Is Haruhi a relic from the past at this point?
Is Haruhi a relic from the past at this point?
To be a relic she has to be worth something in the first place.
I want clothed paizuri from Haruhi
I WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH SUZUMIYA HARUHI-SAMAAAAAAAAAAAA
Aya hirano certainly is
Pretty much. It's been so long since the movie, and the author seemingly has no plans to continue it. He really shouldn't strayed away from the bits with the second group, but too late now. I think he's regretting the choices he made with his story, and he just doesn't feel like continuing it in the way it was headed. It's over.
I feel so out of the loop with her anymore, last role I remember knowing it was her was that Zettai Karen Children spinoff six years ago.
Seeing how many people now seem to be easily impressed by Bunny Girl Senpai, I would say yes.
Yes, but that's okay, it happens to everyone
Unfortunately yes, I love the serie and always wonder what could have been if it continued (with kyoani) but I'm thankful for what we already got.
Nah, Surprise was the best possible direction for the story.
not for my dick
A lot of comedies from the 2000's have aged badly.
>But what about (same five shows)?
A lot doesn't mean all.
I watched and enjoyed this back in 2006 but never got around to anything that came after. Is anything past the first season worth watching?
Aren't we all?
>last role I remember knowing it was her was that Zettai Karen Children spinoff six years ago.
She did get to reprise her role in the Yuki-chan anime. Also she's finishing up Lucy for Fairy Tail. Outside of that, doesn't look like she's done much since 2017.
>Is anything past the first season worth watching?
Yes. You will have to suffer through the worst part of the anime, but watching it sets up the movie which is easily the best thing out of the whole adaptation.
She's been voicing two fairly popular characters in Granblue the last couple of years, so she's not completely dead.
No, my first time watching it was about a year ago and I thought it was good and pretty unique
Overrated as all fuck and she was the worst character on her show by far.
Though I think Haruhi wouldn't do so hot now. It was amazing in 2006, but if it came out today, it would've been seen as an overrated, large pile of cliches.
The author is lazy.
How was the movie?
No, she's alive and well in my heart
So I should sit through the entirety of Endless Eight? I remember hearing lots of complaints about that.
>So I should sit through the entirety of Endless Eight?
If you like seeing the same thing 8 times with very minor differences, by all means do so.
Great
Only if you like the first one.
You can watch the first two and the last one of you don't want to waste your time.
>the "it was only good at the times" meme
"No!" Haruhi's solid writing, development and themes has never been about tropes or 2006 stuff. If anything, the piles of shit we've been getting since that time only highlight how good it was.
God is dead.
>promised Kyon she'll dress up as a maid one day
>you'll never get to see it
That sounds like a good idea, the entire concept of E8 put me off from watching it back in the day so I'll probably go with this.
user is dead
So who was actually god? Was it the viewer?
Is up for the viewer interpretation
Yes I but I remember her fondly.
yes. yes, he is.
This artist is my headcanon.
>no info about further anime
>LNs went on hiatus
>the cast can't get royalties from the show anymore
>Suzumiya, driven by lack of money, starts doing porn photoshoots
forced animation
forced breathing
>Haruhi
>Relic
The images actually appear out of thin air because Kyon wants them
young people who never saw haruhi will be a large chunk of this board's population Soon
Good, less mouth breathers like the 2 retards above that know about it.
I will wish for a season 3 from all my heart
>Kyon' superceeded genki ego
For a character that's basically figment of God imagination she was pretty catchy
Something that still looks that sexy can't be a relic.
what about this
Yes. You need to suffer through Endless Eight to understand Nagato's suffering in the movie
That's not funny kyon, people have died waiting!
Birds of a feather.
Masterpiece
Seeing as people keep talking about it, no.
From a production standpoint? Probably.
Epic, did you come up with it yourself?
harunyan
I feel like I didn't experience the true suffering of Endless Eight since I just watched Haruhi all at once, instead of waiting a week just to watch the same episode again and again and again and again and again and again and again.
Does anything significant even happen in the unadapted novels?
Yes, though Disappearance was a pretty good stopping point all things considered
>relic has to be worth something
>Aya Hirano
everything below the waist is beyond salvageable
The two main characters aren't really cliches and those are the only ones that matter.
