Here's something to smile about, no season 2 of this crap.
Egao no Daika
How will it be remembered?
>Egao no Daika, The Price of Smiles
I can't believe I sat through all that
It won't, that's what happens when you give your 7/10 anime a 1/10 ending.
>Visit old thread
>Relatively dead thread, only 200 posts or so
>Close laptop to play some FIFA
>Come back
>Already at thread 2 and old thread hit bump limit
I guess it must have been an interesting episode.
>7/10 anime
That's generous.
>1/10 ending
That's also generous.
Did Stella and Yuki meet yet?
They are happily married.
Do you think Stella even remembers the woman who threw her out of the way of falling debris?
How do we fix this anime?
FIXED
Yuuki has to have some next level PTSD and nightmares with so many people she cared about dying.
I loved it, and despite the death toll (I really wish Leila didn't die) I'm glad the war ended. Their last scene was nice. Happy to have watched it with u all anons! Is there anything this upcoming season that is similar/reminiscent to The Price of Smiles?
Based and Egaopilled
I mean it wasn't bad but the ending was so fucking retarded, I expected more.
No she won't, she pressed the fix everything without consequences button.
>That's generous.
I was giving it a 8/10 though, the entire show was developed pretty well and it looked like it was building up to something even bigger, but it bite off more than it could chew and all the plot points introduced either had to be dropped or handled very poorly at the ending, that's why nobody believed they could finish it in 1 more episode and people started talking about a pĆ³ssible S2, because that was the only way to give a proper conclusion to the show, but at the end nothing of that happened, maybe for another time they will get it right.
God if only user. I fucking only.
Fuck you, I liked it.
Was fine with the ending minus Leila's death. I don't mind no s2 now that the war ended, but personally id love to see an OVA to see how everyone has adjusted. Overall, I enjoyed it.
Even better director is out of a job in the industry.
>they didn't give us a nice heartwarming scene of Stella meeting her mother
>Stella has no idea why Layla sacrificed herself for her
>Yuuki probably has no idea why Layla killed herself for an enemy
This was pretty much the only thing I was looking forward too in the finale.
What could've been.
More budget to be honest, half of the complaints were about the QUALITY and more episodes would had helped the show so much.
REMINDER THAT THE EMPIRE GOT AWAY WITH EVERYTHING
E V E R Y T H I N G
It will live on in "shows nobody remembers" threads.
T-there a couple now, r-right?
How did this piece of shit end? I dropped it halfway through.
They are sisters, even if they don't know since Layla died.
What was even the point of introducing the big bad power tripping empire leader if at the end he just went "Hmm, ok", again, good ideas so poorly handled, and not sure why.
>princess x enemy soldier
Pretty hot not going to lie.
It's like no one told the story writer that they only had 12 episodes.
So, what was the price of smiles?
Why do the even bother with a grand concept for single cour shows, anyways? A huge interplanetary war with two casts needs at least 2 cours for it to not be a complete piece of shit.
No, Stella is loyal to Lily.
The friends that died along the way.
Dropping this terrible show and doing anything else with your time.
>he didn't dump his smilecoin
Sucks to be you.
This is basically the reason why the show was bad, it was clearly builded up as a 24 episodes show but for some reason they only got to 12, I have the feeling that it was due to the poor sales but that's just a dumb thing to say anyways.
>I have the feeling that it was due to the poor sales
Anime is made months in advance, so they can't change too much while it's airing. They probably had it planned as 24 eps, only got 12, and tried to adjust for it.
Write a coherent script instead of making up shit as you go.
288 minutes of this garbage
I think it had other problems, too. The mecha designs didn't stand out. I couldn't tell you what they looked like if I tried, and I'm even a mecha otaku that can recite every main Gundam model number from memory. If the mechas aren't going to have a cool design, you might as well not have them.
The character designs looked strange and out of place as well, and althought the costumes had potential, the entire show took place in a brown, barren wasteland.
When the landscape and mechas are out to put me to sleep, what hope does the show have?
But the show only lasted 284 minutes.
Well, from that perspective I guess you have a point, I'm not a mecha fan so I wasn't really paying attention to the robots but yeah, they didn't left any sort of impression to me, I liked the characters designs though, the QUALITY was what really put me off sometimes..
worth it
Episode 1 and 2 threadposting was the only smile worthy thing of this turd pile.
I regret ever jumping on the speculah hype train Yea Forums did about Hime becoming a coldblooded genius tactician ready to bloody her hands with thousand of corpses from the Empire.
Why did they have to kill off Layla, or at least not reveal to Stella that she was her mom? I thought the whole point would be that Yuuki and Stella could bond because they are basically like sisters with the same mom. Without that their connection doesn't seem as special.
>Let's be friends because you didn't shoot me and helped me push a button
In my head millions of empire citizens starved to death. I refuse to let other people convince me otherwise.
Hime killed millions.
No time I guess
So was this the worst show of the season
Genocide makes every series better.
See: Code Geass, Guilty Crown, Shingeki no Kyojin.
It would have made more sense to drop Stella and the daughter subplot and just have Lilly make it to the tower. Have her lose her close friend near the beginning of the story so that she's driving primarily by revenge rather than just being some dumb fucking sheep solider. When she meets Layla, the ceiling collapses and Layla sacrifices herself for a complete stranger and an enemy, in order to show that she fully is committed to Yuki's ideals. This makes her heart waver and she commits to the same ideals because she's tired of losing people.
There I put more thought into this than the creators of the whole show.
I honestly can't tell if you're just baiting, but if you legitimately enjoyed this show then good for you, that's at least one egao
It wont.
>I spent this loong watching Egao no fucking Daika
what the FUCK
As much as Joshua and Yuuki
Literally the only good part of this show was the backless dress Hime wore.
I agree, but the global supply of backless dress little girls is limited, and it's a shame one was wasted on this turd.
I'm glad it ended
What a shit show
He wasn't evil or power-tripping. Never was it even implied in the show. He just had to consolidate power for the sake of preventing another civil war ravaging the nation while leaderless. The Emperor was just a prettier-looking counterpart to Soleil's Senate.
She's got a younger version of her adoptive mother with her now. Does it count as an Oedipus complex?
>Hehe, you thought it's going to be family reunion or a tragedy where Stella kills her own mother? Got you good, huh?
Repeat for all developments in the show. The staff are such fucking retards.
Solid anime, I liked it.
That's not Mob Psycho, this on the other hand is undoubtedly the best of the season.
I genuinely enjoyed it up until this episode, but nips really can't into endings. Yuuki's escort being a bunch of plebs eager to run off and die alone while the two knights do nothing, Stella shooting the other dude dead with no hesitation but then shooting the computer instead of Layla, Layla's convenient death timing, the rest of the squad somehow holding out the whole time without getting their shit stomped, and everybody just hopping out of their machines and not fighting when things stopped working are bad enough, but I can't believe they actually put a magic button on the top of a tower that shot out a light that makes everyone happy. Stella even mentions how it will hurt normal guys and it's just ignored because "what part of deus ex machina don't you understand?" It was like watching a bad Bioware game ending.
Producers know that the people making anime are hacks so more time won't help much anyway.
nololihitlerwhodidntdropthejoshuaonempirescum/10
Drop the nano desu and culminate character growth in a way that isn't saving the whole world.
Designs aside, at least the actual mecha action wasn't that bad in the first two episodes, but that's before the show stopped pretending to be super robot.
>onna no ko no hanashi
>they giggle as the show kills all relevant and not so relevant male characters
what price did you pay for the smiles, user? was it too high?
The show was doing okay, but the last episode dropped the ball. It's a shame.
RIP Joshua
He died a virgin.
Next season seems pretty poor in terms of originals
here. I would also give episode 1-11 a 7/10, but the ending is a 2.5/10.
They're half sisters, user.
At least Yuuki loved Joshua.
For some reason I'm not even mad.
Fairy gone with be cool
>more Hime's back
At least animators have good taste.
He won't be forgotten.
For taking the viewer's smile
This pic should be posted every time anyone ever brings up this show
Good to see that one of them still remembers Code:breakers.
I enjoyed this as much as buddy complex and argevollen. Surprised people actually watched this unlike those two.
They could have literally make Layla say that she's her daughter more clearly and then have Stella's mindfuck reaction by cutting some comfy empire niggers camping time, but no.
Can someone post the clone theory?
