What exactly what was that made Fist of the North Star one of the greatest animes of all time? Was it the voice acting? The constantly-improving animation quality? The story? The characters? The soundtrack? Was it because it was one of the first to do so many oft-seen themes and do them well? Why is it still so highly-regarded despite having no new stories released for years?

>constantly-improving animation quality?
>What exactly what was that made Fist of the North Star one of the greatest animes of all time?
It wasn't.
>posts a still image
Every time.
>The story? The characters?
>Was it because it was one of the first to do so many oft-seen themes and do them well?
These three. Also, it inspired countless other shit, both in manga and on the west. Mortal Kombat was pretty much completely based on the Kaioh saga for example, it is very influential just visually as well.
Other tropes it popularized and did well are: learning some ultimate technique based on raging or suffering, rape, romance, clans and bloodlines, ancestor karma, fighting techniques and opposing clan factions, gay faggots getting crushed by superior chad (Raoh, Kaioh), MC not getting a single girl but dying a virgin, antagonists son continues the story, etc.
Don't forget Muso Tensei - literally every martial arts anime since then has had it in one form or another
Oh, I forgot to add the resident loli in love with the bland daddy-husbando MC.
Even Berserk took a damn lot from HnK, and no wonder since Miura and Buronson worked together for a long time.
I mentioned that
>learning some ultimate technique based on raging or suffering
There's so much more crap, I'm trying to think of some.
Annoying comic relief male kid who just happens to be rather resourceful and competent.
Then there's my favorite trope that hasn't been done that much in other manga: some character that has an emotional bone to pick with some ancient injustice that plagued both him and an entire side/role/clan he is either a part of or personifies - Kaioh. I haven't seen this done often in manga, although it's a really old Japanese storytelling trope.
>animes
I actually sat down and watched most of HnK. It is, at best, dumb fun.
Don't mind me, just posting best song

The anime is fun, but the quality isn't that great. It distracts you from what is a God-tier shonen manga. The manga is twice as manly as the animated series.
The best thing about the anime was the voice acting and OST, the actual animation was pretty bad and there was a lot of filler. The story, art and characters are what makes the manga 10/10 though.
Goddamn that shit makes Toriyama look like Toyotaro
it was fag
I watched all of it. You are, at best, a complete fag.
>forgot about Kung fu Jesus trope

It's a patricians choice manga. Just ask anime Hitler.

>What exactly what was that made Fist of the North Star one of the greatest
Well, it's fun. It also inspired lots of authors. For example, both Miura and Araki were inspired by HnK so we wouldn't have Berserk and JoJo if it wasn't for Tetsuo Hara and his stellar art. Also the manga is better
>ripped off
It's more of an inspiration. He took the designs and added his own flavor to them which is great
It was the OP, that's what.
Tetsuo Hara used to draw shit like this weekly, he's hugely underrated as far as manga artists go. Also the actual GOAT manga artist, Masanori Morita, was his assistant once. Muira has an obvious boner for Fist of the North Star and said when he first saw what Hara drew he couldn't believe how detailed his art was for a weekly series.

I still wish Toki was the real successor.
The goddamned fucking OST was fantastic
youtu.be
That weird disco-spaghettiWestern-metal combo is too good
I think that was kinda like that in Dororo as well.
It's mnre of a rip off than an inspiration though, especially during late part 1 when he has the shoulder pads and shit. His personaliy is completely different though, whereas Jotaro looked a little different but acted much more like Ken. Also for a while a lot of stuff ripped off Ken/Hara's designs.
Miura obviously took a lot of Bronson's ideas concerning tropes and story elements but he worked with him so one should expect it.
As for Hara's art, this scene always made me laugh because it only goes to show how influential those few Raoh moments where on anime and manga. This was drawn by the 1997 Berserk anime crew I believe, not Miura, but still the influence is apparent.
Did Fist of the North Star originate the iconic, high-speed blurred punches, or did something before it do it first?
Fuck I forgot how good the music was.
But I don't thing Dororo was in love with Hyakkimaru. Lin showed literal moments of romantic love sickness and depression, not some bro love.
Thank god she got over that weakling Ken like all the other female characters.
I always though it was the first to do it. I'm not sure if it existed before, I'd say no.
Anyone got that AMV that set the opening song of Crayon Shin-chan to clips from Fist of the North Star? As I recall, it was pretty funny, if you looked up the lyrics and saw how they matched
susumu hirasawa ost
Thr key theme in both FotNS and Berserk is about the struggle against destiny and that's very clear. It might be less clear in FotNS if you read it for the fights and manly action though. But that's my favourite type of story in anything do that explains why I like both.
There's every chance a Bruce Lee movie might have inspired it but in Manga I don't think there was anything before.
>tfw some JJBAtards think that was where rapid fire punching and yelling comes from
Why can't people appreciate the classics.
I don't think Bruce Lee inspired rapid-fire punching. IIRC, his style was focused on making singular fast strikes that create maximal effect, not pummeling the enemy. Could be wrong, though.
I remember that scene, it was genuinely funny.
Rip Jizza, life trolled the shit out of him though.
I think that was actual Jeet Kune Do rather than his movie stuff. In his older movies he punches shit repeatedly at fast speeds. I'm sure The Big Boss had a scene like that but it's been nearly two decades since I saw it so I don't know.
I just remembered there was a scene in Ip Man where Donnie Yen Hyakuretsu-ken's some jobber to dust on the floor.
>OOOOOOWUUU SHUUUUUUUOOOOH
Can we just talk about how so many people had the hots for Yuria but we know jack fucking shit about her?
What we know about her.
She was engaged to Ken (not even how they fucking met, just that they were)
She was the Last Nanto General (But we don't even know what her abilities were)
She had a brother and a Half brother who fucking died.
That's it.
Kaneto Shiozawa owned that role. The one time Akira Kamiya did it when he was in Muso Tensei was also great.
>not even how they fucking met, just that they were
I thought that was explained in the Manga. Or was it a Gaiden.
Dude stole his horse and left him looking like a bitch in front of his men. Sickest burn.
>bland
rude
>mfw we will never have this kinda anime anymore because japs don't like MEN anymore
What went wrong?
It was in the main manga. We see her first encounter with Raoh & Kenshiro where she dropped her ball
>but we know jack fucking shit about her?
We know enough man. The anime is garbage and less said about the gutter trash Gaidens the better.
How they all met is also in the manga. She was brought to the dojo temple as a toddler because she was dumb/emotionless, and in the scene where she meets Raoh she receives a shock from fear which makes her wake up and show emotion.
Then the stupid kid Ken butts in and offers her a ball and she smiles.
Then she has a loli romantic moment where she nurses Raoh to health, who got beaten to the point of dying. This causes him to grow a boner for her and that's about it. She also shows to be completely selfless and extremely brave as a kid as she's the only person who doesn't fear Fudo because she was protecting puppies or something.
Interestingly, her healing abilities (yes we know her abilities user) where only shows with Raoh, never before and never again. So only twice: when she heals him when they where kids, and when she heals him when they arrive at his castle. She once bandages Raoh's general after the guy beats him up, but she never uses her abilities on him in the manga.
So: she was the only girl who lived permanently with the 4 Hokuto brothers, she was extremely hot, she was a typical silent kind type which made their boners unstoppable and she never complains but let's herself be dragged around by whatever joker or group gets their hands on her.
Also, according to Buronson's interview she gave birth to Raoh's son Ryu, but for whatever reason people like to ignore this interview.
>animes
Also Kasumi > Kenshiro.
To me it was the fact that aside of all the best an whistles it had an actual compelling story and characters. All the violence and gore in the world is meaningless if you don't care about the characters. HnK did a pretty decent job doing that and Kenshiro avenging every injustice directly was very cathartic.
Hokuto no ken in a nutshell

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was gay for Raoh. The whole "muh sistr" thing was a cover.
Last time I read the manga the scans turned to shit a few volumes in. Is this still the case?
Stop crying you pussy!
Yes.

