There's no telling how deep Aechmea's keikaku might go but Ichikawa doesn't seem the type to have characters make excruicatingly elaborate plans. Maybe Aechmea painstakingly plots out the best method to manipulate each gem before they get on the moon, seeing as they don't have much else to do.

I couldn't shake off the idea that that Kongo-sensei and Phos' connection ran deeper than one could initially notice so I tried compiling what could amount to a decent amount of evidence for it.
First of all, there are Sensei's dreams. We only see glimpses of them when we wakes up, we don't even know whether they're something he has often or they're a sparse occurrance: still, the ones we see seem to be pretty relevant to the plot and suspiciously resonating with Phos' circumstances.
Sure it could be mere coincidence that as Phos gets dissolved in 'water', Kongo as well dreams of dissolving all things in water. It's interesting how Sensei doesn't seem to fully realize how momentous Phos being dissolved and reformed is; the threads have discussed about the four types of birth and how Phos was effectively 'reborn by transformation', but his newfound understanding of all things water applies to ice floes too. Sensei's 'real' name (Jizou-Bosatsu, the Japanese translation of the Sanskrit Kṣitigarbha) is that of the bodhisattva who's specifically associated with the "salvation" of those finding themselves in the hell realm(s), which in the manga seem to be correlated to the ice floes and the concretions of non-sapient human inclusions found in water. Sensei is shown as fully aware of what those might be, but if anything advises Phos against them: Phos can fully understand their voice and instead makes them an offering of sorts -gaining the uncanny ability to be consoled and upheld by them, as a passing observation in ch44 tells us.

Another thing I don't really know how to consider if the parallel that happens over the Antarc battle between Kongo getting fully trapped by the Lunarians (they immobilize his body in full, only leaving his head out of it) and Phos who more or less has the same experience in the gold/platinum cube. Both ultimately escape using their hands, although at the cost of breaking themselves a bit. Both's means of escaping are too late to save Antarcticite (rip best boy). However, their failings leave the both of them in very different places: Kongo feels like this is another of his personal shortcomings, Phos has gotten sensibly stronger and motivated to get Antarc back.
Also, it might be Ichikawa just deciding that the ice floes wouldn't work visually on the back inner cover -which is where antagonists usually end up, in the autistic division of the covers- but there's the faint suggestion that the way Phos' arms were taken is reminding of the Lunarians' ways, creating a further connection between Phos and Sensei's entrapments.

The matter of how much Sensei is aware of Phos' special role (at least before he comes back from the moon) and the way he's traveling a journey no gem has before him is tricky though. I couldn't say we have a clear understanding of how the freedom he leaves all gems with must be interpreted, even if we've heard Aechmea's own reasoning.
Is he not interfering with Phos on purpose? Is he not realizing what's going on? Is Kongo's subconscious more awake then his conscious mind is?
Still there are some hints that might be read as Sensei singling Phos out of the rest to address her fears and suspicions to acknowledge them. It could be that at one point he leaves Phos free rein in order to see what could come of that, like the dialogue after the Professor reveal and the one after she talked to Variegatus.

Anyway my initial point was about Sensei's dreams: these are the panels from the only other times we see him wake up from a dream. All the dreams have lotus petals in them, which is the most obvious way of signaling a connection to enlightenment or at least the pursue of it like the moonies do.
The top panel happens concurrently with Phos being "kidnapped", the bottom one happens when the gems leave for the moon.
The panels could just be there to have the action start from Sensei's room, yet there's the strange iteration for a similar happpening added to the fact that it's the only cases when a chapter opens like that. The first one even seems to have the petals arranged in a way they look like a single petal forming an arc: since it's a static panel, one could argue that it's unclear whether the arc is going up or down. Could this be a visual sign that Sensei is sensing that Phos has "ascended" in a sense?
The reason why I think that Sensei might be specially attuned to Phos after all is that Kongo carries the name of a bodhisattva, while Phos's arc is basically about becoming a bodhisattva, specifically carrying the signs of Maitreya. Now Phos being the 28th gem when there's only 27 of them alive at the start of the manga might be a further indication of this: since the gems' number is a reference to the 28 known Buddhas (with the Buddha Gautama being the 28th and the 'Buddha of our time' where Maitreya is the Buddha yet to come, the 28+1 in a sense) Phos counting as the 'last gem' and the 'gem yet to come' after his eventual enlightenment is symbolic of this. Maitreya is said to come at the time when the correct preaching has vanished and all things are dire to usher the end times: it's interesting to note that this messianic belief has historically led to rebellions and political turmoil (you know all those movies with fighting Chinese monks set in the modern age? most of those were Maitreya believers who wanted to overturn the 'foreign' ruling dinasty).

