Boogiepop and Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru have great soundtracks that I would put in the same ballpark.

Regu is best girl

Where the fuck is it, pedoman? Where is the chapter? I want to see them suffer, god damn it!

Suffering's been cancelled, only wholesome cuddles from this point on.

Manga canceled.

Not almost as good, but better.

I will marry Moogie

Yes, Penkin is working on Shield Hero this season.
The Shield Hero ED is also godlike, although more generic than the Mia ED.

TPN is really good in terms of ost, but not as godlike as MiAs

boogiepop wa warawanai has some godly soundtracks
waiting for the release

MiA was special tier good. that sorta thing happens once every few years. unfair comparison. and every show has its own style too; penkin was aiming for a movie score kind of soundtrack, which is entirely fine, but not every show needs nor wants a cinematic soundtrack like that.

i want to use this to highlight another surprising but very welcome development: songwriters branched out into soundtrack composition recently, and the results are really good.

wakeshima kanon, who most people know as the writer and singer of the WIXOSS OP songs, co-composed the miss beelzebub soundtrack. the soundtrack has not been ripped yet, but it features some wonderful, soft melancholy tracks i can't wait to hear in full.

even more impressive: yanagi nagi, who most people know as the singer of some fluffy JC Staff anime OPs and EDs, composed the soundtrack of just because entirely on her known. and it's great!

one composer i really miss is muramatsu ken. his last real anime gig was in 2012. umi monogatari, kurenai, and sketchbook full color's are among the best soundtracks i know & i listen to most often.

the boogiepop wa warawanai soundtrack is okay but a bit of a re-hash of the godly boogiepop phantom soundtrack. like, fuck me, so good:

It's not much of a rehash. Besides that track they sound completely different. The new one is quite distinctly Ushio.

I have to agree with this. Kevin knocked this one just absolutely out of the ball park.

Personally I am still amazed at the volume of outstanding tracks Yoko Kanno has done, and it is so sad we wont ever get another Yoko Kanno track sung by Origa ;_;

Trim that stash.

Dororo Ending is really nice but nothing compared to Penkin
