Honestly, a story like this worked fine enough as a LN. This manga adaptation is serviceable, but I wouldn't consider this superior to the original.

Im gonna get going now, but will return for the rest. Take care.

Goodbye Anons.

Thanks for the dump.
How much is left? Should I wait, or just go to bed and finish this in the morning?

Let's just say we'll need another thread after this one before wrapping up.

>3 am

Am I gonna sleep well tonight?

Not them, but it's easy to see both the shortcomings of this manga and why it's overrated in aggregate review. It's an emotionally poignant story on the value of life, the connections we make, and missed opportunities/regrets. Realistically speaking these types of stories aren't uncommon or particularly original. They're just very strong on first exposure. They're uncommon in illustrated format however so when one of these stories gets adapted, they'll likely make strong impressions to relatively younger and unexposed audiences. Regarding the manga itself, it's simply been an illustration of the story and little beyond that from what's been dumped so far. It doesn't do anything with the medium to make it beyond just retelling of the story but with pictures. It's not badly done, but it doesn't feel like it's elevating it and doesn't try to make strong imagery. The suicidal thoughts confession by Himeno for example was simply the letter and an empty view of the place she intended for it. No drawing of her falling or even possibly her corpse on the ground next to a shocked Kusonoki.

I'm reminded of another manga I think got dumped a while back which was about a girl who could let the dead communicate with the living or some such ability. I can't remember it well, but it was also very emotionally targeted in similar ways. I felt a great impact when reading it, but now I can't remember a detail about the story besides the fact it got sappy at the end and a panel with people flying in the air as ghosts joyfully.

The workings of this paranormal black organization are simply devices for the author to get his story going apparently. Putting critical thought to it is only going to bring up more plot holes and Frodos than you know what to do with.

Agreed on most of what you posted, the artist is definitely not using the medium to its fullest potential and it shows. Still won't complain to much, I feel the story is fine either way. Might want to try the novel out if it's translated.

If he impregnates ghost girl, will people see a floating fetus? Nothing? Can he hold her but not impregnate her?

It is, if the explanation itself is a plot hole. Why wouldn't they sell it back? It'd be an extremely trivial profit and an easy way to scam people regretting their decisions for far more money than they paid. If not then that would mean they have a use for their life that was actually worth more than what was paid. Saying they simply can't undo that process would also be another plot hole as we have no explanation to how they do it in the first place. This is all just speculation on a system that may entirely be unformed in the author's mind however. Its primary purpose is just to make the protagonists' situations a bit more tragic.

It's a really dumb idea that makes no sense. Why would his lifespan be valued by how other people value it? It's not like they'll be living his life, they're just be using his lifespan. All lifespan should be interchangeable because a year of life-span doesn't dictate how that year is lived, we know this because the very act of selling his lifespan altered the next 3 months. Also selling and buying time is very dumb too. By selling time, Miyagi became an observer, but what does it mean to buy time? Can only observers buy time?

What the fuck. A human life costs 200million yen according to Kaiji. considering Japan's life expectancy at 84 years that would be about 2.38 million yen per year, €18,828. This would mean she sold her life for 235 times less than it would cost.

Seriously, who is that much of a shithead?

I'm a sucker for romantic shit so this panel always pulls at my heartstrings

Human life is way, way more valuable than 10000 yen a year. We all sell our lives, it's called "employment". The very identity of currency is units of time itself. By all accounts, the organisation that buys lifespan is a loanshark ripping off desperate people who doesn't understand how much their lives are worth.

Basically, if you charge under minimum wage laws, most people would find the profit justified. Yes, you might have lost 20 years, but that 20 years would have been used to work on a job you hate and as such you were never going to miss it. All that would happen is that you end up dying younger and healthier. The "actual" amount of "LIFE" you would get to live would actually be the same before and after the sale.

Instead of dying at 80 sick and frail, you die at 50 but not having to work at a dead end job, using all the 50 years of your life doing what you love instead.

So the story really is about an organisation that tricks people into giving up something really valuable, for peanuts.

And I guess the author agrees, which is why the afterword story is about a guy who rejected the sale.

