really great, its mostly just made me insanely excited for film 3 though. the climax of heavens feel is one of my favourite parts of any story and considering how good these 2 films have been its probably going to be incredible

Damn, you should have came to yonge and dundas, it was fine. Kinda hard to enjoy the bridge scene cause the dialogue felt a little janky but overall they did a really good job converting the huge amount of exposition in the VN to a movie. The added fight scenes were well placed, and didn't detract from the story. I like what they did with Saber alter vs Berserker, you really felt how powerful Saber is with a top class mana source. They way the excaliblast and mana burst cuts through the stone buildings was pretty awesome, and watching Herc come alive over and over again was rad. Illya was really cute in this movie and so was Sakura, especially when she wore the dress in the dream sequence. Enjoyed it, and can't wait for the 3rd movie

I watch it this Friday in a local playing. It was way better than I expected I just wanted to see Illya.
The battles are good, it's well animated and they're probably taking the true route.

I only got home recently from my 12:55 showing up in Frosty Moe Land. I went in expecting to love it, since Sakura is my favourite and Heavens Feel is my favorite route.

It exceeded expectations and I absolutely loved it. The theatre wasn't loud or annoying either.
Sakura's back was great, too. Can't wait for part 3.

Same happened here at my theater. I don’t blame anyone for laughing at silly stuff like the finger succ or clapping when shinji got his shit pushed in but laughing during the sex scene is just really immature. That shit was handled really well

Went to see it a second time today since I really loved watching it last Thursday but wanted to watch it without all the man-children that were there the first time. Not only Sakura's evolving psyche and character was really represented, specially thanks to the "midnight snack" scene, but the way they showed Shirou's dilemma between saving the world or saving the love haven he built with Sakura was just fucking powerful. The visuals and the soundtrack really helped to create the psycho-horror atmosphere of the story, too!

People who say that Illya got shafted hard in this movie really exagerate, though. Despite not having as much focus as the heroine, she still managed to get the essential scenes along with a new one with Taiga. The ones who got shafted though were Kotomine, Rider and even Rin since I felt like they should have added atleast one scene showing Rin's aggressivity towards Sakura to better contextualize Sakura's jealousy.

Despite the cuts, the movie had a great direction and was much better paced than the first one. Solid 9/10 for me!

Its a good adaptation of the VN so it has all the parts that I didn't like about HF, mainly how much time is spent being sick in bed.

It was fucking trash. The worst structured soap opera I've seen. It didn't even look good, in the case of Ufotable, digital compositing was a mistake.

They really downplayed Sakura's jealously for this movie which is a welcome change since it was one of the things that really annoyed me about her back when I played the route. She doesn't feel like a bitch anymore.

I was surprised how tasteful the sex scene was. I expected a lot worse. The scene where Ilya eavesdrops on Fujimura and Sakura is original to the movie isn't it? Really loved that addition, the other original scenes not as much.

They did a great job with Sakura, and even Shinji, but I'm disappointed with how they handled Illya in the second half of the movie. That said, I still really loved the movie.

They cut every scene with her taking care of Shirou after he lost his arm, and downplayed Shirou's relationship with her at this point. Illya absolutely got shafted.

It's nice the movie gave her some closure regarding Kiritsugu, but it's not comparable to the relationship Illya and Shirou built by having honest heart to heart conversations about Kiritsugu, and it's really concerning for her role in part 3.

A good follow up to the first one and easily on par with it. Managed to take the most boring part of HF and make it enjoyable. I loved the visual direction they took with scenes like Shirou removing the shroud and Sakura's dream.

Shinji was quite a surprise in the movie. They managed to made him appear less comically evil thanks to the VA's performance.
I get you when it comes to Illya's reduced role in this movie, but I feel like they decided to fast-forward things up just so they can have the last two days just right, which are absolute peak of the whole VN, for the last part. Considering the preview for Spring Song, they might do her role justice along with Sakura and Rin's hardships now that the remaining time frame is much shorter, unlike Lost Butterfly's 4-5 days.

His VA really did a fantastic job, coupled with Sudou's directing Shinji's emotions came across wonderfully. The library scene when it dawns on him that someone like Shirou was a Magus especially stood out. Even in his pre-death scene with Sakura when he's doing something absolutely *vile* and abhorrent it's still clear this is a breaking moment for him.

That said they definitely fast-forwarded things, which is understandable, but I'm still concerned for those last two days since while they are less days than Lost Butterfly had to cover, those two days are absolutely *packed*, especially with fights. It's going to be hard to cover everything, especially if Sudou decides to expand on the ending even further than the VN did.