Argevollen was alot better
The ending was a little bit too happy, and overall, the final episode was predictable, while also lacking in great action scenes, so I'm half disappointed.
Overall, I very much liked the series, but I wished the ending was a little bit more uncertain, instead of showing how quickly the world healed. It ought to have shown that the first years were really harsh upon the people, when the global energy sources were deactivated.
Argevollen was decent.
Not much?
So if they had fossil fuel all along where is my aviation?
Argevollen was great. Buddy complex was just bland canned mecha anime.
But whatās stopping people from making or using other weapons?
Even Joshua going full generic MC and saving the day would've been better than what we got
Harold Miller's tombstone
>me got your back
Izana Langford's tombstone
>won't waste your death
Layla Etoile tombstone
>with love, the other mom
Gail Owen's tombstone
>pray for the future, instead of war
I felt they all were decent. Enjoying the ride is enough for me though.
Nothing. But for now, the main reason why the two nations went to war for, the global food crisis, has been narrowly averted.
Why didn't the Emperor move his capital to the lush green conquered lands? The kingdom's soldiers suck shit at infantry combat and are outnumbered heavily.
Yuki
> Lost adoptive dad 1 - Izana
> Lost adoptive dad 2 - Harold
> Lost basically her brother - Joshua
> Lost adoptive mother - Layla
What the actual fuck, why did she have to suffer so much
I always believed that yuri would save the day
I liked how Joshua led the charge to retake the capital and force the Empire to negotiate a peace treaty that included the international regulation of chrars use with the goal of switching to alternative energy sources completely within the next hundred years. It really put a smile on my face when he proposed to Yuuki and promised that they'd save the world together with passion and will.
The need for a happy ending.
That's just what war entails. It makes people having to suffer.
nope, the ones that say so are making up headcanons. at least they got a half sister title going for them.
Honestly, your posts would've been a better show than what we actually got
Based alternate reality poster.
It seems so disproportionate , the empire niggers lost 1 fucking nobody and a pseudo father figure, big whoop
Yuki basically lost her entire family , again
At least the insert song was good, I guess.
She got a cute girlfriend now tho
Everybody on the empire's side was a nobody.
Yuki has many girl friends.
WTF, this whole conversation was fucking terrible. At no point was it mentioned that chrars are destroying the soil, the only thing that makes hime's super-genocide even remotely ethical. And then she destroys the chrars and the ecosystem rebuilds seemingly overnight. Apparently shutting down the only source of energy just leads to people doing mild demonstrations instead of mass starvation.
Eh, now she's soon an adult having to live her own life, so being independent from her close family figures is fine.
The problem is rather that everything was resolved too nicely and too quickly for a forced happy ending.
cute how they snuck in yellow vests of france into the last episode.
Emperor Macron should have taken Yuuki as his loli bride waifu.
Dumb yuribait. I hope it's forgotten forever.
Being weaned off and becoming independent is entirely different to having your family die off forcing you to cope by yourself
This guy didn't even appear in the epilogue.
All the males knew what they were getting into.
Jesus fuck the empire got off scotfree.
What a complete trashfire of a show. To think any writer would actually think that just showing a few garbage episodes from the empire's perspective would somehow make everything better.
Kirara shows don't get forgotten so no.
He and Guy were part of the riot police vs. the yellow vest demonstrators.
This show ended up an irredeemable piece of shit.
That was the main flaw, how disproportionate things were. It's obvious the Empire episodes were to give a face to the enemy, and even if their lives sucked, it was not nearly proportionate to the Kingdom getting raped every episode and Yuuki's suffering. Also most of the Empire goons were not very well developed besides Stella and Owens kind of, so you feel even less for them. The one Empire nobody that died was given characterization and killed in one episode, how are we supposed to care about that?
With the farmlands in the Empire rejuvenating, and most of the armies lacking any giant robots to enforce their will upon the enemy, it's probably not feasible anymore.
oh fuck, no
>"hey, watcha doing?"
>"just chillin"
>tfw free at last
Fuck Tatsunoko
was yoru no yatterman by them too
>unrest briefly touched between happy music and Stella and Yuki smiling like retards
This fucking show! How did they get down from that 1000+ foot tower? That is just one bullshit thing among many. There's no fucking way things would be that smothe after the power that fuels the entire planet is suddenly cut. All medical facilities rendered useless. Sanitation gone. The Empire looked like any other Earth country (industrialized) and we're supposed to believe everything is fine and dandy?
Of course.
Yes, and they ruined the second half.
Eh, there were probably evacuation stairs somewhere to get down from the tower, so in that regard, that's no problem. The speed at which the entire world could easily cope with not having to rely on chrars was too fast though, I agree.
Pretty sure countries have conquered without giant robots before. And he still has way more soldiers and rifles.
I wish this ended like Mass Effect 3
>after heavy fighting, Yuki and co make it to the magic button
>Lily walks in
>āI created the chrars, they are my solution...ā
I can almost imagine them going "why do does she look like Layla?" and "I wonder who that woman is in a picture she keeps with her." in ~10 years but neither asks anything about it from the other.
>Princess and Stella are about to push the button. Both are in a very dlicate situation, they chose to save the planet but doing so will cost the smile of millions
>upbeat music starts to play
>mfw
I mean, the song is great, but it should have been used in the epilogue or something.
Wait how did they share old tech data or even view the data with no power?
did stella figure out it was her mom? she zoom on leyla's beauty mark seemed to imply that but then she never made any remark going into that direction
no
The problem most likely was that they didn't have any vehicles to transport the myriad of Grandigan soldiers around to the battlefront. And with domestic problems most likely arising from the first few weeks of chrar dropout, he might have needed the soldiers back at home, instead of far far away deep in the south to conquer stuff.
Fortunately, the entire world healed quickly within a few mere months, or at most a year, so everything was then fine and dandy.
>the only smiles I had were when I was shitposting on Yea Forums about this stupid show
>the price of those smiles was having to sit through this stupid show
Thanks guys, you made it worthwhile.
>they even asspulled their way into writing out all the lives and collateral danage pressing the button would cause
SAY IT WITH ME LADS
INCIDENTAL
GENOCIDE
that makes me kinda sad. on the one hand it spared her some pain, on the other hand I feel she should have known
They probably reverted to low energy yield like for example burning wood and coal and some oil.
>farmlands rejuvenating
That will take time to happen though, not in a season or a year.
It was great how the act of sentencing entire humanity to starvation and death was played with rainbows, smiles and glorious music. Really made me happy.
Probably started burning the hyper-fast growing greenery for the power, enjoy your post-chrar smog and chronic bronchitis.
Was it worth the price?
Was it worth the price?
Pretty sure countries have conquered without vehicles before. It's a mystery to me but I'm sure I can think of something on my daily walk.
I dropped this show early. Did the button destroy all the chrars on the planet?
Isn't that totally fucking stupid? They can still wage traditional wars.
Yeah, that's how long it ought to do. But the show is now over, there's no second season in development, and the staff wants to wrap this whole war drama story up, so there's now a happy ending with some slightly bittersweet note, and finish.
No, she was irrelevant till the end.
Dumb bitch didn't even recognize her fucking mom.
I propose a better ending. They get out of their cockpits, start shooting wildly at each other with pistols, then start bashing each other's skulls in with large rocks when they run out of ammo. Meanwhile Hime looks on like in
Grandiga wanted to conquer Soleil to solve their own food crisis. With the food crisis over and miraculously resolved thanks to nano desu, there's no need for them to stay around anymore.
Yes, totally rushed ending, but that's just how it is.
>I dropped this show early.
Pay the price first.
>Doujin Work
>A-Channel
There was no other choice tbqh senpai.
>They can still wage traditional wars.
Stella points this out and Hime is aware of it. They still decide it's better than doing nothing.
Leaving the chrars functional was never an option anyway since they would continue to sap energy from the nanobots and make the planet uninhabitable.
What a shame, showing Hime actually facing the atrocities that she caused would have put some weight to her final decision.
The ground doesn't heal instantly. And even if it did they'd still have to til it and plant crops. Why not use the ready green lands of the Kingdom?
Absolutely, and I agree.
Hime gets away with everything, the Empire gets away with everything, thatās just how it is
Yes, and?
I wish they would have jumped into each other's mouths
reading Yea Forums's threads would have been so much funnier
Because Grandigan soil is now green as well. It's not like Grandiga never had any farmlands at all. It's just that theirs was too few compared to the amount of people they had to feed, and most likely because they overused chrars too much.