I think the whole valuation system is a lie. We know that Miyagi lied about how much his life was worth and somehow gave him 300,000 yen or so, but that doesn't make sense. Where did she get the money from? Why is she involved in the process of paying him or valuation of his lifespan when she's only an observer?

I think your life-span is actually valued by how much you value it, and since the MC didn't value his life, he would get basically nothing for it.

>I think your life-span is actually valued by how much you value it, and since the MC didn't value his life, he would get basically nothing for it.
The afterword story basically claim the opposite.

,2 HOURS OF SLEEP TOMORROW IS A WORK DAY

Attached: 015.png (611x960, 395K)

I think it's a combination of nobody giving a shit about him and him not giving a shit about himself. I don't think this plot hole matters too much since it's just a plot device in an one off manga. If the mangaka takes too much time explaining how the entire thing works it wouldn't change the manga in a significant way, since it's more about the relationship between the two main characters anyway.

Nigger

Attached: 018.png (611x960, 290K)

Can someone explain how this "invisible" thing works? I asked in the other thread, but it was already maxed out.

So by selling your "time", you're essentially adding extra years to your definite lifespan. It's just that nobody not involved in your life of work is unable to interact with you. But for some reason, you still age? Let's suppose you sell 100 years worth of time. Would you come out of the end being an extremely old and decrepit person? And you will still live out your remaining lifespan?

Attached: 019.png (611x960, 303K)

>10000 yen
>100 burgerbucks
What the fuck? At my current job I make that a day. And it's a shit job too.

Attached: 020.png (611x960, 318K)

you're really over thinking it at this point

The main character is actually a schizo

Nothing the old guy says can be trusted, he's advertising an illegal business outside the law without any regulations. He has every reason to lie and obfuscate things. He's just trying to get people to sell their lives, probably so that he can get a finder's fee, and when people resist, he tries to sweeten the deal, and if they keep resisting he gives up and looks for a new rube to gyp out of his lifespan.

>So by selling your "time", you're essentially adding extra years to your definite lifespan
I don't think that's how it works.

Attached: 025.png (611x960, 384K)

There's no guarantee on your life at all, the girl is in debt because her mother sold her time doing observer shit then died during so the organization strong-armed her when she was ten years old into selling her time too.

>Nothing the old guy says can be trusted, he's advertising an illegal business outside the law without any regulations. He has every reason to lie and obfuscate things. It also makes sense that a con-man ended up walking away from the deal. he can smell a con-job because he knows it from the inside. If he couldn't tell a good deal from a bad deal, he would not have survived in his career.

It's hard to believe she's been working for 10 years, and she started at age 10 no less, and nobody held her hand. I mean, you could drive her out to the middle of nowhere, and you'd get 20 minutes all to yourself.

Attached: 029.png (611x960, 550K)

These guys can read your future so they would let you sell time based off of how much you have left, not based on how much you want to.
Might as well ask what would happen if you sold off 1000 years of lifespan, would your family line up to the middle ages suddenly be erased leaving your great x100 grandma with a gorillian gold pieces?

Attached: 030.png (611x960, 474K)

MC is portrayed as very smart, asks himself before hand what the difference is between selling your life vs time. When he goes to the place doesn't ask about it and it is is completely forgotten. Why even bring it up?

Attached: 031.png (611x960, 236K)

Was she an observer at 10 years old? Did some lucky guy get a cute loli observer for a while?

Attached: 032.png (611x960, 348K)

GET DOWN, HIMENO AND MIYAGI

Attached: 033.png (611x960, 534K)

>$100 for a year of life
Damn she got ripped off.

I'm really sad for her, I want her to be happy and him too and preferably together

The way I understand it, selling your time is like selling your Lifespan, except you're selling from now instead of the end. So suppose you sell at time T, your life ends at time E, and let 0

Attached: 001.png (611x960, 430K)

You're mixing selling "time" working for the company with selling "lifespan" from your fated future.

The whole story is suspect. The people who can buy your lifespan also know how you would have lived that life? With that kind of omniscience, imagine what you could do. You could trick a person with a valuable lifespan to sell it for nothing.