Damn we are having a good Hokuno no Ken thread and that's great, don't let it die
Being a better main character than Ken really isn't saying much. Souten no Ken is absolute dogshit in any case.
was this actually in the manga
>myanimelist.net
This Doctor K guy legitimately looks like Kenshiro and Ryo Saeba, what the fuck. How did the auhor manage to replicate this kind of art style so well?
What would you say was the best episode in the show in terms of animation? Rei vs Yuda still sticks out pretty nicely for me
My PTSD triggers everytime I see a HxH related image and I want to immediately close a thread
>Hunterchads causing PTSD now
That is... Dare I say... Based?
Dunno about the show but the movie is top notch in terms of animation
That's a though call. If I had to choose, I'd pick Toki vs Raoh
Which movie? Also lucky digits
HnK2 had lots of great animation, which helps offset the nonsensical plot. The cowboy episode "Rock's Message of Death" had strangely fluid stuff for some reason.
The 1986 one directed by the Vampire Hunter D director
>A HnK movie directed by Vampire Hunter D's director
how the hell haven't I heard of this, time to watch
That's the original HnK movie, yeah? Had the first western release of any HnK media?
Yeah. I'm from Russia but I've heard that this movie has turned lots of American people into anime fans way before Dragon Ball did in the late 90s
Goku Midnight Eye was another popular gateway anime. Too bad it was never continued.
You ok user?
He's got a character in there who also looks exactly like Kakyoin.
NOOOO, OUR LORD AND SAVIOR RAOH! Yuda is the Hisoka of HnK though
Also this is another manga but if I didn't already know where this was from I would assume it was a Raoh gaiden of some kind.
Upper right frame is literally Tetsuo Hara's art
Yuda - goes weak and defenseless before anyone who gives him a boner, can't kill them - exact opposite of Hisoka's murder boner.
Passionate bloodthirst was also a fun trope in HnK, but not every character had it. Raoh and Kaioh had it, a few random faggots but not the tranny dude.
Raoh's rape boner for Yuria was something else, he even has scenes where his hands where shaking from arousal.
Anyone else feel like the anime had too much filler? I wasn't invested at all in ken figting random raider and just waited for him to fight the next martial artist
Yeah Hisoka is definitely more thirsty for killing but they are both gay that's what I was trying to say
The "some of my best friends are gay" is just an edit I made. If you look closely, you can see that the text isn't as clear/dark as the rest of it.
I don't think Jyuuza calls Raoh a "faggot" in Japanese though, I think he just calls him stupid or something
Yeah Toei really likes to fuck everything up. In terms of adaptation HnK is only slightly better than One Piece. The original Dragon Ball is surprisingly good
I always loved that scene - he levels buildings, lets them fall on him, and these dumb fucks decide to pull a knife on him?
It'd be one of my favourites if they cut out all of ken fighting useless goons. HNK 2 was a mess too.
you're right about that
Everyone in this Gaiden has to look like Raoh.
The worst part was the filler eps during the Hokuto Brothers arc, where most of the ep was random bullshit until right at the end when they would advance the plot a little bit.
HnK2 was a mediocre adaptation of a mediocre arc to be honest
I don't think she had healing powers in the manga. The anime just made that up. Her specialty was more in soothing souls than the more outward martial arts abilities of the rest.
Yeah, too much retcon, also sachi was a poor mans rei
Yeah but at least it gave as an awesome opening!

>Also, according to Buronson's interview she gave birth to Raoh's son Ryu, but for whatever reason people like to ignore this interview.
wait when did they say that? I always thought none of the martial arts guys would dare touch her since she was so divine maybe Kaioh but not Raoh.
HnK was just a proto battle shonen with a formula that turned obsolete and repetitive earlier than late. it´s not one of the greatest, it actually turned mediocre eventually and its highly praised by manlets because of "Muh manliness muscles" bullshit, when theres way superior manly stories like Golden Age in Berserk, Ashita no Joe or Vinland saga
Yeah, I like it. Didn't save the overall mediocre experience
Was it ever confirmed if Vega from Street Fighter was based on Rei?
>Make same noises
>Weilds three pronged glove that can slice people up in the same way
>Athletic high flying fighting style
I will say, Rei's gaiden was some fucking random shit.
Nameless Ashura reminds me of Vega more
>Also, according to Buronson's interview she gave birth to Raoh's son Ryu
I will pretend that I've never read this
Lots of Street Fighter designs were inspired by Hokuto no Ken and JoJo
>I don't think she had healing powers in the manga
It's possible you're right. Jet, only this scene implies she might have had some kind of power.
She touches Raoh who can barely move and all of a sudden he feels no pain anymore and calls it the Hand of God. The anime however made up some scene where she heals a bunch of his soldiers but that was fillershit.
It's possible you're right and that was just a symbolic scene of her having a nurturing nature, so it was a bit exaggerated since he still keeps lying on the ground.
She was never divine, wtf. Buronson said that in the 2001 interview and even confirmed it again. I forgot the name of the magazine this interview was in though, I do have it saved somewhere. But if you google it you might find it yourself, google the year and names and content.
Yeah, I just figured it was symbolic due to her nature and how Raoh only knew hardship and brutality in his life until that point.
Ashita no Joe maybe but you're delusional if you think Fist of the North Star is less manly than Berserk or Vinland Saga, in particular Vinland Saga.
Haven't read Vinland Saga but both Ashita no Joe and Berserk are not about MANLINESS. Also that guy you're replying to obviously hasn't read Hokuto no Ken
And now for something completely different
Holy shit that looks like a really fun watch. You know like that Riki Oh movie
Still better than Dragon Ball Evolution
Miso Tensai?
How does someone acquire this look?
>t. editor
You can never unsee it again.
It's a seinen.
>Riki Oh movie
If you think the movie is nuts, read the manga.
I can't even describe it with words. It started like some sort of HnK in prison but after that it goes to the limits of insanity.
Have any of you read Cyber Blue?
It's amazing and it only goes for 4 tomes.
>siiiiip
Was it ever cleared how water is a scarce resource but petrol isn't? I'll leave it open to possibility that I missed it, still I'm pretty sure they just breezed past the matter.
I got the show on blur-ray (152 FUCKING EPISODES split between 3 disc) and don't know what was filler or not. Like the whole Wolf Clan kidnapping Airi which I thought was lulz because I thought of the Wolf Clan as Digganobz. I'm up to Souther trying to make his mausoleum. Glad that this thread is here because I want to know since I don't think it will be reveled, how did Ken get stronk after Shin poked him? Is Ken really a Saiyan and gets stronger after nearly dying? Also how the fuck is Toki still alive??? Shouldn't he have died faster than Rie?
It's more essential I'm assuming. You can just use a horse or walk on foot, fuck cars.
the meeting between ken and toki in cassandra was in retrospect kind of funny, ken says how weak toki's gotten even though he's still fucking ripped as hell but just has an oh so slightly gaunt face
>bro...you got so weak...
>it's true....I can't even bench 4 tons anymore...it's down to like 1 now...
Ken spent like a year training his ass off to beat Shin and tear down whatever army he created.
Well I got that, it's just I don't think I remember refueling their vehicles ever being an issue, and I always figured fuel would wound up just as precious as water or more because they would also have lost the technology to refine fuel. I realise I'm basically nitpicking as you probably shouldn't be worrying about stuff like this in a show about revenge and punching, but still.
Losing Yuria to Shin lit a fire inside the previously indifferent Kenshiro and set him on the path of vengeance and sadness. Shin remarks as much when they meet at Southern Cross.
Never should of come here
I still feel like Amiiba was supposed to be the real Toki and that they decided to retcon partway through
True. Fuck Raoh pulling out that sword and pinning Toki. Toki would of been able to beat him.
Is this shown in the manga?
Yeah your right, Shin did say something about that. I guess Ken JUST Got Gud then.
I think both the manga and the anime say or imply that Ken trained in the wasteland for a year. Granted, some of the time was spent searching for Shin and not finding him yet, but Ken worked his butt off to awaken his full potential and to never be shaken from it.
The anime literally made me pop a blood vessel. It not only had fillershit but it changed story points drastically, even essential details that determine the personalities and roles of characters.
Here's a few changes that pissed me off:
1) Raoh's men where never depicted as immoral or problematic, just cruel. The anime adds literally tons of garbage characters who rape, cause havoc and generally spread chaos that are under Raoh orders. They either don't exist at all the the manga, or they are independent and directly oppose and mock Raoh's rule.
With this it literally twisted the point of Raoh being a ruler of order into a harbinger of chaos. Disgusting, if you didn't read the manga and just watched the anime you'd get a completely different image of the story.
2) It even had a scene where Raoh saves some women from death replaced with Ken saving them, and a scene where Raoh saves Ken and personally bandages him up replaced with his men doing it.
3) Yuza for example was depicted as kidnapping other peoples women in the manga. The women in the manga used his services like the bathing house, but when he tried to have sex with them they screamed against it in fear and ran from him, also with clear faces of fear and discomfort while yelling "no". In the anime that was completely changed into them accepting him, the scared and negative faces replaced with smiles and you even have a trash scene where he claims "all are here willingly and want me" and they play with him in the water. The women where literally kidnapped and some of them asked him kindly to let them go.
The list goes on forever, but the point is that the anime is such garbage that it literally took all the key storytelling points and twisted them to the exact opposite.

