It's ending so might as well read it to the end.
new chapter up: readms.net
Nanatsu no Taizai
God I wish this didn't go the MUH FEELINGS route. I miss the comfy S1 days of Nanatsu.
I remember catching up to the manga after watching the first episodes, it was around chapter 10x~~
I thought that while the series was fairly classic, it was pleasing andentertaining to read. I don't know what killed the hype but I feel nothing while the chapters now.
These last chapters have been absolute meh, but especially after Chandler and that other faggot did the fusion dance.
What went wrong with this series?
Because its clear something went very very wrong along they way
Escanor fingering Zeldris might had been the last decent moment of the manga before everything started to crumble apart
Stopped reading after Meliodas cutted a mountain in half with a twig, what I missed bros?
>It's ending so might as well read it to the end.
lmao
Nice one user.
>ban finally does something
>lol nope mel inside "helping" (kill stealing)
Only the first arc was good, after that, the pacing became TOO slow, especially for Arthur, no development at all, fuck this manga.
would you rather have Ban soloing the literal King of Demons (one of the strongest races)?
>guy who spend +1000 years in purgatory training
yes
that would have been much better than whatever bullshit we got on how mel is the only one who can do shit
Now that Ban is so sturdy he could use his foxhunt to steal a lot of strenght from the Devil King. But the author doesnt care anymore
Wouldn't it just add to Demon king's strength? Wasn't that his thing?
>What went wrong with this series?
Complete lack of planning after the first huge ark first and foremost. He did a wonderful job with Liones arc and problems has started immediately afterwards. Utterly retarded inventions like power eye, hilariously unfocused story, Diane having the weakest background story and Nakaba being so scared of moving forward her romance with King so much he decided to reset the whole thing and not bother with it for the next few years. None of the story implications of the first ark played any interesting role (Mel being theorized to be a half-breed, Danafor turning out mostly irrelevant to the overarching plot), Sacred Treasures stopped playing any role in story and abilities of main characters, cast got bloated to a point Nakaba was unable to handle it. And that prior to the current "war" arc which was generally pathetic and uninteresting and had some of the worst fights in whole manga.
In other words, fuckton of things went wrong.
>14 posts in 80 minutes
ban being stronger than escanor is already pushing it
you should be satisfied with what you have
But thats Mel's body controlled by the Demon King, no?
It doesnt make much sense. The DK plotted during thousand of years to posess Mel's body and he is still stuck on Purgatory and Mel is weaker than his true self. Its all so stupid
Also Arthur. Anyone remembers him?
this series is all about genetics and race being determiners of power
>fairies
>demons
>giants
>goddessess
literally all of them stronger than humans, for an OP human we already had Escanor and it fucking broke the power scaling, so please don't insist in having another OP human, it's unnecesary
Arthur doesn't count, he's the MC of the sequel manga and needed to put to rest until NnT is over
He had a pretty fun introduction but the way manga handled him was an outright travesty. It's probably the second time i'm getting annoyed with japanese treatment of Arthur after the awful Fate waifushit.
Yes. Please. Ban deserves it after being nothing but a jobber through the entire manga.
I don't give a shit about the sequel manga tho. If anything it only makes NnT worse.
With how awful he was in NNT i don't want that sequel manga.
I agree here, i was just pointing out that Arthur is the only thing that Nakaba didn't forget.
I still have hopes that he has planed Arthur's manga better and he tried to end NnT even against his editor's wish.
I personally don't hate how things have gone now. Of course, I don't feel hype now, but that's because we're at the closure of this part of the story and there are nearly no questions left to be answered now so the only thing left is the good guy beating the big evil dad.
>but that's because we're at the closure of this part of the story
In KB the final battle was the hypest shit in the entire manga and a punch that forced Akira's brother to fly around the planet left me with a shit eating grin on my face.
Here it feels that Nakaba is so tired he barely gives a fuck about what's happening.
