What are your thoughts on CLAMP? Got a favorite series? Something you want to see adapted? Something you dislike...

They're dead to me ever since they decided to drop all their ongoing series (including the new original one) and milk CCS then milk CCS and then milk CCS. Oh, and milk CCS too.

Love most of their works. Wish they did doujins for Code Geass.

I can't. It's okay if you aren't doing anything anyway. Not when you have 3.5 ongoing manga (not hiatus like X, but actually ongoing) and you need drop them all to start milking something else.

What do they have ongoing right now? xxxHOLIC? I know they're doing Clear Card but I guess that doesn't count since it's CCS.

There's some series they've had on hiatus for a while but that user said excluding hiatus stuff. They have the new xxxHolic manga and they did a new Tsubasa arc. Other than that Clear Card is the only one I can think of.

I quite enjoyed RG Veda. I was actually considering rereading it recently.

The most annoying part of permanent X hiatus is unfinished tarot cards set.

I want more Tsubasa stuff. It's probably my favorite CLAMP series. I guess it's not their best work but I suppose there is a difference between favorite and best.

I wish I could find more scans of the omnibus editions of the manga. The first volume seems to be the only one. Madokami might have them but that's useless to me since I'm sure the registration is still closed.

Why didn't they cast a hotter Yuko and Himawari? Especially Himawari. I guess Yuko isn't too bad but still.

Are you actually reading the Clear Card manga? Because it's much better than the anime was. The pacing of the anime was complete trash and half of it was filler, and they apparently forgot how to make interesting filler since the original CCS anime.

Yeah. It's very rough, but you can see a lot of ideas that will re-used later (and better).

They started an xxxHolic's sequel, but guess what, it's on Hiatus. Legal Drug re-started and then went on hiatus again when it started to get interesting. Tsubasa gets some chapters and here but nothing noteworthy.

No idea what happened to that series with Hana and the Japanese warlords reincarnated.

I've never read read anything CLAMP. What's the best starting point? What are the essentials? Anything to avoid?

Yes, it's not much better. The pacing is "better" because you don't have to watch 24 minutes of Sakura catching a card, but everything else is dull because the series was done and has nothing to say.

Look at Touya and Yukito, their characters are less interesting than they were

There's such a mysterious charm to it, maybe if I read it now(i'm 22) it won't have the same effect but as a 14 year old I remember it blowing me away with how it felt, it had so much charm.

Never watched the anime and yes I know the Tsubasa shit drags it down sometimes but Holic is still amazing

Most of their older stuff is worth reading/watching. CCS is probably their biggest property and the anime for it is really good. I'd avoid X just because it never got an ending, though you can read it if you understand that there won't be an ending. Kobato is probably their most recent series I'd consider a must read. Though I'm somewhat enjoying Clear Card it is the definition of milking.

I haven't watched the anime for most of their stuff so I can't tell you how they compare but I know most of them are pretty different from the manga. Tokyo Babylon has 2 OVAs that are original stories that are cool that you can watch after reading the manga.

Yep. Although I went with xxxHolic first. It got a tiny bit confusing near the end though with the clones but it was still alright.

They spread themselves too thin on too many series. TRC was a massive mess trying to tie in all of their works. The attempt had merit but they made the mistake of putting time paradox thing in it, you can still follow but it's convoluted. Idk how the new CCS fits in, it might end up contradicting XXXHolic.

Whenever I imagine Holic I think of a black page with smoke in it and that's what I mean by the mysterious charm. I don't mean an actual page of the manga but just an image I have in my mind, like a hazy and surreal story, a lukewarm melancholic feeling.

Dunno if you get what I mean.

I mean I prefer Tsubasa over xxxHOLIC to be honest but I like both. I guess I'm more into the adventure and characters in Tsubasa. But I do like the atmosphere in xxxHOLIC and the supernatural stuff.

I also prefer chill Watanuki over spaz Watanuki. But I prefer ther stories before chill Watanuki

The sense of adventure is great, I agree. But I guess I just prefer the more surreal and atmospheric feel of xxxHolic. It just makes the world feel a bit bigger than it was before, a sense of mystery if you would.

I get where you're coming from. It also kinda depends on the mood you're in. But I do like me some sword battles from time to time. Though I must say that Clamp aren't the best when it comes to fight scenes. Not bad though. But that's something the Tsubasa OVAs did a good job with.