>Also, according to Buronson's interview she gave birth to Raoh's son Ryu, but for whatever reason people like to ignore this interview.
People "ignore" because that's not what the interview said.
He said that he intended to make her Ryu's mother, but dropped the idea because the editor was against it.
Obviously the original is never going to be topped but this was a decent cover.
youtube.com
Didn't Yuda torment those women into putting on facades in the anime? Everyone was still miserable, they just knew that if they showed it they'd get killed.
Do you have a typeset of the interview so I can check this? Because I remember clearly reading that one question was about who is the mother of Ryu, and Buronson explaining how it was Yuria. After this, the interviewer asks if this was just an idea since the editors didn't let him point it out directly in the manga but they guy claims it again saying she's the mother. He didn't seem to say it was an idea, he said it twice as a statement or so I've read.
Now if I'm wrong about this I'd like to see the text again. Remind me please which magazine this was if you remember, all I remember is that it was apparently from 2001 and nothing else.
Thank you editor.
Editors where only against him saying it directly in the manga. When he was asked if this was just an idea or what, he replied again that "Yuria was the mother". I don't recall any text about him droping the idea.
This is exactly what I remember from the typeset of the interview I read, but since user claimed otherwise, I now want to see the original text from the magazine. If the other user remembers the name of the magazine thumbs up, the year I already mentioned.
If you read the manga carefully you need to really ask yourself how in the hell would Kenshiro be the only one to know about the child after he and Yuria left alone to live in seclusion. He was the one who brought the kid to his adoptive parents after he went onto his little adventures after Yuria's death. He and Yuria lived in seclusion, didn't buzz around or have any contact to people connected to anybody, let alone some concubines of Raoh. This claim of Yuria being the mother is the only one that also corresponds with the logic of the story in the manga.
But if its true when was he born. There was no time for Yuria to get pregnant and giving birth. Its been a while but Roah only had Yuria for few days I think. And even if Ryu was born at the time Kenshiro lived with Yuria why give him away? Yuria being the mother doesnt make any sense.
The anime made some positive changes from the manga
>shin gets much more screentime and you actually get to see how obsessed he is with yuria
>ryuga doesnt murder a bunch of innocent people
>some of the fights are extended and much more memorable
>had Yuria for few days I think
Not really, in the anime it's easy to mistake it for a few days. Read the manga, it was longer than that, you can clearly see that from Ken's waiting for an invitation. On top of that, Kenshiro entered the castle where Yuria was when Raoh was away and only demanded to see Raoh, you don't get there in 1 days. When he found out Raoh wasn't there, he left. In order to not make it seem like he abandoned Yuria, the changed the castle into another location in the anime.
Also it takes 10 minutes to make a baby user.
>Yuria being the mother doesnt make any sense.
Many things aren't directly said in the manga but it doesn't make them any less true. Yuria being the mother is the only option the makes sense if you read the manga. It was never specified when exactly Ken gave the child to that pair but since he couldn't take care of him when he went onto his journeys, Yuria was literally dying during those last years, and the child was clearly born after Raoh death.
I haven't found the 2001 interview but I did find the 2013:
hokuto-no-ken.jp
Here you see Buronson and the interviewer chit chatting. Rune readers welcome, I'm only an amateur translator here.
When the dude asks him who's the mother he first replies "it isn't said who's the mother in the manga". Interviewer asks again making jokes about all the possible women, including Yuria and even Mamia, and Buronson answers: "I wonder if it's Yuria huh?"
Interviewer questions this, wonders how this corresponds to the story (he doesn't seem thrilled) and how that could the child both the Nanto and Hokuto heir, and Buronson replies again in a joking tone "It's possible".
It was never said in the manga because of the editors. There retards specifically gave an explanation how "this would make Raoh a rapist" and that was their reason. This was not the first time Buronson replied directly, or in a joking tone, that Yuria is the mother
Also forgot to specify: the reason why I called it a joking tone is not because the dude's joking in the interview, it's because he seems to use questions to tease the interviewer for ignoring the obvious.
Translate accurately what's there, and compare it with the manga. For that other interview I suggest some of you other interested anons go look for it.
Criminally underrated song
youtube.com
Raoh thought Yuria was dead for a while, so he could have just slept with some whore. The manga's pacing for the final battles is really tight, and by that point Raoh's only thoughts were fear and wanting to regain his iron will.
Could have is the keyword here. But that doesn't explain how a lost and wandering Yuria and Kenshiro found a child of Raoh and some whore, and Kenshiro brought this mystery child "that no one else except Kenshiro knew about, not even Raohs closest generals" (canonically pointed out fact in the manga) to his adoptive parents before he sodded off.
Even when Ken meets up with one of Raoh generals the first thing the dude says is "oh shit nigga we didn't hear anything from Raoh after he took Lady Julia with him and fucked off somewhere, what happened dude?". They didn't even know the fuck was dead, all they remembered he took Yuria and fucked off.
Then Ken answers "Yeah fag, well Raoh is dead and this kid here is his son". General: "fuck me"
>only thoughts were fear and wanting to regain his iron will
The reason why the manga concentrates on Raohs fights is because that is what the mangas tone and story is centered around, that doesn't mean he doesn't eat, shit, piss and fuck in the meanwhile. Even when Kenshiro talks to that Baran dude he explains how "Raoh gave up his life for a love" (Yuria in the manga), "purposely allowed himself to be defeated" and "how this kid Ryu is the last thing left of Raoh and Raoh will always be with him or some shit". I mean, he doesn't need to say it directly, it takes a functional IQ and a reading comprehension to figure it out.
No wonder Buronson talks to the interviewer like to a fucking idiot, with short concise answers.
All stupid reasons against it I heard so far are copy pastas of things from peoples blog posts, like this:
>There was no time for Yuria to get pregnant and giving birth
That was literally the words of some japanese tumblina who was complaining about rape. Unfortunately no one explained to her that babies are made from ejaculation which takes a few seconds in some sad cases.
There exist make retard excuses against this, but the moment they start making sense I'm putting my hat down.
Um didn't Yuria An Hero??? I am going to WHAT big time if she some how got bettered.
She totally failed heroing, some fat turd saves her during her fall.
Well shit, it was kind of REALLY suspicious that Shin would say that she jumped and Ken wouldn't looked for the body.
Oh, sorry for the previous post, YES he did say "Yuria is the mother of Ryu" literally, not that it "was dropped" nor "an idea", but that it was obscured in the manga because it's was in Weeky Shonen Jump and they couldn't point it out directly.
Buronson: "Ryu was a child of Yulia and Raoh, but because it was WSJ, it could only be obscured".
I hope you're satisfied with this, and if not, make sure to post your complaint.
There are several interviews, and in all of them, Yuria is still the mother. Wake me up when me invents a new mom.
I love the shit out of Hokuto No Ken. I get chills every time I watch the Raoh sendoff. His shout as he punches the sky is so fucking great. The VA's, OST and certain fights make the series.
I am hearing a lot of people throwing around the words "classic" and "influential" but no one has mentioned Kinnikuman.
Kinnikuman was the first shonen to have characters yell out the names of their big epic signature finishing moves, it also had huge tournament arcs, bloodlines and many other concepts and tropes seen in later anime
Yeah, doesn't change the fact that HnK is influential as fuck
It really wasn’t. It was a boring as fuck just like any other shonen but
OLD GOOD
NEW BAD
>Akira Kamiya
>voices Kinnikuman
>voices Kenshiro
>voices pic related
What did he mean by this?
Any love for the incomplete dubbed series? The VA was awful but the change in music really shifted the mood and feel of the world towards something more post-apocalyptic.
Kinnikuman and Fist of the North Star popularized every major battle shounen thing that originally came from Ring Ni Kakero and loosely Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daishou. I agree it should be held in high regard but the shitters on Yea Forums are never going to give it them time of day.
