So, do people agree Wano generally solves Luffy/SHs/arc characters focus problem the best so far (or at least it looks like it will). Wano arc being stretched both over time and space (two weeks and pretty much the whole country) really allows their individual plotlines to kick off. I think it's the arc that's handling them (as a whole) the best so far. It at the same time is the most SH focused arc after FI and allows much room for the side characters, the perfect middle ground between pre-Marineford and post-TS. The only gripe I have with this is that it's really only half of SHs that's getting individual focus, with the rest playing support for them (which is already better than both WCI and DR), but there's still a long way ahead of us.

As much as "nothing happens" is a meme, the chapters with little substance aren't rare in long arcs, pretty much the only big thing of note that happened in these 12 chapters between Doffy going birdcage and Luffy and Law confronting him was gladiators deciding to support them, for example. I could easily see Oda using periods like this to figure the ending out.

My autistic fan theory about this currently is that cursed blades try to become black blades by drinking a lot of blood. Like, a lot. That is why they are so eager to even cut their own user. The Sandai Kitetsu recognized that if it stays with Zoro it is much more likely to cut up a lot of people than if it would remain in that swordshop in Loguetown. So it curved around his arm. And when it noticed his strength, it decided that it would be stupid to cut him because he would use it to cut many more people. Basically, the sandai has the "plan" to drink a lot of blood, and Zoro is a useful tool in that plan.

I honestly think that has to do with greater metaphysical concepts in One Piece. And that means we are getting into even deeper and even more autistic fan theories.
Basically, I think everything in One Piece, every living being and every object, has a will of its own. Things behave according to their will. Most things just have a really simple will. For example, a rock will only have the will to be hard, heavy and fall when being thrown. Some things have stronger wills though. The Going Merry had the will to sail with its crew. The ocean itself has a will - it does not allow devil fruit users to swim in it. Cursed blades have a very strong will to cut, much more so than any ordinary sword. A will so strong that it manifested in a curse.

This entire "will" concept also hints at an explanation for why objects can use devil fruits, why "the voice of all things" is a thing, or maybe even how haki - aka, willpower - can influence your surroundings - you force your own will onto the will of the objects, overpowering theirs.

It's super speculative, but I think it is a good attempt at explaining some of the stuff happening in One Piece. We'll see how Oda will blow me the fuck out eventually.
