True Underdog Shounen

I remember back then when it was very hated. Constant comparisons to former shounen manga left, right and center. The hate was over top as it was seen as a replacement for Naruto which ended just a few months before Black Clover's manga debut. It was even dubbed as the worst manga in history by anitubers and dropped by the anime community within the first episode or two. And the hate doesn't stop there. It got worse when the anime debuted due to various reasons (you all know it already).

If we look back at it, Black Clover the series is literally Asta in a nutshell. Looked down and mocked by everyone, while its rival series is the common popular rival trope that has the best sales, reception, animation etc. and is basically loved by the majority.

But just like Asta, Black Clover keeps on moving forward. Doesn't mind the people who constantly shit on it and proves in every arc that it keeps on getting better. It has became its own thing.

It certainly has its flaws as does any other series, but the majority are outweighed by its strengths. More and more people are now seeing that it was really worth following, even those who originally had their doubts at the beginning. As a result its popularity is increasing.
Black Clover still has a long way ahead of it, but it shall always be known as the personification of the true underdog shounen protagonist.

Seeing OPM S2's lackluster animation makes me kinda want to watch Black Clover now

Don’t bother it’s trash

You don't watch BC. You read BC. Pierrot is still incapable of handling long running series.

I hate BC and I think it's trash but I read 1000 pages in one day, so at least it goes down easy

>I remember back then when it was very hated
its still hated

Shounen sucks

It still is, by any reasonable human being
Hell, no one at anime cons even bothers to cosplay shit from BC, not even cosplay thots

Isn't the only reason SJ cares about BC because they need back-up in case something happens to Academia?

The first 3 episodes are really trashy.
Asta and yuno beat up a nobody magic user.
Yuno gets gifted an incredibly rare and powerful grimoire
Asta gets nothing
But then asta gets an even more special grimoire without it being explained

I'll read it when its finished, the only shounen manga's I keep up with is One Piece, My Hero, and Dr Stone. Altough if anything playing as Asta in jump force made me interested in his series a bit.

I like how self aware the anime staff is of it's online reputation
We don't deserve Chadsta and Blacked Clover

I hope that I never set my eyes on this shit again, never!

Why is that disgusting tranny cosplaying as luffy?

So how are the sales?

Real talk, and im being genuine. Do you read/watch black clover and if so what was the appeal. I remember I watched the 1st episode and like how he did intense physical training to make up for his lack of powers, but I hated how he suddenly had a power that could negate all powers. That and his voice was a bit annoying and I didn't like they way he acted around that nun lady. What are some key points or scenes that are memorable, say something comparable to One Piece's Marinford, or the Kaminaro Arc in My Hero? Im even trying to bait, I don't hate the series but I have no interest so im just trying to see it from a different view point.

>I hated how he suddenly had a power that could negate all powers
Stop being traumatized by lesser series and accept the one that finally does things right

Trully underdog... when everyone came here just to shit on it

I dunno still seem like bull shit to me

>sales quality
Go read Wan piss faggot

Funny how I met so many people who make gay/lesbian marine OCs,despite the fact that Oda confirmed that gays are NOT allowed to join the Marines.
Being gay in the One Piece universe is kinda like being gay in Russia - everyone will be hunting you till the day that you die.The WG will never forgive you.
Oda also said that upon being discovered as gay in the Marines, you will be automatically shot in the head or tortured to death.

Not him, but BC's sales are good enough for a long running series. Pierrot probably makes a lot of money from the series due to its lower budget compared to Boruto.

That kinda makes sense as Ivankov is part of Dragon's crew.

New fan here. I love how logically sound Black Clover is. Characters are realistic in the sense that their actions usually do nott come off as contrived for the sake of progressing the plot. They act just like how a real person in their position would act.
Like when characters target the healers first, or when Vetto prioritizes disabling Yami's primary method of combat, by breaking his sword, instead of just simply attacking head on as you'd typically see in other shonen.
Or when Patri reincarnates the elves as soon as he gets the chance, thereby taking out a significant portion of the Clover Kingdom's strongest fighters, unlike other shonen where the villain waits until just the moment when he and the protagonist finally confront each other.

To use MHA as an example, I dislike how UA has a lot of classes that deal with physical exercise, training your Quirks and using them in combat, but absolutely nothing about hand-to-hand to combat or martial arts. Ochako had to go out of her way to specifically do an internship at the office of a hero that specializes in martial arts in order to learn anything, and with just a week there she progressed a lot, imagine how much better she'd be if somebody at UA taught her even more. Imagine how much better students with Quirks that lack offensive power like Hagakure would be if they learned CQC. Imagine how much better students with super strength would be if they were taught martial arts instead of relying on PUNCH HARDER.

But no, even though Aizawa is living proof of the value of martial arts and not relying solely on your Quirk in battle, the school doesn't teach any of it, not even as an elective. I think that this is a serious flaw in the way that UA is run (cont)

Why don't the MHA villains target the heroes' families as revenge, as hostages, etc. etc? Why don't they target Recovery Girl considering how rare and extremely useful her quirk is, because without her UA wouldn't be able to make the entrance exam as dangerous as it is, or tend to patients (including hero patients) at hospitals like she usually does.

>Why don't the MHA villains target the heroes' families as revenge
They do.
>hostages
Villains have taken hostages to turn the battle
I mean the families were never on the battlefield so the combination hasn't happened.
>Why don't they target Recovery Girl
UA is a fortress.

>They do
Who?

>mean the families were never on the battlefield
Families don't have to literally be at the battlefield. Heros are popular and their identities are known. Nothing is stopping villains from learning where said hero lives and attacking their families when they're not around. Like I said, this aspect isn't realistic. Villains not making use of opportunities like this to bring down hero society is contrived writing.

