For the first time in my life i'm not trying to shit on something and genuinely curious

for the first time in my life i'm not trying to shit on something and genuinely curious
why do you people like jojo?
it's objectively and obviously the writer milking it as much as he can without giving a thought about the integrity of the overall plot
i can understand just enjoying it but people treat it like a masterpiece and it really confuses me since literally all i ever see about jojo is jokes about very obvious flaws of the show
also do people who like jojo also like stuff like pokemon and ygo as well since they feel quite similar

Attached: plot.png (180x205, 92K)

Because we have good taste and you don't, OP. Go back to eating shit.

Stand is a cool concept, it's original, and the fights are amusing. It's not the best thing out there, but its fun.

maybe watch it and find out why?

Jojo is "rule of cool".

i enjoyed the fights in part 3 as well despite seeing most of the stuff they do as bullshit. to me it feels like the fights and some of the stands are getting more and more ridiculous as time goes by. what makes me curious is why people worship it to this degree. calling it flawless etc.
i wouldn't write something like this about something i didn't watch

sorry to hear about your shit taste OP, maybe you should kys

Watch it and read it

i got bored with part 5 and stopped watching but i watched everything before that

Have you read Steel Ball Run

nope, dropped at part 5

I never considered JoJo a masterpiece. If anything, it's more of watching a man struggle to write a cool story.
You can see the things araki is into and what things work and don't work.
You see him grow as a story teller.

>it's objectively and obviously the writer milking it as much as he can
I tried to dumb myself down so that I could understand why you would think this, but when I got close to your level, I started to like Hiatus X Hiatus and I snapped back.

might be my fault for coming to this conclusion without reading anything after part 5 but the story i watched so far got me bored to the point where i just didn't want to continue

Your loss

Care to explain your clear obsession with the arrows?

I am just being polite

If you're so fucking bored drop the series
Why waste your time

Plot is the main weakness of the show. The positives are the characters, the fights, the jokes, and the overall style. Everything past part 2 is monster of the week, but it's a well done monster of the week.

why do you need me to explain it? it's the most effortless excuse for printing as many stands as possible
yeah i did enjoy part 3 for the overall chemistry of the main gang, part 4 was ok for kira i guess but i couldn't find anything valuable (at least for me) in part 5

>masterpiece
bold claim
>enjoyable
fuck yes

>it's objectively and obviously the writer milking it as much as he can without giving a thought about the integrity of the overall plot
You can have a lot of criticisms about JoJo but saying Araki is milking it and doesn't give it any thought just sounds ludicrous to me.

It's by no means a masterpiece, It couldn't be further from it. Based on my personal experience I'm going to assume people like it for the same reason I enjoy things like killing bites and demolition man. The writing is essentially a vehicle for cool fights and cool characters and as an added bonus since nobody really cares about the plot you can throw in the occasional asspull or just other absurd story element. You either like it or you don't

Attached: 4d920ee27fc47981a1bdad6b2f7cc4f3.jpg (1080x1080, 117K)

parts 1-3 and 7 are the only good parts.

name 10 anime like jojo
see? thats why we like it

Not OP, but I definitely think starting a sequel story every time the last one finishes for thirty+ years, to the point of finishing it, starting a new series, and then revealing that series is an AU sequel, counts as milking the concept.

I thought Part 5 was weaker too. It's mostly the fights that make it good. Did you get up to Beach Boy and Grateful Dead? If you haven't I'd suggest at least reading up to that.

i mean i do like jojo from part 1 to 3 and i really don't mean to insult the series. i just can't see how someone can see it as a masterpiece and defend it with everything they've got. there's clearly huge plotholes just for the sake of being able to produce more of this. i understand where you're coming from though
above also answers you
you're making me interested in part 7
yeah but i'm sure there are at least 10 yu-gi-ohs already? keke
i haven't, but thank you. i will if i feel like getting into jojo again

>he thinks people have ever read jojo for the plot
leave and watch something else user, i recommend something like shield hero or sword art online

Attached: brunooo.jpg (1038x1200, 163K)

