I'm surprised at how much it's being shit on. I love it. Top 3 for me. Visuals are great too and it's nice to see some parts with really good animation since we probably won't get anywhere near that quality for the actual episodes.

The song per se isn’t that bad, the first opening is way worse in this aspect, but the graphics are really underwhelming, especially the fact that there are parts of animations already seen in the anime, something that I personally hate and that has never happened to Jojo before

All of it is redrawn. There's not a single reused frame in the new opening. Though with La Squadra taking up a lot of the opening I imagine they'd have to change that at some point to the people they're going to be fighting later, which seems like a lot of work, so I wonder how they'll go about doing that.

Ehh, very good portrayal of Epitaph, Risotto fight, Abbachio's shining, crippled man's findings about the drops of blood and the arrowbowl. Also like how the first part pays homage to prior events since they didn't get even silhouette'd in the opening. OP2 is also easy to fill with enemy stands since the Doppio part's backgrounds are so empty.

Shitty animeonly here - is it me or are the characters in Part 5 (save for Giorno, unfortunately) some of the best written in the anime so far? I find the earlier parts have this issue where the characters lack nuance outside of their basic personalities, and Araki does things like give them really hamfisted character development (like Koichi's tendency to go super saiyan under pressure) or last-minute flashbacks to explore them. But here not only are we given some flashbacks for everyone, but we see the characters are explored to a greater degree beyond their base personalities - things like Narancia seeing himself in Trish because of his upbringing, Buccellati being pushed by Giorno to stop the drug trade and lashing out at the boss, Abbacchio's devotion to following Buccellati's orders due to shit with his past, and even Trish herself has us learning that her snobby girl personality is more of a facade and she's really just super stressed out about this whole situation.

It's just really surprising to see more organic, explorative moments in a series that I didn't really know for super well-written characters.

Johnny just kind of tags along - again, weak motivation for Jojo. He doesn't need to win the race nor does he really need the corpse, he just goes for them just because. Even Hot Pants has a better motive. What's up with that?

"I want to use my legs again" IS a motive, user. Motives don't have to be addressed immediately by the narrative, the character just has to take steps to achieve that in some way. They can veer off course if it makes sense for them, as long as they're ultimately moving in the direction of what they want in the grand scheme of things. Johnny has gotten involved with Gyro and the Corpse Parts, and it's all because of the ultimate goal of being able to use his legs again. He wouldn't do any of that if that wasn't what he wanted. Each new Spin technique he learns and each Corpse Part found brings him closer and closer, and the one big setback (Sugar Mountain) was out of his attachment to Gyro, which was reasonable.

I start off to say, I fucking annoyed that people are comparing this to Great Days with out knowing that they are different for a reason. The main point of the song is to sound different based on the setting of the parts. Part 4 is meant to give a great feeling because we are falling the shoes of a teenagers who is trying to live yet just get in trouble he never wanted but is willing do what it take to protect people he love.

Part 5 is meant to give a serious feeling knowing that things aren't always perfect. Notice how this is the part where they straight went out of their way to murder everyone who was after them. This is very different from the older parts. This why the tone is so different, I don't why people don't see it. What they are literally asking for is Great Days part 2.

Something I realized around the time Stands are introduced is that the Main Jojo actually stops taking center stage and it's more about the world around him.
>Polnaref takes center stage in SC. He has an arc about his sister and his guilt involving Avdol's death. He's one of the only ones to survive and his assistance is pretty critical to their victory.
>Josuke's arc is short and pretty much ends with his grandpa's death. Koichi however goes from having no confidence, to awakening his stand under duress, to evolving that stand and getting cocky with his own abilities. After being humbled by Kira he becomes confident enough to be someone that even Jotaro respects as a fighter.
>The whole story is built around Bruno and how much the gang respects him. He is the singular force that brings them all together and his skill and foresight are honestly what gets them as far as they do. Even generic shonen MCs have a presence that is personable enough or a silly quirk/flaw to balance them out to and least make me like them, like a love for food or a lust for battle. Giorno legitimately has nothing. Nothing like Abbacchio's comittment to following orders, Narancia's insecurities, Mista's belief in fate and luck, or Buccellati's kindness. Nothing about Giorno stands out in a way where I can say he has a character at all, other than the fact that he inspires others, which isn't a personality and doesn't actually make him seem like a stronger character because he already doesn't feel like a character and it's unjustified.

I would have preferred if Araki kept the feel he had in the first half of the series - where he was a polite, albeit smarmy thieving rogue who could slip up but otherwise kept a cool head and demonstrated actual character traits like his questionable morality - things that can't be demonstrated now that he's with other just-as-questionable characters.
