Hideaki Anno, founder of Studio Khara, recently renamed to Studio Kharax after winning the X from studio Gainax in a legal battle.

However disgruntled fans of the Eva series will start referring to it as Studio Kharax-ident after 4.0 comes out and pisses them off all over again.

Gainax built a studio is fukushima to help with the natural disaster, which was a nice gesture but also crazy since in 2015 they were at the lowest point, with almost every one of their talents out of the studio. Eventually at 2018 that branch was bought out and moved to tokyo, it's no longer associated with gainax, but some of gainax old projects are now there. The original Gainax still stands, but it's been out of work for half a decade.

The amazing talented people have already moved on, so it's nothing but the name now, so I don't mind, but I don't like the chance that during the studio's death cycle it would try to cling on to older titles. It would be a lot sadder to see a souless attempt at a sequal to every property they ever had than them just closing doors.

Well at least anno took the rights to eva so they can't do something like what they did with patit eva. absolute atrocity.

Apparently whatever skeleton crew is still at Gainax is supposed to producing a series of new Leiji Matsumoto films in the next few years.

Which is just so ironically cyclical considering how most of their founders and eventual stars were so heavily inspired by the Leiji Matsumoto Adaptations of the 70s that they built Studio Gainax to pay homage to and build their own ideas on top of their love for his work. Now years after all those founders and stars have split off and abandoned the studio somehow reboots of the series that sparked the creation of the studio have made it back into the hands of the nobodies who stuck around.