Also, there's something else that came up while I was autistically researching the Phos-Sensei connection that I hadn't seen anyone else point out so far.
Whenever Sensei's shown to be meditating/sleeping, he always rests his left hand over the right one. Now one might think this is a generic meditation pose, but there might be something deeper and even a visual clue to take.
What the position is immediately reminding of is called the Dhyanamudrā: that is the mudrā (physical gesture incarnating a spiritual truth, the same you do in yoga) that you actually see in many Buddhistic statues, especially the ones representing the Buddha Amitabha himself.
Now the dhyanamudrā is formed with the RIGHT hand over the left one, to signify that the truth of enlightenment (right) trumps the illusions of the world (left). Why would Sensei consistently do the reverse then?
Is that Ichikawa's in-joke to tell us he's not really meditating, but only taking a nap? Is it symbolic of his visions and dreams of lotus and enlightenment being fake after all? Does it tell us that he sees himself as undeserving and as a true bodhisattva, therefore subject to the world of illusions he created for the gems himself? Is Ichikawa even a real person?
Bonus for extra autism: the legs position Sensei usually meditates in is called the adamantine position and he sleeps in a diamond-like octagon (I don't think I have to explain the octagon relevance in Buddhism).

Another thing that could be boiled down to "Phos is the MC you autist" or maybe not: the only times we see Sensei about to pray outside of dreams is when he reacts to Phos' sufferings.
We still don't know if this is Sensei "wanting to pray but being unable to" or "being tempted to pray but deciding not to" since both positions have been argued, but nevertheless it's only after Phos' nervous breakdown and her being taken to the moon that we see that. Not after Antarc, not after Ghost.
Is Sensei particularly sensitive to his "kind child" 's undeserved sufferings or would he want to spare Phos specifically for some reason?

The mudra being reversed definitely has to be intentional seeing as it's completely consistent with each one of Sensei's appearances. I more or less agree with you -seeing as reading #65 Adamant knows he's broken and seems to be fully aware of his own flaws, even painfully so. It could be that Ichikawa is writing Sensei's interpretation of the his role as one who stayed behind, which is in fact an integral part of what makes a bodhisattva: the willingness not to reach nirvana (despite being fully able to) until he's brought others to the light. Aechmea's and Sensei's words actually seem to coincide on that -humans made a machine to stay behind after their passing.
This is another parallel with Phos: Kongo feels obliged to conform to his programming in looking back at humanity, where Phos brings out the new and is going to be a representative for humanity in the future, being the bodhisattva who both creates and ushers in a new age. Kongo cannot produce the change but can in fact recognize it when it happens in Phos.
Sensei explained it to her when the winter changed to spring. He's the one who officially recognizes LaPhos as Phos when everyone feared he wouldn't wake up as herself. And he's the one who certifies that the “Phos-y thing” is in fact Phos, regardless of how you read the scene.
It's particularly significant because Phos is the only one who can even undergo such a recognition: the gems' names are barely real “names” as they merely reflect the material they're made of. Phos evolves from that and his becomes a “human” name, staying behind through the impermanence of existence. Thus Sensei is the carrier of moments of recognition (a master scholar would say anagnorisis) and it comes as no surprise that Phos' identity issues suddenly bursted out in chapter 72 because he couldn't see Sensei.

The way people usually read it is “Phos has the human particle unlocking Adamant's programming which is why he's so unfazed”. That he talks freely about his origin indeed seems to suggest so, but I think Ichikawa kept it as ambiguous as she could, at least here.
Sensei later refers to Phos (#64, #72) in ways that imply he sees her as a changed being, but this scene can read okay without the need to think him under the spell of the human particle: after all we know he can say 'ningen', he just avoids it as much as he can, and resorts to linguistic technicalities to dodge questions. Phos luckily asks a question formulated as an inquiry about the truth of a statement, so I don't think that Kongo could or would've lied about that -and “I don't know” is out of the picture.
Maybe the dialogue makes the most sense if we take into consideration the moonies' plan of making a human and/or a Sensei-like creature: rather than keep on failing, that's the identity Aechmea superimposed onto Phos (the outfit, the pearl eye, possibly the particle) to use him to create his desired outcome. It'd make sense for Phos to be unable to understand that too: if we maintain the chapters 57-76 as his arc as a failed bodhisattva, here's where she fails to confront Sensei as a peer because she can't even fully understand her new role (yet she doesn't seem bothered by him “not caring”, since she's already over Sensei's role as a protective figure).