Yuki fits the Rei trope but she's a full-fledged character. Same goes for Koizumi
It's not a very good show and never was. The first episode promised a lot more than the show could actually deliver. It wasn't very clever or funny for that matter and I think if you watched it today you'd see that it's aged like milk. The Hare Hare Yukai dance was fun, it spawned some good memes, and it was good to be part of Yea Forums when it first aired but in hindsight there's really nothing to it beyond the superficial things that people like about it.
We're all relics, OP.
Some of us will be dug up while others will be forgotten.
We are fossils waiting to be discovered.
That's like saying the simpsons is derivaive after only watching family guy.
maybe
not until we are fully bald
She's not really a full-fledged character until the movie. I mean they are not bad characters, but if they were the main character I can see how some would consider it "cliche":
sasuga deepfag, I never cared about the meme dance and it's still one of my favs.
She was a herald of the dark times, the desert of moe though she herself was not.
Definitely. The endless eight is a masterpiece
It’s basically the old Madoka.
Yes, just suck it up and do it. If you have friends, do it with them.
You'll thank us later.
>shameless autism
i love her
>she has no character if you ignore the part where she reveals her entire character
I mean yeah? Well more accurately you only get brief glimpses at her self before the movie
>haruhi released 20 years ago
early 2000s relic nsync tier
Come on the whole "autistic robot who's actually sensitive" thing wasn't exactly novel at that point, she has some moments in TV but it's not until the movie where she's more of a character, and even then not nearly as developed as the main two.
Not an argument. Cliches aren't a bad thing, but their effectiveness depends on the timing of the product.
She's one of the few ones done right though because the MCs actually didn't pay attention to her until it exploded. I'd say Someday in the Rain develops her character more than the movie.
>snarky protag who really cares
Kyon has been done to hell and back. The main reason he gets a pass is because he arguably popularized it and is one of the most entertaining about it.
>because the MCs actually didn't pay attention to her until it exploded.
While that's what the movie wants you to think I'd not say it's completely truth, Kyon isn't some autism doctor and even then the few development we get from Nagato in TV is thanks to his good perception. Someday in the day was a good move to give more continuity to that though.
the reason kuudere characters are popular is because there are lots of people who like them. They usually aren't meant to be novel, and they aren't going away any time soon. As another user just said, cliches and tropes are not a bad thing unto themselves. Nobody dislikes the story of Hercules because muscular male protagonists are overdone, it's simply an archetype that exists within our storytelling, as a projection of societal ideals.
I would argue that Yuki is probably one of the most novel takes on the kuudere, both because of the subtlety of her characterization, the fact that she's a synthetic life form created by sixth dimensional aliens to communicate with humans is pretty fucking far out there, and also the fact that the viewer experiences endless eight with her.
You can simplify every character by putting things like that. What makes Kyon good is that he has legit reasons to dislike Haruhi despite the good she brings. It makes his inner conflict a lot more organic.
It kinda is though. They never really try to interact meaningfully with her, despite Kyon's observations. The closest he got was when he asked her if she was okay in E8 and then forgot about her. That's the thing, they didn't really wronged her but they asked her for help a lot of times but neglected her for most of the story.
maybe the real god was the friends we made along the way
>What makes Kyon good is that he has legit reasons to dislike Haruhi despite the good she brings.
Most snarkers do. Off the top of my head, the only snarker protags who were actually wrong to take beef with what they went through were Haruki aaaaand that's about it.
But previous snarky MCs don't tie the personality to the themes of the show nearly as much as Kyon. Besides Kyon's main trait is reluctant comformism and defeatism, being snarky is just the comedic part.
Remember when we had a Nagato thread that last a whole week last year, with posts to spare
Yeah I'm thinking this show is dead. Or maybe Yea Forums is just slow as shit now, a bit of both I guess
Couldn't blame him though, I'd definitely not act naturally with a thing like Yuki at first.
Waste of oxygen
It's not just having good reasons but also working within the story and themes. Kyon's function isn't "the snarky guy", he's a foil to Haruhi in many regards and his perceptiveness along with his unreliable narration works a lot for the story
It's really good.
One of the few characters/shows that decided to crash and burn instead of age gracefully.
Now the show is just a reminder of what "could have' been.
You are now remembering Endless 8 manually