Praise the nanobots for recovering all the ruined farmland in Grandiga so quickly that the Grandigans don't have to expend resources to take over Soleil anymore.
They actually did legalize loli marriage.
All in all, the finale episode was unfortunately very cowardly. Which is a shame, as the episodes before made it clear that people will have to deal with the consequences of every decision.
>mechs fight while hovering over water
>emp hits
>mechs stop without drowning and hatch locks somehow open
It was obviois by ep4 that wasnt gonna happen
WHERE THE FUCK IS THE CLONE EARTH
>Nanobots instantly heal the Grandigan soil though and grow potatoes overnight so no one starves
So much bullshit.
Nanomachines, son.
You just know some Korean animating slave googled "protestors" and took the first image that showed up for reference.
I liked notNico-nii
Couldn't they just nuke the tower before Layla activated it?
Fucking thought for a split second that she was naked in this shot
Replacing just one useless slice of life empire episode for one that shows the aftermath and how the MCs grow and adapt to it would take this show to a cool 5/10. That plus not having Leyla die for no reason would take it to a 6/10. Yuki and Stella bonding as sisters would have been a nice dynamic plus Yuki would still have one trusted authority figure and mother.
But the director made it his mission to make something that he knew no one would like, so whatever. Mission accomplished.
The Grandigans didn't deem it necessary to boobytrap the tower that they always kept in mind about possibly using one day as a chrar-disabling EMP tower, once they have the technology for it. Yeah, it's a plothole.
Looks even worse than that one guts webm.
the only way to redeem this is to kill off stella
Imagine thinking this
Ya all niggers are just pissed because...
>status: smiles protected.
Because it was stupid and the writing was stupid. Also thy try to portray both sides as equal when it's far from true.
>the act of sentencing entire humanity to starvation and death
It was actually a shit more stupid-convenient than that, since it was implied by pic related that the chrar pollution was reversed insanely quickly for sapping resources on a continental scale. The last 10 minutes of the show played out like a kid's cartoon.
I'm fine with smiles being protected and recovered, but they should have shown how it did actually take some years and some significant sacrifices, instead of being all quickly resolved within a few months.
But then again, we're soon Spring, and Spring is the season of hope and rebirth, so the planet is instantly reborn for Spring, and everything is good, I guess.
It's just too quickly.
I'm pissed because the story was garbage and the characters irrelevant (specially Stella). I don't mind a happy ending.
Shame this show was so mediocre. A girl this cute deserves better. Didn't even get a satisfying conclusion with her mother
At least loli hime finally changed out of that retarded outfit. Also, still with the stupid yuri baiting right until the very end eh Egao writers?
Yuuki's resolve was about how in the long term, her decision to shut down all chrars would turn out to be the best for the world, and that would be okay for the morale of the entire story, where people have to decide if they prefer short term or long term gains.
What the ending to Egao no Daika did really badly was however showing that in the immediate short terms, disabling all chrars was also fine and immediately paid off dividends.
"We are suddenly super close BFFs who act like we've known each other for years because...um...well...that's what was written in the script"
FFS, even the relationships in Cross Ange were better written than this.
A-Channel is actually better than the majority of the shit Kirara put out recently. Too bad I didn't appreciate it much when it was airing.
>Didn't even get a satisfying conclusion with her mother
Or penis. Those sexy genes die with her.
Dropped the show at episode 3 but ive looked at the threads so someone tell me if I got the plot right.
The empire kicks the kingdoms ass until episode 11 where the kingdom gets a magical button that will shut down all chars and heal the planet. Hime uses the button and the empire decides to just back off even though they could still easily crush the kingdom
Stella was brutally underutilized throughout. Honestly the worst of this show's idiotic missteps. Nearly ANYTHING can be made tolerable through the judicious application of cute girls especially when they love other cute girls, but they couldn't even do that.
Yes.
Her one weakness, building rubble. When it took her husband, it told her it would be back for her eventually. She didn't believe it, and now she's dead.
Stella on the other hand, or whatever her real name might be, is impervious to rubble.
Basically. The Kingdom had nothing left too and Hime was propaganda'd as a traitor and Harold a hero who'd want the people to surrender, it's hilarious. The Kingdom had like half a state left too from complete destruction
They muff dive each day now.
Also Harold is a bad guy for attacking retreating Empire soldiers when they massacred a state's worth of civilians in the previous episode.
It wasn't even that crazy as far as Yea Forums-speculation goes.
Her being creative in that simulation battle and making illegal moves in space-chess while saying "in war you don't always play by the rules" hinted pretty strongly towards that direction.
Stella got married to Yuki? How nice for her.
Those civilians were probably dumb armed partisans like the other dumbasses in episode 4.
Nigga do you even watch the show?
Nah they were evacuating the entire state under Hime's command.
So, what did you guys rank it? I've never given any series a 1, but Egao came close.
If you kill them they win
Overall, except for the ending, a rather solid 7.5 out of 10. The ending is a weak episode with too much of an enforce happy end that deviates too much from the somber and pseudo-realistic tone of other prior episodes, so I'd drop it down to a 5.5 out of 10.
>It was like watching a bad Bioware game ending.
At least it had a cute loli.
A 1 because it actively detracts from my enjoyment.
Pretty sure the armies who did that weren't used to fighting with big mechs just two weeks before.
Brainlet.
But Ebiten was great.
Now that I thnk about it, how many battles did the Kingdom actually win? Can't have been more than 3.
5/10. Except episode 1/2 I dont think I enjoyed a moment of this anime
>will cost the smile of millions
What are you talking about, the magical light made everything alright at no cost at all.
>irony
You clearly forgot Stella's squad taking out all those kingdom soldiers without their mechs. Even the manga has them fighting outside of mechs.
Empire soldiers are trained infantry as well, unlike the Kingdom VR vidyafags
7
I enjoy originals for what they are, not by what it could be if they added all the crazy theories and twists I can think of. And I liked Yuuki, Layla and her other companions. The issue was just pacing, having two protagonists when the second one basically contributed by not fucking up things at the end and the ending was too idealistic for the tone of the show.
How would you take Hime's smile?
>tbqh
Kill yourself.
Argevollen had a pretty disappointing ending also but the rest of it was pretty good indeed. Pretty sure there were afraid to really tie up any of the plot lines because they were hoping for a season 2, but that didn't pan out.
They also had no physical barriers (ever heard about doors?) preventing Stella from just running up to the command room to shoot people.
>Emperor was power mad
Dropped plot point
>Layla is Stella's mom
never brought up, dies without anyone realizing
>The consequences of disabling Chrars would be disastrous but Hime was ready to accept responsibility
nothing bad happens
You're pretty generous, at the risk of sounding like a prick, what series have you given a 10? I'm just curious, I'm not going to give you shit for your opinions.
The director knew people would hate it too. So if you hate it he wins
The only effect Stella had on the plot was getting her mom killed.
Won't be able to watch for a few hours, but can someone tell me two things?
1. Did the sexy Empire commander chick survive?
2. Is the loli princess still in power at the end?
Magical disney end with the push of a button
I wouldn't remember since I don't bother with tracking that. But it would include the usuals like tatami galaxy, original Kino no Tabi, Ping Pong Girls
Verde was a country of hippies, they probably don't believe in things like doors and locks.
Director interview.
billboard-japan.com
It seriously feels like Tatsunoko never evolved from the Speed Racer era of animation just from that clip alone.
We truly are "Egao no Daika", what a waste of time this was.
>Producers: hmm well according to him he set out to make it shit and he succeeded with his goal. I guess we can trust him with another anime
Yes two times.
The twins look dead inside. I think they realize how bullshit this all is.
>anime original
>meaning does not exist to increase sales of an already released manga/light novel/figurines
>no fanservice/fujobait or waifu harams
>mech battles arent won by mc power of friendship/believing in himself, they play out tactically with stupid decisions leading to disastrous results
>an actual fucking ending no room for sequals/movies
I think Yea Forums should just appreciate it what is was in a sea of shit
Gosh, if only this happened everything would have be fine.
Just because it was good on paper doesn't mean it was the least bit fun to watch. I'll take something with a lot of tropes that's executed well instead of a subversive borefest.
Joshua, Harold and others were practicing fighting with a spear and user didn't buy Yune's manga, but she probably fights too.