Meliodas is literally what killed the hype
he's literally the MC and one of the least liked characters in the series, the rest of the sins were keeping the manga decent and then this faggot shows up with "muh friendship" and "you guys make me stronger" and literally soloes the DK, fuck this guy
Is Escanor going to do anything relevant before this ends or does his entire role in this story amount to having the occasional cool scene and getting cucked by a teenage boy?
>tfw still mad we're not getting best boy Mael in THE ONE state and combine with Sunshine Grace Sun dimension going ham on the DK possessed Meliodas showing Sunshine's true power
again fuck you Nakaba
I can't believe how much Nakaba shafted fan favorite character. The entire 10C arc was carried by Escanor and all Nakaba did was shit on him. If you're not going to give him character development at least let him stay top tier, The One is a joke now compared to Ban, King and Meliodas.
He is the definition of Gary Stu
>Never lose
>Everybody love him
>Strong from the start
Threads were way more active when Mael was in focus.
Or when King was in focus
The One still remains undefeated and will probably stay that way, The One is basically invincible, but at any other time Escanor is nothing to them
Post-noon Mael made Ominous nebula completely useless while The One struggled to break through it. Anyway, having relevant power level only one minute a day doesn't make him comparable to top dogs. Nakaba even created True night spell, like being reliant on a time of the day wasn't bad enough.
yeah but the one defeated zeldris while mael struggled against him
Mael did in fact beat Zeldris.
What's up with the release schedule for this manga now? I miss the threads every time because of this.
>that entire scene with all the sins giving a comment to Meliodas
This gonna be good when it's adapted into the anime.
I'm only still reading for King and Diane babies
> MeLiOdAs Is JuSt UsInG NaKaMa PoWer tO wIN
The Meliodas thats fighting the demon king inside his body are his FUCKING EMOTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN IN PURGATORY LONGER THAN BAN.
When he believed everyone was dead he was depressed so his emotions were weaker
when his emotions were reversed the opposite happens. his strength is replenished.
>Zeldris
I personally love Zel the most but I dont see him dying considering he took so much even fingered by THE ONE and healed. none of his hearts have been touched so hes just out for the fight.
but can we talk about what the rest of the sins are really going to do? Ban is the only one that can do anything and hes getting his shit kicked in. he shouldn't be this drained already after all the hype.
>Mael basically replaces Escanor rn and hes useless
>King isn't Elvis anymore so he cant do anything
>Diane PFFT what is she going to do
>Gowther what can he do that wont interfere with Meliodas?
> Merlin could try that shit she pulled on Chandler and Cusack but she would have already tried something if that were the case
>Ban will prob die
>Mel is already putting in work
The whole purpose of this current fight is to get normal Mel back, not to finish the whole series and to recruit Zeldris to Boar hat
They really were the best thing about the manga.
because zeldris was attacking someone else at the time and mael sucker punched him
Nah, this is already over
Mel and Elizabeth would sacrifice themselves to seal the dumb Demon King forever. That way they could stay together too. Series would be over just like that.
id support that
I'm honestly okay with that. Mel and Elizabeth rank pretty low in terms of characters I'm invested in. They could continue with the rest of the cast and I'd still be reading.
Reminder that the SD is somewhere out there and hates them just as much
>Go Meliodas-sama! You can do it!

I don't think it's ending quite yet. It hasn't been "about a year" since the announcement yet. The SD will probably show up as the actual final boss, since the DK has been a fairly smooth fight.
Scrapping the third arc. I won't be surprised if the Supreme Goddess never appears and the rest of the gaidens are shafted.