Fist of the North Star is an overall better Manga but Kinnikuman is still the best Battle Shounen to this day.
well he did ripped off Hnk but with worse anatomy in the beginning and when full homo in part 2.
>Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daishou
I hate it when people mention this manga because literally nobody has read it
Is Fist 2 (anime) canon?
yeah
it's a yaoi romance story for girls, that's why it has the acclaim.
Shit opinion and shit taste.
Any webms or gifs of when Ryuuga goes Ice Cream man on niggas?
If you're referring to the Toei anime, the music, animation, and voice acting is what makes it stand out compared to most adaptations, in my opinion.
about to give this a try and put one piece down for a bit while i wait for the wano arc to get animated, ive only heard good things about this anime so i know itll be good
It was a good manga that rode a trend(mad max) and mixed it well with good writing, interesting concepts and lots of ultra violence.
It was also at the time when you could market that shit to kids, so it could be more than some seinen that everybody loves but doesn't really talk about.
>But I don't thing Dororo was in love with Hyakkimaru
She was, that's why she got pissed when Hyakkimaru did shit like call women pretty.
>The anime is garbage and less said about the gutter trash Gaidens the better.
I liked Jagi Gaiden.
The 80's stopped and Saint Seiya showed japs that you could tap into the female market by making all the male characters lithe pretty boys.
Not him, but FoTBS made no fucking sense because Kasumi was as big of a moral fag as Ken but was a-okay with his bosses doing utterly heinous shit.
Made him really hard to root for.
A lot of people can replicate and even improve Toriyama's style. Toriyama is one of the most overrated artists of all because "muh nostalgia/muh first animu"
This thread is easing my sadness. Thoughts about Otokojuku manga or anime? Or perhaps others Akira Miyashita works? Would Edajima give a proper challenge to Kenshiro?
>tfw the closest we get to 80's manliness is Toriko and it's dead
80's retroshit is huge now. Why can't we have a manime resurgence?
Daigouin Jaki? Is this from his gaiden?
Source or never happened.
I'm pretending to. Future Kenshiro idea looks dope.
False. Ken was just too naive and didn't had the killing intent to finish off Shin, that was his best friend. After wandering on the wasteland, witness a lot of pain, misery and other suffering, mainly caused by Shin, and then when thinking that Shin killed her, Kenshiro got rid of these feelings completely and easily destroyed Shin. Still, he had a long way to go, a lot to learn until got able to face Raoh equally.
And then some db retards keep repeating that Dragon Ball invented everything.
i really liked the Anime up until the part they have to go to the fucking mountains.
it turned into a straight HnK ripoff.
I read hokuto no ken. manliness is not only about muscles, its about intelligence in narrative about men doing manly things. and hokuto no ken is pretty stupid for the most part.
>hat was literally the words of some japanese tumblina who was complaining about rape. Unfortunately no one explained to her that babies are made from ejaculation which takes a few seconds in some sad cases.
>There exist make retard excuses against this, but the moment they start making sense I'm putting my hat down.
If Raoh knocked her up during the time he had her she would have given birth to Ryu on her journey with Kenshiro. I highly doubt Kenshiro would separate mother and child after all Yuria didn't have long to live. Also the actions of Raoh would make less sense if he had done it. I always thought he wanted to do it with Yuria but her compassion and acceptance of the circumstances impressed him and drove him to seek a different kind of strength thus achieving musou tensei.
Couldn't they have just found the child after they left everyone else, then brought the kid to a good home? The very fact that Yuria would die soon meant that he'd have only had Ken as a parent if Ken and Yuria adopted him anyway.
There's no real "ah, that makes sense" moment to justify that angle. The kid really could be unrelated. Really, "Kenshiro rent free in his head" Raoh isn't believable as having sex in any form anyway. His mind was hellbent on martial violence at that point. Neither is him even caring about relationships or sex if Yuria is gone. HNK 2 just stinks and makes no sense in almost every regard.
Anyone remember the video where they spliced all the instances that Lin said "keeennn!" ?
Shura Arc should've ended with Han.
Motherfucker fought Ken because he was BORED and had nothing better to do.
>She was the Last Nanto General (But we don't even know what her abilities were)
Yeah, I expected her to at least be able to perform surgery on people with her hands in true Nanto fashion. It is a shame that women can't fight in HnK except for Mamia's toy attacks.
Kung-fu Jesus is the best Jesus.
I really wish more of the Jaki Gaiden would get scanlated.
>O MY HOKUTO SOKE STATUE
>O MY KENTO SHADAN
It's the world record of asspullery
Nah, it's the publisher that force araki to do that. He was young and nobody knew if jojo series would be popular.
Shin and Ken being friends is anime only. It actually makes no sense for them to be friends since Shin clearly hates Kenshiro
It's kind of a condensed retelling of everything up until the first Raoh fight.
It has amazing animation.
I would love to see the entire series dubbed. Well-dubbed though, none of that funimation shit.
>If people do things you don't like then just kill them with yuor superpowers lmao
Whoa...
What a deep and thought provoking story...
His mechanical designs were always gold though.
I don't get why it's so formulaic.
Like in every arc there's some guys that die heroically but at the end they survive, they do that like ten times, even in the movie. What's the point if you know it's always the same, there's no dramatism.
In the other hand I really liked the first episodes.
Now I'm not saying HnK is Nobel Prize material, but you have to be a braindead huehue to actually believe this is what it's about.
For me the emotional weight carried the show past the first episodes, I mean when he reaches the high tier villains and heroes that actually have individual motivations and stories that interact and intertwine with kenshiro. Like blind guy and the pyramid villain or mr cloud man. But it is of course very formulaic.
Also wanted to add: I think it has too many flashbacks. Some of them explaining the past are nice for clarity and character development, but from what I remember there was a shit ton of flashbacks, and flashbacks generally don't do anything to drive the story forward.
But I was talking about Otokojuku, I don't think HnK is formulaic at all.
Rei is best boy.
I really like more or less ever Otokojuku series. It combines elements of Kinnikuman and FotNS and keeps things original somehow and it's great.
Yeah. It's good so far but the Date Omiti Gaiden is better.
Because that's literally the only thing we get of Jago being portrayed as human.
NANI!?
so how many prefer the gaiden's portrayal of Jagi over the canon (forgot which guidebook said that) Jagi's only there to be kenshiro's "he's evil so beat him up" punching bag in the hokuto school?
Toki doesn't need to be best boy because he is Karate Jesus.
I always thought Vaga's Claw was undeniably a nod to Enter the Dragon. I mean come on, look at it for fucks sake.
>Kenshiro literally got cucked, Raoh raped his fiance and made her bear him a son
Suddenly Raoh got a lot less sympathetic.
I much prefer the gaiden portrayal, because it paints Jagi's flaw as being impatient and hedonistic rather than just being evil.
Plus the story with how he fell in with the biker gang, found and lost love made you feel for him somewhat.
It is. Obviously fighting games take lots of inspiration from Bruce Lee movies
Ok great, based on what did you make this conclusions?
All I can say to you is read the manga INDEPENDENTLY of the animes and the gaidens.
How did Yuria and Kenshiro travel?
When you see the flashback scene Ken had you clearly see him and Yuria completely lost, confused, isolated and not knowing anybody or having a clue where to go. They receive help from a random dude who shows pity on them, they purposely don't tell their backgrounds and no one knows anything about another (very important detail), and they go into the isolated hut in the hills the dude offers them.
No, Ken or Yuria couldn't have known about anyone related to Raoh, they where alone, and Ken was the one who kept the secret of the child and delivered it to the adoptive pair when the need arose.
As for the actual claims of both author and artist, here's your canon:
Buronson interview from 200-2005:
"Ryu was a child of Yulia and Raoh, but because it was Shonen Jump, it could only be obscured".
(some 2001 interview, look for the name of the magazine yourself, I'm done spoon-feeding)
Tetsuo Hara in a DVD interview around 2007-8:
"Interviewer asks him about Ryu"
