Technically the manga started several months before the first episode aired.
That's only because Sadamoto literally took 2 decades to finish the manga (it was supposed to end around the same time as the anime) and totally whiffed on the ending because he didn't know what to do with it. But before that, he actually did a lot to expand the canon and give the characters richer backstories.

Please elaborate. In my perception LN-fags are one of the most beneficial faggots this board has. They write long posts about how things turned out in the WN/LN, thus they expand the Anime/Manga by giving glimpses into their alternative universe.
VN faggots just tell everyone that the Anime sucks and than they go away, there is much worse.

Yeah, fuck people who want to have on-topic discussion. Yea Forums should have more threads about Chinese webnovels and videogames.
It's fine to talk about the source material to a an anime or manga in the corresponding threads. But it should be peripheral to the main discussion about the anime and manga, or else it's just a thinly-veiled off-topic thread that doesn't belong here. Second reason is that most VNs and LNs are trash so they bring in retards similar to the ones that love battle shounen.

It started nine months in advance, but the story was conceived first for the anime. What Sadamoto did was participate in creating a rough outline for the show, then leave with early material to adapt into a manga while production started, it was meant as advertisement. That outline was a sketch with details to be filled in later, and if there'd ever been a series bible it was discarded almost immediately, minutes into the first episode was something cryptic and possibly important for later that wasn't in those drafts. The manga started taking hiatuses after the anime premiered because the mangaka was then adapting from the episodes, he had to see enough to make a determination of what was going on in the story and then think of a way to reconcile it with what he'd already put out in a way he wanted to do.

you could say that about pretty much every Media and to label VNs that way gave me the feeling that when you say VN you mean dating sim, which is just a genre. In my experience VNs are generally really well done and rarely waste your time. You just have to pick your genre and give it some time to build up its world.
VNs let me feel emotions I did not even knew I had. It does have a bad reputation.. just like Anime and Manga does, or probably had 10 years ago.