More than anything, when a series ends they usually announce it some weeks before the actual final chapter and I still don't see any mention of the definite end in the scanalations or anywere else
The SD has already shown up. The goddess in the horn made fun of Mel for being cursed and asked if he'd like to continue their battle. Back then as far as we knew this could have referred to any relatively strong goddess but now that we know how strong Mel used to be in the past the only female goddess who wouldn't be afraid of fighting him is the SD. As far as the gaidens go I think you're on the right track. Mel's one is important and will almost certainly happen. We already know about Merlin's backstory so that one's not necessary, but she will probably appear in Mel and Elizabeth's flashback somehow. After that there's only half of Diane's gaiden which has almost certainly been abandoned by now and then something explaining why Escanor obtained Sunshine which could maybe be explored through Mael. Nakaba might rush those out of the way to give Escanor and Diane powerups for the final fight.
To be fair, it makes sense now. It was established that their mind battle is a battle of spirits, completely removed of actual PLs, and Meliodas has great motivation. On the outside, we see a 50% DK, who is concentrating on fighting on 2 fronts, getting rejected by the body he figts in, going against one of the most powerful guys of the verse and still holds up.
Escanor should have died vs Estarossa. Making him win against all the demon princes is the worst writing in any shounen.
Nakaba realized he never finished Diane's arc.
Why do you think this is the final battle? The next one will be final, when the SD comes back, and it will be the 7 + Eli vs the 2 deities.
That is Escabore. Meliodas lost a fair amount of times and is hated by his family and the goddesses.
I fucking hope this is the final battle because i don't see the manga's quality going anywhere but even lower with every chapter.
>1 day left until Elizabeth's curse triggers
>Mel gains the means to remove it
>he now only has 1 day left to stay in Britannia
The fact that Nakaba has maintained this time limit for the last 70 or so chapters even after it was seemingly resolved points to the fact that something important is going to happen on the last day. I'm guessing the SD will show up and the cast will have to fight her, which will give us noon-Mael. There's also enough time for King to go Elvis mode again, for Diane to use gaia form, for Escanor to awaken his real magic and for Merlin to use her sacred treasure. Everyone at the peak of their power vs a literal god. Not a hugely surprising final boss fight given Nakaba's love of JRPGs.
NNT is Nakaba's love letter to Square.
Lyoness arc was FF9
First half of the Commandment arc was FF6
Second half was Xenogears
Last part is Kingdom Hearts.
Next chapter Meliodas will say "My friends are my power!" before the last strike.
Can someone clarify this shit for me I still don't get it after all this time.
When Meliodas and Ban escaped purgatory, it didn't work out perfectly well for Meliodas and he resorted to using his own power that he was afraid of. We then saw the Demon King's arm being fucking DELETED.
Now he has returned to his original body and is fighting a mental battle against his father. And yet, he isn't using that power. WHY? I don't understand, it feels like I'm missing something. It's like that ending portion of the purgatory never happened.
>NNT is Nakaba's love letter to Square.
And it's unfortunate that we are rapidly approaching FF13 tier writing quality and pacing
It's hard to say since we don't know what his power actually does. I'm guessing it's going to be used either in the next chapter to finish off the DK or as the finisher against the final boss ala the Hendy fight.

OHNONONOOOO
Because he doesn't need to. He's already kicking Demon King's ass without it.
It basically lost it when Mel 'died'. After that point everyone's so powerful all these new super attacks lack any sense of impact. Too much ramping up too many asspull powers. Not enough chracter interaction and no fun allowed by the plot.
It started off feeling like Dragon Ball, It's now like Dragon Ball Z played at 10x speed.
>Ban still isn't using his sacred weapon and therefore isn't even at full power
What the fuck Nakaba? How is this human taking on a demon?
>Delores still permakilled offscreen
>titty angel still permakilled
Feels bad man.
Or will we get another arc with the goddess and revealing some super duper powerful angels that for whatever reason have stayed hidden up until now.