Tetsuo Hara: talks about Ryu and calls him the "child of Yuria", and continues to call him "Yuria's child" instead of "Ryu" or Raoh's son".
(source: inside the DVD's)
Buronson in 2013:
Interviewer: who the mom?
Buronson: "Could it be Yuria, do you think"
Interviewer: but is that possible, because wall of text and personal theories
Buronson: It's completely possible.
hokuto-no-ken.jp
Any questions? Both authors directly said "The mother is Yuria", they never claimed it was an abandoned idea like some shitposting user her said, and Hara directly calls the kid "Yuria's son" instead of "Raoh's son".
As for idiotic theories against this, allow me to quote Buronson yes it corresponds with the manga, so go and read it.
Can anyone tell me why Kamiya hasn't reprised his role for Kenshiro in a long time?
So far I heard three theories:
1. He had a falling out with Hara and the co-creator, because they hated his perfomance. And the hate each other so much now that Hara and him try to keep Kamiya as far away as possible.
2. Health related issues. Kamiya has been getting older and this also causes his voice to become strained a lot. So he is not able to perform as good as Kenshiro anymore as he used to.
3. He has become to expensive to be booked anymore. And has unrealistically high expectaions if you want to get him to voice something.
All theories are kinda wonky.
Yeah.
and other movies too
>Suddenly Raoh got a lot more based
It's not rape if she smiled.
I guess I just don't like those tropes were in the last moment the antagonist cucks the mc with the main girl. Reading the manga Raoh never seemed the person to do it. After defeating Kenshiro or in the time before meeting Ken again would have been fine. But he lost his ambitions and changed thus giving his live to Yuria to give her a bit happiness. Which is why someone before said that her being Ryus mother is a abandoned idea it doesn't fit with what we got at the end.
That said making Yuria the mother leaves few plotholes. The biggest being why was Ryu left alone? One would expect Yuria would want to raise her child by herself and not someone else. Especially when she was supposed to die and left him in a dangerous wasteland. Maybe a baby couldn't survive the short journey Ken and Yuria went through which I doubt.
The discussion about who the mother is show a common weakness in manga. The author always wants to push in a last often half realized twist not fully seeing how this changes the manga for the worse.
They weren't enemies before the war.
So another inspiration for Berserk huh?
Well, that's part of the Otokojuku "parody attempt" of Hokuto. I honestly find all that bullshit martial arts and backstories hilarious.
Is it full translated by now? Can you provide me some links?
To know that my favorite protagonist hero from my favorite serie and my favorite couple got cucked...I still have some doubts since I can't read those moon runes. Couldn't Ken's life be shit enough? And what about Kenshiro Den when Yuria was pregnant but only have a few months of live? Also, far as I know, Yuria didn't had much time to live. This feels forced, like something they wanted to put on the story but actually couldn't.
>Hated his awesome performance.
Wtf? How so?
Nah, I have seen what characters kids these days are into. It's either that houseki no cucky epic trannie worship or muh mikasa
Hokuto no Gun is doing the Date Omito and Daigoun Jaki Gaidens. I think they are nearly up to date with the Date Omito one but both are currently on going.
Cool digits bra but... The HnK world is specific and you really missed the point of the logic of it's universe.
It wasn't some half realized twist by the author, read carefully.
We don't know when exactly Ken brought the child to the pair, and it's not implied at all the kid didn't live it's toddler years with the mother.
As for cucking Kenshiro, it's not cucking in the HnK universe. He directly asks Ken "did you give up on Yuria?" because it's a question of "having a woman"/sex, not love. Ken really could have taken Yuria when he entered the castle and Raoh wasn't there, but he didn't because he wan't the defeat Raoh first. Ken follows the logic of this world as well.
What manga have you been reading honestly? It's a world that has been reverted to it's primal basis, and more than 4 times you have implications of a different "positive" morality from what we have today.
Secondly, in this world the winner of a duel gets the prize, and mostly this is a woman if you've been reading correctly. This is not depicted as a negative thing though.
Raoh never claims to love Yuria or give a fuck about her, he outwardly jells he'll kill her if she doesn't obey him and Yuria is brought up in a controversial manner and she clearly understands the logic of this world.
He admits to the entire world he's obsessed with Yuria and doesn't hide it, but in the same time this in his perception doesn't have jack shit to do with love. So he's obsessed from a sexual standpoint. At the flashback moment before the Ken fight, we see him all of a sudden question weather he's suddenly perhaps in love with her, since he gives a shit about her life and well being all of a sudden. That was the point of that scene, love is not equal to sexual obsession, and he admitted to have been insane about her through the entire manga.
In the end he fell in love with his prize and suffered obvious depression after he realized she will not live that long.
Don't judge it from a different worlds logic.
Don't know either, but apparently they did. Another group of people who disliked his performance where some of the yakuza game staff. They deemed the voice unfitting and prefered a much deeper voice for Kenshiro.
lucky thread
I still don't buy it duo Yuria's short lifetime.
>Yuria didn't had much time to live
She lived a full couple of years actually, call me lazy but I don't feel like scrolling through the manga now.
It was around 3-5 years approximate due to Raoh's magic asspull life-prolonging trick.
I remember it being months, not years.
>Yuria's short lifetime
She lives several years retard.
In the flashback scene she tells Ken "these few years with you I've found peace", and in the earlier flashback scene in the conversation with Bat Ken again points out she lived a couple of years.
You know those couple of short arcs after Kaioh are kinda comfy, don't you think?
youtube.com
Was there ever an OP as godly as this?
>As for cucking Kenshiro, it's not cucking in the HnK universe. He directly asks Ken "did you give up on Yuria?" because it's a question of "having a woman"/sex, not love. Ken really could have taken Yuria when he entered the castle and Raoh wasn't there, but he didn't because he wan't the defeat Raoh first. Ken follows the logic of this world as well.
that is the reason why I think Raoh didn't do Yuria then. He had lost to Kenshiro and was slowly realizing that he too was competing for Yurias love and she was not a simple trophy to fuck and keep around. He too was bound by the rules of the world as you say. Raoh changed after he kidnapped Yuria and it seemed unlikely that he would do her considering he the lost match with Kenshiro and a weird sense of honor and admiration for Yuria kept him at bay.
Never watched it before. sub or dub?
Only Cha-La Head-Cha-La comes close
Sub.
Only Smile Bomb comes close.*
Sub is always the only right choice
Can you guys stop trying to force your cuck fetish into the series? This shit doesn't makes sense and done! It it gets canon then they will officially put into the story. The end.
sub all the way
I remember someone posted a mega for all episodes subbed and in high quality. Look in the archive.
The anime isn't entirely dubbed. Go to the sub.
Sure if you take it literally and only chose to concentrate only on that. But none of the two men imidiately decided what stance they have on this particular issue, they change their mood and opinions like every other man. I'm really starting to doubt anyone here read the damn manga.
Raoh and Ken's first fight was interrupted for one. Secondly, when Raoh was faced with two choices: grab Yuria or fight Ken, he chose Yuria. He clearly states this several times in the tower. When he gets her he never runs back to defeat Ken, he jells happily because he got what he wanted and then he pissed off with her.
Ken on the other hand was given a choice in the tower: run away with Yuria or face Raoh. Even Raoh asks him if he's stupid for not choosing Yuria instead.
Either way, if it where up to us to judge from such singular elements it's be a headcannon disaster like all the other morally complaining retards. But considering Raoh has a child that has been stated was mothered by Yuria on numerous occasions and that only Ken knew the existence of, you can't treat this as some open issue that is left to debate.
This manga has ended in the 80's before any of us where born, and is not some ongoing crap. This cretenic blog mentality that this is an issue open to rewriting is simply not looking at the content from a mature perspective. If you want a Shonen plot where simple kiddy morality is applied then don't read Hokuto no Ken, go read BnhA or some trash.
Only Based Cobra.