Real Egao no Daika was intolerance we made along the way
What a madman
If they had just shown Yuuki as an adult in the end, implying it took years for the ecosystem to bounce back, then this rushed happy ending would have at least felt a little better.
>and then everything magically worked out the end tehe
So in the end, the solution to the entire conflict was... to use fossile energy they had all along?
Getting mixed signals of the shows stance on environmentalism.
What was the point of showing this?
Using a little bit of fossil fuel is fine, as long as civilization doesn't exclusively use it. Most energy should come from renewables first, with fossil energy being stored as a hard reserve for when times are tough.
>loli hitler killed millions with a smile on her face
After it costed us everything watching this anime, are we free? Can we say we have our egao again?
>mech battles arent won by mc power of friendship/believing in himself, they play out tactically
Look, if you want something in the real robot genre, there are much better works for that than the garbage that is Egao no Daika. I'm not going to praise it just for being part of a certain category of mecha when its execution was piss poor.
The ending was so shit the Nip thread died long before maxing out and they have no new one. Was fun seeing them hate it too though
They can't have fossil fuel. It's a terraformed planet, and there was not enough time for fossils to turn into oil. Maybe it's fuel made from vegetable oil, or a blatant plot hole.
By the way, I want to peropero this.
No we paid the price to lose our egaos
Just joking, nobody really died, and the world was healed immediately, completely and perfectly a few months after.
She fortunately did the chrars disabling just a few months right before the beginning of spring, so it all turned out well for her.
What a smart little girl.
lmao I watched 3 episodes and waited to see if the ending was worth, you're all fucking stupid
Season 2 boi! Princess will spread Egao all over the galaxy
As stated before, a solid 7/10 for episodes 1 to 11, a solid niggerwutyoudoing/10 for last episode.
Eh, the ending was exactly as everyone expected it would develop, so we all knew what we were getting into. It's just that the ending ends a little bit too perfectly in favor of Yuuki, so the price of smiles was quite light, in the end.
>quite light
>every single of her relatives is dead
>every single of her adoptive relatives is dead
>probably unfavorable "peace" with empire niggers
She didn't deserve to die, not like this.
Empire niggers got away with everything and killings hundreds of thousands of innocents in their greed
That Engrish.
>Stella doesn't even realize she's her mom
This desu
Good feeling
She redeemed herself for giving up on her daughter.
>Mith Love, The Other Mon
???
Kind of rude really. Yuki never knew her biological mother so Layla would should be her only mother
Why do you type like an idiot?
I didn't like how they kind of glossed over Layla's death being revealed to Hime. Next to Joshua, Layla was the most important person to her since she was basically her mom. Maybe Hime was numb to it at this point and was trying to stay focused with Stella pointing a gun at her.
Should have shot the bitch right then and there.
Can't believe they let the royalist scum live.
WITH LOVE, THE OTHER MOM.
This show had 2 manga?
Yeah, it had a typical tie-in manga to give some minor additional details about the world of Egao no Daika.
So, why isn't episode 12 labeled as the Final anywhere? Is an error or...?
And instead we get this bullshit.
Episode 3 Stella would have shot her, name a worse character development.
What do you mean?
Where would it be labeled Final?
I am an idiot
They probably had to carry the princess on their backs as they were walking by foot to the orphanage in imperial territory.
Torrent files, MAL? Though I just checked other places and I guess they just forgot, nevermind my comment.
whats even worse is stella makes a good point that a sheltered hime with an army of servants has no idea what wiping out all energy to do to common people in cities and she had no comeback just "yea but i wanna do it anyway"
should of shot the bitch than and there
Stella was a entirely wasted character, jesus christ.
We knew everything that Yuki wanted, but Stella felt like she just went along with what happened.
One manga with several chapters each showing some side stories. user bought some chapters but there are more.
mega.nz
comic.k-manga.jp
Horriblesubs never label the final episode to my knowledge, Erai-Raws sometimes label them "END" but they are inconsistent about it.
I don't think MAL makes any label on any last episode but they should put the date it stopped airing.
>Stella felt like she just went along with what happened
I think that was partially the point of her character. She didn't have a home or place she belonged to, so she just kind of listlessly goes through life until she realizes her squad is what's important to her. Still doesn't change that her character is completely pointless though.
5/10. It was meh like water.
It was the beginning of December.
>should of shot the bitch than and there
It bothers me that you used the same expression as me but butchered the grammar.
I think the show was originally just about Yuki and Stella was something they added in the last script revision or something. It just felt that they really didn't know what to do with her.
but if she thought of her mates as what's important to her then she had no reason to not shot Yuki there, that's where even that reasoning fails.
It was probably the wish of some producers demanding that this original anime feature two cute girls as main characters because that probably sells, and the staff complied by subverting the wish of the producers, honoring the word of the contract, if not the spirit.
>Yep, I guess she has a point, better disobey the order and help her now
Not that the ending is any good, but I think that Stella does realize that as long as they'll keep having wars and uprisings, Stella and her squad will never have peace and freedom.
It's still however quite implausible for Stella to trust Yuuki, just because she says that chrars are bad, but not really explaining how and why they're superbad for the environment how they're the cause for the war in the world.
Oh well, the staff wanted to finish the anime and be done with it, so here's a happy ending, minna-san. Now let's go eat and drink at this party.
Her friends would probably be killed by the twins, they were the most elite soldiers with the most elite chrars in the world. The only alternate solution would have be to take the princess hostage to make them stop.
Yuuki doesn't even say that chrars are bad for the environment. She never used that as her reason. She just says she wants to stop all wars over the chrars and wants to believe that wars over something else supposedly won't happen because people are good. It totally makes sense.
Yukihime went crazy.
Meh, Yuni already failed once against Stella, Lily and Huey, so of course she'll fail again against Stella, Lily and Huey. And this time, there's no more mook mechas to distract the team, nor any trees for Yuni to hide behind.
As for Rene, he actually was never really shown to be that much of a relevant factor in combat.
Joshua and Leila were the only likeable characters???
Owens and Leyla were.
>this nigger again
She BTFO Stella's mech and cut an arm from another mech. They would have been fucked. More like there's no plot armor Owens to use his super ram move.
Rene was shown surviving an attack of 5 niggers at once just this episode.
Pretty much. Episode was good and this show would have been good if the continued in the same direction.
I agree with you, although I thought the the Empire's mechs look decent.
>layla didn't even articulate a simple "I'm your mother" to stella before she bought it
>even though stella asked why she saved her
>i can't agree with what you're saying
>but deep down i kind of agreed all along
>okay i'll betray my country and help you shut it all down
What the fuck is this ending
>Joshua
>likeable
this show's only saving grace was killing him off.
I'm glad this is over, not because I didn't like it, but because there won't be any more of these threads where the usual retards whine about this not being the show they wanted and continuing to completely miss the point of it despite being told COUNTLESS FUCKING TIMES what it's actually about
Quality control in the final episode was disappointingly low. After the chrardisabling rainbow wave washed over the entire world, Guy and Break were shown near two Soleil Scout Theurgears, instead of Imperial Krahe machines.
Thatās the price of our smiles
>most of the empire scums survived
It's ok, they live meaningless lives while Yuuki saved the world.
>Egao no Daika
I think I actually watched the first two episodes. So what happend, did it turn into complete crap?
yeah i noticed that too
The whole show is basically episodes 2 and 3 repeated over and over with minor variations, then there's a deus ex machina happy ending.
Aye, and not the enjoyable sort either
literally nothing interesting happened until Yuki presses a button and everyone is happy.
It was actually Lily who used a super ram move against Yuni. Owens uses super sneak attack moves to easily thwart and defeat Harold from his blind spots.
The Kingdom's soldiers turned out to be utterly incompetent. Heck, that one blonde guard outside the tower couldn't even hit Stella while she crawled outside her mecha.
Dear diary,
The chest was flat.
So how did this train wreck turn out?
Such deep characters, such deep character development! I'm so happy they found a meaning to their life.
Either way, Yuni was against 2 and Rene had the other 2. Niggers can't win unless they outnumber them at least 6 to 1, preferably 20 to 1.
He was probably a technician or whatever, not a grunt. They brought lots of them to work in the facility.
Being a beat cop beating up protesters is a good job.
It didn't go off the rails, that would have been too entertaining and we can't have that.
>kingdom soldiers use spears instead of real guns
No wonder they kept losing.