It happened in two steps. The first 100 chapters were great, but immediately after the first arc powerlevels were suddenly introduced out of nowhere and then the introduction of the TC resulted in massive powercreep. This rendered half of the Sins and pretty much everyone else in the cast completely irrelevant. The next step happened when Mel lost his emotions. Not only did he turn all dark and edgy but this was also accompanied by more powercreep. Another thing worth mentioning is that Nakaba mentioned in an interview that he scrapped the third(goddess?) arc because he "wanted to focus on Mel and Elizabeth's story". That can be seen as his biggest mistake, because Elizabeth is pretty boring and Mel just seems like a Gary Stu at this point. In a nutshell, it's power levels, in honor of the poster who doesn't even bother with this manga anymore. It wouldn't be very difficult to avoid making the same mistakes in the Arthur sequel but Nakaba hasn't really been on a roll lately so who know's what's going to happen.
Mel's death was still a cool moment and the Liones and flashback arcs were pretty good too. The powercreep that you're talking about happened when Mel went assault mode in the Corrand arc. Ban and Merlin were still weak while King, Diane and Gowther had just barely reached 40k. Then Mel suddenly jumps all the way to 140k followed by Escanor, Cusack and Chandler and then some of the archangels. King and Ban eventually caught up with that too but now Mel's got yet another powerup. After the first arc Nakaba forgot how to keep the main cast balanced so someone is always massive stronger than the rest.
Remember you will have inevitable arc involving Arthur once this garbage fire of an story is wrapped up.
Can't fucking wait.
Am I the only guy who hasnt given up hope yet for Elizabeth to be the secret mastermind?
Why even have a scene of her mindcontrolling merlin otherwise.
The demonking fight feel like a penultimate fight..
He's kinda there, and he's a big name, but he also wasnt actively participating in the story, and kinda popped out of nowhere.
The real final villain has got to be someone that has personal attachments to the whole group, right?
>arc
It's going to be a separate series, if it's even going to happen at this point. I think it actually has some potential, since Arthur stabbing himself and draining his own powers would allow us to go back to the comfy Liones arc powerscale. Things could go south very quickly if Nakaba wants to introduce the Sins' children though, considering some of them could end up being even more broken than their parents.
Fuck your power scaling and swallow my semen. Check my based digits
Remember that in all of Nakaba's works, the MC father looks evil at first, but turns out to be good by the end. DK knows Elizabeth is evil and wanted power to stop her scheme. In a few chapters, Mel will win, the DK will tell him about Elisabeth, Mel forgives him, then Elizabeth kills him from behind. Final battle is Sins vs Eli, who absorbs the DK and SDs powers.
cringe
>the MC father looks evil at first, but turns out to be good by the end
Could be tied to what Zeldris is talking about, unless "for the sake of those dearest to you" just refers to him treating Mel and Zel like crap to make them stronger. I could also see this being related to the demon princes' mother or maybe the SD.
This is Zeldris' inner monolouge on Meliodas, nothing to do with the DK.
He was in love with the Supreme Deity, his redemption arc is that he had a failed romance just like every other redemption arc.
So who is SD going to revealed to be?
Herself. Twist of the year.
Eli's earring, AKA Meliodas's mom, AKA Twigo's mustache.
Back when the Liones arc was wrapping up i thought "hey, even if manga goes to shit in the future we will always have this fantastic arc".
It's sad that i was right about it.
t. Manlet demon
It's fucking hilarious that introducing powerlevels was what killed this series. Its as if only DBZ can be the sole series that could use them and even that ended pretty early.
IMO, power levels weren't even the problem. It's how literally only the seven deadly sins mattered in the cast right after the ten commandments arc. Everybody else was pretty much useless. I get that the seven deadly sins are kinda the main gang, but holy shit it's insane how fast everyone became fodder-tier right at the beginning of the 10 commandments arc. Like everyone else are still far behind the Sins, and we're talking about dudes that were able to hold their own against the Sins, like Guila was able to hold her own against multiple Sins but now they could literally blink and defeat her.
Well, I guess power levels were kinda the problem. I mean, in the end the manga fell into the same sorta trap that other battle manga do, which was the power level escalation trap.
new season when?
Even most of the Deadly Sins didn't matter at all for the majority of the manga's lifespan. They just got screentime to show off how much they didn't matter.
