That the production of the, so called by you, lazy 3dcgs costs more than a 2d animated film. The advantage though is that they can reuse assets for future works reducing the cost over time.

Reproducing one of those 3d films with the same amount of animation and detail in 2d would be much more expensive. You just don't fucking get it, you only need to make a model once but you need to hand draw 12 frames per second of animation if you're animating on 2s. 3 seconds of that animation by hand will require more work than making a 3d model, let alone 1000s of drawn frames. Look at this, plenty of stuff like the hair here has more detail than any 2d animation, even Violet Evergarden. Of course it's going to be more expensive to hand draw that shit 12/24 times a second for hours. And doing that consistently makes it even harder. This is fucking common sense, Jesus do i need to make a pasta for every retard?

Maybe. But what's your point? 3DCG is more practical for pretty much everything, that's why it's slowly replacing traditional animation in Japan and why it did in the west. That's why mechanical animation is almost all done like that now. Using 3DCG as a way out of having to draw something difficult is bad practice and the point was that it's lazier than doing the same thing by hand. I don't blame them using it in that situation due to the absurd difficulty of the cut but it's usually uncalled for. It's not anime and it's not used there as a stylistic choice so i feel calling Miyazaki an "adopter" of it is wrong or gives the wrong impression.

Look at these characters. This is how good hand drawn anime can look if you actually treat your staff properly and care about the artform.

And with every other studio fully booked and busy, and the gap between S1 and S2 getting larger, giving it to J.C. Staff seemed even unavoidable. It was always gonna turn out this way. See the background animation here. The consistency is pretty atrocious. OPM has refined art but that shit looks like something out of Mob. Compare that to Kyoani's background animation here in the top left corner. If Kyoani did it, it would be at least movie level quality.