Thank you. Today I had to do household chores and as you can see I chose to kill time by rereading the parts of the manga with Sensei with the intention of applying the frame that was discussed last thread.
I think the idea of the moon arc being Phos' journey as a bodhisattva and his failure at that works a lot because it allows to explain both the catastrophic series of events and the fact that we've witnessed the biggest change in the houseki universe ever.
So on one hand, Phos committed a grave sin of hybris in thinking he was already enlightened, fell prey to Aechmea's plans and lost everything after playing the role of the antagonist -but on the other he actually is the closest to a human being and single-handledly revolutionised everyone's destinies.
Since Ichikawa usually mixes Mahāyāna and Theravāda, I'd say it's entirely likely that Sensei revealing his full name as a bodhisattva as he steps down is symbolic of him saying he's not the Buddha of his age anymore as another is going to rise soon: that the Earth gems number 16 would then be a reference to the sixteen Arhats who keep the faith and wait for Maitreya to manifest himself. If so, for all his failures Phos has effectively opened the "end times", with the gem reorganization being a real new beginning and not just "hurr Euclase hates change" -I think pic related is pointing in that direction.
All of this wouldn't mean the manga is ending soon either, if we go by the pottery of Phos' journey spanning 108 years (with the six years he'd be awake because of the 102 years' sleep corresponding to the 6 years it took the Shakyamuni to become the Buddha) it might mean we have four in-universe years of story in front of us

Honestly? The most logic thing would be she got there by "25 - x = 16", but I didn't think of researching that. I've mentioned in a post that made it to the compilation in this very thread's OP that Phos mentions an ideal number of ten gems and does indeed "preach his gospel" to ten gems. If we wanted to reach further, the historical Buddha was said to have gained the following of the bhadravargīya, the "five first excellent disciples", with the gems who follow Phos on the moon of their volition after hearing his stories number five (Yellow, >Benito, Dia, Aleki. 84, while Craig was forced, Parappa was unconscious and nuGoshe tagged along). I think it's pure coincidence though, as the 16 arhats and their connection to Maitreya seem to be more in line with actual references made in the manga.

I honestly have no idea, I've always found more fun to read into what's already there than speculate about what's to come.
The only hints I think we might be actually supposed to take are that the Sea Arc™ being the time when Phos reaches enlightenment, realizes his role as a saviour (think things will go south in slug society maybe) but eventually decides he has to go back to the gems rather than enjoying peace. That's what being a bodhisattva is about, and water in the manga has a very strong correlation with birth, rebirth and purification (we've also never seen Sensei go into the water, only stand by the beach water's edge)
The second thing is about the title again: following the link to the idea of Amitabha's Pure Land, so far we've seen how the Earth was made into the Houseki no kuni (refer to ) and the Lunarians tried to make the moon into that (first by grinding, now with resident gems and the reviving).
What's to say that the sea will not be a houseki no kuni too in some sense? After all Sensei said all way back then that seashells are in fact "houseki". So expect suggestions of the sea as a tentative but failed houseki no kuni too in order to make way to Phos as the real (literal and metaphorical) houseki no kuni.

Where are you taking this from? Phos thought to himself that the gems would in fact think he had been manipulated which is why he pretends to be forgetful and only talks in insinuation, except when he finally goes to Shinsha he explains his whole plan, the truth about Sensei and what moonies want from him in logical terms. We've shown that he's the only one he does this talk with and there's absolutely nothing later to suggest that Shinsha believes that Phos had been lying or was just a moon puppet.
If anything, he holds him fully accountable for his words and denounces their cruel intention, going as far as attacking Phos precisely because he willingly chose to associate with the moon to attack Sensei, while the gems he meets in chapter 69 don't really seem to realize what happened to him. That's why I said that realizing that Phos had been manipulating could maybe change his mind.
You're allowed to dislike fictional characters as much as you want but intentionally creating headcanons to hate them feels just petty, really

With all the talk that goes on in these threads about how Aechmea is clearly lying or at least withholding the truth, you don't think the gems on Earth might not be thinking along similar lines that the lunarians are not being true with what they say their intentions are in order to manipulate Phos? The Earth gems don't know Aechmea exists and can't confirm much, just that Sensei isn't like them and that the lunarians want something from him, it's a natural line of thinking to take given what they know is true for certain.

Well, it's true that the gems only rightfully know the moonies as those cruel fuckers who relentlessly hunt, shatter and abduct them. But they know so little that they can't even form a proper understanding about Phos's real intentions except forming it from the way they see Phos.
So the average gem probably can't even fathom why Phos would align with the moon; the ones who were "tempted" feel disappointed and sad; Euclase realized Phos is now a representative for the moon and tries to undermine that; and then there's Shinsha (well, maybe Bortz too) who were talked to heart by Phos and intends to hold him responsible for his actions because he can't justify them.
