Nothing. It's a fine retelling of an old japanese neo-folk story. Stop being such a drag about everything AND also nothing Yea Forums.

Despite the effort to try to turn it more into a serious show, the source material just isn't anything special in this day and age. The setting doesn't allow for a lot of fresh stories we haven't already seen so without a distinct style or stellar production values (which are still the best compared to every other anime this season aside from Mob tho) it's not that exciting. I still enjoy it but the inconsistent action is disappointing and having to waste a lot of episodes for Hyakkimaru to become an interesting person aside from the premise feels frustrating.

inb4 it's just Steins;Gate 2.0 where all the anime-only fags shit on the show for a majority of the time until some shit starts happening and then after all is said and done the same people are like "oh it just starts out slow but it gets real good" when the series is over.

at least Steins;Gate had source material from which the anime was faithfully following for the most part. Dororo is kind of doing its own thing at this point.

This is a strong point btw. I feel like most adaptations suffer because they stick to closely to the source material, hence they don't make full use of the tools afforded to them by tv or end up having odd pacing.

Because Dororo is so loose on following its source material, no one knows when the hype is going to happen, hence why we get more people taking a fat shit on the show when it's entering its slow points.

That is why the Pluto adaption will save anime.

I disagree. Yes most every episode is (on the surface) about a fighting a new monster BUT that is not what makes it interesting. Each episode further develops a character, giving us more insight into the kind of person they are. I dont watch to see hyakimaru kick ass, i watch because I want to see what kind of person he'll become

It's been a year and 9 months since that reveal and still no news.

This. I dropped it eight episodes in because it absolutely gave up on the charm of the original just to seem more mature and dark, but it's not working. It ended up as an emotional black hole for me and the fact that it's going to be 24 episodes long isn't help either. The filler is lifeless and Dororo's voice is annoying.

I think what caused the recent complaining is it wasn't formulaic enough. With these episodic monster of the week shows, people have certain expectations, so when one episode is full of flashbacks and another focuses on some brother no one cares about, they tend to be bored because this isn't what they signed up or. I personally thought the latest episode felt like filler.