That said I really hope you're right and they do her and everyone else's role justice, but there was still opportunity for Illya to do more in this movie. Rin didn't need to be the only one to talk to Shirou about his arm, Illya could've been there too and we could've seen that side of her. It wouldn't even need to interfere with Rin telling Shirou about her high-jump memory, and Sakura listening in, because Illya could've left and Rin could still have her talk.

I just wanted to see Illya be less passive here. She was still passive in the VN, but not as passive as she was here.

I'm also still holding out hope that the conversation her and Shirou had after she sang still makes it in somehow. A flashback at the beginning of Spring Song, idk, anything because that was a really important scene to set up events surrounding her and her relationship with Shirou in the rest of the route. I can't believe Sudou would just cut it.

The only times people really acted like morons at my showing was the "I'm not a virgin" line and when Sakura started sucking Shirou's finger; people managed to keep their pieholes shut for the sex scene, but the only time it was true burger movie watching was when everyone started clapping when Shinji got killed.

Speaking of Spring Song, I wonder how are they gonna adapt the "BRING ILLYA BACK" sequence since what makes it iconic is also thanks to the structure of the visual novel. Sudou might figure something out when it comes to its visual representation, but with the missed context from Lost Butterfly, it's understandable to be worried on the impact it will have.

Kirei got shafted a lot across both movies. Hope they fix this in the next one. At least he is essential for the third movie, especially if they go with the "true ending" where he fights Shirou.

Illya unfortunately got shafted more than the others. This movie and the third one were supposed to sell us her character a lot. As a VN reader I can tell that her scenes got shortened a lot, and some were entirely eliminated. Probably to shill us more Sakura, since Ufotable likely thought "Illya already has a long anime series with multiple season, no need to cover her that much."

Rin will kick ass the next movie. Her big action scene pretty much already got confirmed already. She's the least affected, since as always, Rin is the one that helps Shirou the most across all 3 routes.

Not a burger, but those scenes were fun due to how awkward they felt. Their transition to the big screen were less effective than I thought they would be. Seriously, the mood of the hug in the rain was ruined by the dialogue. Duirng the screening I attended, a couple of people where chuckling during most scenes in which Sakura felt jealousy or yandere. It honestly felt like we were watching a mexican soap opera. So many soap opera and dorama cliches. More than I remember, to be honest. Been more11 years since I read HF, so I was surprised at how cheesy the "romance" was.

This, it was great - and Sakura was done really really well (despite what i expected from all the shitposting on this board sometimes).

Rider is bae, but goddamn Sakura suffered a lot between the worm-rape and the Shinji-rape (and sister-abandonment). The movie portrayed her fractured psyche well (with the fantasy/escape dream sequence which is just her eating people) and just how she was able to fall as such a broken person. Its a tad heartbreaking.

I don't know if "BRING ILLYA BACK" will be that difficult to adapt, honestly. It's a pretty straightforward scene that basically boils down to

Since it's a very Shirou thing for him to do, it's entirely believable. Even the movies have shown Shirou is still willing to go to great lengths to protect Illya with Lost Butterfly's forest scene.

I'm actually more concerned about the scene where Illya willingly agrees to be kidnapped. It's right after Illya and Shirou's conversation while walking home, and plays a big part in just how powerless Shirou is made to feel in that moment. If the conversation was skipped, it's possible that won't hit as hard.

Nope, Sakura's Holy Grail stuff only activates in HF. Something about her emotions toward Shirou triggering it or somesuch.

She always suffered in all of the routes. But she never turned into the Shadow/Grail in the other routes because in those routes Shirou never chose her (which amplifies her emotions/worries over losing him/anxiety over finally being happy and free of torment).

All of this kicks her distraught emotions into overdrive (which feeds directly into Angra Mainyu/The Grail).

She still has the worms though.

Almost nothing else of substance happened, and all the major character building scenes with Kotomine and Illya are either going to be rushed in part 3, or simply not happen at all. The latter will leave the whole story an incoherent mess.

One would think Saber Alter's existence is self-explanatory to secondaries.

I wager Kirei will get the Sakura treatment next film and will get a 5 minutes flashback at the beginning or something. The end of the film and the pinnacle of Fate itself is his last stand against Shirou. You can't have that moment be as epic as its meant to be if he isn't developed. On these 2 films he's just been a random priest and the UBW anime too didn't give him any focus. So it's a given the 3rd movie will focus on him now that Sakura isn't really herself anymore, otherwise the ending will fall flat if it's just Shirou against some filler guy. I have 0 expectations on Ilya and Rin though.