Part 7 is a reboot and has nothing to do with the original universe, just treat like a new series and read it (the colored scans look like ass in the beginning, keep that in mind)

Watching Araki's crazy ideas come to life with his unique art style and unique storytelling is a treat that i just don't get in any other manga, he does not give a fuck and just draws whatever he wants to draw it just works
Besides, there is a good amount of depth to some of the themes in the series, araki's ideas on fate, souls and spiritual stuff like that is very interesting to see integrated into his manga,
JOJO is just full of unironical SOUL and there's just very few manga like it

Attached: 1552405946214.png (659x732, 1.13M)

thank you for the idea for a name
yea might start reading after my midterms are over, thanks for the advice
this was the kind of answer i was looking for, you don't seem to like the series just because it has jojo in the name and genuinely like the positive sides of it. appreciated

Because there are parts of Jojo that are genuine examples of masterful storytelling. And besides those it's a fun series with excellent lovable characters.

Attached: 1542074611605.jpg (3464x2228, 916K)

lurk more retard

I bailed after part 3, did I make a mistake?

>style
>humor
>characters
>powers/abilities
That’s the main appeal of Jojo, at least to me.

that's your problem. parts 7 & 8 are the best parts

>spoonfeed me please
Fuck off to whereever you came from and kill yourself newshit

i don't think i agree with the masterful part but fair enough
this is the result of that
if you're like me, run away and never look back
yeah i'm pretty sure i'll check part 7 thanks to this thread
>newshit

I'm confused about something, if the boss wanted the arrows so much why didn't he use the one he gave to his Capo with black sabbath from the beginning? Lol

The requiem arrow is different from the other arrows.

How is Jojo being milked when it constantly reinvents itself? Araki even threw away the original universe essentially and made something completely new. It's still using the same name because it's still based on a similar concept but parts 1 and 2 are different from parts 3, 4, 5, and 6 are different from parts 7 and 8. It's constantly fresh and doing something new. And Araki is batshit insane so it's cool seeing what he comes up with next. He's far from the most competent storyteller but he makes up for it with how interesting what he comes up with is.

Attached: JoJolion_84_017.png (975x1400, 520K)

what this guy said

I do believe Araki is genuinely a good writter, but he doesn't prioritize good or complex story telling over writting cool ideas for fights with cool characters, the entire manga is just araki writting what he thinks is cool and making it work coherently (not so much at times).

But it's because of how much he puts of himself in his work that jojo feels so full of soul and genuine passion, he can write some deep shit without being pretentious (things like the reset and origin of the universe) because he's just giving his perspective on the ideas and topics and adapting them to the world inside his manga.

But when he puts the effort into writting good characters and storylines he hits it out of the park, part 7 and 8 are good examples of this, since he's giving more attention to delivering more mature narratives since he has more pages to work with each month, but he's done it before in the past with great characters like Kira, Diavolo, Jolyne, etc

Attached: D0rd3BCWwAAa2Vs.jpg (1200x696, 67K)

>why do you people like jojo?
It's fun, it's by no means a masterpiece but it's great entertainment for that part of the brain that like over the top stupid shit.

I read JJBA for the fights because they're just so much better than in any other shounen.
Almost every battle in jojo is a contest of wit and will where the opponents have to utilize their abilities smart instead of just throwing mindless punches at each other (and when those come in play boy do they feel good).
There are some asspulls here in there, but overall it's a pretty conistent and satisfactory experience, especially when a character finds a way out of a seemingly inescapable situation in a way that makes perfect sense, but you as a reader have never even thought of.