Attached: 003.png (611x960, 375K)

Attached: 004.png (611x960, 562K)

I just realized how brilliant this scam is. You buy life for dirt cheap, and even if one out of every hundred people is inspired by the shit value they get out of it, that one guy will end up sky rocketing his life value. Then they're forced to rebuy life in order to continue being happy.

But if were to be quite literally god, why would you?

Attached: 006.png (611x960, 536K)

got impatient and read the thing on manga rock

the ending is literally gift of the magi but double suicide? I can't fathom why this is terribly interesting.

Attached: 007.png (611x960, 542K)

I mean, it's only a scam if
1. they want to buy their life back
2. they try to buy their life back
if miyagi wasn't around, then who is to say that kusunoki would feel this way

Attached: 008.png (611x960, 432K)

Attached: 009.png (611x960, 479K)

>But if were to be quite literally god, why would you?
A literal god wouldn't need to buy life. Any deity that need to buy life would also have an incentive to scam life out of people for cheap, because as far as we can tell the organisation is not policed by anything.

>vending machine isekai
elaborate

lmao

Literally the first thing that will pop up if you search for it.

So why did the grill become a life bodyguard?

Let's say he buys life from people who rather day, and resells them to people who want to live or at least that's my headcanon god

Attached: 013.png (611x960, 313K)

>For 10,000 Yen A Year
$ 89.75 a year.

Is the MC a retard?

>I mean, it's only a scam if
>1. they want to buy their life back
>2. they try to buy their life back
It is a scam if the organisation know everyone's true value, but has incentive to pay as little as possible for it and no one could know if they lied.
I would imagine that the extra life is then sold to wealthy clients at a massive profit, on the other end.

thanks, thought it would've been a somewhat obscure thing because of how stupid it sounds

Attached: 014.png (611x960, 382K)

Attached: 015.png (611x960, 528K)

Attached: 016.png (611x960, 478K)

This made no sense. There was no contact between the both of them in 10 years aside from a letter sent by her. And when he did reply, he didn't get another reply after that. Not to mention, isn't getting pregnant and ruining her life in high school her own fault? Why not ask him to support you now that you did meet up with him?

Her mother sold time to the company and used the cash to also buy lifespan from them, then died before she paid off the time she gave. Apparently that debt was passed down to her (the classic Japanese debt inheritance).

Attached: 017.png (611x960, 531K)

>Let's say he buys life from people who rather day, and resells them to people who want to live or at least that's my headcanon god
Yeah, but my point is that there is no reason why they wouldn't try to rip off the people who want to sell their life. The point being instead of paying people what their life is worth, they would just pay what the person is willing to sell for. And it is very easy to just trick desperate people by giving them a lower bound estimate as much as possible. There is nothing stopping them from undervaluing every victim's life to maximise profits, that's what unregulated scams are.

I went out of my country at 16 to help my family get out of some debt and "build" a small business that would make my parents be able to retire at 50 since they both started working at age 8 and 12 (father / mother). While I was away for 5 years my brother was left in charge of our business as our father was with me and my mother worked all day long

Long story short, he used business connections to trick people into lending him money "for business" without even putting anything as warranty, these people were drug dealers laundering money and would have killed us if I didn't intervene and sell everything I had to settle 80% of it. apart from that, the business was bankrupt when i returned and he put all our properties on banks that he never paid to

I come from a poor country on the Caribbean so losing around 400k in total, 70k to go while being left with a credit that not even a bank would let you open a savings account is literally something you cannot recover from in a lifetime

Image limit reached, making a new thread.

The greatest thing that ruins tragedy is being able to think of anything trivial that would prevent it from being a tragedy. Or the thing causing the tragedy being too unreal in the first place. It's definitely pulling down this story or its storytime at least. Look at how many Frodos people are bringing up.

Are we going to reach image limit or finish first?

Women logic, what did you expect ?

>women are stupid for not begging men to raise their children that don't belong to them after being 10 years apart
?????????????????????????????????

