Isabella is a harsh opponent of nepotism.

It was never meant to trick you. It was very intentional. That's why they had him go to a room, which we hadn't seen before, then just left him out of the story for a while before nonchalantly reintroducing him.
The point was for us to wonder what actually happened, not to assume he had been killed.
It was obvious for a number of reasons, like that he was shipped early despite us knowing he was meant not to be, and the fact that the new element of the room was added to the shipping process.

I've kind of stopped caring about how the anime cut stuff from the manga.
The lack of inner monologue and flashbacks and all that hurt the suspense and drama, but the anime's visual direction is great, and the music is excellent.
I can just fill in the blanks with what I know from the manga, so whatever.
I just hope they get the big reveals in the last few chapters right, because we need to see the flashbacks about Mama and Leslie for stuff like Ray humming her melody to really have impact. If they can nail these last two episodes, I guess I'd be happy with the anime overall.

Man, the anime is really missing a lot of the subtle things from the manga.
They totally misunderstood this part.
I didn't even notice it my first time reading it, but if you look closely, Norman is actually pointing to the spot they use the ropes to cross when he says you'll have to cross here.
The author tricks you into thinking he's talking about the bridge because he just mentioned it, but he is literally speaking when he says "here" and points to the quadrant they actually cross at.
That blew my mind on a repeat reading, and I was hoping the anime would have picked up on it, but now it's gonna feel like Norman was just incorrect about them having to escape through the bridge, rather than it feeling like he had this all planned out, which is actually what happened.

I want them to fuck so badly. I want Emma to lovingly cuddle him, lulling Norman into a false sense of security, before flipping him over without a warning and making him understand that the atmosphere has changed and he's about to experience loving in a way that he never has before. Norman's plan is to have demons fight each other to kill off the royal family, but he's aware that he's most likely fodder for the demons that win and probably has some plan to kill the rest of them off too. But if he instead instilled Musica as a queen and had her infect all the demons, it's still no guarantee of them managing to make a new promise and escape, especially since demons now doesn't need humans to stay lucid

No, but it did remove him from the story for a good while. Up until that point he felt more like the main character than Emma. It's not as though this had no purpose. These sorts of scenes where information is obscured do not purely serve the purpose of surprising the audience later. Had they just shown Lately take him away, his loss would not have been felt as potently. The less we knew, the more we could empathize with the others, even if we knew he was probably alright by virtue of not being shown a corpse.