>implying they weren't preparing for Yuuki-sama's grand plan to turn all high tech weapons into a rubbish all along
That's obviously how they managed to reconquer the lost territory and got the favorable peace terms from the Emperor. I'm sure they'll elaborate on that in S2.
You might be onto something. Soleil are utterly crap with pistols, which is why they're so easily defeated by Verdean terrorists and Grandigan soldiers.
Perhaps if the Soleil soldiers had their trusty training spears with them during the Leash incident, the king and queen might still have been alive.
im glad this will be the last thread for this shitty show
Good lord, she's still this freaking naive even in the last episode. Which makes the happy ending she got even more annoying.
At this moment the people realized that letting a sheltered pampered 12 year old girl wield actual power was a mistake.
>How did they get down from that 1000+ foot tower?
What, do you not think they thought of that when they built the machine to destroy the energy it uses?
I was worried all those empire niggers would get locked in into their mechas, with absolutely no way to escape.
It was probably one of the ships they used to get there from Earth that they just left in orbit
In the show itself, turns out that this sheltered pampered 12 year old girl was right about everything all along, whereas gruff old guys like Harold were wrong about everything from the beginning, and incompetent to boot. He wasn't even being shown to be at least right about the nature of mankind fighting for resources.
Nope, turns out that Yuuki's positivist perception of humanity being inherently good was also true.
Of course, we all know that this ultimate happy end only is written like that because the anime won't get any continuation, so they can now give her a perfect happy end, because why not?
More like everyone else, friends and enemies alone, was written full blown retarded to somehow make Yuuki stand out and look competent despite being a naive bumbling retard herself.
I feel like the Empire episodes were meant to make us sympathize with Yuuki's ideals about not hurting anyone on either side and her struggle to maintain them in the face of the fuckers killing all her loved ones, but the fact that their suffering was so much less than hers just made it frustrating when she would bend over backwards to protect those assholes. It just feels disingenuous to hear them talking about how terrible war is when one of them has only ever watched things on a monitor and the other only lost one old guy on the battlefield. That's not the kind of hell that leads you to uproot a civilization.
WORST ANIME OF THE YEAR
>help, I'm trapped inside
>don't worry, we'll get you out
>somebody get the power too-
>oh shit
Imagine Yuuki's face when she finds out that she locked thousands of people in giant metal coffins and they're slowly dying of dehydration right now.
The only characters in the entire show behaving like assholes were Huey and Harold, though. Man, everything that is bad and about Soleil can be attributed to Harold, who was stupid, dumb, wrong, incompetent, a warmonger, a backstabber, was suicidal and a grumpy curmudgeon, whose sole existence seems to make the loli princess cry nonstop.
At least Huey can cook a decent meal and gifts money to orphans.
That's not bermuda.
Nobody cares, dude. Just admit that you're gay and tsundere for Harold already.
Bermuda is actually surprisingly enjoyable. Most retards can't see past the QUALITY, which the show even makes fun of.
I prefer ojiisans like Owens, though.
They're the only ones who weren't allowed to die glorious deaths for the country. The shame is more than they can bear.
That's not Kotobuki.

wrong
I was just kidding, it's just unknown by most people. I don't really watch advertisements for card games but this just has the right amount of cuteness and yuribait to draw my attention.
I dropped this show on episode 3 with the intention of binge watching the whole thing later.
Don't think I plan to do that anymore.
Though, I do think Stella and Yuki have cute character designs. It's a shame they were wasted on such an awful show.
They all died of starvation after the chars got disabled, user.
You just have to believe.
Sounds like this was quite the disaster.
The magic chrars-stopping machine stopped all the chrars. What's stopping the emperor from burning that place to the ground and building new ones with all haste?
Chrars are minerals only found on this planet. He can't exactly build more of them.
IF WE remove all the Empire episode, the history still make sense!
All chrars lost the special vibration that made them be able to draw energy from the nanos. So chrars are now worthless.
I wasted my time again in this shit.
Their economy is going to be super fucked when they run out of military hardware to scrap since the only things anyone was trained to do was build war machines and shoot people.
It's not that the episode is a disaster. It's just that it's not really good at all for what is supposed to be the final episode of the entire show, and the ending is disjointed from the normal melodrama and sad sacrifices that this show usually employs.
The people can be retrained to go work as farmhands, now that all all crops are blessed by the nanos.
I meant the series as a whole, not just the last episode.
Truly the Comet Lucifer of 2019
It was decent and I'm happy Yuki got a happy ending, but I am still fucking furious that these fucking empire scumbags got off with barely a scratch. Yuki ends up losing almost everyone close to her and Empirefags just spend the entire fucking anime playing high school and acts like a single one of their high ranked casualties is worth all the goddamn civilians they've mowed down.
so 6/10, had some neat moments especially with surprisingly killing off the annoying love interest in ep 2, and Yuki is pure and cute as fuck, but overall the show does not at all deliver on the karmic retribution it should and it seems to have intended to both sides to be seen as sympathetic when really only one of them weren't complete and utter scumbags that needed to die by the tons
Bermuda is just Endro with worse animation. Not bad, just mind numbingly boring with no substance. V-tuber and Dimension high school are objectively the worst. The KF cash-ins are pretty far down there too.
This is definitely the most disappointing anime this season, but that's only because it actually had expectations of it. I guess Kotobuki did too, but it at least met the bare minimum requirement of planes doing tricks so people give it a pass.
Emperor should have made Yuuki his wife.
If the ending was decently presented it would have made the whole series retroactively worth it. Even with all its flaws it could have been a set up for a nice payoff. Instead we got dropped and hand waved plot points and a useless "second heroine".
i do wish this show was "better" than what it was, but i do agree with you
yuki suffered so much and those fucking empire shits basically got off scott free
i guess were never getting a comfy season 2 to showcase hime and stellas cute farming SoL shenanigans
>Yuki ends up losing almost everyone close to her
Doesn't matter, she got a cute girlfriend.
Why does everyone hate the empire? Did you want them to sit around and watch their population starve to death?
I do now
Layla's death was rushed and meaningless but I liked all the parts after that. I didn't expect much from this series but it was fun anyway.
Though I wouldn't want an S2 unless it has a decent budget, which is impossible.
Ironic kingdomniggers hate the Empire for not being a typical evil empire full of bloodthirsty haughty scumbags behaving like fantasy orcs. If they're not behaving like the ultimate spawns of evil driven by an obviously evil badwrongnofun ideology, that means that Yuuki, the main protagonist, never gets to justifiably commit reverse atrocities and ultimate Warhammer 40k style blood and iron defense strategies to avenge her people.
Emperor is evil tho.
Considered every fucking person who died in thise show died shot to death, it would have made lot more sense to get rid of all the guns in the world. Because honestly, robots only served to reduce the body count since limited robots meant limited soldiers.
If not for the chars massives quantities of people would have died in a war with large armies of human soldiers rather than small armies of robots.
I give this world a couple of years at most before raiders with mohwaks, destroy the orphanage and rape and killd everyone in there and/or some sort of Hitler raises and starts some sort of genocide.
At least Yuni survived. I'll take that.
>Yuuki doesn't even say that chrars are bad for the environment. She never used that as her reason.
If she had just said that it would've been nice. Stella's response and desire to help would make more sense. It would have helped for Leyla to say the same thing as she was dying.
>7/10 anime
I don't know, if I value it as what it was I'd say is a 5/10. Its watchable, has a beginning and and end so it deserves a grading pass.
If I rate it based on the expectations from the first episodes I'd say its a 3/10 or so since they basically picked the most boring rute possible.
>Yuni survived
>setting life goes on
Well, at least I fantasize about being part of some sort of militia and raping her.
Careful or Lily will nanodesu you.
Man that felt rushed and just ended abruptly. It had potential but im not mad that i watched this. So that's something
Man this show was just not organized with its ideas at all. They had all the good ingredients for a compelling sci-fi story but it was just so badly executed. You can't really do the whole "war is bad and pointless" thing without diving into politics, examining why the war is happening, why it's continuing despite causing such widespread misery, and then showing how your protagonists interface with that political structure to either contribute to or challenge it. Fuck, even Code Geass did this better than Egao no Daika and that's fucking sad.
And this is to say nothing of how scatterbrained and ham-handed it was with its environmentalism. I'm almost 100% sure the "secret" of the chrars was some writer's brain child from the outset, but the way it's thrown in makes it seem almost as an afterthought until you realize getting rid of the chrars fixes both the war and environment problems at the same time, then it just becomes super contrived, at least the way they wrote it.