>These last chapters have been absolute meh
Wrong, it has been utter garbage since Merlin asspulling elemental debuffs, and the resolution of Estarossa's subplot was garbage as well
seriously, most of the ten commandments arc was the sins getting dicked around, doing pointless training sequences, then getting BTFO anyway until mel or escanor came around and anticlimactically squashed the commandments
I liked him pre-commandments because he felt like he wouldn't be the strongest of the sins, just one of the more solid fighters and their charismatic rallying point. Everyone had their niche. Diane seemed like she'd be outright better in brute force. Post Edinburgh, it also seemed to cement that Gowther and Escanor would be the unstable aces that had to be managed properly, with Merlin being a half step down from them. They all ultimately could be more of an asset than Mel, just not when left unattended. And I mean, they kind of did all of that. Just not nearly enough. And Diane didn't matter at all and Mel mattered way too much.
The whole commandment side of the series can be summed up with how the Pleiades handled Fraudrin; "hey look! teamwork and debuffs can make up for power defici-" Nakaba still comes up with some wonderful looking powers and incorporates a lot of cool effects (pic related having a ton), but in the end they don't matter. Enemies are stronger than the other characters so that Mel can be even stronger and everyone will have to love him.
Does anyone get the feeling that Merlin doesn't just not have feeling for Escanor, but genuinely dislikes him. Seems like she either looks at him the same way she does everyone else or with disdain. I can't seem to shake the feeling that she really dislikes him.
She pities him.
Mel's power level or story importance is not a problem. He had the strongest ability since the very beginning and manga hints at his incredible powers very early with immortal Ban suffering damage from his slash. The problem is that his entire personality started revolving around Elizabeth. In the beginning he was a laid back, easygoing guy with fantastic banter with other people who took a dumb bimbo on a ride to gather his comrades. When the bimbo became his only motivation she literally dragged him to her own level and she's pretty much the most boring character in whole manga.
Those segments in the manga where he and his background were still largely a mystery were the best. Danafor seemed to be extremely important for his development. Liz seemed to be a much better character than Elizabeth despite having almost no screen time. Theorizing about him being a half-demon was interesting too, way more interesting that what we got in the end. The moment 10C has appeared is the moment manga went down the drain.
why?
Too much demon focus.
The power level and story importance are a problem combined when literally nobody but him, Escanor and Merlin are able to do anything of note. King and Diane have had so much screen time dedicated to getting more powerful just to be spiked back to worthless combatants one chapter later. If the manga wasn't so focused on the power levels and how they warp the setting around them, Meliodas' edges being sanded off wouldn't be nearly as big a problem.
She knows all he wants is her, and she doesn't like him that way. So she pities him.
Demons were a huge part of the story since day one.
They needed to stay as otherworldly and horrifying as they were during Liones arc though.
I can imagine Merlin saying some horrible shit to Escanor to get him to hate her so he can move on, but it actually takes away his pride leaving him powerless and ends up getting him inadvertently killed.
It'd be a funny plot development.
Names a single character in this manga that could beat them
Man these threads are dead
I really liked this manga. Especially the earlier bits (which were comfy as fuck). I get that it's flawed but I still enjoy it for what it is. I only wish Escanor get's a power up and kills the Demon King by sacrificing himself.
Of course the powerlevels weren't the main problem, it was the fact that he kept using them. The reason why DBZ was so good for so long was because Toriyama cut all that bullshit out until the Buu arc started. But Nakaba's retarded ass was so stupid, he couldn't see that powercreep is the second worst possible thing to happen to manga or any series in general.
I mean goddamn the only shit manga to rival this series in the amount of jobbers the side cast has is DBS and Nardo since all of them only has two characters worth a damn and they're all horrid shitters. Don't even get me started on how utterly atrocious those demon jobbers and goddess retards were.
So when are we getting out Melodias and El Hermano go to Namek while everyone else is dead and become increasingly irrelevant arc?