Attached: 1552910226634.jpg (1080x1331, 216K)

it would be foolish for him to not keep writting and drawing jojo, besides, he can stop at any time but he chooses to keep drawing jojo because he genuinely seems to enjoy doing it.
and it's not like he hasn't done manga outside of jojo, he's done plenty before, i think a few years ago he did a one-shot that had nothing to do with jojo

Attached: passione bois.jpg (1000x991, 102K)

>imagine reading jojo for the fights like a total autist

Attached: 65654656.png (1520x1080, 1.36M)

yeah i read it for the cute boys

Attached: D1uB8v6UgAAvRgX.jpg (1200x772, 108K)

7 and 8 sound like something i should check. i'm interested to see this more mature side of his stories
yeah i agree with the fact that the fights are much more interesting than any other shounen, not so much about the "makes perfect sense" part but the asspulls are somewhat entertaining on their own so i suppose it's fine

No one thinks your smart or superior for pointing out plotholes or inconsistencies. Fans are aware of them, but overlook them since many shonen suffer from the same issues and the cool fights more than make up for any story issues.

ok user but please don't skip parts, i know part 6 is kinda shitty in the middle but it does pay off, trust me

Attached: 1552035127250.jpg (1145x1457, 135K)

Even with the parts being related they're completely new stories with completely new stories for the most part. Especially parts 7 and 8. Stands are really the only thing carried over and it would be silly to drop that concept because it's a goldmine for being able to come up with pretty much any power you want characters to have while already having a framework for them. At the very most parts 6 and before I could see the argument for milking but not for parts 7 and 8. Having the same name I don't think is a big enough thing to consider it milking and I don't see how calling it something different would make much of a difference. Steel Ball Run doesn't even have "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure" written on its volume covers even if it was called that in other places.

>great characters
>Diavolo

Attached: 9977.jpg (125x122, 3K)

go watch the anime for part 5 it's fun

continuing part 5 from where i last left off sounds like a pain desu but if it pays off why not

>interesting motivation
>interesting personality
>depth to the themes of his character
>cool as fuck stand
>cool as fuck fights
>cool as fuck design
what's your favourite part so i can laugh at your taste user?

Attached: l3kwldszkfl21.jpg (572x768, 87K)

i bet you were one of the people who claimed part 5 was boring only because of a shitty translation only for everyone to be able to call you out on your shit once the anime hit

All of those are lies. Diavolo is one of the shittiest villains in the series. He's only held up by Doppio existing.

>completely new stories with completely new stories
oof
>it would be silly to drop that concept because it's a goldmine for being able to come up with pretty much any power you want characters to have while already having a framework for them.
the problem with stands is that the framework you told about feels loose at times about consistency but other than that i don't think i completely dislike stands

If you actually read the part then you know it's true.

The only good thing about Diavolo is his stand which he doesn't deserve because he's simply too cool for him. Part 5 is trash. The worst protagonist and the worst antagonist. 7 is my favourite.

not that guy, but im really loving part 5 , not my favorite part, but still is very good.

Wrong. Diavolo presents himself as an unstoppable force of nature as he claims to be a "servant" of fate. In reality he was just prolonging his own fate instead of accepting it, which is the opposite of what the main cast did. To say that he is the worst villain is a brainlet opinion.

? your post makes no sense, i'm praising part 5, not shitting on it
are you counting doppio as a separate entity from diavolo instead of a part of his character? because that's dumb and there's no reason to do that

>DUDE IT'S ABOUT DESTINY IT'S DEEP, GOOD VILLAIN XD

shame that we share part 7 as our favourite despite your taste being so shitty

we as an audience may never know araki, but even if he is completely omnicient in his own story you can feel a distinctive sense that comes from his work that feels so unique that the only thing you can associate it with is his name, and that is because he is a man that strived to make a good story for himself, or better said, for his own standards... creating an interesting phylosophy about storytelling, based on making impactful moments, some referencing, artstyle, everything gets changed. it is a unique experience... for us as an audience is akin to finding an aged alcoholic beverage comming from a weird unknown civilization for a taster.

>"a good villian shouldn't have ideals and themes behind them o_O...they should just...do evil for evil sake"
t.brainlet

I can't stand retards who pretend part 5 is good just because the anime got somewhat "popular" and it's "hipsterish" to shit on it. Go bury yourself somewhere, sheep.

>o_O
Kys already.