>for not being a typical evil empire full of bloodthirsty haughty scumbags behaving like fantasy orcs
That's literally what they are.
This show truly fantastic. It had everything I've ever wanted in a mecha anime.
-A peace princess
-Who is also an always right tactical genius at 10 years old
-CGI mechs
-Characters flip-flopping between shooting to kill without warning then not shooting at all for no reason whatsoever
-Buildings collapsing so the writer doesn't have to come up with a potentially interesting scene
-A magic make all problems go away button even though said button should turn the world upside down
Truly fantastic. I cannot stop smiling.
Egao no Daika? I think you mean ē¬å£° no Daika, hahaha.
Solutions to your people starving that do not involve killing tens of thousands and displacing millions with war (in order of most to least proactive):
1. invest resources into food production instead of the military
2. negotiate trade deals for food with foreign countries
3. encourage your people to migrate to places that have abundant food
4. beg for international aid
Know what is not even on the list as a means of preserving your people's lives? Making them fight a war. The great irony there is all the thousands of cripples the war created are now more useless mouths the empire has to feed, unable to even be used as cannon fodder, let alone labor for productive purpose.
Is this what /m/ is like? It explains why they like absolute garbage like most Gundumbs.
I think your sarcasm detector is broken
Name a more pointless fucking death. Also
>kind eyes
She literally smiled at a kid telling her her parents were dead.
Hands down the worst anime I've completed in this decade. Most bad anime have a "it's so bad it's good" factor, this one is completely garbage.
It sure is. You should read the /m/ thread right now.
You're lucky you never watched Mayoiga or Glasslip. Those still rank worse than this one, but it's going to be joining their illustrious company on the short list of worst anime I've bothered to finish at least one season of.
Meh, it's still better than Comet Lucifer.
So how many cute anime girls gone crazy in this anime? It's a very crucial piece of information for me.
zero
0
Mayoiga had the it's so bad it's good" factor, I dropped Glasslip in like the 3rd episode.
Nah, Comit Lucifer was better.
I can't believe they blueballed us on Stella finding out Layla was her mother. What was even the point of that if it amounted to nothing?
>Mayoiga had the it's so bad it's good" factor,
It really didn't. The only fun thing about it was the threads on Yea Forums while it was airing, which was the same for Glasslip. The show itself was a steaming pile.
Shame. Looks like I won't watch it afterall.
>1. invest resources into food production instead of the military
They did invest in chrars to help power up all the machines for food production. Turns out that chrars however are responsible for the world's global ecological disaster. Since the food situation gets worse and worse, unrest happens, which forces the dictatorship to invest in even more military to suppress the rebellions.
>2. negotiate trade deals for food with foreign countries
The only nation still existing refuses to interact with them because of some bad history between each another.
>3. encourage your people to migrate to places that have abundant food
At the point when the story started, that would most likely be the southern nation of Soleil.
>4. beg for international aid
There's only two nations left in the entire world.
As a short term solution, the invasion of Soleil made sense. The problem is of course that those are short term solutions.
>I dropped Glasslip in like the 3rd episode.
You dodged a bullet. All I got out of it was this image.
>1
They have already maxed out their food production with the technology they have. The new energy sources would only destroy what they have even faster even if they could get them without going to war and the emperor knows that.
>2
Just put yourself politically at the mercy of another nation. Absolutely no problem with that.
>3
There isn't anywhere else to go besides the kingdom and we don't know what their immigration policies are. It's safe to assume they don't want to start taking in mass waves of dumb empire niggers.
>4
This isn't earth, the entire world isn't populated.
War was objectively the best option.
Yuuki was afraid that she'd be hated. Nope, everything's cool. If we hadn't got the "everything's okay after chrars shutdown" ending, we could have had Evil Yuuki-hime, main character of fairytales used to scare bad children:
>You better behave or Yuuki will come and break all your toys!
Then there could be a festival each year where someone would dress up as evil Yuuki-hime and go house to house. They'd drive her off by throwing sunflower seeds at her, and the little kids would get rewarded with a whole apple.
I kind of want to watch Glasslip to see what all the hate is about. How bad of a shitshow is it?
Fucking this. It was just "I don't want people to die!" talk rather than telling Stella that Grandiga has been keeping secrets about chrars and its environmental damage because they want to win the war despite making their people die of hunger while blaming it on Soliel. Wtf. Whoever wrote this script needs to be shot.
Soliel runs on a chivalry system, which the Empire is well aware of. They 100% would not refuse a cry for help and aid to feed a starving people, that is not in the character of any person we saw in Soliel's command structure. And really, what would the Empire have to lose by trying?
>Just put yourself politically at the mercy of another nation
Well, yeah, no shit. That's highly preferable to having your people starve to death or starting a war that ends up killing your people anyway, and lots of foreign people too for good measure, while also wasting resources and destroying infrastructure that could've been used to feed and otherwise support your people and the people of soliel.
There's basically no outcome of war that makes any sense or yields less dead people than simply asking Soliel to help and abdicating power.
That's generous to Comet Lucifer
It's just a really, really dull show that makes you think something is going to happen but nothing ever really happens. The summary I came up with for it years back is "a show about nothing happening in the summer where the main girl has visions of an alternate dimension where nothing happens in the winter"
Literally all the Sunrise cliches everyone hates in one show
>bunch of rethorical shit that wouldn't really save anything
You would be a good politic. Telling people "we just need to work hard on those fields" despite the fields being completely dry
I forgot this show existed until I came across this thread
If the first option doesn't work you go to the next one. Know what doesn't actually help people? War. If your premise is starvation = bad, because it causes death and lower quality of life, how is war a solution to that problem? Last time I checked war also causes death and lower quality of life, but for even more people than starvation does, and much faster. So if your goal is merely to spread the misery around to everybody, then good job?
Man that really sucked. Why did I watch this again?
>That's highly preferable to having your people starve to death or starting a war that ends up killing your people anyway
Not for the Emperor it isn't. You are also forgetting that that the Kingdom is already having trouble feeding their own people, even if it isn't as bad. They have no reason to help and would probably prefer to watch the Empire die off slowly anyways.
It's as if they saw one of our threads where we post elements our ideal show would have, then did the opposite.
Lucky you. Glasslip is literally a waste of time. I want my time back, Damn it!
I think you have the wrong idea. Glasslip is bad because it's a series of anticlimaxes, it's blueballs: the anime. Pointless love triangles and teen drama that get resolved before they even become interesting. Weird shit happens, but it doesn't matter cause there's no consequences or real events that kick off because of it. It could've been a comfy slice of life if they hadn't added all the pointless anticlimactic drama, it also looked pretty great too, but on the whole it was just a huge waste of time.
So now the war is to satisfy the ego of the emperor? Makes sense.
I'm all for job security and stable incomes, but at some point certain directors and writers need to be shown the door. There's gotta be someone better who deserves a chance.
Wash the taste of this shit out of your mouth with 2019's best mecha anime
revisions
nyaa.si
It did though, the characters were absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention the goofy CGI monster and the retarded plot, I had a great laugh watching it.
>The only fun thing about it was the threads on Yea Forums while it was airing
That's because it was so bad it's good, a complete trainwreck. This show couldn't even do that so the threads were just as boring.
I applaud this plan.
The only really good part about it was the wild speculation in the threads. People kept predicting shit and coming up with theories and then nothing happened. It was the same with Glasslip. People kept expecting something to happen, kept predicting a twist or escalation of drama, only for it to fizzle and soon everybody was as apathetic as the characters.
Buddy complex was great and fun. It had a lot of sweet mecha combat and actually a decent plot. I miss "connect with dio" and you guys need better taste.
War is the only way to get the farmlands and the superchrar technology that some believe can end the food crisis (turns out that it's one of the stressors causing the degradation).
Soleil definitely won't trade that technology away, and neither will they sell any farmland to the Empire that they already distrust.
>The great irony there is all the thousands of cripples the war created are now more useless mouths the empire has to feed
That reminds me.
They never told us who attacked the cripple convoy that had one of the Buerger-guys on it.
It wasn't so bad it's good. It was a goofy comedy-horror.
Why did I never hear about this
The MC made me want to rip my eyeballs out of their sockets.
Yeah I understand that's the rationale, I'm just saying that, in reality, the war actually killed more people than hypothetical starvation did, and caused untold damage to Soliel's infrastructure that was producing food. Hell, they fucking blew up one of the labs that was growing the hyper lettuce, how is that helping feed their people?