Ok great. Who knows, maybe Buronson changes this detail as well. It's all open to change niggas, just don't accidentally put anything controversial into my 80's mango.
Sarabada aniki!
Why the fuck are Raoh's hair black in the anime?
Nationalism. Best not propagate filthy westerners with their light hair and blue-green eyes.
I have heard all of those theories. I also read an account on an old, dead forum I don't remember the name of from a fan who met him at some US anime convention or something and asked him about it and he gave the impression that he himself was completely in the dark about why he was replaced, although that could have easily been a bullshit made up story but whatever. I sperged out about Kamiya being replaced a long time ago and even today it still bugs me, he helped bring Kenshiro to life and he was just ripped away from the character without any explanation as to why.
We'll probably never know. Anyway, none of the replacement voices have even come close in my opinion.
The English dub is bad and incomplete. There are other dubs of the show in other languages of varying quality- the Italian seems alright while the French version is a stupid parody dub because the French actors thought they were too good to do the show properly.
While I agree that he is untouched, you have to admit that the guy who voiced him in Jump Force at least does a good enough job.
Oh right. Yeah, that guy was good. I don't know what they were thinking when they got Takehito Koyasu for Shin Hokuto no Ken, though. That was TERRIBLE.
You really think so?
Here is my list from bad to good.
>Hiroshi Abe (ova)
>Takaya Kuroda (Lost Paradise)
>Takehito Koyasu (Shin Hokuto no Ken)
>Katsuyuki Konishi (Ken's Rage 1/2; Jstars; Jump Force)
>Akira Kamiya (Hokuto no Ken 1/2)
>This manga has ended in the 80's before any of us where born, and is not some ongoing crap. This cretenic blog mentality that this is an issue open to rewriting is simply not looking at the content from a mature perspective
It was a plot hole then, too.
My nigger, Kuroda makes a great Kenshiro.
But Kuroda doesn't voice Ken in Jump Force though. He only voices him in Lost Paradise.
I forgot to link this post
I'm retarded.
I was disappointed by the intros in Jump Force. I wanted to see Ken call Goku an idiot.
Also Kuroda is in my opinion not the best Ken. While his voice sounds great in itself, when it comes to the "Atatata" it sounds like the artifically changed it to make it work. But you do you.
The fact it doesn't have a post 2010 anime so millennials can't ruin it with their memes
Part 1 is essentially hnk with sunbros and vampires
The worst part is that a lot of Kenshiro's lines are just re-used lines from the anime / manga.
Trunks: This is what Kenshiro tells Souther while they're fighting on top of the Holy Cross Mausoleum.
Kaguya: This is what Kenshiro says to the huge cross-dressing thug AKA Giant Hag.
Sasuke This is what Kenshiro says to Raiga and Fuga, although the translation is wrong. "Rest easy. I will extinguish the flames of evil!," would've been a more proper translation.
I have read it everything avaible long ago. Stop acting like an edgy teenager. You probably measure your masculinity over fictional works. Lay off this superioty complex.
But Raoh was more pale outside the anime.
>It was a plot hole then
Only it wasn't.
Stop shitposting you moralfag retard, you received your sources so go and actually read the manga and the interviews since you obviously haven't done neither one or the other.
Yeah, his atatata is kind of weak but I think his voice works well for when Ken is speaking. If he just kept the atatata to a lower pitch I'm sure people would deal with it.
>You probably measure your masculinity
I'm a woman you fat basement dweller.
>Stop shitposting you moralfag retard
Are you seriously bitching about "muh moralfags" in a fucking HnK thread?
People have outlined how it doesn't make sense for Yuria to be the mother. The timescale is off, Raoh wouldn't do it, Kenshiro wasn't gone for the length of a whole pregnancy, etc
If you want it to be true you can keep saying it is, but that doesn't make it make any more sense.
A dyke then? It's still valid. Stoo thinking you're superior because you read some stuff and others read different things.
L O N D O N
Man, they're so generic
I agree 100%. To add to my list Kuroda beats Abe by a long shot though. Abe sounds so bored and unfitting, that it hurts to watch the ovas. Kuroda and Koyasu in my opinion are very close to one another. The only thing that keeps them apart is that Koyasu's "Atatata" sounds more genuine.
Idk why but konishi sounds souless. Lacks emotion.
I can understand why.
Given I'm biased, because I'm a Yakuza fan AND a HnK fan, but I just think it's a good fit. If Kuroda ever reprises it again I think they should just let him do a heavier atatata, since Kiryu's battle cries always sound great.
>nitpicks and invents bullshit reasons thought the whole thread against something confirmed by both authors
I believe that forcing me to spoon feed you politely, without me complaining, for half a thread and constantly inventing new crap when I waste my time giving you manga pages and sources is reason enough for me to call you a retard.
If you gave a fuck you'd look it up yourself and not make me breastfeed your ass for so long. Stop complaining all the time because a manga is not written for your modern childish logic.
It is a good fit. No denying in that one. And I completely agree, let him do his thing and people will like it.
>muh superioty
It still doesn't makes sense duo some reasons and I'm not the only one saying this. Yet you think they're all inferior because of it. You can't prove it and that's it. You're the one crying because people disagree with you. Grown up.
I really hope Lost Paradise gets a sequel. But I'm also torn, because the Yakuza writers have a terminal case of Bad Writing and I liked Kenshiro having a happy ending for once.
Maybe you can help me understand why I've lost all of my motivation to play Lost Paradise. I thought that it was supposed to be follow the same story up until Shin and then branch off into a totally alternate story. But the more I play it, the more I find it's just the same as the manga/anime but in a different setting. Souther's just started his attack on Eden so of course it's only a matter of time until Jagi and Raoh show up, especially since I already rescued Toki from Cassandra. Is there any point to continuing when I basically already know how things are going to end?
And why in the ever-living fuck are there so many fucking minigames? I'm never going to finish the main story at this rate. Colosseum fights, bounty hunting, nightclub managing, bartending (who the fuck thought Ken should be a bartender!?) dance dance rhythm, baseball and ridiculous amounts of item collection in the wasteland. It's such busywork. I want to like it, I really do. The combat is really satisfying, albeit a little repetitive, so why the fuck can't I seem to muster the enthusiasm to finish the grind?
And I want a HNK fighing game. A good one like the ps2 had. If Jojo could get an awesome fighing game, why not HNK?
>The timescale is off, Raoh wouldn't do it, Kenshiro wasn't gone for the length of a whole pregnancy
Congratulations, you just proved what a massive retard you are and that you can't deal with simple facts in both the manga and given by the authors.
Here's your (You).
Not a single thing you mentioned is true.
A warrior who's sexually craves a woman has the said woman in his private quarters from minimally one week up to a month in the manga. He saves her life by prolonging it, dies, and the woman and other man go into an abandoned hut given by some dude in the next month.
That Raoh would do it is whoreshit you pulled out of your whining ass since you're a shonen faggot who reads garbage for 10 year olds.
>Kenshiro wasn't gone for the length of a whole pregnancy
What in the blasted fuck are you even talking about?
Yeah the story of Lost Paradise wasn't that good, at least for Yakuza standards. Hope they improve it. But they gameplay was superb.
Isn't Akira Kamiya voicing Ryo in Jump Force anyway, why the fuck couldn't they just let him do Ken as well.
youtube.com
Although that source is from wikipedia so I don't know how reliable that is.
Also as far as voice acting in FotNS goes, Souther > everything.

