They need to do something like OPM or Fate. They have the best animators in the industry and I know it would be amazing. With that kind of show you can make the most impact with animation.

I always wonder what happened to make both of these series get produced in such a way. They are so similar in almost every aspect, though I would deffinitly say Phantom World is better than Inou-Battle.

Both are extremely shallow and generic light novel battle harem adaptations produced to the absolute highest quality by Kyoani and Trigger even though neither studio ever take on projects like that. And neither of the source materials seemed popular enough or good enough to receive the level of polish that they did.

Not really. Phantom World has considerably higher production values. I remember Inou-Battle being inconsistent and full of shit. Phantom World at least has some redeeming qualities.

Compared to most garbage light novel battle harem adaptations Trigger's work on Inou-Battle was much higher than you typically get, and considering it was left mostly to their support staff as opposed to their core staff the work they put into the visuals is even more admirable. Phantom world blows it out of the water in that regard but only in that regard because in every other aspect they are just as shallow and generic as eachother.

I was just saying that it's interesting how both studios ended up putting out these extremely similar shows to the level of quality they did that are so equally out of place in both of their repertoires and have not really done anything like them since.

Nah. It's impressive but it doesn't have this kind of shading and stylisation. The water, at it's best, in Phantom World even looks slightly better than Violet Evergarden. They should do more of this quality stuff instead of the cheap and ugly kagenashi dogshit in Tsurune and Liz. It's also not just the shading tones, the patterns and details are drawn beautifully too.

Free doesn't look better than this. Neither the hand drawn parts nor the overlays.