You're not thinking about this from an actual solution perspective, you're assuming war is necessary and then justifying it post-hoc, but it's pretty evident the war didn't actually solve any of the Empire's problems nor could it ever have done so.
Because shows not released by HorribleSubs never get any attention on Yea Forums these days probably
>Who is also an always right tactical genius
That must be why she lost battle after battler and city after city.
You are trying too hard.
The episodes came out in one bulk so all discussions lived and died the very same week.
Man, so many good ideas and characters, but an horrible execution, an horrible direction, an horrible quality overall, this kind of things make me sad. When the roof fell on Layla I thought "this is it, the moment we all been waiting for, this will make the rollercoaster of emotions to collapse, this is the climax"... and we got a very weak implication with no consequence other than "bruh, this hoe just saved me so I should betray all my friends right?", as someone that had this in his top 5 next to Mob Psycho I'm very disappointed, time to shift+supr.
In the first episode it was teased that she was actually a great strategic thinker with "unconventional" ideas, and they also sort of seemed to go in that direction in the middle of the series when she assumed command of the army, but they never did anything with it.
Admit it guys, it all went to shit the moment Joshua died.
Yuki's strategy was working at first, but the enemy adapted and countered it. And after that the show just sort of dropped the whole "yuki as a general" idea and focused on other things.
Have to agree with you there.
Egao at least managed to not get dropped half way through.
Fuck off 3DPD.
What ever happened to her?
She got married to me.
Well, being the dictator of a really large nation, how would you solve the food riots when your farmlands keep dying off? Keep in mind that you'd be skeptical of any claims about chrars being responsible for worsening the crops.
At least something good came from this crap, congratulations!
Well, it was good enough to string you along for 12 episodes, so it can't be all bad.
It would have been alright if the writer had a bit more guts and will.
yeah, she deserve to suffer
>All CGI
I dropped it instantly. That shit is unwatchable.
It feels great to watch a genuinely terrible and disappointing show every so often, it really gives you a lot of experience and makes you properly enjoy anime as a whole much better. I hated pretty much everything about this show but I don't regret watching it one bit.
In any case, it's nice how Yuki continued being a nude back slut after everything and she even flashed her DFC to her new friend.
Did we ever find out who destroyed that wounded transport? Unless I'm remembering wrong the Kingdom seems unlikely because the transports were well away from the front.
That one disappointing anime with the loli princess who wears sexy clothes. Everything else about it is better left forgotten.
It's about a 4/10 for me. I honestly think the show started off very well and introduced a lot of interesting ideas. However, the writers did absolutely nothing with them and then later starting writing retarded shit and asspulls.
Nothing. She didn't die, didn't lose any immediate subordinates, was never in danger. She got away with ethnic cleansing and nobody ever said a word about it.
Ah, clean burning coal, so much better for the environment. I hope this important environmental message gets through to people.
That's future-coal you idiot, it has been modified to purify the environment when burned.
Just another dropped plot point among several.
It's probably just wood.
>this message brought to you by Barret Industries and the town of Corel.
Wood stoves are not really any better than coal ones, in terms of carbon put in the atmosphere.
It creates nanos. Nanos are good, therefore, more chrarscoal needs to be burned to free the nanos.
This.
Loli-hitler threads were the most fun Iāve had on Yea Forums for a few seasons now.
It won't, I will only remember the cute and funny princess I guess.
>this is the average iq of yuri posters
>he can't understand joke
Actually wood stoves produce far less carbon than coal, but the smoke they generate causes extremely bad air quality which leads to health issues anywhere there's a lot of wood burning. Not that there's no bad side effects on the environment, it'll cause smog, acid rain, etc, just not as fast or as bad as coal will.
I'm glad I was with you guys for this ride. I might even start watching Glasslip for more shit anime for me to watch. But seriously, what would you guys pick:
>Keep chrars active and let the war continue
or
>Turn the entire planet into Germany after WW1
2.5/10
I might have been a bit more generous if I had set my expectations lower, but I didnāt enjoy a single episode past 4 and the Harond rip and tear scenes.
I would decide what kind of fucking story I wanted to tell and then tell it competently instead of trying to tell 3 different stories at once in only 12 episodes.
they literally forgot about her didn't they?
good thing i can finally forget about this attrocity
She was in the background of treaty signing between Yuuki and the Emperor. I guess they didn't think she was important enough to give a follow up.
Now I know what it felt like to be Chinese during Nanking.
Yuuki tells Stella she's going to shut down all the chrars because she needs to save the environment. Stella helps her just like in the series, flashing beams, lights, etc.
>jk I just shut down the Imperial chrars
>shoots Stella with hidden pistol
Maniacal grin, then fade to black.
>The price of smiles
This would make watching this crap all worth it.
i rather have yuuki pull out a knife and stab that bitch
and laugh like a maniac after she's done
I wanted to see mass starvation after losing chars.
they forgot about a lot of things
>yuki is an unwilling but brilliant military commander a la Yang Wen Li just starting to show promise
>forgotten after the chrars reveal
>Stella is Layla's daughter that she thought was dead, these two people have agonized over the absence of their child/parents for the whole show and now finally get to meet
>nothing comes of it, Layla dies for pretty much no reason seconds after meeting Stella
>there's some kind of conspiracy within Soliel by the vassals within the Order
>never mentioned again
>There's some kind of political instability within the Empire driving the Emperor to this extreme action of invading Soliel
>only ever alluded to, never explained
>There was this ancient Principality/Empire called Verde that was super important to the Chrars technology
>never explained how they vanished
>Somebody blew up the transport with all the wounded on it
>never find out who did it
and it just goes on and on
Would it have been better if it was just a simulation?
This or Stella shooting Hime resulting in the planet eventually dying
She had more scenes than the Emperor did, and was built up as the face of the Imperial invasion. Kind of a let down nothing happens with her.
Then we can get a banal final episode where the empire squadies all reminisce about that time Stella shot a 12 year old princess and then they can have a nabe party or whatever. Fuck this show.
>were going to pick it up around ep4
>forgot to
>wanted to pick it up around ep8
>forgot again
>now it's over and everyone is complaining
Man I don't feel like watching it now but I also don't feel like just forgetting about it
You're better off forgetting about it.
Don't do it.
It's the kind of show that you'll only get enjoyment out of by watching with Yea Forums. Early threads were pretty fun and had nice speculations and conspiracies. Rest were just anons raging together.
I feel like I wasted my time on this show. All I got out of it is the ability to tell people "I've seen worse anime than whatever you're complaining about right now"
At this point, just fap to Yuki's back and leave things at that.
its not worth it
its really bad
This is one of those shows where if you don't watch it with anons every week there's zero point to it. It's just dull and badly executed, not fun to watch. I only ever looked forward to the threads.
I liked it. There are plenty of worse shows this season.
I wish Nyankofag was the lead writer of the show.
The threads weren't even that fun.
>first couple of episodes set up Yuuki as some sort of tactical genius
>The rest of the show has her do more harm than good because she keeps trying to force her 'no killing' ideals down everyone's throat
>Egao no Daika's setting, characters, and thematic elements are all strikingly similar to Xenoblade Chronicles X.
>I'll continue to defend Xenoblade Chronicles X from the haters that misunderstand it and didn't even play it, and I'll continue to advocate for Egao no Daika as one of the most underrated shows of the Winter 2019 anime season.
>Anything is possible with passion and will!
I liked posting about hyper lettuce.
>P.S. If you've played Xenoblade Chronicles X, Egao no Daika's setting, characters, and thematic elements are all strikingly similar. Xenoblade Chronicles X is by the far the most slept on Xenoblade Chronicles game that falls under the radar of most of the Xenoblade community. Xenoblade Chronicles X is also my favorite Xenoblade, nay, favorite game of all time. Seeing the parallels between Egao no Daika and Xenoblade Chronicles X (both in their thematic elements and how they're getting largely ignored by their respective communities) is what gave birth to this particular review. I continue to defend Xenoblade Chronicles X from the haters that misunderstand it and didn't even play it, and I'll continue to advocate for Egao no Daika as one of the most underrated shows of the Winter 2019 anime season. Anything is possible with passion and will!
Is that you?
I should've know this post would be retarded from the image and the greentext yet I read it anyway
cute bag
Lily is pretty cute. She should have been gang raped by Kingdom soldiers.
