the point where the two fighters ar just releasing blows without enough force while shouting their motives or better yet the reasons to try that the opponent changes his mind
>Fan service girl has a better story than the mc and her reasons are more interesting
>The strongest and hardest opponent to overcome when defeated reveals that he has a huge number of clones
>Scenes with rainy weather and a ramen restaurant
>Villain rejoices during the fight because he finally has an opponent with whom he can be serious
>Villain speeches and military deployments
>previous main antagonist and the MC's mentor/superior who was his archnemesis team up against the new antagonist
I just love iit when the veterans team-up.
>MCs keeps getting up no matter how many times he is beat up
It's the most cliche shit ever but fuck me do I enjoy it.
Found the stormweenie /pol/ack bootlicker
this shit right here
That could literally be me but I gotta give the other guys a chance
TTGL
Yumasaki in Durarara!!
I love this. I can only think of TTGL right now, but I know there’s more
I don’t like this because it never actually impacts something
excellent taste
>Main or side character is slowly dying
>hides it because they don’t want to worry their friends
>they die after a big fight in an emotional climax
>MC reaches summit of what they've worked for
>gets horribly maimed achieving their goal
>can't do what they love anymore
>do it anyways
God I love Kokou no Hito.
>..hes just chinese..
Light is not a villain lol
>MC arrives to fight with the villain that everyone fears, it turns out that he does represent a threat but he is sick and dying (MC doesn't know), during the fight villain technically defeats MC but his illness kills him before giving the last blow
I both love and hate that shit
>mc's only skill is their strong will and refusal to give up
I love this projection so much. God it's so fucking cute when Japan tries to justify how butthurt they are over WW2. Makes for very entertaining characters too.
Anime showing off food to be the most delicious food porn ever.
not a dumb trope, but just a trope
> character dies, but shows up in the dream of another character to guide them
pic has heavy spoilers for The Promised Neverland chapter 109
This scene to this day is still my favorite scene in all of anime
>I have to go now
>this will really be the last time you see me
>no, because you'll always be here
>yeah, now get going, koudai
the fucking best
I see you have excellent taste as well
Lagann-hen had my most favoritest example of this one.
I actually dropped One Piece of Shit because he lost
>shank MC in stomach
>buried in sand
>lmao he's alive
>"he's weakness is getting wet because stops being sand when wet!" ?????????
>expect for our hero of course he can strech without breaking and not melt instantly when near heat!
>only our villains should should have retarded weaknesses!
Never looked back and I'm happy
I went into Trigun blind and for the first few eps I thought this was the case
attack on titan
>serious threat
lol wut. He's just a side fodder and barely does anything. fuck off optard
best trope even when it's done edgy like Tokyo ghoul
tobi/obito too I guess
Why didn't Popo just btfo king piccolo?
he didn't actually follow through with anything that bad. Killed some samurai
>The power of Love and Friendship
>Plot (Insert Object here) that is used to defeat an otherwise Impossible opponent
>Villain uses the "The strong live, weak die" mindset
>MC exploits that against the villain by cheating in a fight against him/her
Any examples of this?
dude killed people for littering, here's your you
Rakudai Kishi sort of does in the second arc (not covered in the anime). MC's older brother only respects raw magical power, and considers MC's sword skills and Itto Shura, which expends his pathetic magic reserves for an entire day in one minute, "cheating" because punching above ones status is wrong.
Is there a single noble aside from MC's waifu who isn't an elitist prick in that series?