Even in the gag parody.

>u shonenfag
Ow, the edge!
I imagine this user looking down on others because they watch Naruto or other popular stuff while feeling herself superior. How autistic.
For real, this is the worst kind of fan. Measuring his value because preferences on fictional entertainment. In the end they looking like those sasuke/shadow hedgehog fanboys. Stop trashing this thread, please.
Not him, but I know what you feel like. It feels like tried to make an original story, but ended up being like an inferior version of the main story. But they have their own unique characters that are in fact charming. Like Nadai, Jagre, Kisana and Rohan Kishibe (Targa). It suffers from the same issues as eyes of heaven storywise.
>But the gameplay was superb
The first I played it it was satisfying as fuck. Performing the different secret techniques, having them called out on-screen and watching the enemies exploding in a pool of blood was fucking A. But the more I played it the more mundane it became. Sure, you could learn more techniques but they became difficult to execute and before long you just didn't get that same sense of satisfaction.
I don't know either. That is why i am asking. They could have just let him do it, but for some reason they just didn't.
>Souther > everything
Kinda. I think Raoh in the original series is slighty better in my opinion.
>Congratulations, you just proved what a massive retard you are and that you can't deal with simple facts in both the manga and given by the authors.
Facts that seemingly only you know how to find, curiously. Got a source for any of that? Like, a concrete one?
>A warrior who's sexually craves a woman has the said woman in his private quarters from minimally one week up to a month in the manga.
You dodged the point about Raoh asking Kenshiro if he gave up on Yuria. It's an honour thing.
>That Raoh would do it is whoreshit you pulled out of your whining ass since you're a shonen faggot who reads garbage for 10 year olds.
Woah edgy. You realize that rape is considered universally bad in the world of HnK, right? It's basically how you distinguish the noble villains from the scumbags. Not only that, HnK was written on the spot, so there's no fucking way the creators planned on the Yuria gave Raoh a son angle until the assend of HnK 2.
But hey, you can flex about how you're such a hardcore mature fan. It just makes you sound like a 13 year old.
Shit, user. I wanted to buy this game. You're killing the hype.
I can understand it. To be honest, I changed up the combat and also used other moves than just the heat attacks.
>And why in the ever-living fuck are there so many fucking minigames
Welcome to Yakuza. Enjoy your stay.
Yakuza writers are full of shit, so it's not surprising. They had a writer on for the first two games, but they got canned so now we get to deal with the shitty plots.
I'm still mad about Yakuza 6.
>they watch Naruto
Holy shit, opinion discarded.
>Stop trashing this thread, please
Kek, you're truly a whining piece of trash and rather unthankful, don't you think? You've copy pasted so much false information from other fanon garbage and where corrected with actual source material numerous times in this thread, and now you're anally devastated about it?
Stay mad fag.
>Yakuza 6
I was also disappointed by the story.