From your point of view.
Would have been more memorable, thatās for sure
>Implying Empire niggers would ever sign an armistice
Joshua died without tasting her pussy man, that's sad. He was on his way to get in a 3P with Hime and the female twin.
I was forgetting about it after finishing each individual episode.
The real loser here for not getting a taste of that dfc and c*nny
Can I at least hope for some whoring out of the princess in merch to try and make a buck?
Why did I waste an entire season watching this? No one learned anything in the end. Stella met her mother and didn't even care. Why was this made?
Please don't make another thread for this. Let's just commence the memory dump already.
This season was trash so there wasn't much else to watch.
This season was great with this being easily the worst show
I won't call this season trash, but it was fairly weak.
>mob psycho s2
>dororo
>doukyonin
>kotobuki
>tate no yusha
>yakusoku neverland
>boogiepop
>kaguya-sama
I dunno man, sounds more like you just don't have good taste if nothing out of that list sounds good to you. I'm watching even more than that, those are just the shows I can call good without any hesitation or caveats.
That would have been great. And realistic. Why DID the mechs just open?
>doukyonin
>tate no yusha
>yakusoku neverland
>boogiepop
I can see you are a fan of shit and uninspired adaptation.
Oh you're one of those unpleasable "muh source material" faggots, never mind then. Nothing is ever good enough to appease you.
Holy fucking shit, the guy you are replying to is a retard but you are miles worse, half of what you named is beyond shit, and you are the one telling others to not have taste, get a fucking taste yourself.
I haven't actually read any of the source material for them except for Doukyonin, I have just watched enough anime to spot a bad adapation when I see one.
The important thing is you found a way to be superior to both of us without having to supply any examples of your own favorite shows from this season.
Not him but why are those beyond shit? Because you're an intelligent adult who has grown beyond the genres some of those shows are in?
Wow so you're actually just a super pretentious cunt? How did you think that would improve my opinion of you? You're on a whole other level of being a shithead.
Sometimes shows are just bad, regardless of genre.
What makes them bad?
>no babies
Pretentious how? For having an opinion about bad adaptations?
You're still not explaining how they're bad. Or what you liked instead of those that are so much better.
I wasn't the guy you responded to, just thought your response was asinine since he didn't mention anything about genres in his post.
Calling something a bad adaptation when you haven't even read the source material is the definition of pretentious. You haven't read the source material so you can't actually verify that it's any good, much less have a real, personal opinion about it, you're just pretending that you have one so you can shit on something widely liked.
You're basically on the same level as people who only watch what youtube e-celeb cocksuckers watch.
They protected our Egaos, arigato, Daikas
>yakusoku neverland
>boogiepop
Horrible adaptation nobody likes.
>kotobuki
>tate no yusha
I don't need to explain anything here, and if you need an explanation then you are cancer and doesn't deserve one.
>kaguya-sama
This is average at best but since I'm just talking about beyond shit shows I'll give it pass.
>doukyonin
Not watching.
>mob psycho s2
>dororo
You got 2 good shows in your stupid list, now fuck off.
Not mine.
Only a couple of retards thought this would be yuri based on promotional picture where they aren't even kissing or blushing at each other. If this had yuripandering scenes that went nowhere it would be a yuribait show, but thank god we we were free from that and all kind of yuri-related shitposting.
>This season was trash
People say that every single season. It's probably the same people each time.
I can call it a bad adaptation, whether the source material is any good or not is irrelevant, simply because I have watched enough anime to know when an adaptations does nothing with the source material. Notice how I didn't pick out Mob, Kaguya, or Dororo from your list despite them also being adaptations, because you can see and feel that they actually try from their
general pacing and visual language.
The ones I picked out from your list all feel the same because they are all uninspired adaptation, except Boogiepop which has a separate issue.. Which is why Doukyonin, which I have read, have the same feel as the rest of them.
So you're incapable of explaining why a show is bad, got it.
Your Egao isn't worth protecting
>Horrible adaptation nobody likes.
Plenty of people like both though. Neverland in particular is a pretty fantastic anime in its own right. Also since the other guy admitted he calls things "bad adaptations" despite not actually knowing the source material I'm just gonna start discarding opinions of people who say this out of hand since it's pretty apparently a favorite smoke screen faux-criticism favored by dickheads with non-opinions.
>I don't need to explain anything here, and if you need an explanation then you are cancer and doesn't deserve one.
How fortunate you don't have to explain yourself, certainly contributes to my assumption you're just full of shit and an empty-headed contrarian.
>This is average at best
Compared to what? It's got nice production values, excellent comedic timing, fantastic voice acting, and is a pretty nice feel good show with no obvious bad spots. What exactly is the barometer for "average" for this kind of show?
Sounds like you're just a typical contrarian on Yea Forums who talks a big game but can't actually back up his opinions with anything but "my taste > your taste" and hopes the other person will just accept it.
You're a pretty dumb person aren't you?
>I can call it a bad adaptation, whether the source material is any good or not is irrelevant
I'm not even gonna read the rest of the post because I doubt you could top the idiocy of this first sentence. You see no issues with being a complete phony who holds opinions about things he knows nothing about but claims to have better taste? Okay, your opinions aren't worth the time you took to type them, and certainly not worth the time I took to respond to them. I'm done wasting my precious minutes of life interacting with such a contemptible cretin like you.
Neverland is the comedy of the season and you can literally compare it scene by scene with the manga to know they are doing a very bad job.
>smoke screen faux-criticism favored by dickheads with non-opinions.
This is how you spot this people by the way.
>Compared to what?
To anything actually funny, like Neverland.
Just dont reply
It's certainly bad because he dislikes it.
"Taste"fags operate on another level of stupidity and pretentiousness. It's better to avoid engaging with them.
Do you honestly think that if a source material is bad, then the adaptation will automatically also be a bad one and vice versa?
Or that a adaptation can only be bad if it is actively worse than the source material?
Why would the quality of the source actually matter? When the adaptation doesn't take advantage of the medium it is adapting to it is automatically a bad one. The most obvious and common thing for anime adaptations to do is to simply copy manga panels 1 for 1 and it always feels from the pacing of the show, because the director has absolutely no idea how to make a manga scene feel natural in animation.
Just hopping into this conversation to clarify that Neverland isn't shit because it's a bad adaptation - it's shit because it's an adaptation of a shit manga.
Kinda fitting that in the last thread this show will ever get people do anything but talk about it.
>literally my taste > your taste posting
>you all are so dumb
This surely was the price of my smile.
This anime is 100% illogical
Why the fuck would the empire even sign an armistice? Think it about it for a sec, they have number of superiority, even without chrars their ground forces will still wipeout the entirety of soleil.
Fucking dumb ending
Except you know, the other 500 posts talking about the show, but yeah, after a thread gets to 500 replies "those" people come and start shitposting, is just how it works here.
That's not very nice.
Their soldiers are probably not properly trained for ground combat.
Also the reason to go to war disappears with the dis-functioning of the chrars anyway.
I would still give it a shot. I hate CGI to death, but the gems anime was really good.
Perhaps they agreed because the crops begun to grow again, and the evil powersource is gone.
I can't. Every time the characters start to walk, I want to throw up because it looks so shitty and unnatural.
I need to post in this thread before it dies just to voice my opinion at how amazingly bad this was. I even feel that sometimes it actually would hit some sort of emotional beat, but that beat belongs in some other show because 90% of the entire thing was either inane dialogue spoonfeeding the most facile anti-war message conceived or horribly choreographed nonsense cg robots kinda shooting in the general direction of each other before blowing up.
Why even have giant robots? The tactics just amount to line everyone up on an open field and just shoot until one side dies. Every part of this was so ill-conceived.
And those smiles at the end. It felt like the show was trying to insult me.
>20 year timeskip
>Soleil discovers vast oil reserves in an uncivilised corner of the empire
This is the thing, they never explain why the big bad emperor declared war on soleil in the first place? For food? They have the research data on Verde so they know about the chrars side effects on crops? If they know about this then why they still wanna fight a war using chrars?
They wanted the new chrars, but those are worthless now, so they have nothing left to fight for
>And those smiles at the end. It felt like the show was trying to insult me.
That was the price of them.
>oil on Mars
The show wasn't about the price of smiles. Your smiles were the price.
>my face after watching the finale
>the true price of smiles were the friends we made along the way
>coal on mars
Mars had life. You can't fool me.
