Chapter 43
Tensions are on the rise in Ayano's harem, a murder on the court, and Professor Uchika teaches us about the sciences.
Oh this is the chapter with the huge bodies/small heads.
That's it for this week. Next time, revenge is a dish best served cold.
If you spot any mistakes or would like to help out, let us know.
Also, if anyone happens to have raws for the last few chapters of Shakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume, they would help us expedite getting the translations finished.
Thanks again!
>daughter wants nothing to do with you besides crushing you at badminton
>adopted daughter is rapidly losing her edge
>still singularly focused on making ONE of them the best in the world
She's an absolutely terrible mom, but I can respect she's still heading down the path she feels is right.
Thanks.
Well, she already got Lixiao into the #1 spot.
She's taken the "person close to the MC goes full heel to motivate them to break their limits" archtype to its peak. I'm genuinely interested if she'll ever sit down Ayano and explain her crazy ass plan of creating more whetstones for her to sharpen her skills on to make her the best. To think it all would been for naught if Ayano had truly quit badminton for good.
Ayanon is a demon.
Now that's a sweep.
Connie is a cute dork.
It's still fucking wild that Ayano's got her own family servant or some shit.
Thanks for the chapter.
>making ONE of them the best in the world
I think she just wants them to grow and to surpass her. Her philosophy is that you need raibarus to progress, otherwise you'll just end up repeating what the previous generation was. She genuinely thinks this path is the only way for Ayano et. al. to achieve badminton greatness, but it hurts her because she really did want to have a normal relationship with Ayano. If anything, Connie's current state is support for her abandoning Ayano.
More like it confirms she's a shit parent no many how many tries she gets. It's all well and good to want your kids to achieve greatness, but she gave them zero time to grow as actual people outside of badminton. Connie finally makes some friends and she completely loses her competitive edge, wanting to just spend happy time with her mama, and Ayano is just unhinged.
Best wife.
Thank you for the chapter and dump!
>Shakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume
Once you're done with these, any chances you're doing the remaining 10 Keijo chapters?
I thought Hanebado had some similarities to Hunter x Hunter, and now I see that the manga art looks similar, too.
This is interesting to me, in that between Ayano, Connie and Uchika, only the latter seems to love Badminton the most. Ayano probably sees it as a way to fill the void in her life, as she once did with friends and mom, Connie probably sees it as a way to stay together with Uchika. Only Uchika seems to love training for it and trying to get better at it (and even see if she can help other people get better at it) because she really likes it.
I agree, and I feel like she wanted to share that joy with Ayano, but when you make a child's life revolve around a singular thing while press "be the best" all the time, they'll be less likely to genuinely enjoy it. Ayano just liked badminton because she got to spend time with her mom and make her happy when she did well, and now she only plays to crush her mom. With Connie she just went fuck bonding turn her into a badminton machine(for Ayano to crush) which turned into proving Viggo was wrong to dump Connie.
You say that as if Uchika forced Ayanon to play badminton.
Thanks for the chapter.
How many chapters are the raws ahead of the translations?
The latest chapter was 72
I never really got involved in the scanlation for that, but I'm pretty sure the user who has been doing it is still going at it. Releases have been coming off and on for a while, even if they're not as consistent as they were after the show ended.
And we're not just picking up unfinished series here. Takkyuu is something we've been working on since the beginning, we just had to find a new translator after the original one got eaten by a bear and, since tonari stopped offering web versions of volume 7 content once it came out, so we'll have to wait for scans to finish up. Honestly, it's my bad for not saving the raws right away in case this happened, but let's just say we're providing the true Asano experience.
I think 72 just came out, so about 30 chapters behind. It's monthly though, so we should catch up mid-late December, a little after chapter 80 and volume 16 come out. Of course, we still need to redo the early chapters before we can truly say we're caught up, so unless we get an extra typesetter who can help us do old and new chapters simultaneously, it'll be next March or April before we can get out of catch-up mode, relax, and look at other projects.
Ayano and Connie remind me a bit of the Todd Marinovich story. His father was a huge fan and coach of American football and wanted his son to experience the joy of being an NFL caliber QB, so he trained him from birth to be the best quarterback in America. For a time, it worked. Todd was the top high school QB prospect in the nation and had perfect mechanics. It was never enough for his dad though, who always pushed him extremely hard and made football the singular focus in Todd's life. When Todd got to college, he turned to drugs and alcohol and eventually fell off the deep end after barely making it into the NFL in the early 90's.
His life when down the shitter after his career failed due to his drug use. He had nothing without football and got arrested numerous times. I think he was recently arrested for possession of meth and indecent exposure.
If you expose someone to badminton basically everyday, even if you aren't overtly forcing them, there's still a lot of pressure on them.
Kids tend to imitate their parents anyway, right?
It's really nice to read a monthly manga like it's weekly. Happy to hear that it will continue for a while.
But in Ayano's case she was actually motivated to play badminton, not pressured by it.
Good to hear Takkyuu is being completed! I'll try to see if I can find raws.
Thanks for the chapter