Why do people get so mad at Part 5? The people in this thread dismiss so much of the fun shit that they end up looking like spoiled children.

this user gets it, manga where the author writes based on his ideals and views of the world to create a story instead of just doing what's popular or what his editors want him to do are genuinely great
pic related

Attached: images.jpg (300x168, 14K)

the real answer is that hating part 5 is a meme that has existed for a very long time because for years part 5 had easily the shittiest scans of any part with nearly unreadable translations which led a lot of people to have a bad experience reading part 5

Attached: 1551752896655.jpg (1920x1080, 742K)

If he kills himself he should take you with him.

Attached: HighwayToHell_stats.png (780x1200, 375K)

just ignore those people, they can get on people having fun over other parts.
part 5 is not even in my top 3 favorite parts, and im having a great time watching the anime.

>so much of the fun shit
Well, accept the fact that it's not fun for everyone. For me it was boring fot he most part, and the humor was non existent, Mista 2-3 had funny moments and that's all.

>i-it's all the meme bad scans and translation!
The proper transaltion was out before the anime aired, yet people started to praise part 5 only after the anime. Let's don't pretend like the majority of new part 5 fans aren't retards who simply like something just because they saw it in motion and with sound, they're sakugafags etc.

I think one of the weaknesses of jojos is also one of its biggest strengths. From part to part the entire genre and type of story can shift dramatically, from a classic story of good vs evil in the form of a sun warrior and a Gothic vampire, to a Aztec bodybuilding gods fighting the world's greatest trickster, jojos changes a lot and that can expose some of Araki's weaknesses at writing certain types of plot lines and characters, most notably the "araki forgot or changed his mind" which can be to the story's detriment when Araki tries to foreshadow and set things ups only to forgot and/or not follow through, the whole josuke saving his past self in the storm comes to mind as an example, or a character literally getting gender swapped in stone ocean. But I would also say this is one of jojos biggest strengths, the diversity in types of stories and characters means that there's almost guaranteed to be a part that you'll love ad many characters who you can be invested in. I would also say this also allows to be creatively free in chasing whatever wacky ideas he can come with, testing what works and what doesn't until finally synthesizing all that he learned into his magnum opus, SBR. I think it's fitting that it took the entire first universe of jojos, constantly telling new stories, new ways of battling and power sets, character dynamics, and much more until he finally was able to hammer out exactly the kind of style he wanted and to perfect it. It also allowed him the creative freedom to reuse characters, settings, and ideas in new ways with his newly improved style without things seeming like he's just rehashing shit.

You should really read Araki's book on manga, he goes into a lot more detail. I do want to point out that people underestimate how old jojos is, and that retrospectives can alter your view of the quality of the work in possibly unfair ways. Many people look at highly influential work like basically anything by Shakespeare and call it full of cliches, but those writing devices only became cliches because he invented and/or popularized them, I'd same the same is true for jojos, its originality paved the way for many other types of battle manga, including hunter x hunter, so given that in many respects certain story elements were among the first of their kind I tend to give jojos a pass on them, some times at least. I mean, really, jojos is a story that's been going on for well over 30 years. Really think about that. It's actually pretty astonishing considering how many other long running stories have completely jumped the shark, dramatically reduced the story and art quality, or just petered out of existence. And yet jojos has stood the test of time by being willing to reinvent itself and in many respects Araki has actually improved significantly over the years. A testament to this is not only the longevity and popularity of the series, but the fact that you can take stories that are over two decades old, bring them to the modern landscape, and have them still be fresh, unique, and engaging. That's really hard to do, and at least to me, some indication that it will stand the test of time much better than most other manga.

some of the answers here are giving me a completely new perspective on the subject. while i still do think jojo's is a mediocre show with some really good aspects and some really bad aspects i now realize that it was able to keep its good parts throughout the years and capitalize on them. some parts still annoy me but i'm willing to give jojo's a second shot after reading all the responses

>its originality paved the way for many other types of battle manga, including hunter x hunter,
Jojo was never nearly as influential as DB or HNK, and in the case of certain abilities, even fucking Doraemon.

