Real answer, it very much depends on what metric White Fox plans to use for how much content it wants to adapt. What I mean by that is, the first season of the anime covered three of Re:Zero's eleven "arcs," and was approximately 10 volumes of content. That leaves White Fox with a choice; either they commit to covering three more arcs with season 2, or they just adapt 10 more volumes, which would be 2 arcs this time around.

If they adapt by the first metric, then we're still a few years out, since the LN hasn't even started arc 6 yet. They might elect to go with this route, since the animeonly fanbase will be assblasted if Rem doesn't get her big return in season 2.

If they adapt by the second metric, which I think is more likely, then an announcement for the second season might well be right around the corner. The LN version of arc 5 is one or two volumes from completion, and that part of the story is full of the kind of climactic battle scenes that would suit a season finale.

Now, a proper adaptation of the WN version of arc 4 might be difficult even with 2 cours, but that's not going to happen, so there's no point in discussing it. Like I said, the available options are:

1. A slightly butchered 2 cour that covers arcs 4 and 5. (Likely)

2. A grotesquely butchered 2 cour that covers arcs 4, 5, and 6. (Less likely, but not impossible)