>UA is a fortress
Shigaraki and his disintegration quirk disagree. Hell with so many different types of quirks around there is no way to guarantee the security of something.

>Who?
Shigaraki himself. He is the grandson of Nana Shimura and All for One specifically targeted and corrupted him because of that connection.
>Nothing is stopping villains from learning where said hero lives and attacking their families when they're not around
It would not fit with Stain's views.
The Yakuza was destroyed. Gentle wouldn't want it.
The league is on the last leg after AfO got imprisoned and still pretending they are following the will of Stain.
>Shigaraki and his disintegration quirk disagree.
How? There are still a million of heroes in the way.

>HE IS THE TRUE UNDERDOG XDDDD IM COOL YET?
later you will see how the writer goes full bleach and gives asta all the ichigo bullshit heritage

>All for One specifically targeted and corrupted him
Yes, just one villain out of the many thousands of villains out there. The reason why Western Superheroes hide their identity is to protect their loved ones from danger. MHA throws that concept out the window but it doesn't take into account the consequences.

>It would not fit with Stain's views.
When I say "villains" I don't just mean the LoV but every criminal who roams the streets, etc. Stain is not the be all, end all. Not every villain agrees with his views.

>There are still a million of heroes in the way.
And yet he still managed to steal their timetable without anybody realizing? Not to mention back then Kurogiri could warp him anywhere even if heroes did see him. This argument doesn't really hold.

>but every criminal who roams the streets
I told you all the villains the Heroes encountered and why they shouldn't
The only one who wants it and had the means did attack the family.
>Not to mention back then Kurogiri could warp him anywhere even if heroes did see him.
Did you see what happened at USJ once the heroes arrived? They would be there right from the start. They would be completely fucked.
>Not to mention back then Kurogiri could warp him anywhere even if heroes did see him.
Kurogiri is not unbeatable and catchable if he doesn't watch out
Which he did.

Nope. A thousands year old Witch Queen confirmed that there's nothing special about Asta's lineage. Him being born with no magic is simply a mutation.

Based Tabata subverts yet another trope!

>I told you all the villains the Heroes encountered and why they shouldn't
That doesn't disprove my point. I'm saying villains in general have NO reason not to attack heroes' families, including small fodder who aren't important to the plot. It should certainly be a major problem in society and at the very least mentioned in the news, in passing, but we never hear about it.

>The only one who wants it and had the means did attack the family.
That right there is the problem I'm talking about. Realistically, there should be multiple villains, big or small, wanting to target heroes' families. The fact that there isn't is not realistic.

>Did you see what happened at USJ once the heroes arrived?
It's funny you bring up the USJ incident. If anything you're only supporting my argument. Who was it that saved Shigaraki and escaped? Yes it was Kurogiri. Kurogiri is the reason why the LoV still exists today. He would have done the same if they were spotted by the 'millions of heroes' in UA.

>Realistically, there should be multiple villains, big or small, wanting to target heroes' families.
How do you know there aren't? I thought your complaint was that the characters we see didn't have this happen to them.
>Who was it that saved Shigaraki and escaped?
And when did he have to do that?

>What are some key points or scenes that are memorable
Honestly, if you like One Piece's crew banter and camaraderie you'll like Black Clover. The series is focused around Asta's friends supporting his goal to be the Pirate Wizard Hokage.

It's hard to pick a key point without understanding the character's back stories like how much of an impact Ace's death was if you didn't know the shit he had to go through for being Roger's son and his relationship with Whitebeard and Luffy.

The best I can offer is this: youtu.be/n9Br99NpnSI Vanessa activating her ultimate ability to save her friends from being slaughtered by her mother.

Or this: youtu.be/CH0mjp4bZ80?t=31 Asta's friends finding out his arms are cursed so they each decide to try to find a cure for his arms. He eavesdrops on their conversation and realizes how much his friends care for him.

It's really hard to give a shit if you don't understand the characters though.

>How do you know there aren't?
Because it is never brought up in the news and in passing. Something like this should be a major issue but Hori never brings it up.

>the characters we see
I never said this. I don't care if it happens to characters we know or to randoms we might never see again. I just want Hori to acknowledge the issue exists. If it doesn't exist then that is just bad writing.

>And when did he have to do that?
During USJ when the heroes arrived, which proves my point here in the last paragraph. I said Recovery Girl could be killed. You said she couldn't because UA is a fortress. I said that means nothing because Shiggy already invaded it. You said they couldn't because "a million heroes show up". I said Kurogiri could simply warp him to a different area, and then you bring up the USJ incident which only helps my argument and not yours.
I'm not following your logic.

>Something like this should be a major issue but Hori never brings it up.
It was brought up the moment it was relevant for the characters.

>The series is focused around Asta's friends supporting his goal to be the Pirate Wizard Hokage.
No it's not. They've never talk about his dream. I do agree about the camaderie though which is reminiscent of the Straw Hats.

People alway compare BC to Naruto and Fairy Tail but to me it's closest to One Piece.

He brought it up for AFO, but not for villains in general. By "major issue" I am referring to a social issue that perpetually affects a large number of people in society, i.e. random villains targeting random families of heroes. This would also improve the worldbuilding and fix the issue Hori has of "telling but not showing".

>"telling but not showing".
I agree hori has that issue but you are literally demanding telling.

No I'm demanding he shows us panels of random villains attacking heroes' families out of revenge or to take them hostage.

>he shows us panels of random villains attacking heroes' families out of revenge or to take them hostage.
And I want random references to how the porn industry looks.

i droped when asta became got demon wings

what episode was that?