Becuase it's so unique.
It's refreshing to see a writer just do whatever the fuck he wants and thinks is cool.
There's no other series with writing like Araki's. They all fall into the same tropes and cliches.

this is straight up false, by the time part 4 anime aired all manga parts had gotten retranslated EXCEPT part 5
i saw a ton of anons hate part 5 YEARS before part 5 anime aired, hell, i saw them before part 3 anime even aired, in every single thread people said to skip part 5 and just go to 6 because it's "filler"

don't come and tell me people started to hate part 5 because of the anime because that's just fucking bullshit

Attached: 13119108_1014899378558130_3669075125683088248_n.jpg (795x864, 45K)

>Jojo was never nearly as influential as DB or HNK, and in the case of certain abilities, even fucking Doraemon.
Just because it's not as influential as Doraemon or HNK (which did inspire jojos) doesn't mean it's not influential, and that example of hunter x hunter stands, Togashi has literally stated this and it's apparent if you've read the succession arc. Not saying hxh is a jojos clone, that can't be further from the truth, but the point stands.

> From part to part the entire genre and type of story can shift dramatically
i think this is one of it's biggest strenghts, reading/watching jojo for the first time it's great because you don't know what you're into when you read a new part, you don't get this type of shit in any other media, most sequels or follow ups to a work are just rehashing the same shit with the same themes and genres because if it worked the first time it'll probably work the second time, but araki isn't afraid to change things up
oh you enjoyed the adventures at egypt? fuck you now we're following a serial killer in japan oh and we're going to italy next, it's fucking great

Very ignorant post. JoJo has been massively influential through all sorts of entertainment through Japan. Including video games.

i think it's interesting because of the powers and ideas he develops.

There's always super powerful things or whatever, but they always have some clear limits that are defined. Sure, he's a little loose with some stuff, but this comic is a beautiful exercise in creativity.

One of my favourite quotes on creativity is this scene from King of the Hill:

Teacher to Hank:Talk to us about your creative process.
Hank:Well, I just took your materials and tools and the time allotted, and this is what I came up with. There was nothing creative about it.
Teacher: You, you, you and you, have all met the daily quotas and are dismissed.
Hank, you are dismissed with extreme admiration.

It's a fun manga with cool fights, power levels, twists which make you go NANI and Yea Forums to meme.
do you hate fun?

I mean, he's on Yea Forums, so...

it's quite simple really user

>Every Season has a different location and style
part 1 is castlevania
part 2 indiana jones
part 3 a journey across the world
part 4 is a murder mistery
part 5 gayest gangsters
part 6 is a prision escape
part 7 cowboy race with jesus
>music references just because why the fuck not, it's stupid but fun to see wich stand has the name of your favorite band

While I do appreciate the post, the Lads amity is superior to either the chad or virgin separately.

Jojo is like a perpetuos jump of the shark. Araki can get away with some idiotic shit that would totally destroy che credibility of any other manga from any other autor.

But you accept it because it's Jojo, and thats the point, it just works! Except is broken

>Plot
>Battle shounen
Next you'll ask why people go watch capeshit at the theater

stop skipping parts fag there's literally a part for every anime demographic

yes you fucking did

what the fuck is going on in part 8? does araki even know

For me it's Jojo fight structure. Most anime I'd describe their fights like a sports match. Most of the time they use quick wits, and superior physical attributes to get the victory. But Jojo is more like a weird chess match or something. It's less about seeing how the main character is gonna power up and use willpower to defeat his opponent. And more about seeing what sort of herculean leaps in logic that the characters are going to make in order to secure the victory. The powersets simply require more than "I'm stronger than you". It's "I'm stronger than you, but you're too far for me to hit so I had to punch this fire hydrant so that the stream of water will jettison me towards them so they'd be in my effective range so I can punch him 100 times and win the fight." That aspect of it is pretty enjoyable.

watching jojo doesnt make you a unique or witty person

>it's the most effortless excuse for printing as many stands as possible
lol what?

While Jojo certainly didn't have the popularity of Dragon Ball, for example, it's undeniable that it influenced a lot of creators. Castlevania wouldn't even exist (or would be a radically different game) if not for Jojo. Also, it outlasted Dragon Ball without getting stale (well, now they revived it with Super, but they're not even trying).