Kek. You're cringe as fuck, teenager. Keep ashaming yourself then.
Bitch calm your tits
Also I didn't pasted shit. You're just obsessed. It's rare to have a nice hnk thread, yet a civilized, but you're here, insulting everyone like a revolted child.
Raoh's voice was also fucing incredible but Souther''s sounded Imperial to me, it carried real authority and could induce fear. And that laugh is 20/10.
Shame they never got him to voice Geese in KoF.
Quick, I need all the pictures of Ken and Rei together that you've got so I can use them as an example of the best bromance in anime history
>Got a source for any of that? Like, a concrete one?
Scroll you lazy fuck.
>You realize that rape is considered universally bad in the world of HnK, right?
Now what made you think it was rape user? Why would a woman who felt that she was raped by a man refer to herself as "his love" and cry her eyes out on his grave?
>It's an honour thing.
With Yuria, it was primarily an emotional and sexual thing since their childhood, and especially with Raoh. He never showed restraint with her when he chose to confront her personally.
It only later became a question of honor and love but with Kenshiro much earlier than with Raoh.
Now keep complaining, it's ok. But claims like "he wouldn't do it", "she would say no if he got intimate", "noble is this and not noble is that" is nothing more than your idiotic fan theories.
Again I repeat, read the manga if you wish to judge it's morality specter. Kaioh was also portrayed trying to fuck Lin, not doing so because he was busy talking, offering her to kill herself if she doesn't want him (honor element) and in the end he was proclaimed a hero by Ken although he brainwashed Lin into falling in love with the first dickweed she saw.
It's a complex morality and completely opposed to your Naruto logic, so fuck off and be thankful you where given your sources and (You)'s.
well, you got this guy who punches people until they explode
so that's a pretty good premise for a show
I agree that he was top notch.
>And that laugh is 20/10.
Want to know who's laugh also was amazing?
youtube.com
Yeah Shin's proper evil laugh was good, I can see the similarities between him and Part 1 Dio.
>Scroll you lazy fuck.
You spend half these shitflinging matches bragging about it. Post them again.
>Now what made you think it was rape user?
Considering the circumstances of her being abducted twice, her actual fiance almost murdered, and only agreeing to go with Shin to let him live? Yeah I have a hard time believing Yuria would spread her legs for Raoh after all that.
>With Yuria, it was primarily an emotional and sexual thing since their childhood, and especially with Raoh. He never showed restraint with her when he chose to confront her personally.
Oh, I see. You're a fucking Raoh/Yuria shipper. Crazy bitch, no wonder you're going autistic about this. Bet you self insert as Yuria, eh?
>Again I repeat, read the manga if you wish to judge it's morality specter.
I have read the manga. It's not some fucking "SHADES OF GRAY" thing like you keep trying to present it as. There are unambiguously good guys and unambiguously bad guys, and rape plays a big part in that. We know Shin isn't all bad because, while he did abduct Yuria, he didn't actually rape her. It's the bare minimum in the Hokuto world.
Shin's laugh then was 30/10. The anime had a great cast. Uighur and Yuda also had great laughs.
This girl is seething so much about it that I'm starting to believe that's nothing but her headcanons filled by her personal fanfic shipping.
Shin's seiyuu also voices Piccolo and Ace.
It's not just a Japanese trope, it's something real people in real life do. We still owe reparations to black people for slavery, Israel belongs to the Jews because God said so in 1300 BC and Slavs and Muslims are still upset with each other over Kosovo Polje.
Uighur was voiced by Daisuke Gori who is one of my favourite VAs ever. His best role will always be Heihachi though (Otokojuku > Tekken but both are great).
Those damn songs will never leave me.
>I have a hard time believing
Interesting, I don't. Weird. I think it might have something to do with personal opinions and perceptions. Quite troublesome when analyzing a apocalyptic savage patriarchal world, huh?
>while he did abduct Yuria, he didn't actually rape her.
Sure but you forgot what was revealed later in the flashback, and also you seem to ignore a few details from the first chapters. There we see that Shin had the opposite stance from Raoh: he wanted Yuria to be his equal, for her to act like a ruler. This eventually put such pressure on her she jumped off the edge. Also, in the flashback, we see him talking to Rihaku and co from the Nanto, they obviously also wanted to turn Yuria into a ruler like Shin did and all of them conspired to keep her away from Raoh. Why? Raoh was the exact opposite of Shin in every way and wanted that all be subjected to him.
You should go argue with Hara, Buronson, not me.
Here's a fun theory: what if Yuria was more submissive and complacent from loosing hope after she found out she was dying? Did you ever think of that? Since you like theories, I'm giving you this option.
Kindly don't discard people's given arguments based on sides and ship rubbish. I hope you're not the user who started mentioning some Naruto rubbish I can't even comment on. What is in the manga truly doesn't contradict the few statements of Hara and Buronson, it's all personal opinions and views of morality in most cases.
>Post them again.
>you self insert as Yuria
>is the exact opposite from Yuri-a
Honestly, I wouldn't survive 3 seconds in that world due to my big mouth and temper, but neither would you. Also, no.
hokuto-no-ken.jp
Interviewer: Yuria's not that kind of woman, she would never... could it possibly be Mamia?
Buronson: Could it possible be Yuria?
Interviewer: but is it possible...
Buronson: It's possible.
Kindly stop whining.
I mean on a individual level, and the specific trope. When a single character modifies his entire mind, life and behavior based on this grievance. I'd like to see more of that, it gives the character passion and makes thinks more complex and demanding.
the simplist explanation.......ken held back against shin in thier first fight. Ken was a lil bitch “holding back”, shin was not. It was almost like a “potential unlock” when ken lost to shin. Ken always had a shit ton of potential but he was always a softy several characters comment on ken’s changed demeanor (shin, jaggy, roah)
RIP Daisuki. He got a sad ending.
I can't read moon runes. You can still be inventing these stuff. It's so sad that no one is agreeing with you :( perhaps your day will come and people will start to respect you more. For now I believe this will be your last (you) edgy kid, "dattebayo".
>You can still be inventing these stuff.
1) The entire Japanese internet is loaded with typesets of the 2001-2005 interview.
The Japanese wiki talks about this interview, but doesn't source it by name (why it was also difficult for me to remember the name of the first magazine which I still didn't find)
3) The DVD's with Tetsuo Hara calling Ryu Yuria's son are available to everyone, go buy them yourself or ask a nip. So its directly available for you to check.
4) The interview of 2013 it right there on the official site under your nose.
Everything is directly available, only the first interview is available in typeset form on various unofficial sites but not a direct scan of the magazine.
If that'll be all, I'm also giving you your last (You) user. I didn't mind the disagreement in opinion but when you started posting false basic info from the manga, after half a thread, it kinda became insulting. I wish you didn't make me open 10 fucking .cbr's to prove you got details wrong and browse nip just because you where lazy.
>With Yuria, it was primarily an emotional and sexual thing since their childhood, and especially with Raoh. He never showed restraint with her when he chose to confront her personally.
>It only later became a question of honor and love but with Kenshiro much earlier than with Raoh.
you are underplaying the character development Roah went through in his capture of Yuria. He was losing against Kenshiro escaping with Yuria leads to him being nursed back to health by Yuria and being pitied by her. As he states himself he cant have the love of Yuria and its only a one sided love. Upon realization who he is and what sad fate Yuria herself accepted without any complains he is moved and decides to act to prolong the life of his love and give her happiness.
Now that it all is said how would it be if Roah after he was nursed by Yuria goes and fucks her? Where has his character development his realization of one own weakness gone? Afterwards go goes and fights Fudoh to try and get stronger which also backfires. There he has another chance to fuck Yuria who willing would accept her fate for she never goes against her own fate. Instead Roah decides that killing her would allow him to know the same sadness Kenshiro feels and achieve muso tensei. After doing his magic he takes Yuria and goes away. Now another chance to fuck her but would the Roah we know now do it? Fuck no. He accepts that Yuria doesn't love him and goes to seeks to be defeated by Kenshiro in order to grand Yuria happiness he himself cant.
Thread ruined by nitpicking autism and headcanon
Never change Yea Forums
Sure but HnK is more like Arnold action movies at the time manliness.
just use google translate.
I still find it out of character and would take it more as a story line the author wasn't allowed to follow. It ruins Raoh for me since he directly contradict his own character development.
also fuck I shouldn't write in vim..
Who the hell is Roah?
Well, what you just did is give your interpretation of the events you saw. "He had a chance to fuck her here, and then he had a chance here". Actually user, you don't know how many chances he had because the events do not follow immediately after another, you perceived it that way due to the manga's pacing issues. These weren't events happening in 4-5 days, they where key events that where crucial to the seinen fighting tone.
>As he states himself he cant have the love of Yuria and its only a one sided love
Which scene are you talking about? If you're talking about scenes where characters give speeches, like the one above Toh's corpse where he says "Yuria will know death if she refuses my love", those are symbolic. They do not imply that if Yuria tells Raoh "Hey, I don't actually love you, I'm going to the bathroom now" that he'd kill her. They're symbolic and are there to demonstrate his approach to things.
The whole issue with fighting Fudoh was not to get stronger if you remember, he fights him in order to defeat a fear he was ashamed of since childhood. The reason being that Yuria's compassion insulted him on a personal level, he even explains it when he kills his servant. These are all elements of the typical Japanese warrior issues, they hate pity, compassion, get offended easily. The issue with Fudoh has little to do with Yuria for Raoh, he wanted to prove to himself he wasn't the same scared kid anymore.
Scenes do not follow immediately one after the other without offscreen content existing is what I'm trying to tell you, because I feel that's what you're saying here. Let me give you an example: in the anime it seems that Raoh immediately returned from fighting Fudoh and had that confrontation on the balcony on the same day. Now go read the manga and tell me those two scenes followed on the same day?
I hope you get what I'm saying. The rest is personal opinion.
Shura Arc shouldn't have even happened. The stuff with Falco before it was dumb as well (Lin being the long lost twin of an empress? what?) and Falco himself being cool doesn't change that.
Cool user but that's just one interview for example. The reason the interviewer is even talking so much is because he's bringing up Buronson's previous statement from other interviews.
For me for example Raoh killing himself was out of character. But Buronson has a convenient explanation for that too on several occasions though other character's opinions, especially in the last chapters where Ken fights that Baran guy. I still don't buy it as believable especially when speeches start, and this manga is full of them.
Like Muso Tensei is actually a state of deep grief and depression. The stuff starts making sense but it's still just convenience in my eyes.
If it was going to get a sequel it would've been announced by now, it took a while to hit the west but it's not a new game. Yakuza dev team have already moved on to other things (they'll probably make that Judgement game a series since that was an actual financial success for them).
I'd like for the Tekken guys to try making a good 3D HnK game personally. Hara seems to like Tekken to some degree too, he drew pic related not too long ago (looks pretty good for someone whose eyes are apparently completely fucked)
It's pretty obvious in the manga that this was what happened. Rei just bursts in out of nowhere to deliver the retcon exposition in that arc.
>every time the fucking expressions are the same
>awkward gaps between dialogue
Did anybody expected this game to be good?
Also i think Kamiya did not wanted to voice Kenshiro anymore due to payment issues and age.
Tezuka's Black Jack had it too and probably was a more popular example of it. Also in the case of HnK I thought Lin wasn't shown to have fallen for Ken until very late in the series after she had grown up anyway?
>Arena Fighter
>Expecting it to be good
No.
The one where he ends up in some other kingdom and fights that one dude with glam rock hair was pretty cool. Said guy had a really contrived connection to Raoh but even so, it was fun for what it was.
Kenshiro was ripped off Bruce Lee
what now
The Rei gaiden wasn't that bad.
I think Hara & Buronson actually really like the Raoh Gaiden in particular and included that one chick into the modern recap movies, but I haven't watched it so I dunno if it was good or not (would rather read the manga but it hasn't been scanlated...)
Yeah. Ken was not just a rip off of Lee, he was also based on Mad Max in the first chapters, then merged with Burce Lee. You can even see Lee's thick eyebrows disappearing from Ken gradually, until he got far thinner ones.
Hara had a tendency to pick up new reference models depending on the time he was working in, and would sometimes use the new models not just for one but several characters. I'm absolutely positive in the post Raoh sagas I saw glimpses of Stalone in more than one character including Ken.
The dub is incomplete, and is also fucking ridiculous. The Fonz voices Kenshiro and Raoh sounds like a weird cartoony villain. Go for the sub
Rei's voice actor is also really good.
Thanks for making a propper and polite answer, user, unlike that raging dyke that was insulting everyone disagreeing with her.
Kenshiro in Tekken 7 would be dope. Imagine Ken Vs Akuma.
>Fist of the North Star is an overall better Manga
Kinnikuman didn't go to shit immediately in the latter half of the manga so that can't possibly be true.
>so millennials can't ruin it with their memes
Should I tell him?
>dyke
You take that back user.
Stallone and Arnold both. All the good anime of the time are basically a mixture or straight copy to varying degrees of films like Rambo, Terminator, Blade Runner, Aliens, Robocop, Total Recall, Mad Max, Conan, Army of Darkness and so on. I don't even blame them, seeing all those movies in succession on the big screen, in the 80s, would send every good little copycat artist into a frenzy. We got so many good anime out of it, but make no mistake about it, it's all very inspired by all the cheesy action and sci-fi movies of the time.
>Yea Forums tells me this is one of the best fighting anime ever
>the actual fighting is lame and redundant
based hunterchad
That series has shit fighting too. "All according to keikaku" is cancer in its own right.

Top 3 evil laughs
1. Shin
2. Souther
3. Uighur
>Fist of the North Star
>complex morality
Though it would be the last (you). Guess you couldn't resist, uh?
Shin and Yuda had similar laughs.
This, based trips.
But it had a few fights that felt believable like the start of the Kaioh saga where that kid spins from afar and owns Falco.
Then Kaioh vs Ken final fight when he avoids falling into the lava, spins, blocks thrusts from Ken with his bare muscle. It felt real for a short while until the "omae wa mo" happened.
Are there any physical English translations of the manga?
All I've seen was the ebook kickstarter.
>couldn't resist
Look who's talking.
based my hero academia chad
Toki represents that role but after him, Kenshiro is the one who represents the role of Messiah.
Don't insult me.

It was released in japan like a year ago.
ok then just fuck out of here if you don't like hokuto no ken and have shit taste

Are you fags gonna break out the "NO U" macros with the deformed chinaman next? That's a classic, I'll ya whut.
Holy shit he was right, I forgot about Pinoko. BJ got seriously creepy sometimes, I dread to even mention how pedo it got. Innocent unsuspecting anons should forever remain oblivious.