I think I understand now what you mean but this story made me believe in human heart too much for right now to believe anyone will do that, I hope to be that blissful forever

New thread

Are you triggered?

Sorry, I'm not a cuck
I don't get mad when women don't ask me to raise chad's leftovers

She was never gonna ask him to support her kid, not in the original future or now. She just wanted to see if sending that old letter would let her see him again back then, and was heartbroken when he apparently forgot that letter's meaning.

>I think I understand now what you mean but this story made me believe in human heart too much for right now to believe anyone will do that, I hope to be that blissful forever
The point is that nearly everyone in this manga is a victim. The only person who is a knowing participant in the scam is that old man who selects desperate people to scam from. So you are not wrong in that almost everyone in the story is a good person. it's just that it doesn't change what the real villains are, even if the villains literally are off-panel making a killing out of targeting the desperate and mentally ill, and taking them to the cleaners.

>BASED CHAD

Buyers market.

lmao

What happened if you got her to open doors and shit? To observers, would it look like the door opened by itself? Would be interesting with a locked door.

Damn, nigga.

Oh I forgot about this thread...

>Seriously, who is that much of a shithead?
Scam artists who target the desperate and mentally ill. There is a good reason they PICK who they offer their services to; they only want those who would give away their life for nothing. It's like with Madoka's Incubators, the deal is horrible and no sane person would accept it. So you target children and people who are in despair. They prey on the weak.

God lord please spoiler that shit. This is blue board for god sake.

If he'd been offered 30 yen instead of 300,000 yen, he probably wouldn't have gone through with it and killed himself like he's doing.

Wait, so you can kill people even with though some people mentally break down after selling off their life? Then what's the point of an observer.

>What the fuck is this?
A scam. It's like those "cash for gold" store.

The warning bells should be ringing when you notice that the organisation doesn't advertise; instead, they pick who they offer their services to. They only target people they could buy life for way below its true worth, that's why they can't let everyone in on the deal.

Girls find your more attractive if you're already dating someone.

I can't believe he led such a lonely life with how smooth he's being right now with miyagi and himeno, hard to believe he never scored a girlfriend or at least some pussy.

even if she's perceived as imaginary apparently

You try harder when you have nothing left to lose. Miyagi's also made him more comfortable around women.

why does she seem like such a cunt in her internal dialogue when it seemed like she was warming up to him?

I think I've seen a blog post about this, someone taking photos of vending machines. It's actually very interesting, despite that sense of permanece and invariance as they say, nobody notices but there has to be sometime who comes and refills the machine every few days. Without a human to take care of it, the machine would become useless quickly.

KonMari, is that you?

how?

>Trained her in headpats
Nice

Can't he see her beer mug get emptied by itself?

At least get her a pillow dude.

>expected to tip

Man, this made that vending machine isekai super dark in hindsight.

I've read this manga quite some time ago, from an user's recommendation. It's one of the best things I've read, have fun Yea Forums

There's something to be said for simplicity though. If the art does its job and the story is compelling, it doesn't need bells and whistles. Especially since Nips equate rough-spun and naturalistic with authentic emotion.

It doesn't matter how many times a story is told, only that it is told well.

The money is a device to show the MC is a worthless piece of shit. The things that would potentially make him worth more have him positively impacting other people's lives, which is considered a social good.

In utilitarian terms, time that was going to be spent at a soup kitchen or synthesizing a vaccine for HIV would be worth more than time spent masturbating or posting on Yea Forums. Hell, time getting YouTube famous would be worth more, because a YouTube video potentially brings entertainment or imparts knowledge to someone.

This is a really simple literary device and it's amazing how hard it is for people to grasp.

>This is a really simple literary device and it's amazing how hard it is for people to grasp.
The extra chapter completely invalidated this.
The point isn't how worthless someone is. But that he was STILL being conned because he wasn't actually worthless but only believed that he was. That the organisation was able to steal his life for cheap, because they offered to take his life just before he got any chance to make it better. They targeted him at his weakest, knowing he would have otherwise pulled through if he just held on a bit longer. And he only found out afterwards how much he was really worth and that it was too late.