>it's the most effortless excuse for printing as many stands as possible

Actually, the lenghts that Araki has to go to merely explain why every weirdo in the world got his hands on an arrow make me wish that he had just elaborated on Part 3 explanation (people with strong will can get stands, assholes ussually get stands because they have a will to fight, Enya and Avdol hinted at some mystic reason for the existence of stands, and even the fact that Dio got a stand after meeting Enya hinted at her knowing something about getting stands). The arrows really cheapened the mysticism and mystery around stands, Enya going from a wise old witch to some old lady that bought arrows from an Italian weirdo that stole them from a tomb really cheapens them. A weird rock formation that moves through the desert and can either kill you or give you a stand was kinda better, and it hinted at other places with similar properties scattered around the world, even if eventually it was all because Jesus said so.

>Because we have good taste and you don't, OP.
Basically this.

Because it's cool. And you're still trying to shit on it because your childish perception evidently still only sees stupid things that other people like for some reason, and you have no capacity to explore why they might like it instead of just presenting reasons why it's bad and they're stupid.

>for the first time in my life

You sad, sad little man, I genuinely feel for you

> Asspull-filled battles that are actually fun
> Protagonists not being pussies
> Unpredictable development

>so ridiculous it's ridiculously good
>very bizarre
>laugh my ass off
>eye candy
>gay
>distinctive style
>memes
Overall it's really how bizarre and ridiculous it is that makes the series. But I understand why someone wouldn't like JoJo though. I didn't either.

>do you like stuff like pokemon and ygo
no... i don't see the similarity... just because they're all action genre? jojo is a lot more gorey and gay too compared to those

> so basically, JOJO works, it just works
I see now. Wait, I don't.
> the fights
This is something that several people mentioned. Any examples of those "cool fights"? Never seen anything jojo related even remotely impressive in that aspect.
> the concept, the style
The first is alright, the second is too gay for me but then Yea Forums like traps and whatever so it's understandable that jojo has a large fanbase.

read the thread dumbass
i was genuinely curious over why people liked it so much and i did get a lot of nice and meaningful answers. from the beginning i never intended to insult the series and all i did was point out some of the flaws and things i personally weren't interested in
by the ygo and pokemon question i meant if jojo fans were also interested in other series that were similar in how they develop character introduction and this battle oriented story. i don't think they're all that similar but there are just some similarities that made me curious

Only part 6(maybe 8 too) is masterpiece other parts are just fun to watch/read

You watched all 5 seasons, sure. And if you're basing your opinion of 1-2 like most shit eating normies then go for it. Just know you're ugly and nice bait ;)

i enjoyed 1,2,3 and some of 4 as well. part 5 from what i watched was really boring for me. i'm not calling the whole series shit i just don't think it's a masterpiece. pointing out the flaws even fans accept isn't bait

I am reading part 6 right now. Very enjoyable so far, Limp Bizkit. Not sure why it gets such a bad wrap.

Thats because you arent at the really bad fights yet.

Why I like it:
> The manga art is amazing
> Fights are unpredictable
> Stand concepts are always fresh
> Even at a disadvantage, characters always find a way of using their stand abilities in innovative and non-obvious ways to counter their foes
> Characters risk their lives and physical integrity in order to win
> The ridiculous expressions and poses
> A lot of main characters actually die

What I don't like:
> Characters go from playing 4D Chess to being clueless when it fits the story
> Anime art can be horrendous at times.
> Healing stands remove some of the tension
> Part 5's ending has to be the biggest asspull Araki ever made

The fights get bad? Surprising, I have really liked the fights so far. Jumping Jack Flash vs Weather Report was a blast.

>Not sure why it gets such a bad wrap.
I guess it's because of the ending. People don't like different things.

ITT OP replies to every post to save face on his shit opinion acquired through reading dollar store breakdowns of Jojo and things Araki forgot about

Yes theres 3 bad-mediocre fights in a row after the planet waves fight (which is great btw).

Ok. I'll brace myself for it. Fights have been good so far. I like the powers and also particularly like the stand designs this part.

>> Part 5's ending has to be the biggest asspull Araki ever made
How so?

josuke's stand did remove most of the tension for me since some of the enjoyment in earlier parts came from not knowing when a character might just die on the spot but i suppose bites the dust was specifically made to counter that so it was still somewhat enjoyable
because trying to share opinions and conversate is saving face on my shit opinion. if you actually read the replies you'd see i don't fucking hate the thing

GER having the exact stand power that would counter KC? I understand how the Requiem arrow works and why it's thematically sound with FATE and all that stuff. But come on, that's just bullshit.

it's close

Yeah, I remember Joseph losing his hand and thinking oh shit, he's handless forever now, this is intense.
Giorno and Josuke would just fix that, but Joseph had to live with the consequences of his decisions forever.

I enjoy it, and you don't. That's ok, people have different opinions on things.

What consequence? Literally in the very next part he had a perfectly functional robotic hand courtesy of Naxi Germany.

Because having to use prosthetics is so great, right?

Because Part 5 has an anime so shiteaters that originally said it sucked are now shifting that to part 6. When part 6 gets an anime people will say that part 7 sucks.

Part 3 has some of the most bland stand fights in the series, and if you think the stands get "more ridiculous" later then you missed the appeal of jojo.

When it's a prosthetic that in every way that matters functions as an actual hand then yes. Yes it is pretty great. It's not a real life prosthetic that mimics the looks of a hand but can't do any of the functions, it is a high-tech fingers bend, full motion prosthetic. So yeah, it's pretty great.

The whole last stretch of Part 5 revolved around the very explicit idea that "whoever gets the arrow wins". That Giorno got the arrow and subsequently won is not an asspull.

What difference does it make? It's expected in any battle manga that most relevant characters will have that series' staple power. The arrow isn't even the only way people get stands.

>yet people started to praise part 5 only after the anime
Part 5 was always the most popular one in Japan.

How is starting out fresh with a new cast of characters when the previous character's stories are done milking it?
Milking it would be the shit dbz does, making more unnecessary stories way past the point where the characters have stopped growing.

i suppose the question "why do you guys like jojo?" sounded like i was bashing it but i genuinely wanted to hear people's opinions and i did get some nice answers
he has to use gloves to hide them for the rest of his life
part 3s fights felt less like asspulls compared to what i've seen in 4-5 and i suppose having them less interesting is the price you pay for more believable fights
the way they introduced the arrow made it feel like literally everyone got stands just from the arrows even the people in part 3

The increase in 5's positive reception started with the updated translation.

Thought that was 4.

Sure, but it just feels like Araki got himself into a corner he couldn't figure out a way of getting out with what he had previously established and just said "fuck it, next goal wins the match" or like you said "fuck it, whoever gets the arrow gets a new very specific power and wins"

Part 3 is the best stand part

Jojo is a masterpiece of fun, that's why.
There's no series like this, and I find your comparison to pokemon or ygh reductive and quite insulting. No series has so many over the top characters, lines, situations, power whatever or so many iconic, sad or hype moments. This series is designed to give feels.

You seem to be some plotfag who thinks the plot is all there is to a manga, but Araki doesn't abide by any standard, he does his own things with his own style. I don't think anyone is blind to the series' faults, but it's ultimately one of the most earnest manga when it comes to telling a story and entertain the reader.

>Araki got himself into a corner he couldn't figure out a way of getting out with what he had previously established
The thing that gets me about the ending is that that isn't true. Giorno's reflect damage power and later make parts of himself seemed like a build up to King Crimson seeing himself demolish Giorno then proceeding, only then Giorno steps out and says that was just a created living duplicate. Then all the damage reflects back and King Crimson accidentally kills himself. Everything seemed like it could go that way but then became, get the arrow and win.

masterpiece of fun is a nice way to explain it. i only asked the pokemon and ygo question because i find the pacing and maybe some other aspects that i don't think i can specifically name to be similar to jojo's and wanted to see if jojo fans are also interested in those. i didn't mean to compare them.
>plotfag
no i do enjoy the fights but overall consistency in plot feels needed at times

Jojo is just really fucking unique. It's clear that Araki makes shit up as he goes, but there's genuine passion and heart in the series. He does things he wants, forgets plotpoints, and even drops a character because he "didn't want soo see Bruno react to the betrayal". It's a completely unique way to write a story and it gives the series its own, irreplicable style. It's making you willing to accept all of the bullshit throughout the series because it doesn't matter. The series feels really good and that's all you need to feel invested. That said, it's not for everyone and the few people denying that jojo has a bunch of flaws are retarded, but almost every fan knows all about its flaws and doesn't give a fuck. That's why you can't trigger jojofags by saying "it's shit" or "it's gay" because both of those statements are somewhat true

>oh no
He wears gloves anyway

your underage is showing, OP

Jojo has cohesive characters, character arcs, and character motivations. Even if the series has asspulls, it never shits on caracterization for the sake of convenience and is usually creative in both the creation and the resolution of conflicts. Those qualities are both what make people forgive the weaknesses of the material and what really makes the series great imo. I'm a plotfag but I still love Jojo for those reasons.

there his favorite things because he wants super powers and they're the super power macguffin of the series
he's also just autistic

fair enough. still though, having a robotic arm is a consequence and he can't go back to having his own limb and that's the tiny bit of difference to make it more exciting than part 4 (not to mention josuke can heal fatal wounds)
of course i don't have any problems with the people who just enjoy the unique aspects and accept the flaws but the people who claim it's a masterpiece with no flaws are so vocal it feels like they're the majority

the fact that there's embarrassing namefag going around playing mediator with bandwagon shounenshits proves the series is beyond hope post-anime
I guess its a good thing part 8 filters those faggots anyway

>but the people who claim it's a masterpiece with no flaws are so vocal it feels like they're the majority
Seen maybe 5 of them and they get shut down pretty quickly. Are you sure we're still talking about jojo and not HxH?

he's a brain-dead shitposter

maybe my fault for thinking they're that type every time a jojo fan feels insulted about anything negative you point out. idk at this point honestly, there was some real nice discussion in this thread that made me want to get into jojo's again then there are the faggots who just assume i'm blindly insulting their favorite show for some reason. i'm tired i'll just fuck off to bed, you people have a comfy day

unrelated but why isnt 4chanX not working

Just like any Yea Forums thread then, isn't it?

>comfy
>stop being mean to me...
Jojo is beyond dead with retards like this posting

Because even if it doesn't make sense and it's literally just asspulling, the fights are engaged and resolved via quick wits and seemingly random outcomes. It means you can never pin down how a fight is actually going to play out which makes it more exciting.

>he didnt read part 5

christ, read the entire series before bashing it. the arrows are a thing for a reason

why would you do that when you can just make retarded posts anonymously, have people spoon-feed you, and then shitpost in response while tucking the info under your belt?

He comes up with fun situations for his fights. Donald duck author don rosa had a few stories which felt very similar: donald and scrooge are cursed to lose their knowledge of anything named ("door" "wtf uncle scrooge she just walked through the wall"), a villain gains a suit of armor painted in a substance which disintegrates everything except diamond, and donald and scrooge gets cursed with sideways gravity. Araki always hits us with situations like this, and that a american adventure cartoonist independently came up with the same concept as c moon and treats it with the same creativity tells us something about arakis style.

Bro just read up to SBR, The second half of Stone Ocean is good, SBR is overall the best, and JoJolion has mystery and is shaping up to be the best. Each part has something different but all are good. Btw mista, giorno, and narancia die.

GER could beat every stand in the series, it's not just KC

switching to seinen is the best thing Jojo has done, filtering out the readers with bad taste

Joshuchads rise up

His last two parts have been a major improvement in Arakis writing and storytelling skills. I feel like with his earlier parts he opened up pathways to amazing storyline’s, made a lot of potentional for brilliant twists and turns, but then forgot or didn’t see what he has. I feel he can actually see these with his newer parts so I’m looking forward to see what he does,

Anyone has the image of character tier list?
